UWM's student investors help Elmbrook Humane Society thrive - Duration: 1:18.
Most of the money that student investment programs manage is internal
to their university or it's a donor's gift and that money is not one that can
run out the door if you do a poor job. But in the Elmbrook Humane Society, this is a
one-year contract that is renewed. It has been renewed each year. So not only does
it provide a real meaning because you're helping someone in the community — but you
know you can be fired. And as part of the coursework
we're helping analyze the performance of the fund, the asset allocation, creating
an investment policy statement. We have an investment lab — it's called the David O.
Nicholas Applied Finance Lab. David gave $2.5 million for that.
It's endowed — that means we're actually going to have that lab forever. Having
support with gifts hasn't just changed the program — the program could
not be around without it. I am so grateful for the people who have supported this
program, which is making such a huge impact on the students, who would then go
out into the community and make a big impact on the community. And guess what,
then they give back to the students again, and it just continues on this
wonderful feedback loop.

THE stormclouds have all but cleared for Chelsea boss Antonio Conte after confirmation troublesome striker Diego Costa will re-join Atletico Madrid in January.
A brief 30-word statement from the Premier League champions confirmed a deal had been agreed for the wantaway forward to return to Spain.
Diego Costa finally bagged his move back to Atletico Madrid this month.
Antonio Conte still has the option to play Diego Costa until January.
Until then he is available to Conte.
But does the Italian need him?.
And, even if he does, should he think about using him? Our friends at Football Whispers weigh up that dilemma.
In the end, all parties are happy, as Costa gets to leave Chelsea and return to Atletico.
Conte gets shot of a player he long since decided to discard and Atleti coach Diego Simeone sees his squad boosted by the return of a hero for the second half of the season.
There was a sense of inevitability about the move.
Yet the future of the irritable striker has dominated the back pages throughout the summer and, in fact, since a high-profile bust-up with Conte in January.
Somehow Conte has held it all together in the nine months since, winning the Premier League title and reaching the FA Cup final while successfully reintegrating Costa into his side.
The former Juventus coach deserves a lot of credit for that.
In Italy he is known to be every bit as likely to fly off the handle as Costa.
But he has remained dignified and professional throughout the debacle.
However, the same cannot be said of Costa.
After being informed, by text, he was no longer part of the Chelsea coach's plans he took the summer off and partied in Brazil.
It was clear that, if he wasn't wanted at Stamford Bridge, Costa was going to make the most of being on de facto gardening leave for the remainder of his time with the club.
Diego Costa arrives at Madrid to complete his transfer to Atletico from Chelsea.
Diego Costa is the latest in a long line of stars to wave goodbye to Chelsea.
One assumes he has now shown his face at Cobham or Stamford Bridge in order to complete the formalities on his Chelsea exit.
But, thanks to Atletico's refusal to meet the Premier League side's asking price sooner it has dragged on and Costa remains in limbo.
Not that there will be any tears spilt for him.
So what happens now? Conte would be well within his rights to banish the forward from Cobham and let him do as he pleases until the transfer window opens.
In fact, he could let him go ahead and train with Simeone's side in Spain.
Yet despite all the off-field antics Costa remains a fine striker.
Alvaro Morata is now the leading man at Chelsea after a stunning start to the season.
There is no-one quite like him in the Premier League who can bully defences with his ability and tetchy nature.
After all, now his move away from Stamford Bridge is complete, perhaps he will fall in line and do as Conte asks.
Who are we kidding?.
Costa is defined by his ability to cause an argument in an empty room.
He plays on the edge and when it's for you he's unplayable.
But when that line is crossed he becomes a liability.
At this stage he owes nothing to Conte and Chelsea.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte laughs off Diego Costas suggestion that he is being treated like an animal.
His actions over the past few months have made it clear what he thinks – even if there is a school of thought to suggest he has been hard done by in the way he was dumped.
Above all, why would Conte risk it? The pressure he was reportedly under at the beginning of the season has lifted and the Blues are winning without last season's top scorer.
Alvaro Morata, Costa's replacement, has taken to the Premier League with ease and has scored three and assisted two.
Even his understudy, Michy Batshuayi, has hit the goal trail.
There is no longer a crisis at Stamford Bridge.
So why on Earth would Conte light the loose cannon in the corner?.

The IRS Solution Attorney's Trainwreck of the Week - Hurricane Irma Episode - Duration: 3:56.

So that sound of the train wreck is the signal to me, to start my favorite part of the show,
the IRS Train Wreck of the week. This is the segment of the show where I talk about somebody
who came into the office and their situation was essentially a train wreck, it was just
a mess. And ultimately, working together, we managed to make it all come out much better.
This is an interesting story because this gentleman caused an IRS problem in a way that
we don't talk about here much on the show. My typical client is sort of a 1099, self
employed kind of person, and just sort of gets behind, doesn't know how to make estimated
tax payments, and that kind of thing. So they end up amassing large amounts of tax debt.
This case is a little bit different, this case was a gentleman who has always worked,
as far as I know, always worked as a W-2 wage earner, yet he managed to amass a liability
of over $219,000 dollars. And so the question is, how do you do that. That's what I wanna
know. Uh, repair electrical. And so, what he had done - he was a six figure earner at
one point, he's no longer a six figure earner- but at one point in time, he had a nice run
of six figure a year earnings, and he just couldn't make it. He had family situations,
people depending on him - whatever the case may be- and so what he did, is he submitted
a W-4 to the employer that basically said-I can't remember if it was 99 exemptions or
if he just wrote exemptions on it, I can't recall. Ohhh, that stupid, crazy number? And
so there was no federal income tax withholding from his paycheck, whatsoever. In our office,
we always- we joking call these cases like somebody who had to work at generating an
IRS problem, right? I mean cause you have to proactively do something to make this happen,
and he came to me with a revenue officer on his back and things were looking bad - he
works at a bank now, and he's really actually one of my favorite clients because, this is
a guy that just: every time I asked him to do something, he was Johnny on the spot, he
just did it. And that's not most of your clients. By a long stretch, but this gentleman, I just
loved working with him because if I asked him to do something, he just did it. No questions,
no complaining, he just did it. We actually offered the IRS $200 dollars in this case,
$200 dollars in exchange for $219,000. Now, I'm a pretty aggressive guy when it comes
to these offers and I didn't expect it to go through for two hundred dollars, but this
is not final. It's been recommended for approval at this point at $6,720 dollars, and actually
just about a month ago, it was around $8800 dollars, or actually a couple weeks ago, it
was around $8800 dollars, and I kept working on it, got it down to $6720. The client asked
what I think, and I said I think it's time, I think it's time- Or is like that your final
offer- Yeah, I think it's time, I think $6700 on $219,000 is a pretty darn good deal. And
how long is he going to have to pay that? He's going to have five months, and some of
it's payed- 20% of it is already payed. So he's going to have about five months to pay
a little bit of five thousand dollars, and he says it's going to be tough but he is able
to do it. It makes me feel really proud and happy to help people with a giant mess like
this, $219,000 dollars, get it resolved with the IRS. He's going to be back in their good
graces and he's going to be able to move on with his life, get good credit, and all that
kind of stuff that the rest of us enjoy. So, it you've got a hot mess, or you know someone

There is a huge amount of joy in running for me.
It's definitely not about how fast I've run,
or even how far I've run.
It's about community.
To have relationships with like-minded people.
These are people who mean something to me,
really mean something to me.
And seeing these people, achieving their own goals
no matter what speed they run.
That 's by far the most enjoyable part of parkrun for me.
