Top 10 Foods That Are Banned In The US | Toplists - Duration: 11:17.Top 10 Foods That Are Banned In The US.
Americans love their food, and they are able to buy (almost) anything imaginable at restaurants,
farms, markets, and other stores, but some foods are currently banned.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has banned many foods from being sold or eaten
in the United States due to their not being safe for consumption.
Here is a list of the top ten foods that are surprisingly banned in the US.
10.
Haggis.
Haggis is a type of pudding composed of the liver, heart, and lungs of a sheep, mixed
with beef and oatmeal and seasoned with onions, cayenne peppers, and other spices.
This mixture is then packed into a sheep's stomach and boiled.
Haggis is the national dish of Scotland and is usually accompanied by turnips and mashed
potatoes.
Haggis is currently banned from being imported into the United States.
In 1971, the US banned all foods that are made from animal lungs.
Scotland has made several efforts to influence the US into lifting the ban on haggis and
changing federal food safety regulations, but they have come up short each time.
9.
Beluga Caviar.
The beluga sturgeon is the largest of the sturgeons, weighing more than 900 kilograms
(2,000 lb) and measuring more than 4.5 meters (15 ft) long.
It can take up to 25 years for the female beluga to mature and produce eggs.
Beluga caviar varies in color from light to dark grey and is the largest-grain caviar.
Their pearls are the most delicate and have a mild, buttery flavor. In 2005, the United
States banned beluga caviar from further import due to overfishing.
The US was consuming about 60 percent of the world's beluga caviar, which is considered
the king of caviar due to costing $200 per ounce.
Beluga caviar was so desirable that the available stock declined by 90 percent.
Overfishing of the beluga can be traced back to poaching and the black market.
8.
Unpasteurized Milk.
Unpasteurized milk, or raw milk, is milk that comes directly from an animal's udder and
hasn't been heat-treated, or pasteurized, to kill any bacteria.
Raw milk carries a higher risk of being contaminated with harmful bacteria that cause foodborne
illnesses than pasteurized milk.
Children are at a higher risk for these diseases because their immune systems have not yet
fully developed. The FDA banned the interstate sale or distribution of raw milk in the US,
but states are able to adopt their own laws of the sale of raw milk.
Drinking and consuming unpasteurized milk is legal in all 50 states, but 20 states prohibit
the sale of raw milk.
Thirteen states allow the sales of raw milk in retail stores, and 17 allow the sale of
raw milk only on the farm in which it was produced.
There is currently a movement in the United States to consume organic and locally grown
foods.
Some believe that raw milk is more nutritious and provides "good bacteria" for the body.
Many of the states that allow the selling of raw milk require a warning label informing
consumers about the risk of pathogens that can be found in the milk.
7.
Sassafras Oil.
Sassafras oil is extracted from the dried root bark of the sassafras tree.
The tree stands anywhere from 6 to 12 meters (20–40 ft) tall, with slender branches and
orange- and brown-colored bark.
The leaves are oval and can grow 8 to 18 centimeters (3–7 in) long, and the flowers are small
and of a greenish or yellow color. Many Native American tribes used sassafras for various
medicinal purposes, including to help with acne, urinary disorders, and fevers.
Sassafras can also be found in Chinese medications to help treat rheumatism and trauma.
The twigs from the plants were once used as toothbrushes, and sassafras was also used
as an early anesthetic and disinfectant.
Sassafras was found in many distinct foods in the US, and it was known as a key ingredient
in many root beers and teas.
The FDA prohibits all sassafras bark, oil, and safrole as flavorings or food additives.
Sassafras is no longer considered safe for human consumption, and it was banned in 1979,
after research linked it to cancer.
Also, when too much sassafras oil is consumed, poisoning can possibly occur.
6.
Ortolan.
The ortolan is a bird in the bunting family of Emberizidae.
It is a tiny songbird that weighs less than an ounce.
This bird was once a controversial meal in France and is cooked for eight minutes and
served with the head attached.
The bird is meant to be eaten whole, including the head and bones.
Killing and selling the ortolan was banned in France in the 1990s, but poachers continued
to catch the small bunting and sell it to local restaurants.
France's League for the Protection of Birds claimed that the ortolan population dropped
30 percent even after the ban, forcing the government to enact more stringent enforcement
in 2007.The killing of the rare bird is less controversial than the barbaric way in which
it is killed.
These birds are trapped during their migratory season and kept in covered cages.
The ortolan eats more at night, so the covering the cages will encourage them to gorge on
grain, to the point where their bodies double in size.
It is said that ancient emperors would pluck out the birds' eyes, tricking them to thinking
it was night so that they would eat more.
The ortolans are ultimately thrown alive into a vat of Armagnac, which both drowns and marinates
them.
France now strictly enforces the ban on killing ortolans.
The killing, cooking, or smuggling of the bird anywhere in the European Union or the
United States is currently a crime.
5.
Casu Marzu.
Casu marzu, translated into English, means "rotten cheese," and if the rotten part
isn't already bad enough, it's also known as "maggot cheese."
This Sardinian cheese is typically soaked in brine, smoked, and left to ripen in a cheese
cellar.
Then cheese makers set it outside uncovered, allowing cheesing flies to lay eggs inside
it.The eggs hatch into maggots, which start feeding on the cheese.
They produce enzymes that promote fermentation and cause fats within the cheese to decompose.
The cheese becomes supersoft and leaves a burn on the tongue when eaten.
Local Sardinians say the cheese is only good when the maggots are still moving.
If the maggots are dead, then the cheese has gone bad and is too toxic for consumption.Casu
marzu is not in compliance with European Union hygienic standards and has been declared illegal.
It is also illegal in the United States because it is unpasteurized and has more than six
mites per square inch.
(The microscopic bugs live on the surface of aged cheese.)
4.
Shark Fins.
The act of shark finning was deemed illegal by the United States.
Finning, the act of cutting off a shark's fin, is one of the greatest threats that sharks
face.
After a shark is finned, it is thrown back in the sea, where it may drown, bleed to death,
or be eaten by other animals.
There is a large market for shark fins to make shark fin soup, which is a popular and
luxurious Asian dish.
Shark fins are very popular in Asia and can be found in food stores, pharmacies, and fishing
villages.
The demand for the shark fins has led to sharks being targeted solely for their fins, but
don't expect to try that soup in the US anytime soon.
3.
Ackee Fruit.
Ackee appears to be a very delightful and delicious fruit, but one must be very careful
before eating.
If the fruit is improperly eaten, it can cause vomiting or even lead to a coma or death.
In Jamaica, the harmful effects of ackee fruit are known as Jamaican Vomiting Sickness. The
ackee fruit's protective pod turns red and naturally opens, revealing the edible portion,
which is the yellow arilli that surround the toxic black seeds.
The fruit can be tried in Jamaica paired with codfish, which is a popular national dish. The
ackee fruit is originally native to West Africa but was brought to Jamaica in 1778.
It is Jamaica's national fruit.
The FDA banned all ackee but would later allow the sales of frozen or canned ackee.
The import of fresh ackee is still banned.
2.
Mirabelle Plum.
The mirabelle plum is the small, oval-shaped, and dark yellow fruit grown on a mirabelle
plum tree.
It is known to be sweet and full of flavor and is used in fruit preserves and dessert
pies.
The fruit can mostly be found in France, where 70 percent of the world's mirabelle production
occurs.
The production of the mirabelle plum has been supported since 1996 by a Protected Geographical
Indication to help guarantee is authenticity.
It has been promoted as a high-quality regional product, and the protected origin designation
makes it almost impossible to get this fruit into the US.
1.
Kinder Surprise Chocolate Eggs.
Kinder Surprise Chocolate Eggs are a widely popular candy sold across the world—except
in the United States.
There are more than 3.5 billion Kinder Surprise Eggs sold each year, with no help from US
markets.
The Kinder Surprise Egg is a hollow chocolate egg that holds a plastic capsule which contains
a toy.
The toy is usually a simple collectible, like a tiny bike or a miniature beach bucket and
pail.
Kinder Surprise Eggs have always been illegal in the Unites States.
A 1938 regulation made it illegal to sell any candy that contains a non-nutritive object.
Despite efforts to import the chocolate egg into the US, the federal government has continued
its ban and recalled the item each time it was introduced.
If you haven't been lucky enough to try it yet, don't worry, because Kinder just
announced this May that they will be selling a similar chocolate egg in the US market!Kinder
will introduce the Joy Egg, which is a more recent version that separates the toy from
the chocolate, as it is comprised of two sealed halves.
The new egg meets FDA regulations and is compliant with the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
It won't be exactly the same as the Kinder Surprise, but fans across the US will be able
to get their fix.

How Much Money Is Space Worth? - Duration: 3:15.Hey there!
Welcome to Life Noggin.
Space exploration has taught us a lot about the stars, our universe, and even our own
planet.
But what if space could make you rich?
There are some elements up in space that are very valuable here on Earth.
Many are found inside asteroids and could be worth billions or trillions of dollars
if we could mine them.
The most expensive are platinum-group metals, which are rare on Earth but necessary for
high-tech devices and electronics.
Scientists think that some asteroids contain more platinum-group metals than are in all
the Earth's reserves.
One asteroid that passed us in 2015 likely contained 90 million metric tons of these
metals… worth up to 5 trillion dollars.
You can also find iron, nickel, and cobalt in certain asteroids.
But the most valuable item might be water.
It's really expensive to ship water up to space — just 16 ounces costs a whopping
2500 dollars.
If there was a reliable source up above the stratosphere, it would have a lot of uses.
Water is necessary for the cooling systems on the International Space Station, and it
could potentially be used as a radiation shield for astronauts.
But the most lucrative use is to split it into hydrogen and oxygen… the basic elements
of rocket fuel.
This would essentially turn a water-filled asteroid into a space gas station, allowing
vehicles to refuel and venture farther away.
Another potential source of water is our neighbor, the moon.
And the moon has other valuable elements as well.
It contains Helium 3, which is extremely rare on Earth but could potentially be used in
nuclear fusion reactors, if we can get fusion to work on our planet.
The total value of the moon's resources has been estimated at between 150 and 500
QUADRILLION dollars.
Yep, QUADRILLION.
Although space mining isn't easy, it's definitely possible, and several companies
are currently working out how to do it.
An asteroid's gravity is too weak to hold down a spacecraft, so the goal is to dock
with it like a vehicle docks with the Space Station.
The real challenge is to figure out which asteroids are worth going to.
There are roughly 1500 candidates nearby, but they can be faint and hard to detect from
Earth.
Infrared technology helps tell us what's them, but it's difficult to know if the
readings are accurate.
Also, even though an asteroid's gravity isn't strong, it can still mess with spacecraft.
Unlike the round moon, asteroids have irregular shapes, making their gravitational pull vary
depending on where you are.
Getting around these "humps" will take some work.
Still, at least one company thinks that they will be extracting water from asteroids by
about 2027.
And NASA's Resource Prospector mission wants to be the first to mine the moon, with the
hopes of launching a craft in the early 2020s.
Whether or not they're successful, there's still money to be made indirectly from space.
Many of the technologies developed for space programs have had other uses in our daily
lives.
NASA's advancements have led to smartphone cameras, memory foam, MRI and CAT scans, and
even a key ingredient in infant formula.
So if you want to make money off space exploration, maybe the easiest way is to just stay here
on Earth.
Do you think we should mine in space?
Is it worth it?
Let me know in the comments below.

Abandoned Railroad Removed Before and After - Duration: 4:08.Hello ladies and gentlemen,
Today I'm going to show you guys
the site of where an atrocity was committed.
In this very land that you see before you today.
In 2008,
they pulled out the rails
of this abandoned railroad I'm going to show you guys.
Okay guys so I'm
here at SW 60th ST.
Miami, FL.
This is
the West Bound view
and this
is the East Bound view.
so
At this very site, there was a
railroad crossing
and here you can see
some evidence.
This perhaps was
well this probably was
used as a fence of some sorts to keep people out.
But yeah here you can see
that it belonged
I don't know if
I think FEC sold this land
to the county and they're going to build a trail here.
But this is what it looks like now
You're going to use that pine tree as a reference point.
And this is what it looked like back then.
okay
and then
This would be the South side of the crossing right.
Now let me show you the North side of the crossing.
Here we still see
one piece of
actually a couple piece of evidence
This was where the crossing gate once stood.
There you see the cut wires.
and the
that's where the 4 screws went that held it in place.
And then this is the North bound view.
I also have a before picture of this one.
I'm actually going to show you
where the relay case was.
Well now it's kind of like a recycling bin.
or trash can.
And the relay case was somewhere over here.
And yeah so here is the before pciture of this one.
This was in 2004.
Nice right?
So yeah ladies and gentlemen, this is
the very spot where
that atrocity was committed.
There's also no pavement markings.
either
West bound or East bound.
No pavement markings at all.
Just an FYI, this was the FEC track that
came from
the Miami International Airport about 10 or so miles
North
and it connected
to
US 1, the mainline
on
that ran parallel to US 1 over there
and went to
what later became known as the Oversea Railway
So
Once they installed the Metro Rail
which is the Mass Transit system used in Miami
no train
came pretty much
to this point
after 1984
because it was installed in 1984
As you can see this is a residential area
so there was no need for a train to come here.
The next customer down the line
would have been at
44th ST.
it was a
truss company or lumber yard, something of that nature.
And yeah, that one went down in 2004
Alright guys, please subscribe or like. Thank you very much for viewing.
Take care, over and out.

(Airsoft) HK45 Tactical Tokyo Marui - Duration: 5:32.Thanks to them !
Video about the HK45 "Tactical" Tokyo Marui, a "tactical" variant of the already existing HK45 from Tokyo Marui
The "tactical" variant comes with a threaded barrel, a FDE frame, an ambidextrous safety, a silencer and a different rear sight
For now, it's only available with a FDE body, maybe other colors will be available in the futur...
The silencer itself is mostly here for the look, the gun is loud even with the silencer
It's not like a NBB Marui MK23 (for example), which is silent mostly because the slide doesn't move when you shoot the gun
The silencer (made of metal) puts a bit more weight on the external barrel, which slightly increase the gas consumption
But the gun still works fine with the silencer, the slide cycles just as fine with a fast and crisp blowback
And as usual with Marui, there is a nice kick, good out of the box performance, good cool down resistance, etc
About 275 FPS (Gas Abbey Ultra Predator, bbs 0.20 ATM, room temperature 20°C)
Test at 20 meters using Abbey Predator Ultra gas, 0.25 ATM bbs (temperature is 21°C) (note that the silencer is fixed on the gun)
No problem, despite the wind
It's still usable at 25 meters... The silencer doesn't perturb the bbs trajectory
This is what the sights look like
Now a whole magazine as fast as possible... No problem !
The finish is quite nice, even if personally I don't like the FDE color which I find too clear
The ambidextrous "paddle" mag release, typical from H&K
Note that if the paddle is pressed only very briefly, the magazine will stay blocked inside the grip ; it makes it hard to accidentally lose your magazine
Ambidextrous slide stop, ambidextrous safety (you can put it whether the hammer is armed or not) which also works as a decocker
The silencer which comes with the gun (thread is 16 mm CW), there is foam inside
I really like its look, not too big not too small
The slide cycle doesn't seem to change, it doesn't "feel heavy" like it happens sometimes when you put a silencer on a GBB
The gun also comes with a ring protection if you don't want to use the silencer
You can adjust the hop up directly through the ejection port
Otherwise, you'll have to disassembly the slide (remove the magazine and the slide stop lever)
Note the "actual" slide stop is internal ; it's a bit less realistic but it won't damage the slide
Finally, the gun comes with a 2nd backstrap for the grip, a smaller one
To install it you just need to remove a pin (also note the easy access to the hammer spring)
Thanks for watching !

It won't go through to me, ah I'm not that easy, ah

It's not a lie, no no But I'm hiding my heart just enough, oh yeah Hey, baby
In the darkness With all the lights off
I've hidden my shadow I can't be tied down
To some place tonight My face has changed
My heart is moving But my camouflage will hide it (Ooh)
I still don't know, yeah My own heart (Ooh)
The thick colors of the camouflage Cover up the new world that'll surprise me (Ooh)
The purple light that's like loneliness, uh huh
The black light that never has a flaw
They're mixed together as it wraps around, oh me oh
I've thoroughly hidden my truth
But I discovered something deep inside my emotions
The one answer that my experience has taught me, oh yeah And baby
In the darkness With all the lights off
I've hidden my shadow I can't be tied down

My heart is moving But my camouflage will hide it (Ooh)
I still don't know, yeah My own heart (Ooh)

Yeah, look more carefully for me, yeah Look more carefully (Ooh)
Out of all the images of me That countlessly changed
There's only one that is for you The hidden camouflage (Ooh)
Come to me seriously, yeah Come (Ooh)
With the color that resembles you My camouflage gets lighter (Ooh)
Yeah, look more carefully for me, yeah Look more carefully
