Thank you so much for being such an amazing audience
and also for being here at this very special Actors Fund performance.
(clapping)
What that means is that
tonight's show is an extra performance that we do
where the actors, musicians, stage managers,
company managers, producers, and theater owners
all donate their time and talent
so that every cent raised from tonight's performance
can go directly to the services and programs
provided by The Actors Fund.
(clapping)
Now, this wonderful organization
helps over 21,000 professionals a year in theatre, film,
TV, dance, music and more.
And I know the name says The Actors Fund
but it doesn't just helps the actors
it also helps musicians, writers, directors
producers, designers, ushers,
anyone and everyone who works in the performance arts.
So this is a really amazing organization.
They do these things through these amazing programs they have.
There's wonderful things–social services, employment, housing, even health care!
Places like the newly opened Friedman Health Center,
(clapping)
which is working in partnership with Mount Sinai Hospital–
what that means is, uh,
if you don't have health insurance,
you can still get health care
provided by these amazing professionals
at Mount Sinai and at The Friedman Health Center, and
they cover the costs.
For things even like–therapy.
Which–let's face it.
We all chose to be in the performing arts
so you know we need therapy!
A'ight?
So, uh, this is a really good thing for us, uh,
and we're really happy to be doing this for them.
Uhm, since 1980, uh since 1882,
which is when I think I did my first show,
(laughter)
no, but since 1882
The Actors Fund has been the place
for the people in our community
to turn to when they are in times of need
and they never turn anyone away. Uhm,
so I thank you so much for being here. Ah,
I have a couple of things to ask you.
On your way out, you're gonna see some people
with baggies, or buckets or whatever, blocking the exits,
(laughter)
it would be really great if you guys threw some cash in there
threw some donations in there,
and if you don't have any cash on you,
you can use your ticket envelope,
or your stuffer in your Playbill to send donations in.
This is how this organization runs,
this is how we make this happen for all these people
who need your help so desperately,
and uh you guys are responsible for this.
So thank you so much.
Thank you for being here.
Get home safe.
