Youtube daily report Jul 2 2017

Look! Say hi to Auntie Nat!

Fat.

One of our tech boys flagged this.

Splashed down in the Banda Sea.

Could be the Quinjet.

But with Stark's stealth tech,

we still can't track the damn thing.

Right.

Probably jumped out and swam to Fiji.

He'll send a postcard.

"Wish you were here."

You sent me to recruit him way back when.

Did you know then what was gonna happen?

You never know.

You hope for the best, then make do with what you get.

I got a great team.

Nothing lasts forever.

Trouble, Ms. Romanoff.

No matter who wins or loses, trouble still comes around.

The rules have changed.

We're dealing with something new.

Oh, the Vision is artificial intelligence.

- A machine. - So, it doesn't count?

No, it's not like a person lifting the hammer.

Right, different rules for us.

- Nice guy. Artificial. - Thank you.

He can wield the hammer, he can keep the Mind Stone.

It's safe with the Vision.

And these days, safe is in short supply.

But if you put the hammer in an elevator...

- It would still go up. - Elevator's not worthy.

I'm gonna miss these little talks of ours.

Not if you don't leave.

I have no choice.

The Mind Stone is the fourth of the Infinity Stones

to show up in the last few years.

It's not a coincidence.

Someone has been playing an intricate game

and has made pawns of us.

And once all these pieces are in position...

Triple Yahtzee.

You think you can find out what's coming?

I do.

Besides this one,

there's nothing that can't be explained.

That man has no regard for lawn maintenance.

I'm gonna miss him, though. And you're gonna miss me.

There's gonna be a lot of manful tears.

I will miss you, Tony.

Yeah?

Well, it's time for me to tap out.

Maybe I should take a page out of Barton's book.

Build Pepper a farm, hope nobody blows it up.

The simple life.

- You'll get there one day. - I don't know.

Family, stability...

The guy who wanted all that went in the ice 75 years ago.

I think someone else came out.

You all right?

I'm home.

You wanna keep staring at the wall, or do you wanna go to work?

I mean, it's a pretty interesting wall.

I thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes.

How do we look?

Well, we're not the '27 Yankees.

We got some hitters.

They're good. They're not a team.

Let's beat them into shape.

Alexis Sanchez says he knows where he'll be next season - but REFUSES to say it's Arsenal - Duration: 3:02.

Alexis Sanchez says he knows where he'll be next season - but REFUSES to say it's Arsenal

Sanchez is out of contract at the end of next season and has been heavily linked with an exit from Arsenal.

Manchester City and Bayern Munich are keen on his signature but the Gunners want to keep their star man beyond the summer.

City have grown confident they will land the Chile star despite Arsenals reluctance to sell to a Premier League rival. Sanchez is currently in Russia ahead of the Confederations Cup Final between Chile and Germany this Sunday.

He was asked at a pre-match press conference whether he would be playing with Chile team-mate and close friend Claudio Bravo at City next season. Sanchez laughed and responded: Good question.

Right now Im focused on the Confederations Cup. When this is finished I will see if I stay or if I go.

I dont know. Sanchez was then asked: Is it clear in your mind or have you not decided? And the striker said: Yes its clear but I cant tell you. Following the press conference, Sky Sports reporter Bryan Swanson asked the 28-year-old about his future.

Alexis, Im from Sky Sports, what are the chances of you staying at Arsenal? Swanson asked.

Sanchez replied: I dont know my friend, I dont know. Sanchez was quickly ushered away, with a Chile representative saying to Swanson: The press conference is over thank you. The forward scored 30 goals for Arsenal last season in all competitions.

However, he has grown frustrated at his sides failure to compete for the Premier League title and the Champions League.

The Gunners failing to qualify for Europes elite club competition has not helped matters as Sanchez wants to be playing in that tournament.

He is also thought to be keen on working with City boss Pep Guardiola again after the pair enjoyed a spell together when the Spaniard was manager at Barcelona.

MORE DIYS TO DO WHEN YOU'RE BORED OVER THE SUMMER | @karenkavett - Duration: 9:38.

Hi guys, I cannot believe how many of you loved my Things to do When You're Bored

Over the Summer video.

If you're new here from that video, welcome, I hope you enjoy your stay.

Today I have even more DIY ideas of stuff that you can do when you're still bored,

still just sitting at home all summer long.

So be sure to subscribe and like this video, and stay tuned until the end of the video

because I have a very exciting craft supply giveaway for you guys.

One of you is gonna win a pretty sweet prize pack, so all of the details will be at the

end of the video.

So you guys know that I love Perler Beads, and today we're going to make them 3D into

these fun rainbow wind spinners.

To make these, you're going to want to make lines of Perler Beads that are nine beads

long.

There's no complicated pattern to follow here, literally anyone can make a line of

beads.

Once you've made all of the colors that you want, put your ironing paper on top and

then iron them just like you would with any other Perler Bead project.

Really try to get them evenly melted though, so that they look sort of like this.

Once they've cooled down for a minute, flip them over and iron the other side, again trying

to keep them as evenly melted as possible.

They should look like this when you're done, and I made three of each color, but if you're

really bored, you can make as many as you like.

To assemble it, cut a piece of wire and bend the end so that it has a little loop.

Then use a thumbtack to make a hole in the center bead of each of your colored lines

and thread them onto the wire.

Keep doing this until you've added all of your Perler Bead pieces.

Once you get to the top, bend the wire to make another loop and trim off any extra wire.

Then you can thread some string through that loop, hang it up wherever you want, and arrange

it into a spiral or other designs.

This would be so cute on a porch next to a birdhouse, but I don't have a porch or a

birdhouse, so I just hung mine up in my room.

Next we're going to add some color to this t-shirt with embroidery.

Trust me, it's really easy.

You can start with any t-shirt you like, I'm using this pineapple shirt I got off of the

Forever21 clearance rack for four dollars.

You'll also need three colors of embroidery thread - I'm using fun neon colors.

You'll need a large sewing needle for each color and a pair of scissors.

Cut a piece of thread for each color and thread them onto your needles, tying a knot on the

other end.

Now we're going to add a stripe of color here on the seam of the sleeve.

I'm not actually sure if this type of stitch has a name, but basically, just sew down in

a straight line, and then come back up to the top and sew another straight line right

next to it to get a solid block of color.

Do ten stitches this way, and then this is the pattern we're going to make to get a

gradient effect.

So once you finish your first block, thread your next color onto the shirt and do a stitch,

and then alternate colors for ten stitches.

Then do ten more stitches of just your second color.

And then thread on your third color and alternate those for ten stitches.

I think you guys get the gist - just make sure to tie off your colors as you finish

each section.

And try to keep your stitches as neat as you can - mine were a little off since I was doing

it away from myself towards the camera.

But if you're really bored all day long, just take your time with it.

Keep going with that pattern all the way around both sleeves, and also around the neckline.

It probably took me about three hours to do the whole shirt, but I love how it came out,

and it adds such a fun pop of color to a shirt that otherwise was a little boring.

Next we're going to make greeting cards.

Everyone loves getting mail, so if you have a free afternoon, you can make a handful of

cards to have on hand for the next time you're invited to a last minute birthday party or

your mom makes you send a thank you note.

To make these, begin by printing out your message backwards.

I'll have my designs linked below for you to download, but you can write any text and

use any font that you like.

So, cut down the paper and fold it to make a card - but this is important - make sure

your message is on the inside.

Now you'll need two pieces of scrapbook paper - one patterned and one solid.

Use a gluestick to glue the front of the card to the patterned paper and trim it down.

Then open up the card and use a craft knife to cut out each letter.

If you have a Silhouette or a Cricut machine, they can do this for you, but I mean the whole

point is that you're really bored, so you might as well do it by hand.

Just make sure to also cut out the inside shapes from each letter and save those, because

we'll be using them later.

Also the great thing about using an organic font like this is that you don't have to

be super exact with your cutting, just try to get it as close as possible.

So once you've cut out the entire thing, grab your solid paper.

Use your gluestick to glue the card to the solid paper and once again, cut off the extra

paper.

Then to finish it off, grab those inside shapes of the letters and use your gluestick to glue

them down, and I found it helpful to use the back of a pencil to kind of press them down,

since your fingers are going to end up covered in glue.

And that's it.

I think this card is so cute, and it looks like something you paid a lot of money for,

but you made it yourself.

You can also make an inverted card, where you cover the card with your solid paper and

then glue down all of the letters you cut out from the first one.

I definitely like the first version better, but you know, you can give this one to that

friend who you don't really like as much.

But these are so easy to make that you can knock out a bunch of them in an afternoon

and have them ready to go no matter what kind of card you need to send.

And finally, we're going a little retro, we're going to do some paint by numbers.

You, yes you in the back with no artistic skill, can indeed paint this ice cream cone,

I promise.

So you can always go onto google or pinterest and print out any paint by numbers template

that you like, but I'm actually going to be using these postcard sets that were made

by my fellow DIY YouTuber Robert Mahar.

They're not paying me to talk about these, although I get them for free, but I genuinely

think they're so so much fun.

These kits come with the paints already mixed, a tiny paintbrush, and two of each design.

You can get this set of cocktail designs, but I'm actually going to do the ice cream

one from the dessert set.

It's so easy, you literally just fill in the shapes with the corresponding color and

suddenly you have a gorgeous painting.

It's just like coloring, only a little more physical and textural, and I think it is so

relaxing to put on a podcast and then slowly fill in the entire design.

It's like a jigsaw puzzle where you have all these little sections that you're piecing

together and then you step back and you've made an ice cream cone.

If you're like me and you love slow, methodical crafts that take all afternoon to finish,

a paint by numbers project is the perfect thing for you.

Plus you can still feel free to get creative.

You can replace the colors with whichever ones you like, add extra patterns or designs

to the image, do you do boo.

So I love how these postcards came out, and if you want to make the exact same ones, I'm

actually giving away two of the paint by numbers kits.

The prize pack will include everything you see on screen right now, and I'm going to

send out all the details for how to enter to win that to my mailing list.

So if you sign up at the link right down below, you'll get an email telling you what you

have to do.

So let me know in a comment right down below which project was your favorite.

And if you watched the entire video, it's not going to be a flamingo party this time,

no, we're going to the popsicle party.

So if you're still watching, leave me a comment saying that you are at the popsicle

party and then I'll know that you're just the coolest person ever for watching my entire

video.

Be sure to check out the first video with more crafts to do when you're bored, which

I'm gonna link on screen in just a minute, and I'll see you guys next time.

L'AFFILLARD (1705) ON THE TEMPI OF FRENCH COURT DANCES - Duration: 11:56.

Welcome again to this study room with Lorenz Gadient in Ingolstadt, Germany.

Today you are going to talk about L'Affilard, which is probably a source you are not familiar with.

Lorenz, please tell us about him and why his source is so important.

I am very lucky to be able to present the original. An edition of the year 1705

L'Affilard was a court dancer: "Ordinaire de la musique du Roi".

He was a musician at the king's court, responsible for court dances etc.

His book was published by the famous publisher "Balard".

"Principes très facile pour bien apprendre la musique" - "Very easy principles for a good way to learn music".

And he does it by presenting all the familiar court dances.

He shows how to use the agréments - the musical ornamentations -

And the dance pieces are all presented with small texts - small arias.

You can sing the pieces and the texts inform you about the musical character of the dance.

This is very interesting

And the year 1705 is very interesting for us.

This book of principles must have been very popular, since in the year 1705 two editions were published.

I have the first edition and Mr. Miehling is referring to the second edition of the same year in his book.

This shows that this book has been widely distributed and very popular.

Is there a difference between the first and the second edition?

Hardly any difference, but the explication of the mentioned duration times of the pendulum's swing is missing.

He does not give the lenght of the pendulum or the value of the note to which he is referring

But with a small bow he indicates to how many parts of the bar the time indication is referring.

And these time indications are very interesting - they are "tièrces" - Terzen.

So, for example you can see here the number 30 and a small bow on top of it.

The small bow in this case is referring to two half notes. The reference point is a half note.

And was this very common? He obviously invented this system.

And this small number "30" means, 30 1/60 seconds - meaning half a second.

The second is also being divided into 60 parts.

There are three time divisions of the hour; the first is the "minute", the second is the "second" and the third is the "tièrce".

So, it is not divided by three but it is just the third division. Simple, if you know....

Thus, 30 "tièrces" are 30/60 seconds or 1/2 a second.

Now the question is, what does he mean by this? Mr. Miehling says that the time indication is obvious.

30 tièrces are half a second - full stop - end of discussion.

However, I discovered that in these pieces the breathing signs are very revealing.

L'Affilard also uses breathing signs - and they are very small bows.

For example here on the lowest line - it almost looks like a dot; or here, or here....

Mr Miehling also noticed these breathing signs and shows them in his edition of these dances.

However, he has not put them into practice - he never tried whether they really work,

whether they make sense or not, whether they are necessary or not.

The author writes in his introduction that at these positions you have to breathe.

Yes, exactly, you have to breathe - you even should shorten the previous note and breathe.

Thus, the author does not put these signs randomly but wherever he considers them to be necessary.

Now we have a Gavotte here. Mr Miehling says it is clear, a half note is half a second. One bar, one second.

However, I am saying that the breathing signs reveal something different.

If you sing this piece in the tempo according to Mr Miehling's interpretation, every second breathing sign is unnecessary.

One second for the whole bar.

Now I sang without using this breathing sign.

Now I will sing with all the breathing signs as they are written here, then it sounds like this....

That is too much...

I can sing easily like this...

In a musical way this makes more sense.

If I sing it half as fast.....

...then it makes sense, then it is just right.

The author also gives a definition of what he understands as swing, as vibration.

A pendulum is a lead ball which hangs on a string. One hangs the string at some place and lets the ball go back and forth, which one calls swings/vibrations.

The problem is, that he should have written swing/vibration in the singular,

then it would have been clear that one vibration consits of a back swing and a forth swing.

But he writes about vibrations in the plural and also of the swings back and forth in the plural.

Thus it is not clear whether he means the single swings back or forth or one swing back and forth.

But in the same time and at the same publisher, Antoine Furetière has also published.

And L'Affilard and Furetière must surely have known each other.

And Furetière wrote a big encyclopedia

and he gives an exact definition of "vibration".

he writes, describing the vibration: "à droit et à gauche"

"à droit et à gauche" and not "de droit à gauche" which would mean a single swing/beat - as defined by the Académie Française

So you mean that Furetière's definition is much closer to L'Afilard's meaning than for example the Académie Française?

No, the definition by the Académie Française is 30 years later.

Thus it is obvious that L'Affilard also uses the term "vibration" in the sense of a double swing/beat.

Ok, it has been a long day but I have learned a lot and I hope you too.

If this is your first time here, there are several videos in this series and I will link them here.

Don't forget to subscribe if you want to stay on top of everything we do.

I am not only doing chats with Lorenz but I am also of the practical side - playing music.

But again, the theory behind all this is very important and I believe it is time to step out with the research

and to cover all the things we know, step by step.

Thank you again Lorenz and we see each other again for another chat. Thanks, bye.

Making a Nintendo Switch Case | DIY Tutorial - Duration: 6:52.

We needed a carrying case for the Nintendo Switch,

so I decided to see if I could make one myself.

I started by making the top and the bottom of the case.

I cut two plastic pieces to act as a protective layer inside the case, and I cut them slightly

bigger than the outer size of the Switch.

This will also be the shape and size of the case.

I then cut the fabric layers for the top and bottom, and first up are two layers of quilt

batting that are the same size as the plastic pieces.

Then I made a pattern for the other pieces by adding 1,5 centimeters of seam allowance

all the way around the sides.

For the outside layer, I cut a red and a white piece of water resistant fabric.

For the inside, I cut two layers of soft fleece fabric.

The top and the bottom are each a sandwich of the outer water resistant layer, the protective

plastic, the quilt batting and the inner fleece layer.

Before assembling the top and bottom, I added straps and pockets to the inside layers.

For the bottom piece, I cut four pieces of elastic, which will be connected in the middle

by velcro.

I used a lighter to finish the edges of the elastic, and then I folded over a small edge

on each of the pieces and stitched it down.

I then stitched pieces of velcro to the elastic.

I checked where I wanted the straps to be placed and stitched them down to the sides

of the fleece.

For the top, I wanted a place to hold the controller straps, so I cut another piece

of elastic, folded over the edges and stitched them down, and I then attached the elastic

to the fleece.

I also want pockets to hold six game cartridges.

I figured out the configuration and I cut two pieces of elastic.

After folding the edges over and stitching them down, I pinned the pieces on the fleece

and sewed along the bottom and sides.

I then marked the size of the individual pockets and stitched lines to separate them.

Now I'm ready to assemble the top and the bottom.

To keep the plastic and the batting in place while I make the rest of the case, I'm using a

temporary spray adhesive that I have left over from when I made a quilt.

I sprayed the layers and sandwiched them all together.

First the fleece, then the batting, the plastic and finally the water resistant fabric.

I then sewed all the way around to keep everything in place.

To make the sides, I started by adding side pieces to the zipper.

I cut two 5 centimeter wide pieces of black water resistant fabric that are just as long

as the zipper.

I then placed the zipper right sides together on one of the strips and sewed all the way

along the edge.

I flipped the fabric over and top-stitched it down on the zipper to make it lie nice

and flat.

I used pinking shears to finish the edges of the fabric to prevent it from fraying.

I then repeated these steps on the other side of the zipper.

I cut a piece of black fleece and a piece of black water resistant fabric of the same size.

These pieces will form the back of the case, with the zipper forming the rest of the sides.

As an extra buffer I'm adding a layer of fleece to the inside of the sides.

I cut two strips of fleece that are 5 centimeters wide and can reach all the way around the case.

I folded them in half and stitched them down close to the edge.

I then placed them on the inside of the zipper, so that they completely cover the teeth, and

stitched them in place.

For the back, I put the outside piece of fabric right sides together with the zipper and stitched

it down.

Remember to go slow when you sew across a zipper to make sure you don't damage your

needle or your machine.

I then placed the fleece right sides together with the inside of the zipper and stitched

it down in the same place.

I cut off the excess fabric and zipper.

I measured the outside of the case pattern to make the sides to size.

I marked the correct length and cut the zipper to the right size.

I then folded the ends of the back inside and placed the zipper end in between, making

a full circle.

I stitched it down close to the edge.

Now I'm ready to assemble the case.

I used clips to attach the side to the top, right sides together.

Along the way, it started pulling itself into its 3D shape.

I sewed all the way around, following the 3D shape as best as I could.

Now it's really starting to look like something!

I folded the nylon binding around the inside seam to cover it up and to give the case some strength.

I sewed it in place all the way around.

This step was pretty tricky, since the case was really holding on to that 3D shape now.

So I went slow and I made sure I sewed threw the binding on both sides.

A test fit showed it was all looking good, so I moved on to attaching the bottom in the

same way.

First, I clipped the pieces together and sewed them in place.

And then I added the binding.

The clips are really working great here, since there's no way I could've been able to stick pins

through all these thick layers of fabric.

Now I can flip the case the right side out.

And it's done!

And that's how I made my Nintendo Switch case.

Or actually, my husband's Nintendo Switch case.

But he's very happy with it.
