North Korea stages mass rally denouncing United States - Duration: 1:49.
Following another escalation in the ongoing war of words between United States and North
Korea,... Pyongyang has staged a mass rally in support the country's leader.
This follows President Trump's speech at the UN,... where he vowed to totally destroy North
Korea... if it threatens the U.S. or its allies.
Yu Joonhee reports.
Tens of thousands of North Korean citizens... took to the streets of Pyongyang over the
weekend,.. armed with banners and slogans denouncing the United States.
A number of speeches were delivered by senior regime officials during the hour-long event,...
where they reiterated Kim Jong-un's message from the previous day.
In a rare statement given by the reclusive leader,... Kim vowed to take powerful countermeasures,...
in response to President Trump's recent address to the UN General Assembly.
Following that speech, where he labeled Kim as a "rocket man" on a suicide mission,...
Trump dialed up the rhetoric once more over the weekend,... warning that North Korea "won't
be around much longer"... if stays on its current path.
The U.S. Air Force flew two B-1B Lancers above waters east of North Korea over the weekend,...
demonstrating its range of military options against the regime's threats.
It was, according to the Pentagon, the farthest north of the DMZ that *any U.S. fighter jet
or a bomber has flown in the 21st century.
Pyongyang's propaganda machine,... took little time to deliver a counter-punch... releasing
photoshopped images... of the same type of U.S. aircraft being shot down by North Korean
missiles.
Another falsified video... showed the American aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson exploding
into flames,... after being attacked by a North Korean submarine.
Observers fear the escalating rhetoric between North Korea and the U.S.,... is pushing the
two countries closer to the brink of military conflict.

White House issues updated travel ban; N. Koreans will be completely banned from entering U.S. - Duration: 1:48.
Our starting point this afternoon are the Trump administration's new travel restrictions.
The White House has expanded its travel ban to citizens from North Korea, Venezuela and
Chad as well as five other countries on the previous blacklist.
It means North Korean nationals will be completely banned from entering the United States when
the ban takes effect.
Connie Kim has more.
Eight countries will be facing new entry restrictions to the U.S. under a proclamation signed by
President Trump on Sunday.
The White House is slapping travel bans on citizens from North Korea, Venezuela and Chad
expanding the initial list of travel restrictions on Iran, Libya, Syria, Yemen and Somalia.
Restrictions on citizens from Sudan have been lifted.
The restrictions vary from full travel bans on nationals from countries like Syria and
North Korea to more targeted restrictions for Venezuela.
The proclamation reads that Trump as the president must protect the security and interests of
the United States and its people.
The announcement comes on the day President Trump's temporary ban on visitors from six
Muslim-majority countries was set to expire.
The new list has extra significance as it has broadened the restrictions to socialist
countries like North Korea and Venezuela.
While an administration official acknowledged the small number of North Koreans traveling
to the U.S.,… the proclamation said North Korea does not cooperate with the American
government in any respect and fails to satisfy all information-sharing requirements.
The new restrictions are slated to take effect on October 18th.
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments on October 10th on whether the current ban
discriminates against Muslims in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

0925 King Jeongjo's visit to royal tomb perfectly reenacted in 222 years - Duration: 2:48.
A reenactment of King Jeongjo's tomb parade was held over the weekend in the capital Seoul,...
Thousands of citizens followed in the footsteps of the 18th century king's historic visit
to his father's tomb from Seoul to Hwaseong.
Our Kim Mok-yeon went to check it out... and filed this report.
It's the 21st century, but for thousands of Koreans this weekend was back to the Joseon
Dynasty.
The royal procession of King Jeongjo to honor his father was perfectly reenacted for the
first time in 222 years.
King Jeongjo was Joseon's 22nd monarch, and he played a major role in restoring and reforming
Korea's central government.
This year's event, on the sidelines of the Suwon Hwaseong cultural festival, reenacted
King Jeongjo's visit to the tomb of his father, Crown Prince Sado, in 1795,... a procession
which took nearly 8 days.
The trip was marked as historically significant because King Jeongjo's procession was the
largest one ever seen, and when they arrived in Hwaseong he also hosted a lavish banquet
to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Queen Haekyunggung Hong.
This gesture has since been regarded by Koreans as an outstanding example of filial piety.
(KOREAN) "I came to see this historic event with my
family.
Because King Jeongjo's procession highlights his love for his parents, I hope my children
can learn a lot from it and not only think about us, but also about their grandparents."
[STAND UP] What's extra special about this year's event
is that it will be the first time the parade will go the full 59.2 kilometers from Seoul
to Hwaseong in Gyeonggi-do province.
Last year, the reenactment ended in Suwon, but this year, we will be able to see King
Jeongjo visit Yungneung, his father's tomb.
As the parade reached the Janganmun Gate on its final leg, some 16 teams of participants
who tagged along with the procession demonstrated all kinds of performances including folk games,
martial art performances, and even a huge flashmob.
Some 4,600 people participated in this year's event, together with nearly 700 horses, which
is nearly double the figures of last year.
The organizers said this time they tried to encourage citizen participation, as they received
more than 200 citizen voluteers who wanted to take on major roles in the parade, including
those of King Jeongjo and his mother.
(KOREAN) "We were finally able to fulfill King Jeongjo's
dreams together.
We were able to show how active public participation can convey hope and creativity."
During the finale, Suwon city Mayor Yeom Tae-young thanked all those who made the event possible
and pledged all out efforts to develop the event and make it more fruitful in the coming
years.

North Korea-China trade volume increases on-year despite strong global sanctions against regime - Duration: 1:39.
Despite unprecedented UN sanctions on North Korea over its continual missile and nuclear
provocations,... the regime's trade volume with its largest ally, China, has soared on-year.
Kim Hyo-sun reports.
Despite tough international sanctions against North Korea,... which has conducted twelve
missile tests in 2017 alone,... it's been found that the volume of trade between the
regime and its ally, China, has spiked on-year.
Citing data from China's General Administration of Customs,...
Japan's Sankei Shimbun reported Sunday that Beijing's shipments to Pyongyang stood at
two-point-two-eight billion U.S. dollars during the first eight months of this year,... up
more than 25 percent compared to the previous year.
North Korea's exports to China, on the other hand,... shrank 13-and-a-half percent,...
due largely to China's ban on North Korean coal products that took effect in February.
Despite the drop,... overall trade volume was up seven-point-five percent on-year.
Many say, therefore,... that the UN Security Council's continued international sanctions
against the North are ineffective when it comes to curbing transactions between Beijing
and Pyongyang.
However,... this may no longer be true as China has slapped an import ban on North Korean
iron ore and seafood since late August.
It's also limiting supplies of petroleum products to Pyongyang and imports of textiles from
the country,... under the latest UN sanctions that were adopted after the regime's sixth
nuclear test.

Merkel wins fourth term but loses support - Duration: 1:43.
Angela Merkel has won a fourth term as German Chancellor, with her conservative party regaining
the largest number of seats in parliament.
However, it's a sour victory for Europe's longest serving leader as a lot of her old
support was eroded by a surging far-right party.
Ro Aram reports While Merkel's CDU/CSU alliance remains the largest party in the Bundestag,
projections show her conservative bloc winning some 33 percent of the vote, which is a record
low for them.
That's mainly due to the increasing support for the anti-immigration Alternative for Germany,
or AfD, which won nearly 13 percent of the vote.
The far-right party will have seats in parliament for the first time and will be the third largest
force.
The AfD's victory sparked some protests, with dozens of demonstrators gathering outside
the party's headquarters in Berlin, holding placards reading "refugees are welcome".
Merkel's main Social Democrat rivals also scored their worst result since World War
Two at just over 20 percent.
As the results were announced, Merkel, who has been in office for twelve years, said
she would work to win back supporters.
(German) Reuters Edit No7026 "…We will carry out a profound analysis
because we want to win back the voters of the AfD by solving problems and listening
to their worries and sometimes their fears, but above all through good politics."
With the Social Democrats ruling out a coalition with Merkel's party, she now has the tough
challenge of trying to join forces with the Free Democrats and the Greens.
A coalition must have at least half the seats in the Bundestag in order to form a government.

NFL players rally in solidarity against Trump - Duration: 2:31.
In the U.S.,...
Hundreds of NFL players are demonstrating against President Trump,... who slammed teams
that kneeled during the playing of the national anthem.
Trump doubled down on his earlier remarks on Sunday, urging fans to boycott the NFL
as long as the protests continued.
Our Park Hee-jun brings us more.
NFL players have responded in full force,...after President Trump swore, using profanity, at
those who protested during the national anthem.
(English) "Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL
owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, 'Get that sone of a bitch off the
field right now.
He's fired, he's FIRED'"
On Sunday, hundreds of NFL players knelt and linked arms,...even staying off the field,
to protest Trump's call to boycott teams and fire players that refused to stand during
the national anthem.
(English) "It's very disrespect to our flag and to our
country, so I certainly think the owners should do something about it.
There was great solidarity, I watched a little bit - I was not watching the games today,
believe me, I was doing other things -- but I watched a little bit and I will say that
there was tremendous solidarity for our flag and for our country"
President Trump has been uploading tweet after tweet to criticize those who disrespect the
United States and the flag,... saying the offenders should be suspended or even fired.
There are mixed opinions among the public.
While some are sympathetic to the players' cause, others see it as disrespectful to the
country and the military who have sacrificed their lives to defend the nation.
(English) UNIDENTIFIED WOMAN "No, they're doing what they want to do
if somebody wants to kneel down, okay, kneel down.
It's our country we have the right to do what we want."
(English) STEELERS FAN RICK MATUSAK SAYING: "It's just the fact that, we live in America
and you respect our country respect our flag and respect what everybody, all of our, service
men have gone (through) for a whole life they protected our country and then to disrespect
our country with all the turmoil and stuff that's going on is just not right."
Critics of the president say his actions are attacks on freedom of speech.
Trump's stance of galvanizing players, teams, and the league in expressing what they see
is right, has highlighted the deep political rift the administration has exposed across
American society.

1,300 individuals and entities on S. Korea financial blacklist related to nuclear weapons and.. - Duration: 0:42.
It's been revealed that some 13-hundred individuals and entities have been blacklisted from financial
and real estate activities in South Korea... for actions related to nuclear weapons development
and international terrorism.
The list includes North Korean state officials, as well as individuals from terrorist groups
such as Al-Qaeda.
It was compiled by Seoul, and includes those on the UN sanctions list, as well as those
identified by the U.S. in their own unilateral sanctions.
However, Kim Jong-un and his family members are not on the list.
There have been calls for them to be included, but there are concerns it could cause difficulties
for future dialogue.

Pyongyang sends open letter to nations to denounce Trump's UN remarks - Duration: 0:54.
North Korea has sent an open letter to parliaments around the world,... calling on for their
support to denounce President Trump's aggressive rhetoric at last week's UN General Assembly.
The regime's foreign affairs committee released the details of the letter on its state-run
media on Monday, describing Trump's remarks that the U.S. could "totally destroy" North
Korea as reckless and insulting.
It called on all countries that "love independence, peace and justice" to fulfill their duty to
maintain these values... and remain vigilant of the U.S. President's actions.
The letter warned that Trump's words were a big miscalculation that could lead to nuclear
war.
It also added the mission of the committee is to promote friendly relations with all
parliaments and peace-loving people around the world.
