Youtube daily report Aug 4 2018

[INTRO ♪]

So. You ate some moldy bread.

You made a fine looking sandwich, took a few huge bites, and then realized the bread you used was a little ... fuzzy.

Oops.

Good news is, most of the time, this isn't a cause for panic.

It's kinda gross, and you might not want to think about it too much, but in all likelihood, nothing bad will happen to you—

especially if you have a healthy immune system.

Still, there's a reason experts don't recommend finishing off that moldy loaf, so it's best not to press your luck.

Molds are a type of fungi, and some people can be allergic to them.

It's pretty rare for something serious to happen, but one teenager actually died after eating two pancakes made with two-year-old, mold-infested mix.

Even if you aren't allergic, though, you're still not off the hook.

The other big danger with mold-contaminated foods is mycotoxins.

These are chemicals various molds make under certain conditions that are toxic to humans and other creatures.

For the most part, if you consume a little bit once or twice, you'll probably be okay.

But in larger doses, or over longer periods of time, they can become an issue.

Take aflatoxin, for example, which is most commonly found in crops like corn and peanuts.

We first realized it might be a problem in the 1960s when, over several months, 100,000 turkeys died in the UK from a mysterious condition dubbed Turkey X disease.

Ultimately, scientists traced the poultry massacre to aflatoxin contaminating the animal feed.

Today, we also know aflatoxin increases risk of liver cancer in humans, so it's not something you want on your toast.

Other dangerous mycotoxins include ochratoxin, which targets the kidneys and is often found in corn or barley products,

and fumonisins, which can cause birth defects and are also found in corn.

Right now, we know of about 400 or so mycotoxins in total.

For the most part, though, they're not too concerning in countries that do food safety tests and keep tabs on these sorts of things.

They tend to contaminate raw grains and animal feeds rather than things you'd stick in your mouth directly,

but they can cause outbreaks and are a real health hazard in developing nations.

Because you could get sick, the rule of thumb is to throw away food that has any mold on it if it's soft.

This applies to things like bread, and also soft cheeses, meats, and dips.

That's because molds grow in microscopic thread-like branches called hyphae, and in soft foods, it's easier for them to spread.

By the time you have a colorful patch of fuzzy spores on your bread, it's likely that the filaments run deep.

If the food is harder, like a hard cheddar, it's less likely that those hyphae have infiltrated the whole cheese.

So, if mold is on just a small area, you can cut around it, but be generous.

The same advice goes for firmer fruits and veggies like carrots or large strawberries.

Toss or cut out the moldy section, rinse the rest, and enjoy.

But of course, if the whole item is covered in fur, you'll want to stay away.

Finally, if you see mold on food, there's a good chance it's also loaded with bacteria by that point.

Which means mycotoxin or not, you could still get sick.

So it's better to play it safe, and find another snack. Sorry.

Read Meghan Markle's 2014 Birthday Message to Herself: 'You are Complete With or Without a Partner' - Duration: 4:50.

In 2014, future royal Meghan Markle was playing Rachel Zane on Suits and was happily running her lifestyle blog, The Tig, as she approached her 33rd birthday

In a short essay she wrote to her followers on The Tig on her birthday, Meghan got candid about her struggle to accept herself

Now, just four years later (on her 37th birthday!), her message is more powerful than ever, as the former actress is owning her new role as the Duchess of Sussex

"I am 33 years old today. And I am happy. And I say that so plainly because, well…it takes time

To be happy. To figure out how to be kind to yourself. To not just choose that happiness, but to feel it," she wrote at the time

Meghan also delved into her challenging past, starting with her cliquey high school and her early years in Hollywood

"My 20s were brutal – a constant battle with myself, judging my weight, my style, my desire to be as cool/as hip/as smart/as 'whatever' as everyone else

My teens were even worse – grappling with how to fit in, and what that even meant

My high school had cliques: the black girls and white girls, the Filipino and the Latina girls

Being biracial, I fell somewhere in between."  It wasn't until she was 24 that she had a life-changing conversation with a casting director: "I must have been about 24 when a casting director looked at me during an audition and said 'You need to know that you're enough

Less makeup, more Meghan.' "  Then, she addresses her fans, writing, "You need to know that you're enough

A mantra that has now engrained itself so deeply within me that not a day goes by without hearing it chime in my head

That five pounds lost won't make you happier, that more makeup won't make you prettier, that the now iconic saying from Jerry Maguire – 'You complete me' – frankly, isn't true

You are complete with or without a partner. You are enough just as you are."  And last, Meghan asks for one birthday gift: "I want you to be kind to yourself

I want you to challenge yourself. I want you to stop gossiping, to try a food that scares you, to buy a coffee for someone just because, to tell someone you love them…and then to tell yourself right back

I want you to find your happiness."  The Tig, which Meghan shut down in August 2017, was Meghan's passion project

It mostly covered food and travel, but she occasionally dished out advice about life and love

She named her blog after the red wine Tignanello.  "Tignanello is a full-bodied red wine that I tried about seven years ago

In wine circles, it is nicknamed 'Tig,'" she explained. "It was my first moment of getting it — I finally understood what people meant by the body, structure, finish, legs of wine

The TIG is my nickname for me getting it. Not just wine, but everything."  Meghan's life has changed drastically since her 2014 birthday post, and it seems she's happier than ever now

She's had a dozen royal firsts since marrying Prince Harry in May, and she'll be spending this birthday with her husband and his family at the wedding of Charlie Van Straubenzee, a childhood friend of Harry's, to Daisy Jenks

During last weekend's polo match, Nacho Figueras, a close friend of Harry's, said he and his new wife "they seem very, very happy," and earlier in July, Priyanka Chopra, a friend of Meghan's shared that "she's doing amazing

It's so nice to see."

It will be a difficult task.

Try to write all the signs you have got from God.

Signs - it means the events or the words that have got across to you;

the people through whom it has become clear to you that God wants to communicate something important to you,

calls on you to do something, wants to warn you against something.

And now write the signs down and look what you have done with them,

to what extent you have followed them.

What particular smaller guidelines for yourself you have drawn from that, which of them you have applied,

and which of them are still waiting to be followed.

You must not waste signs.

Today in the Gospel you can see Jesus' concern that the signs He gives will touch us deeply

and will lead us where He invites us.

I Lost My Motivation - Duration: 7:00.

Man, you didn't lose your motivation.

You lost your focus on what you're fighting for.

Two completely different things.

People always say, "Well Brendan I lost my motivation."

I'm like, "You didn't lose your motivation!

"You forgot to show up in the morning,

"look and think and feel what is it you are fighting for."

So you just show up and sometimes,

you check your inbox and you look on social media

or you listen to that podcast or even,

you do your workout, but you're not thinking and obsessing,

what is it I'm fighting for in my life right now.

Or, who is it I am fighting for,

because if you begin your day grounded

in what you find to be purposeful, meaningful,

important, fulfilling, and you say

"What is it I'm fighting for, why am I showing up,

why is it necessary that I deliver with excellence today?"

And you really emotionally get connected to something.

That's the challenge.

People are losing their motivation

because they're not emotionally connected to anything

outside of like, the outrage on social media.

Outside of the outrage of the news.

They're losing that fire inside

that wants to build something, create something,

deliver something, overcome something.

So now they're just focused on everybody else

and the real thing is, they didn't lose their motivation,

they got distracted, two different things, right?

If you're really connected with what you are doing

and why you are doing it and who you are doing it for

specifically, everything changes

and you'll overcome even the distractions.

We completed the world's largest study of high performers

worldwide with data points that were two million people

from 190 countries around the world,

and when we polled and we found out

who those high performers were,

the people who had the longest terms of success,

and there was no question at all,

that they tend to be focusing on one person,

or maybe their team, or maybe their financial situation,

they're focused on like one or two things

for the reason that they were doing things,

and it wasn't like, I'm going to change the world

and they had some big you know,

esoteric dreamy kind of thing.

They were like, you know what, I gotta make the rent.

You know what, I gotta buy this new thing.

You know what, I wanna build this team.

You know what, I want to build this business.

You know what, I gotta get my art out here,

I'm fighting for that, but they were fighting

for one specific thing, maybe two,

but it was so specific, and they were starting their day

connecting with that thing, you know?

Many of you all know my story,

when I started as a writer and an online trainer,

totally broke, totally busted,

living in my girlfriend's apartment, had nothing,

and I had to look at her every day and remind myself,

I'm fighting for our future here,

because there were of plenty of days I was down on myself,

plenty of days I didn't feel like it.

It doesn't matter if you feel like it.

Look, if you don't feel like it,

then it's your job to make yourself feel like it.

If you don't feel like it,

it's your job to fire yourself up.

If you don't feel like it, it's time to sit and think,

okay, what is important to me?

What really can I connect to and feel in my heart

is important for me to go and do?

'Cause you deserve to do something important with your day

but you'll never do it if you keep starting your day

in so much distraction and consuming everybody else's will

and desires and opinions and judgements.

You gotta start that day so anchored to what is important,

that motivation isn't even an issue the rest of the day

and that's what I do every morning,

I'm sitting there and I'm thinking about,

what is the thing I'm so passionate about right now?

And it's not like every day I'm like,

"Yay, here we go!"

It's like I got to really think about it,

because you know, otherwise the tasks, the other activities,

the things I'm supposed to do come in,

but I gotta go, what am I fighting for, for real?

What's important for me now?

Why do I need to deliver with excellence?

Well because you know what,

I care about, my family and my future,

I care about my students,

I care about showing my excellence,

I care about my art so here we go,

and I get deeply and emotionally connected to

what I am doing in the morning right off the bat.

That changes everything.

Second, I avoid distractions completely.

I mean I literally avoid almost all distractions.

Even if I'm going to do email,

email isn't something I check into once in a while

throughout the day, I'm not standing in line

checking into Instagram once in a while,

that's not what I'm doing.

If I'm going to do social media,

there's a time that I've blocked.

That's when social media's going to happen.

If I'm doing email, I block that time,

that's when that's going to happen.

Otherwise, I'm focusing on the major activities

that are moving my life forward.

One reason people lack motivation

is because they lack momentum

toward the things that they matter.

It's not that they're not getting things done.

I mean you look at 'em, they got plenty of busy work

in their life, you know, look at all the busy work they got.

They're actually accomplishing a ton of things,

they're doing a ton of things!

Look, 500 posts today, answered 100 emails,

kicked out 50 slides, created 20 things, had 10 phone calls,

they're busy, but often they're busy

doing work that means nothing to them.

They're busy reacting, not creating,

and so they're losing that sense of momentum overall

towards things that are fulfilling to them,

and because they're losing that,

now they get even more bogged down in distractions

because they don't feel good,

and I don't feel like I'm getting momentum in my life.

I feel sad, I'm not doing anything with my life,

so, let me check in what everybody else is doing

in their life on Instagram right now.

I'm here to tell you, if you want motivation in your life,

get momentum again, set three goals

you're gonna do every single day.

So start your day, get connected and fired up,

that thing that you are fighting for.

Who are you fighting for, what is needed from you today?

Really connect with that, feel it,

allow it to come into your body,

and then ask yourself, what must happen today?

What are the three things that must happen today?

And do those first.

Knock those out, focus on those

before you do the phone calls, before you do the tweets,

before you answer the things, before you look on Instagram,

before you browse, get done what is important for the day.

That momentum will fire you up

and then you'll start taking on better and bigger

and more appropriate and right and motivating projects

for yourself versus just becoming a consumer.

You want more motivation, create new things

that move your life forward, whatever that is,

if that's a pitch, a presentation, a phone call,

an idea to your colleagues at work,

something that you're going to propose to the world.

Whatever you're going to do,

it is necessary to get connected in the morning.

Set those goals, knock 'em out of the way.

That momentum will bring the fire back in.

You didn't lose your motivation,

you losed your focus on what matters the most.

Here's What I Think About Buying a Used Electric Car and More - Duration: 3:51.

rev up your engines, berry mo Gary, what do you think about

electric cars, what do you think by buying a used electric car, okay

well that's a good question because one, electric cars are simpler, realize their

motor is an electric motor, they don't need a transmission, so they're much simpler

vehicles, of course realize there's not that many places you can recharge them

when you're traveling, so you gotta take that into consideration,

but then you say what do you think about buying a used electric car, okay that in

itself may not be a bad idea, for one main reason is, they lose the values

pretty fast, and so if somebody buys an electric car for say 35 grand and it's

used, you might be able to get it from 15 or so, because they're not all that popular

so if you're gonna buy an electric car, like I say they are simpler cars

there's less things to break, buying a used one like that might be a really

good idea, I don't advise buying used hybrid cars, because they're too complicated

they got a gas engine, they got an electric engine, they switch back and

forth, but an electric car that's full electric, buying one uses probably the

smartest idea if you want an electric car, Night Rider says, Scotty

I have an 2005 Civic, when I'm driving and give it gas, it feels it revs up but it

doesn't take off, okay let's pray you have a standard

transmission, because if you have a standard transmission Civic and it revs

up but it doesn't take off, it means your clutch is worn out and it's time for a

new clutch, but on the other hand if you have an automatic transmission Civic and

it revs up and it doesn't take off, you need a transmission overhaul and on the

Hondas, you're gonna spend anywhere from three thousand dollars up, to have a full

overhaul done on a Honda automatic transmission they're weak transmissions

and they're very complicated and they're very expensive to work on, because

they're not like other cars, other automatic transmissions have an oil pan

on the bottom, you can drop the oil pan get to a lot of parts, Honda's don't you

got to take them apart like a motorcycle transmission, take them off the car and

then split the cases, it's a very expensive endeavor to do something like that,

Joseph Proyas says, Scotty I have a 2001 Grand Marquis with one hundred nine

thousand miles on it, it runs great the frame is great, but it needs a front-end

rebuild do you think it's worth it and how much are parts and labor

if it runs great and it's in good shape and it's only got one hundred nine

thousand miles, yes go ahead and fix it, now of course I can't give you a quote

without seeing the car, it depends on what needs to be rebuilt, but they made an

awful lot of those things, there's a big aftermarket, you don't have to go to Ford

and buy an expensive a-frame, you can get aftermarket ones that work perfectly

fine, and go that route and if you want to do it yourself watch my videos on

front end work, or if you're going to a mechanic

ask them what parts he's gonna use, how much labor he's gonna charge and see what

the prices are in your area, Steve morse says, Scotty I have twenty thousand dollars

to spend on a used car, quality and serviceability are key with decent

gas mileage, what make model year do you recommend, okay twenty thousand, hey get a

nice used Cmary if you want a nice car, now if you can find a Lexus for the same

price, what the heck I mean I bought my wife's Lexus for four grand from a

customer with sixty thousand miles, but I got lucky, so you know a nice Camry or if

you want a smaller car, get a Corolla those things can last a really long time

and there's plenty of them out there, my advice though is try to get it from a

private individual, because if you go to these car Lots they always ask really

high dollar, because generally they're financing it and they're gonna charge

you more since they're financing, and if you got 20 grand to plunk down cash get

a private deal you're gonna get a better price that way,

so if you never want to miss another one of my new car repair videos, remember

to ring that Bell!
