Basel, Switzerland quick look - Duration: 5:12.A typical route to leave Switzerland when you're heading north to France is traveling
via Basel, which is a great international city right on the border, and while you're
changing trains, perhaps you'll have enough time to take a look at the city of Basel.
In our case we only had a hour and a half between trains, but you can leave your luggage
of the station, hop in a taxi and head right into downtown Basel which is very close to
the train station, of course.
Our driver dropped us off at Claraplatz, only took about ten minutes to get here from the
station.
And this is part of the new town.
You see it's a lovely little square and flowers and benches and shops around it, and the tram
l, ine lots of trams running through Basel.
Trams make an ideal way to travel for visitors with little time, because the service is frequent
s, o we figured okay, let's hop on the tram and head into the Old Town, crossing the river
Rhine.
You'll find that you can see the highlights of Basel in just about one hour, and if you're
really pressed for time head straight for the main square of the Old Town, the Marktplatz,
the marketplace, and you'll find there's food stands, lots of people cheese and flowers
for sale, and maybe you can get a quick lunch at the sausage stand.
And don't worry about the schedule, because this market is open every day of the week.
The town hall has a magnificent delicately carved front with f, a ine clock, a belfry
pointed like an arrow, fresco paintings and a heralded arms in splendid plume bearing
the coat of arms of Basel.
Its iron gate is like a great window blind embroidered in open ironwork.
All over the courtyard there are statues and doors of carved wood.
A stone staircase leads from the court to the vestibule on the first floor, and it's
all freely open to the public.
Of course you could spend several days enjoying Basel and its surroundings.
There is so much to see here.
For example, you could visit forty different museums and soak up the multicultural ambience
of the city with that international location at the border of Switzerland, France and Germany.
And with it all, they claim a Mediterranean flair, with three hundred days of sunshine
a year and a fair temperate climate.
Basel is generally counted among the cities with the highest standard of living in the
world, so you could really enjoy an extended stay here.
However, in our case we're just changing trains so we're giving you a quick look.
There are ten different tram lines that run through the center of the city and at the
marketplace there are two lines that will take you directly back to the train station,
only takes about five or ten minutes to make that quick little journey.
It's a scenic ride.
You'll see more of the city along the way, and you'll notice there are very few automobiles
or buses in the center.
They rely more on the trams and bicycles and walking.
And you'll soon be back at the Bahnhof ready to resume your journey.
As mentioned, we only had an hour and 1/2 between trains and we managed to see this
much of Basel in just one hour.
That was an hour very well spent and gave us lots of reasons to come back again in the
future and spend more time in this great city.
The large train station straddles the border of Switzerland and France but you'd never
know it because there's no passport control between these two friendly countries.
We are here to catch the high-speed TGV that will speed us on our way into France.
We have a big series of movies about Switzerland taking you to most of the great places.
We will bring you to Lucerne and up to Mount Titlis, Mount Rigi, over to Interlaken, up
to the Jungfrau.
We will see the Shilthorn, Lauterbrunnen Valley, Trummelbach Falls, Grindelwald, Bern, then
on to Zermatt, the Matterhorn, yes we will have a look at the Gornergrat, up the Sunnegga,
do some hiking, show you the village then on down to Lugano and Locarno in the southern
part of Switzerland, the Ticino we also take you to the great city of Zürich.
Look for them in our Swiss collection.

Kate Middleton husband Prince William Told Diana He'd Return Her Royal Title When He Was King - Duration: 2:26.Kate Middleton husband Prince William Told Diana He'd Return Her Royal Title When He
Was King.
Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, formally separated in December 1992, but it
took almost four years to finalize the much-disputed divorce.
Their lawyers haggled over money and access, but one of the most painful disagreements
involved Diana's title.
That's when Prince William just barely a teenager tried to comfort his wounded
mom.
As the mother of the future heir, the divorcee wanted to keep the styling "Her Royal Highness."
Even Queen Elizabeth II agreed to the condition, but Charles was "adamant" about denying his
ex-wife the privilege, according to the New York Times.
The loss of "HRH" meant Diana would technically curtsey to her own children, as well as Charles.
Although she'd remain a member of British nobility, the Princess lost her formal connection
to the royal family, including her sons.
Prince William was just 14-years-old at the time, but he knew the change severely hurt
his mom.
Diana's former butler, Paul Burrell, later shared how the young prince tried to soothe
her "distress" in his book, A Royal Duty.
'"She told me how he had sat with her one night when she was upset over the loss of
HRH, put his arms around her and said, 'Don't worry, Mummy.
I will give it back to you one day when I am king,'" he wrote.
Over two decades later, it's no surprise the future monarch made such a sweet promise.
Diana would pass away only a year later, but Prince William has continued to honor her
legacy ever since.
Now more than ever, the Duke of Cambridge speaks out about his loss.
"I still miss my mother every day," he said recently.
"And it's 20 years after she died."thanks for watching.

My dyspraxia assessment - Duration: 5:45.oh is it doing it? [1st youtube video ever sorry!]
ok, Hi!
I have decided to make a
dyspraxia
Assessment
Diary
we'll call it a "dyspraxia assessment diary"
Basically I went to
sorry [sorts out the the loud music FINALLY]
I have been going
through the process
of applying for teacher training
so, I got on to the
the course, you do like an interview
with a written exam and
and interview questions. and i was accepted
so i was really happy about that
and then
sort of the reality hit
that i was going to have to take a
maths and english test
to get onto the course
and i really... [fails to finish sentence??? classic Kate]
I just finished my degree in human biology
and i got a 2.2
I did really well in
in my
assignments
and components
of the modules but
then id take the exams
and
like barely pass
the exam
just go to pieces
so yea i [pronounced wrong] accessed the
the universities
well I went to speak to them
about the maths
test to see if i could get
help with just... taking it (:-D)
and i was erm
directed towards disability services
where, i'm actually flapping my hands
I'm quite happy you can't see that (don't worry this will come later :-))
ermmm what was i saying....
oh!
and they said that
you know (you don't know?)
I sat down with this lovely man
and he said that
well he was asking me lots of questions
about when i was little
like how i
like learnt how to ride a bike
swimming
reading
writing
Maths
things like that [thank goodness thats over nearly hurt me'sen]
and i just said like i couldnt
do any of that
until i was about 10-11
i could write... i could read
erm when i was about 8
I managed to learnt to read
erm, which was quite a big deal for me
I couldn't tell time
or
anything like that, swimming
untill i was about 11
I just couldn't do it
It was so hard
I just remember thinking i'm never going to be able to do this
but erm
I managed to
I got help like individually
with things
like telling the time
I had like, my mum had a teacher friend
she taught me to tell the time
but genuinely
I still struggle
with that now. like i can
look at a clock, some days,
and just be like
no idea
oh
so erm
He said [*keep up* the disabilities department man haha]
take these
assessment
we'll go from there
I think you might have it
I don't think it's dyscalcula
I mean i suck at maths
I failed my foundation year maths module
I had to take a compensation
and i remember in year 6
I got 0 in my sats
maths. and i wasn't suprised
But i did somehow manage
I took, i kind of took some
had some time out
of um
school when i was in year 11
GCSE year
and i managed to self study
for my maths and english GCSE
and i managed to get 8 GCSE's at grade a-c
which is kind of what you need to do anything
in england
Thats not true
But you know what i mean
*whispers* hopefully
so yea (moving swiftly on), thats whats happening
at the minute
I did the first test/assessment
I havn't heard back from them
[I've been advised this can take weeks/ couple of months0
but it did come up on the screen
it just said you have shown
all these traits
and stuff
like the test is ridiculous who can do that!
like theres like
these
pictures
where they're like
whats the end of the pattern
i'm like..... [I had no clue i did this 'expression' haha]
and i actually, I'll admit
that i kind of
*internal conflict much kate?! naughty! :-)*
I didn't cheat *lies*
I had my partner with me
and i said is this right
and he said how have you
got to that answer?
and i said well
like this
he just looked at me like
he was liek well actually i don't know if i should tell you this
but that is actually the right answer
but
thats now why
i was like ok
well why is it?
and he said yea thats why
so i put that answer
because obviously
even if i hadnt
got
to it the right way
it was still the right answer
but he said that i got most of them wrong (i'm not sure he did tbh...i maybe thought that because of the result)
so I don't know what was going on there
I don't know what that was about
so i'm just waiting to get an email
back now
*checks self out... yea that happens*
and we'll see where we go from there
I don't really know what i'm trying to acheive with this video I'm not going to lie but erm....
it's a journey (oh ... just wow)
I think thats
what were
What i'm trying to
show people
like if i get this
I think it's like a 3 hour
long assessment for some people
just... chins
so we'll see
Thankyou
for listening

Speak English Confidently By Ignoring RUDE People | Tips For Advanced English Learners - Duration: 4:39.Hey guys what's up Stefanie the English coach here from englishfulltime.com
and in this video we are going to talk about how to handle people that make fun
of your English okay so first of all as if language learning wasn't hard enough
now here come people sometimes to laugh at you and laugh at your English and
this happens all the time it's happened to me with Spanish it and I've actually
seen this happen to my husband with his English his friends tease him all the
time and you know what I don't know if it's just a guy thing or I honestly
don't know what because my friends never teased me as much as his friends tease
him but maybe my friends never saw me speak Spanish I don't know but actually
no they did but still regardless of what's going on the problem is with
people that make fun of you or tease you for your English it's like you cannot
win with them if you have a bad accent they tease you because your English is
bad they're like oh my gosh look your English is horrible is how you speak
English no way close your mouth and then if your English is good they make fun of
you and they go look at this guy over here trying to sound like a native
English speaker oh he thinks he's so cool he thinks his English is so good
and so it's like really stupid because again if your English is bad they make
fun of you if your English is really good they make fun of you and who knows
for what reasons people enjoy teasing in this way but really you just can't let
it affect you you're not learning English to be able to impress your
friends or whatever it is and people might make fun of you maybe they already
do actually I'd love to know in the comments if you've experienced any of
this but yeah sometimes people are going to make fun of you they'll tease you if
your English is good or if your English is bad but at the end of the day you
just have to say screw it like to everyone who is going to make fun of
your English or say something negative or give you an unsolicited opinion about
your English or whatever just tell them to F off like you don't actually have to
tell them that but that needs to be your mentality you cannot sit here and care
about what other people think about your English because you are learning English
for you you're learning English for your future you're trying to
improve your English and yeah you should want to sound like a native speaker
because you know it's just going to help you speak more confidently and if you're
constantly listening to all these people around you that are making fun of your
English skills or whatever that is going to destroy your confidence so whether
you know you just have to tune it out automatically or actually tell them look
like I didn't ask for your opinion and I really don't care what you think so
don't talk to me about this anymore or whatever it is I mean I don't know with
my husband and his friends he doesn't really care he takes it lightly he's
just like whatever that's the way they are it doesn't bother him
but for other people you know I know that those kinds of comments could
really really bother them and hurt them and just make them lose their confidence
and you guys I'm here for you and I'm here to tell you you can't let
it you can't care about those kinds of comments you can't even pay attention to
them don't feed them don't let them you know create any kind of emotional
response in you just get away from it do whatever you have to do to get away from
that kind of negativity especially if it really bothers you okay so I hope this
tip was helpful you guys I'm sorry this is just a part of the language learning
process people aren't always going to be supportive and your family and friends
even though we try to rely on them the most normally they're not always going
to be supportive so we just have to understand this and then have a solution
ready to go and the solution is just simply not to care and not to pay
attention to that so anyhow let me know in the comments if this has ever
happened to you and what you do to handle it I don't think you should
resort to just being mean and nasty and retaliating and fighting back because
you don't have time for that you're busy with other things more important things
okay no time to that but anyhow let me know in the comments what you guys think
and I'll see you in another video talk soon bye hey guys thanks so much
