In this video We will learning about "How to Deal with an Errors when editing model".
Welcome back at "One Future Solution" channel.
Thanks for watching this video !
In this video We will learning about "How to Deal with an Errors when editing model".
Ok, let's begin !
We will fixing this file.
"Editing_CS".
So, you can download this file at the link in the description field below !
So, this file name is "Editing_CS".
We can start this lesson.
We can open our SolidWorks, like this !
Then, open the "Editing_CS" file !
"Open" !
Nah, this one "Editing_CS", click !
"Open" !
After We open this file, it was showing a notification of errors.
In this "What's Wrong?" dialog box.
We can find so many errors here.
Our task is to repairing or fixing this errors.
Then, We can close it first !
"Close" !
So, to automatically show the "What's Wrong?" dialog box as the previous, We can make sure the "Option" first !
We can click "Option" over here !
This one, "Option" !
Then, We can make sure in this "General" settings,
in this "When rebuild error occur" settings, We should to use "Prompt" option.
So, make sure We use "Prompt" option for this settings.
Let its by default !
Then, We can make sure the other settings, the "View Messages, Errors, & Warnings" settings over here !
Make sure this "Show errors every rebuild" settings already checked !
If all of settings was correct, We can "Ok" !
Nah, if We see in this "Feature Manager Design Tree",
There's so many errors occurs.
You can check about an errors definition in this images !
Ok, this one is our file name, the file that already active now "Editing_CS".
Nah, so if there's appears an error icon or it was have a red color like this,
that's mean in this "Editing_CS" file, there's occurs an errors.
It was called as "Top Level Error", if there's an error occurs in the most top field like this.
Then, for any features or sketches that have a black color like this,
it's called as a "Normal Feature".
Or its a normal features which haven't an errors in it.
And then, for any features that have a red color like this,
That's mean, the red colored features cannot creating a geometry.
Then, there's any error type again that's called as "Warning".
This "Warning" was shown in this sketch which have an "!" icon beside it.
Which having this sign "!".
"Warning" features colored with "Gold Brown" like this.
So, this yellow/gold colored features, that mean its features have a trouble.
But it still can creating a geometry.
Commonly, for this yellow colored features occurs when they was lost some dimension/relations references.
"Dangling".
So the differences between "Warning & Error" is,
"Error" cannot creating a Geometry.
And for this "Warning" still creating a geometry.
Ok, so that's it the definition of "errors".
We can go back to our SolidWorks now.
Nah, We can see at this "Feature Manager Design Tree" again !
Put our cursor on this blue handle bar until it was changed into hand icon like this !
Click & hold !
We can drag it and put it below the "Main" feature !
And now, We can check an error that occurs in this "Main" features !
And for the checking method, We can right click on the "Main" feature !
Or a features that occurs an error in it.
Then, click "What's Wrong?" !
"What's Wrong?".
Nah, there's an error descriptions "The sketch cannot be used...".
So this errors was occurs at the sketch feature.
Then, We can "Close" !
And now, We will try to fixing/repairing this "Main" feature sketch.
To fixing the sketch, We should to go to the sketch features first.
We can right click at the "Main" feature, or We can click this small arrow icon beside it first !
Ok, so this "Sketch1" was inside this "Main" feature.
So, right now We can edit this "Sketch1",
it's because on the "What's Wrong?", it was telling us that the errors occurs in the sketch.
So, We can edit this "Sketch1" !
Right click on the "Sketch1" !
"Edit Sketch" !
Nah, the first thing that We should to check about why this sketch cannot be used for "Extrude" feature,
We can double click our mouse scroll for "Zoom To Fit", or
We can also click this command "Zoom To Fit", or
We can also press "F" on the keyboard !
So, "Zoom To Fit" is to show all of the sketch items to fit with this entire window (monitor screen).
We can double click our mouse scroll button !
Ok, so like this.
Ok, so right here there's an sketch entities which did not have any functions.
So, all of these sketch entities was shown fits with our window (monitor screen).
So, that's the function of "Zoom To Fit".
And if We zoom out the view like this !
Then, We activate the "Zoom To Fit" or press "F" !
Then, We can zoom at this area !
And right here, We can find unusable sketch lines.
We can block this sketch line like this !
"Delete" !
Then, We can use the "Zoom To Fit" again, double click our mouse scroll button !
Nah, after We delete the unusable sketch entities as the previous, We can try to click "Exit Edit Sketch" for now !
Nah, after We click the "Exit Edit Sketch" evidently there's still showing an notification,
"Cannot rebuild the feature using this sketch".
That's mean there's still error occurs in this sketch.
"Cancel" !
And then, How to repairing or checking this sketch ?
We can go to this arrow icon beside the "SolidWorks" text !
Then go to the "Tools" !
"Sketch Tools" !
Then We can click this arrow at the bottom !
Click it until it is showing the "check sketch for feature" command like this !
So, We can click this "Check Sketch For Feature" command !
Nah, so this sketch We will use for what feature ?
As We can see here, We use "Boss Extrude" feature but the name was renamed became "Main".
So, for the "Feature usage" column We can select "Boss Extrude" !
So, We will check this sketch to make it suitable with the "Boss Extrude" feature.
So, are this sketch already qualified for "Boss Extrude" feature ?
We can click "Check" right here !
Nah, there was appears a notification about "The Sketch cannot be used...",
So, this sketch is unqualified or still need an improvements to apply the "Boss Extrude".
We can click "Ok" !
Nah, after We click "Ok", there's activating "Repair Sketch" command automatically.
So, it was showing why this sketch cannot be used for "Boss Extrude" yet.
It's because there's still finding 2 problems in it.
We can zoom the view inside this magnifying glass !
Evidently, there's an unusable sketch line like this.
So, We need to delete it.
Click !
"Delete" !
And after We delete it, We can click "Refresh" over here !
After We "Refresh", these 2 end point of this sketch lines still separate.
So it will creating an "Open Contour Sketch".
Meanwhile, the recommended sketch is the "Closed Contour Sketch" for "Extrude" feature.
So, We can merge these 2 endpoints by adding a "Coincident" relation !
We can click the first end point !
Press & hold "CTRL" !
Then, click this 2nd endpoint !
Release the "CTRL" !
Then, We can select "Merge" !
Click "Merge" !
Nah, these 2 endpoints was already merge right now.
We can press "ESC" to clear these selections !
Then, We can click "Refresh" again !
So, there's still remaining 1 problems right here.
After We repair the previous problem, now We can go to the next problem.
Oh, this is the 2nd problem that We should to fix.
We can zoom the view inside this magnifying glass !
Keep scrolling (zooming) until it was showing a sketch line like this !
Ok, so We can find unusable sketch line also at this area.
It's too small line, so We can't find it with normally checking method.
So, We can delete this line !
Click !
"Delete" !
Then, We can click "Refresh" again !
Nah, this already showing "No problems found" text, that's mean this sketch already correct.
We can "Cancel/Close" this dialog box !
And now, our sketch is didn't have any problems again.
Then, We just need to make this sketch line, click !
Press & hold "CTRL" !
Then, click this horizontal sketch line !
Release the "CTRL" !
We can make them "Equal" !
And then, We can press "ESC" !
Nah, right now We already get the right "fully defined sketch".
Then, We can click "Exit Edit Sketch" to exit from the sketching position !
Ok, so right here We already get a geometry like this.
This "Main" feature wasn't error anymore.
And then, after repairing an error that occurs at the "Main" feature,
Then, We can move this bar to below the "CutExtrude1" feature like this !
Just click & hold this handle bar !
Then release it below the "CutExtrude1" feature !
Nah, right now this feature error was changed became "Warning" not an "Error" anymore.
We can right click at the "CutExtrude1" feature !
Then, activate the "What's Wrong ?" !
Click "What's Wrong?" !
Nah, it was describe the error that occurs, So this error is about....
So, the problem is about the sketch again.
So, We need to edit its sketch.
In this messages, there's some missing references in its sketch.
We can "Close" this first !
Then, We can edit the sketch !
Go to this small arrow icon beside the "CutExtrude1" feature and click !
Right click this "Sketch2" !
"Edit Sketch" !
Nah, if see in this sketch,
there's an sketch line that colored with yellow (gold brown).
Like this one.
Commonly for the normal sketch color is black.
It was for "Fully Defined Sketch" status.
But this one have a yellow color.
That's mean this sketch line lost any sketch references that it use.
This condition called as "Dangling".
So, any sketch entities that losing their references called as "Dangling".
Commonly a "Dangling" sketch occurs if that sketch was losing any sketch relations or dimensions.
Now, We can check the sketch relations first for this sketch.
To show all of relations that used in this sketch, We can go to this "Display/Delete Relations" command !
We can click this small arrow (pull down menu) of that feature !
Then, click "Display/Delete Relations" !
And which relations that We want to show ?
All of relations that used in this sketch.
Click "All in this sketch" !
So, this is all of sketch relations that used in this sketch like, Collinear, Horizontal, and so on.
So, this "Collinear" relation which have a yellow (gold brown) color is the "Dangling" sketch relations.
Or the sketch relations that losing their references.
So, We can fix on this "Collinear" relations.
Then, We can click this "All in this sketch" ! Then select the "Dangling" to showing the "dangling" relations only !
So, the sketch relations that lost their references is the "Collinear" relation at this line.
Then, We can go to the "Entities" field, click this small arrow icon !
Now, We will fixing this "Collinear" relation that "Dangling".
Which losing their references.
Nah, We can click at this field !
As We can see here, this field is the "Entity to replace" field.
In another word this is for replacing the lost references with the new one.
As We can see here, the sketch line is near this edge. Probably, it will "Collinear" with this edge too.
So, We can click this "Replace Entities" field !
Then, We can click this edge as a new reference !
After We clicking this edge, it's already listed here as the "Edge 1".
And then, We can try to click "Replace" !
Nah, right now it was already "Collinear" with that edge.
Nah, right now the lost references of the previous "Collinear" relations was already replaced with this edge.
So now, this sketch lines already "Collinear" with this edge.
Then, We can drag this bar to the top !
We can change this "Dangling" become "All in this sketch" option again !
Nah, all of these relations already normal now.
"Ok" !
So, that's the way to deal with any "Dangling" sketch relations.
Or a relations that lost their references.
We can replace their lost references with the new one.
Then, We can click "Exit Edit Sketch" !
Nah, right now a "Warning" that occurs in this feature already disappeared.
We can drag down this handle bar again !
Release !
Ok, there's no errors here.
Drag it down again !
"Plane 2".
No problems found.
"Rib1".
Ok, no errors found.
Drag it down again !
Nah, We can find an "Warning" occurs in this "CutExtrude2" feature.
We can right click at the "CutExtrude2" feature !
"What's Wrong?" !
"The plane used by this sketch is missing...".
So, the plane that used for this circle sketch is missing.
We can "Close" !
As same as with the previous video, to edit the sketch plane, We can go to its own sketch first over here !
Click the small arrow icon beside its feature !
We can right click at this "Sketch3" !
Then, We can select, not this "Edit Sketch", but select this "Edit Sketch Plane" !
So for edit the plane which used for the sketch.
"Edit Sketch Plane" !
We can right click !
"Clear Selections" !
We will change the missing sketch plane with this face, so We placed that circle sketch on this face, click !
Then, We can click "Ok" !
Nah, right now this features have not error anymore.
We can click outside the are for clear this face selection !
Ok, We can drag this bar again !
"Chamfer1" !
"CutExtrude3" !
"CutExtrude4" !
Nah, We can see a "Warning" for this feature.
Right click !
"What's Wrong?" !
"This sketch contains dimensions...".
Nah, a "Dangling" again !
So the problem is in the sketch again.
And the problems is similar with the previous, "Dangling" or losing their sketch references.
"Close" !
So, We can right click, or We can go to its sketch first over here !
Right click at this sketch !
"Edit Sketch" !
As We saw, an item that have a yellow (gold brown) color is the dimension, not the relations as previous.
If the previous, We have an "Dangling" for the sketch relations, but now for the dimension.
We can click this "9" dimension !
Click outside area first !
Now, We can click the dimension line, this one !
After We clicking the dimension line, there's appears a "small red box" icon over here,
or the losing reference for this dimension.
And, to fix or replace it with the new reference,
We can click & hold this small red box !
Click & hold !
Then, drag it to the edge that We will use as the new reference for this dimension !
We can drag our cursor to this bottom edge !
Drag the cursor until it was showing an "Automatic Relation (Small Yellow Box)" icon like this !
After that, We can release it !
Nah, right now this dimension was already normal again.
That's mean, this "9" dimension was already get a new references, this bottom edge.
And then, We can press "ESC" !
Then, "Exit Edit Sketch" !
Nah, right now, there's no error occurs in this feature anymore.
We can drag the handle bar to the next feature again !
It's safe.
"CircularPattern1" !
Ok, "CutExtrude8" !
Nah, at this "CutExtrude8" feature, there's occurs a "Warning (Error)".
We can right click !
"What's Wrong?" !
"The Sketch...".
So, the errors occurs in the sketch again.
The sketch was losing their references again (Dangling).
"Close" !
Right click at the "CutExtrude8" !
"Edit Sketch" !
Nah, right here the sketch geometry have a yellow (gold brown) color.
That's mean its sketch relations.
We can rotate the view first, like this !
We can click its sketch line !
As We did before, to show the sketch relations, We can go to this command "Display/Delete" relations.
But right now, We can directly click the sketch line that colored with the yellow color like this !
And there's showing an "Concentric" relation with yellow color, and also there's a red point over there.
And now, to change/replace the missing references with the new one for this sketch relations,
We can click & hold this small red point !
As same as that We did for the dimensions.
Ok, We can click & hold this small red point !
Then, drag our cursor to the new reference that We will use !
In this case, We can drag our cursor to this circular edge !
Like this !
Then, release it !
Ok, so the first problem was done, then for this one, click !
After it was showing a small red point like this,
We can rotate the view first, like this !
Ok.
Now, We can click & hold this small red point !
Then, drag our cursor to the new references that We want to use, drag and release it at this circle edge !
Then, We can click "Ok" !
Press "ESC" !
Nah, after this sketch was back to the "Fully Defined Sketch" again like this, We can click "Exit Edit Sketch" !
Ok, so right now the error was fixed.
Then, We can drag the handle bar again below the "Fillet3" feature !
As We can see here, the "Fillet2" still containing an error.
We can right click at the "Fillet2" !
"What's Wrong?" !
"Failed to create fillet...".
Ok, so for the errors that occurs at the "Fillet or Draft" features,
We can fix that errors using this "What's Wrong?" dialog box.
By using this "FeatureXpert" option.
Nah, in this case the error was occurs in the Fillet feature,
so We can use this "FeatureXpert" option to fix that "Fillet" feature !
Click "FeatureXpert" !
Nah, the errors was fixed now.
So, that's the way to fixed an errors that occurs at the "Fillet" feature and also for the "Draft" feature.
Then, We can press "CTRL+7" !
Nah, right now We already get a normal model without any errors found.
And then, We can press "CTRL+S" to save this model !
Ok, so that's the method to deal with an errors that occurs in SolidWorks when We creating a model.
I think it's enough for the lesson in this video.
