I am nervous.
Yes...
This photo is in Chimbote, my first football club in the first division in Peru.
I was 17 or 18 years old. That could be at training after I scored my first goal
because that's the training ground. I think I did an interview the next day
because I'd scored my first goal and then they would've taken the photo. That could be it, yes.
Next...
Oh, Allianza Lima. You could say - that is my team.
I was a fan of Alianza Lima from a very young age. After two years at Deportivo Pesquero I moved there.
I'd had an offer from the best team in Peru, but I decided to go with my heart.
I'd always wanted to play there from a young age. I think I scored
because I was happy and I was smiling. I think that's it.
Oh yes, that was a nice begining of my family.
That was at my son Claudio's birth – with a kit.
That's a nice picture. So yes, it's started, the 'Pizarro Dynasty' in Bremen.
My wife plays a big role.
She's always there when I have difficult periods. She's always there
and that's important. Now the children are grown up and can help as well.
They're an important factor in every decision that I make.
Yes,
here I'm at training with Giovane and Roy and there at the back is Willy Sagnol too.
That was my third or fourth year at Bayern I think. There's a collection of strikers there.
Giovane is a good friend of mine. I learnt a lot from him and he helped me a lot
when I first went to Bayern. We played a lot with Roy as well and we scored a lot of goals.
Yes, we had a very good team at that time. We challenged for the Bundesliga title almost every year.
That year we had a big lead at the top and had a great season.
A good time in my career.

That's a good memory with Jose Mourinho because it was very special
how he took me in and spoke to me at the start. I didn't know him.
We were travelling on the Bayern bus. We were playing cards on the way back
from an away game - it could have been Nuremberg or something I don't know
anyway we were travelling home, playing cards
and I get a phone call in the middle of our card game so I answer it and say 'Hello'.
He said, 'Yes, hello, it's Jose Mourinho here' and I thought 'Okaaay..' and I was at the table
and said 'Sorry I need to go into the kitchen, hang on a second'
so I went in the kitchen and spoke to him. He said to me, 'Yes Claudio,
I want you in my team and I'm very interested in signing you' and so on.
That was quite special for me that he rung me and told me directly that he wanted me
in his team. So obviously I phoned my agent immediately and told him
to get in touch and that's how it started. Then the season finished and I
had to go away with the national team and play a few games.
So I had a little bit more holiday than some of the others and they were training in the USA
while I was lying on the beach and I received a text message from him: "Yes
We played a friendly against Red Bull New York today and won 2-1
we're waiting for you and looking forward to you joining us."
So yeah, when a coach texts you something like that you think 'Wow, super!'
Next...
Ah in Hamburg yes of course. Yes we won in Hamburg twice in a row.
In the Bundesliga and then in the Pokal. They weren't happy. He spent a lot of time in the gym.
Goalkeepers are always a little bit different to other players
and I think they have to be different because if they're not different, then it doesn't work.
The goalie has to be a little bit crazy
and he certainly was.
So next...
Oh here's a very good trio. Very good players
and I must thank them because they gave me a lot of assists. They were
very important for me because they were the reason I scored so many goals. Mesut is now
at Arsenal and also plays very well for Germany and Diego is back
in Brazil. He's at Flamengo with Paulo Guerrero, my friend from
Peru. Yes, they were, they are very good players and I'm
very happy that I got to play with both of them.
Good...
That was the sad final in Istanbul. I think you learn from it, but when
you see the trophy, you're so close to it, but then you lose.
It still hurts, even when you're just looking at a photo.
But it happens. That's football.
You win some, you lose some.
Ah yes, here we won the Pokal and, of course, with Thomas.Nice picture and, as you
can see, I'm smiling and he's happy too, but that's his way
of being happy. But no we were excited because we won, but I think we have different
ways of showing our joy. That's how you remember Thomas Schaaf - very
serious, but I must thank him for what he did for me.
Yes, that is quite special. My national team captain. I think I scored a goal
in this game against Ecuador, I think, I'm not sure. But yes I always
celebrated like that when I was at Alianza Lima because my father was a navy officer
so I always used to celebrate like that. Then I returned to the national team
and didn't score so many goals as I did at the start so when I scored
I thought, 'Yes why not, I need to do it again.
Yes that... comes after...
That's from the celebrations after winning the Champions League, I took
part of the net to have as a memoir. That is quite special after winning the Champions League
to have a nice memoir. The ref gave it to the physios and then
I said, 'Give me that'. Yeah, I need it as a memoir. I have it at home.
I have a room with lots of pictures and lots of things from my career
I think that was my last year at Bayern, or? Two good friends of mine. One horse lover
and both very good friends in private.
Müller - I had a horse called Müller
But I didn't name it after him, rather Gerd Müller. That was a long time ago.
2004 I think that was.
Whenever we have time,
we meet up and chat about football, life, family, everything. There are
are a lot of people in the football world who say there are only colleagues, no real friendships,
but I don't agree. I think you spend more time with your teammates than with your family,
sometimes. So of course you need to have good relationships, good characters and there are
people who you meet who remain your friends forever. Both of them fall into that category.
Good. That's another good memory. As I said, I worked with Jose and with Pep.
He was one of the best coaches that I've worked with, if not the best.
He really
enthused us all in the team with his tactics and his style of football.
We didn't expect it, but when we played as he wanted us to play,
the football was very easy.
Yes, that was from the party in 2014, no 2015! Somebody saw me in Munich. I was
flying from Munich and somebody saw me and took a photo
and it was everywhere on the internet. The plane landed and I switched on my phone
and a friend of mine said, 'Good luck!' There were so many people in the airport,
you can't imagine it and someone told me that they'd seen the picture
of me online and I just went, 'Aaaah, now I know what's going on.' I already knew
that people would be there. It was nice.
One year I'll do another one and then we'll see.
You are welcome.
