I love this question that someone texted me recently.
They said, "What do you suggest to people so they're not overwhelmed by reading the Bible?"
If you ever tried to read the Bible cover-to-cover,
I mean, we've got to tell God that this is not the easiest book to read.
And it's true.
Someone once said the Bible is kind of like the ocean.
There are parts of it that are so deep,
that the most skilled expert divers can't get to the bottom of it.
And there are parts that are so shallow
that a little toddler can splash and laugh and enjoy the water as well.
One of the problems of reading the Bible cover-to-cover
is that you get all of it.
You get the shallow things like God loves you,
and you get the deep doctrines that go over your head,
and the names that you can't pronounce.
So, what advice would I give to someone?
I would say two things.
Number one is to come in with good expectations.
Don't expect to understand everything.
Why are they killing animals in the book of Leviticus?
Why is there a special tabernacle or tent?
Who are the apostles and what's a eunuch?
Feel free to write down all the questions that you have,
but don't feel bad if you don't get it.
God's just building a great foundation for the rest of your life.
And the second thing I would say
is to rely on the "We" version.
You know what I mean by that?
There's a really popular Bible app called the "YouVersion."
Millions and millions of people have downloaded it.
But what I like to call the "We version" is when you read the Bible,
not just by yourself,
but in community with other people.
So, as you're reading through and say,
"I don't get this," and "I have no clue who that is,"
ask your questions to someone at your church,
your pastor, your small group, people that are a little bit further down the road.
They would love to share the knowledge that God has taught them with you.
But in the end, I want you to read the Bible.
And here's why.
Jesus said this is the book that talks about him.
Romans 10 says that faith comes from hearing this message.
In this next year, working through the Bible might be really difficult.
And you might get 2% of it.
But if you stick with it,
for the rest of your life you will have a source of power, a source of hope,
source of peace.
And the number one thing the devil wants to do
is disconnect you from the outlet of God's power
so that for the rest of your life you don't have anything that endures forever.
So stick with it.
Don't give up.
Have good expectations.
Rely on those around you.
And believe what God said,
that every word that comes from his mouth will not return empty,
but will achieve the purpose for which he sent it.
God bless you as you get to know God in this book.
If you're comfortable reading the Bible, help us.
So many people feel overwhelmed when they first open God's Word.
So what did you do and how did you learn?
How did you grasp the basics of the scripture so that you came to enjoy it
instead of being overwhelmed by it?
Comment below so that we can teach one another
and we'll see you next time.

HIROSHIMA STREET FOOD - Miyajima Island | Hiroshima, Japan | Food and travel channel - Duration: 11:09.
We're on Miyajima island- there's a beautiful torii gate, deer roaming
around and a whole heap of delicious food to sample- let's go and see what we
can find
one of the things you've got to try when you're on Miyajima Island is eel
so we've found this stall which sells steamed eel buns.
It's piping hot and
the bun is so soft so it's filled with vegetables and sea eel and we've heard it's got a
bit of spice. Mmm the bun is just really plain, simple, the eel is minced
and it's got some pickled vegetables in it. It's a very subtle flavor-I think I'm going to need
another bite. Mmmmm really really light, you can taste that little hint of spice. The pickled
vege- it's really good. Mmmm I love eel and this ticks all the boxes, it's very light
like Sheena said, eel's a pretty subtle flavor, it's got a nice fishiness just
subtle fishiness, the vege adds a little bit of crunch, there's some I
think bamboo and some cabbage maybe some onions or something the bun's really soft
really well steamed so it's just like a steamed pork bun which is one like
pretty much most people's favorite, it's just the most stunning thing this is exactly the same
principle but with this eel mixture inside so it's really good. Like a pork bun
it's got that sort of slight sauciness going on and a little bit of
sweetness I'm picking up- that's really really good
another thing to try when you're on Miyajima island or in Hiroshima in general
are oysters because Hiroshima produces about 80% of Japan's oysters. Look at how plump they
are. These are just plain grilled oysters I've added a bit of lemon. Whoooaaa.
Wow so creamy, super fresh that is epic. I really love cooked oysters as
well as raw oysters, my grandma used to always steam them in an egg
custard so I have really fond memories of cooked oysters
and that was a damn fine one. Look at the size of this thing
like it's almost as big as my hand it's absolutely incredible and like Sheena
said it 's so plump I'm going to add some lemon. Alright so just a dribble of lemon
grab a pick
Wow look at the size of that thing, it's so meaty and because it's been grilled it's
kind of holding together it's holding its shape it's not really slimy like a
fresh oyster
Wow if you're not into oysters, you wouldn't be into this because it definitely
taste like an oyster. It's so good because it's been cooked it's really
firm, not firm in a chewy way just how it holds together was really nice in the
mouth wow, I've never had an oyster like that I've never really had many cooked
oysters before to be honest we're from New Zealand and the really famous oyster
from New Zealand is the Bluff oyster which you you always have raw, well you don't
but you should always have raw because it's just heaven so really haven't had many
cooked ones. This is damn good and the fact that you can have it in a couple of
bites that shows how big this oyster is. Really really good. Arigatou gozaimasu.
Miyajima is also the birthplace of the rice scoop and they have the world's
largest rice scoop. Miyajima Island rice scoops are known for scooping up
happiness, victory and good fortune- fun fact! The most famous dessert on Miyajima
island is momiji-manju a maple leaf shaped cake with filling inside
traditionally it's red bean but you can also get custard, cheese, chocolate,
green tea all sorts I've got custard here to try
it's so nice and soft it's a sponge cake really well it feel like it.
Mmm and it's just simple custard filling, very sweet but the perfect size to
satiate your sugar craving and it's really neat because the street is just
lined with all these shops which are making the Momiji Manju in the window
so you can see the batter being poured into the press and the press going down and
it's really neat . This is great. I'm going to try the red bean version I love
red bean I think it's great it's often too sweet Very tasty- the
red bean is um quite gluggy not like the custard the custard one was really like
silky and sticky almost this is like Sheena said sponge cake, really basic
sponge cake, the red bean paste is very sweet
like tingling in my mouth sweet which I don't particularly love to be totally
honest but anything like that like this sorry is going to be like that so when it's
this size it's really good because it's kind of the right portion and it's really tasty.
And I love too how much filling there is they don't skimp on the filling you
gotta hate it when they just fill you up with sponge cake. That's a really
interesting snack. We couldn't resist this green tea one because the packaging
was so beautiful this one's from another store. Japan does presentation so well no
matter what it is it's beautiful. Green tea
hmm this is really really nice because the green tea is not too sweet and the
bitterness of the green tea works really well with the sweet sponge it's very
smooth, a little bit grainy like the red bean paste was but that's nice I think
that's probably my favorite along with the custard because anything custard is
good right? The deer are not afraid of people this one here started nibbling on my top
just before, see she's getting in. She's got my top! She's got my top hahaha. The camera! Your bag!
Hahaha I've got deer slobber all over me
Miyajima is known as the island of the gods and is really well known for its
torii gate the one behind me and at high tide it looks like the gate is floating
in the water. The gate's the entrance to the Itsukushima Shinto shrine so let's go and
check that out
we keep seeing this Miyajima beer all over the place for sale and we couldn't
not try it. The most beautiful label apparently it's local but well it has to
be local it's called Miyajima original beer and we've googled, we've asked so many
people if there's a brewery here and the answer from Google seems to be yes the
answer from locals seems to be no but we've not found anyone with very good
English so it's been a bit tricky so apparently there is a brewery somewhere
here so if anyone knows where it is or can find it let us know we just bought
this from just a little shop in the main street so it's a pale ale
super interesting. Oh wow it's really hoppy but not in a like kick you in the
back of the throat way that is a beautiful beer it's got some really good
fruit flavors coming through it looks like it's a really cloudy finish to it
so it's- it's almost unfiltered there's a lot of um sediment in the bottle that is
absolutely fantastic. I see it says Miyajima beer since 2010 so
there's got to be a brewery here somewhere. We'd love it if someone could
do. Love it if someone could. Too much beer I've had one sip- we would love it if
someone could let us know because this is so interesting and this is a really
fine beer Sheena try it
Mmmm that is delicious- it's almost gingery in taste yeah
you're right it does yeah, oh it's so good. It's the perfect ending to a really fun day
of exploring on Miyajima Island so there's just lots to see it's really
relaxed, lots of shrines and parks and gardens and little restaurants it's
a beautiful day trip from Hiroshima thank you so much for watching and we'll
see you next time we hope we've inspired you to eat and explore like a traveler, not
a tourist. Kanpai! I forgot to say if you're enjoying our content we would love you

How to Find Your Flow - Duration: 12:19.
There is this expectation that
we are always on up,
that we need to be always on up,
and always out.
We always need to be happy
or we always need to be
able to perform
at the peak level.
And what I noticed is that
when
someone is not constantly
performing at this peak level,
and usually this happens
with high achievers,
so it's kind of like...
I work with high achievers,
I'm a high achiever myself,
and...
this is... the trap
that we get into
is that if we are not high achieving,
basically,
every single day,
all the time
at our peak performance
then we go inward
and we start to feel
guilty, self-doubt...
doubting our abilities,
it's like: what's wrong with me?
I can't do this.
And it's a negative spiral.
So, but actually,
what's happening is that
everything in life
is an ebb and a flow.
Everything.
So, breathing out, breathing in,
breathing out, breathing in,
day, night,
day, night.
And...
the ocean.
So you can think about the ocean,
ebb and flow, ebb and flow,
the tides.
It's the same thing
with your own
natural rhythms.
So your own natural rhythm,
you have a peak
and then... like you have...
a tide... an ebb and a flow,
an ebb and a flow
within you.
Also
it is true for your business.
Since moving my business online
I have noticed this happening
more prominently
than I could observe that in the past.
In the past, I was running my business,
I've been running my business for almost nine years and so...
Actually it probably is nine years now.
So... in the past
it was very much offline,
the old way of doing things.
Like I would go to network meetings
once a week and...
some big events every month
and run workshops
every couple of months or so,
or every month.
If I look back now
I can see there were rhythms back then,
but I didn't know.
I wasn't aware of them
enough to notice
and to be able to work with those rhythms.
So I used to get burnt out quite a lot.
Now, online,
things are happening a lot faster
and I can actually observe things happening
on the daily basis.
So because networking
is not restricted
to once a week,
and going to big networking events
isn't restricted to once a month.
Online you've plugged into Facebook,
so it's like every day!
24/7 if you want to.
I wouldn't recommend that, but...
So it's instant
and it's constant.
And that has given me an opportunity
to really observe
and really watch the cycles.
And I`ve seen that with me,
so I've got an inner experience of it,
as well as with my clients,
I see what's happening
because I'm watching them as my clients
and online, as well.
And I see what's happening
with others.
Who are not maybe my clients
but they are there online,
and so I see them going through this.
Though, for most people
it's unconscious.
And what's happening is that
what we are trying to do is
push push push push,
push push push past that point
where...
Well, actually,
the tide is going in.
So... and it's nothing wrong
to withdraw,
it's nothing wrong
to take that time
to go inward and spend a few days,
maybe a week,
maybe a couple of weeks
in contemplation,
in connecting with the Universe.
But, you see, most of us
are scared of this
because what we are scared of means is that
we are taking our hands
off our business,
or we are not...
pushing the business out there
which means nothing's happening.
So it feels like nothing's happening.
And we start to feel bad
about ourselves,
and so if you are a high performer, like I am,
or a high achiever, like I am,
then...
that's a very dangerous cycle to go in.
Not to notice
when the tide goes in
and to go in with it
to...
I guess reconnect,
but I don't like saying 'reconnect' and 'recharge'
because...
once you learn to ride your cycles
when you are going out,
you shouldn't be losing your energy,
you shouldn't be disconnecting.
That would not be okay.
So... but for most of you that's what happens:
so they kind of push push push
and they get out of alignment,
they get disconnected,
they get drained,
exhausted...
And so especially
they need this,
especially.
I mean everybody needs it but those people,
they need this especially.
So if this is happening to you,
that you go through these...
let's say patches or patterns
of push push push
and then you are exhausted,
and you don't know what's happening...
And it's almost like:
Shall I go on holiday?
Shall I give up my business?
You know, things like that sometimes
come into our mind
when we are in that withdrawal stage.
And so instead of going into the downward spiral
what I would encourage you to do is to...
go inward consciously.
So take time
for yourself
and for connection,
for deepening your connection,
because that's what it's about.
So it's not for reconnecting,
it is for reconnecting
if you've got disconnected,
but when you've learned
not to get disconnected
what happens is you go inward
to go deeper in your connection,
to go deeper in your alignment,
to become more deeply anchored
into your power place.
Women have cycles.
So, natural cycles,
that are, you know, their periods
their menstruations.
So they have this cycle,
and this is a natural rhythm and cycle
that aligns them
with the cycles of the Universe,
so with the cosmic cycles.
When the woman has a period of menstruating
it's the time to go inward,
it's the natural time
when a woman doesn't want
to be getting out there
and pushing herself out
and doing...
all the things kind of out there.
It's a really natural time,
and we need to learn to honor that,
to go inward
to deepen our connection
with ourselves and spirit,
with the Universe, and be really in tune
with the cosmos.
Because that's where we receive
our divine inspiration,
that's where the creativity comes from.
So when we are like stretched
like a rubber band
pushing ourselves out all the time,
well, guess what happens?
It has to go back,
and usually it goes back by what?
Getting burnt out,
exhausted, tired,
getting sick
and things like that.
So my message for you this week is:
If you are feeling that you are
in this pattern of stop and start,
stop and start,
patchy performance,
start tuning into your own
cycles...
So it doesn't matter
whether you are men and a woman,
with women it's just more obvious,
with man it's still there,
it's just not as obvious and so...
But when you start to learn
to listen to yourself
and be in tune
with your...
body and with your being
then you notice
there are natural cycles
when you have a push in creativity
and inspiration to go out,
and then there is a natural
tide going in
when you want to withdraw,
think, analyze,
maybe write, create...
So the inward work.
And then naturally there is the outward,
and then there will be inward,
and outward.
It's the same thing
that's happening with your business.
So your business is a living breathing organism.
Or like it's a being,
it's an entity.
So I know it may sound freaky for some of you,
but this is energetically,
that's what it is.
And so working with the cycles,
your cycles and your business ,
so having those attuned
and knowing when to go out,
the most effective time
to be out
and when it's time to go in.
And when you go in
it doesn't mean you disappear,
you stop interacting,
you stop answering emails of clients,
no, I don't mean that.
What I mean is that
there is the honoring
of the need
to be more inward.
So when you've learned to work
with your own cycles
and with the cycles in your own business,
what will happen
is that instead of feeling
that you've got this stop and start,
stop and start, stop and start
happening in your business
it will start to flow.
And it will start to flow naturally
and beautifully for you
where it's an ebb in and out,
in and out,
so it's a flow in and out, in and out.
But it is a flow.
Like the ocean
going in and out, in and out,
but it never stops.
Like a lemniscate, really.
So it's a beautiful energy
moving in and out
and circulating
properly, and efficiently, and effectively
rather than being blocked,
and then bursting somewhere.
Have you noticed that
even during the day,
one single day
you feel sometimes more projective
and sometimes more inward?
So for me, for example,
afternoon is more projective,
and the morning is more inward.
So more inward means
it's best time for me
to be creating content
like writing
and working on my new courses,
on the new resources,
and behind the scenes kind of things,
creating things.
So morning is the perfect time for me to do that.
Afternoon is the outward cycle for me.
So afternoon is usually better
for me to be going out on Facebook,
and interacting,
and e-mails
and all these other things.
So the same would be happening
throughout the week,
and then throughout the month.
So noticing your own cycles
and honoring them,
acknowledging them
and then working with them
will start to create a seamless flow
in your life and in your business.
Rather than you getting frustrated that:
'Oh, why am I not feeling like this?'
Why am I not at my high...
whatever the high peak for you is...
Why am I not feeling my high peak?
Well, it's natural.
So, learning
to not resist that
but to know:
'Oh, in the in...
When the tide is in
then there is something else
that I'm meant to be doing,
there is the deepening process.
And then you go out again,
then the deepening,
and then you go out again.
Alright I hope that serves you,
let me know if or does.
