hey thanks for joining us John thanks
for being a part of this video about hi
Brad night is supper TV news go ahead
and show them what your we put some
betadine on this but you can kind of see
there's redness here and here where
these sweat glands have gotten infected
and you have put down that you've had
this before right yes okay and they've
had to be drained before the past and
and we tried some antibiotics on this he
came in last week right and and they
kind of felt firm but not squishy like
there's pus to them right we call flex
ones what the antibiotics get for us
over the weekend yes nothing all right
let's get started I'm going to use a
technique over this one that I like to
use where the anesthetic goes in real
superficial here not in the system self
but over it sorry I know it hurts to go
shot in your armpit pulling out that is
the finger if I still sting you know
gasps still sting injury
how bad was this hurting can we get the
other little one that made it worse
yeah I'd agree with that again we just
want to get in the skin sorry
so that didn't get improved with
antibiotics and I'm very suspicious for
there being an abscess I'm just going to
open and drain an abscess today you can
not everybody does
Johnny you feel anything yeah okay and
that's kind of what we thought we were
going to get
yeah they'll get some gauze
okay lean in a little deeper here still
okay John so today we're just getting
the puss out that's that's our purpose
getting the puss out because this
infection is not clearing up with just
antibiotics in the blood it needs to be
drained to get out
time to explore and do we get some
saline some spray saline now one of the
problems with cutting needs to drain
them like this is you can cause there to
be tunneling of the pus and scarring
build up over time and then they have to
operate on and take a whole chunk out
my hurt me at all seem pretty relaxed I
think you're more relaxed than I am
and go inside
now we're already treating with
antibiotics appropriate for mrs a now
we're so it's doubtful that the culture
will change what we do and in fact my
plan is to not even continue the
antibiotics now that we have open and
able to drain but only to use them if
this were to come back
it's a lot smaller you feel anything
John no
and then they don't recommend closing
these which we're not going to oh yeah
there we go
and then let's uh you come through here
with the spray I'll use my hands for a
shield alright so what I'll need you to
do is without touching anything sterile
just get right in there and spray it
full-force go ahead good stop and this
one stop okay John is like getting your
back all wet yeah a little bit alright
so we're going to pack them so I'm
putting this little wick in if you had
this before I don't follow
okay I'm not packing in a whole lot and
packing it super tight that's not my
purpose my purpose is just to give a way
for stuff to drain out some people will
pack them in super tight and that's
because they want the wound to be open
for a long time here there's not a whole
lot to drain so there's not reason to
put all that in there and to prolong the
whole process
all right and oftentimes they'll just
fall out and that's fine they can't make
a poem I'm like Anna like I leave super
long tails because that just makes it
easier from get caught on things the
real concern is not having to fall into
glue well that's not going to happen
this K so we'll put a dressing on that
to catch any drainage from it just some
gauze it'll wear for a couple days under
there so a lot of times when the
treatment of this problem with the sweat
glands getting infected you'll see a
dermatologist and they'll treat you with
steroids over time or rotating
antibiotics sometimes they'll even
operate to take the gland out if they're
really becoming a problem so we'll make
that referral so that after this heals
up you can get ongoing care for it so it
won't be as much of a problem in the
future okay all right hey thanks for
