Tesla Foaming Party Of One - Chemical Guys Car Care - Duration: 6:15.Welcome back to the Detail Garage.
So we've still got the Tesla in the shop, this car hasn't been detailed in at least
four months so it has debris sitting on the paintwork.
If you look closely you can see there is bee poop and pollen that are etching the paintwork
so we're going to use Citrus Wash & Gloss to get that shine back.
We've already started by cleaning the interior to get rid of any filth and we've already
protected the leather and carpets.
We've begun our detail by cleaning the wheels because they are by far the dirtiest areas
from brake dust and grime from driving.
To get started we have our two buckets set up here.
We'll be using the Foam Blaster 6 and some Citrus Wash & Gloss.
Before we get started I'll place the Dirt Traps in each bucket.
Two different colors so we can coordinate which is our rinse and which is our wash bucket.
I"ll place one in our wash bucket, placing it in at an angle to prevent any air getting
trapped underneath it this way it creates a perfect seal to prevent dirt coming back
up through the cones.
We'll also place our second Dirt Trap in our rinse bucket.
Press it all the way against the bottom and let it settle so it creates that seal reducing
scratches by keeping the filth in the bucket.
Now that we have our Dirt Traps in place we'll add about an ounce of Citrus Wash & Gloss
to our bucket.
Just shaking it up to mix the concentrate together.
I'll squirt about an ounce into the bucket.
While we're here we'll also load up the Foam Blaster 6.
This is a little trick, using warm water helps create more foam and thicker suds.
Now I'll reattach the top.
So now that I have reattached the top I'll shake it up to mix it all together and while
we're add it we'll activate the suds in our wash bucket.
Just using the hose I'll spray directly into the bucket.
Now that the bucket is activated we can started rinsing down the car.
Starting at the highest point we'll help knock off all the loose heavier dirt that can scratch
the paint and then we can start working around the vehicle with the foaming process.
So after rinsing down the car you can see it is super wet right now and that knocked
off all the loose dirt and debris so now we'll attach the Foam Blaster.
It has a built in brass quick connect that attaches to the nozzle.
Just pull back on the sleeve and it attaches so we'll be ready to start foaming.
Starting from the top just like we did when we were rinsing down the vehicle we're going
to produce the foaming action to safely get all the filth off the surface and then using
the wash pad we'll come back to scrub off any of the stubborn areas.
Now that the car is all soaped up we're going to take our Wash Pad.
This is our dual sided wash pad that has dreads on one side and a scrubbing sponge on the
other and it has a built in strap which prevents us from dropping it and also making it easier
to maneuver around the vehicle.
I'll just grab some soapy foam, the foam cleans and removes all the grime and debris while
adding lubrication so we don't add any new scratches or swirls.
Again, we're going to start at the top at the highest point and working in straight
lines taking off all the grime for a perfect shine.
As you wash you'll collect all that grime and debris and this is when you go to your
second bucket, place it in and press it against the Dirt Trap.
This is going to release all the grime and debris that was on the vehicle putting it
underneath those cones and preventing it from returning to the vehicle.
Then we'll take it outside of the bucket and wring it out on the ground.
This is further preventing any of that grime from coming back onto the car and scratching.
Now we'll go back to the wash bucket and keep on washing.
So you guys see that Citrus Wash & Gloss, even at a low concentration, can still produce
tons of suds to cut through all that grime and debris.
Now we're going to start rinsing it off so we don't create any water spots or staining.
So now that the car is rinsed off we need to start drying it, using one of our large
microfiber towels we'll pick up all that water without streaking and since this towel has
a silk banded edge we won't have to worry about installing new scratches or swirls.
We'll start here on the hood and blotching out the towel, you can see this car has a
wax on it so it is sheeting nicely, but to remove the excess water we'll pull it off
with our towel.
So there you have it, Citrus Wash & Gloss took care of all that grime that built up
over the long road trip.
The car looks amazing, we're going to finish drying it off.

If you like this video be sure to give it a thumbs up and we'll see you guys next time
right here in the Detail Garage.

Top 10 European Empires - Duration: 7:45.Top 10 European
Empires
10.
The Celtic Empire
The Celts were an ethnolinguistic group of tribal societies in the Iron Age and Medieval
Europe that spoke Celtic languages while having similar culture throughout western Europe.
Though predominant in the British Isles (United Kingdom and Ireland), their reach also extended
over what is now modern-day Portugal, Spain, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Italy.
The Celts first appeared in Central Europe around 1,200 B.C.; from there they moved westward.
Their expansion was aided by their weaponry and brutal battle techniques.
Classical writers such as Strabo and Dionysius described them as "wild beasts."
In Book XIV of Roman Antiquities, Dionysius described their fighting as, "… being
in large measure that of wild beasts and frenzied, was an erratic procedure, quite lacking in
military science.
Thus, at one moment they would raise their swords aloft and smite after the manner of
wild boars, throwing the whole weight of their bodies into the blow like hewers of wood or
men digging with mattocks, and again they would deliver crosswise blows aimed at no
target, as if they intended to cut to pieces the entire bodies of their adversaries, protective
armour and all."
The Celts also had a strong art culture and later, despite their hedonistic appearance,
adapted Christianity to replace their Paganism.
9.
The Viking Empire
The Vikings were Norse seafarers who, from the late 8th to middle 11th centuries, would
travel away from their homeland to trade, explore and sometimes raid areas of Europe,
Asia and the North Atlantic islands.
Although the Vikings did not conquer mainland Europe like the Celts did, they did travel
to the Middle East and Russia and even traded with China.
There is strong evidence that they even reached North America and had settlements in the modern
Canadian provinces of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Along with their ability to expand, the Vikings were also known for their brutish warfare
and violence as motivated by their Norse religion.
One war tactic even consisted of deploying troops who had ingested hallucinogenic mushrooms
or massive amounts of alcohol.
8.
The Spanish Empire
The Spanish Empire began during the Age of Exploration in 1496 and would reach its peak
as the foremost global power under the House of Habsburg.
In the 16th century, Spain was exploring and colonizing half of North and South America,
parts of Africa and even some islands in the Pacific Ocean.
The Spaniards were an uncontested naval power until King Phillip II sent his Spanish Armada
to invade England in 1588; its crushing defeat by the English paved the way for English expansion
and colonialism.
7.
The Portuguese Empire
Although it started as a small and relatively insignificant European country, Portugal would
go on to have one of the largest and richest empires; its colonies including Brazil, coastal
regions of Africa and trading posts in Asia.
Known more as traders than war farers, the trade route from Portugal to India, founded
by Vasco da Gama in 1498, introduced spices and other exotic new foods to Europe.
In 1580, Philip II of Spain inherited the Portuguese crown, thereby beginning a 60-year
union between Portugal between the two countries.
6.
The French Colonial Empire
For nearly 1,000 years, France has had a long-standing rivalry with England.
Naturally this rivalry extended to their colonies as well, especially during the American Revolution.
Though the French did establish colonies in the Caribbean, India and North America, after
the sale of Louisiana (though named Louisiana, the territory was actually comprised of 15
modern-day U.S. states) to the U.S. in 1803 and the conquest of Algier in 1830, they concentrated
primarily on their colonies in northwestern Africa, Madagascar, French Guiana and select
areas in southeastern Asia.
By World War II, the French colonial empire, including France, had a population of 110
million.
5.
The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire was the continuation of the eastern half of the Roman Empire and
lasted between 330 and 1453, with a gap from 1204 to 1261.
Its capital was Constantinople, or modern-day Istanbul, Turkey.
For most of its existence, this empire was the most powerful economic, cultural and military
force in Europe.
It eventually fell to the Ottoman Turks.
4.
The Russian Empire
The Russian Empire, which existed from 1721 until it was overthrown by the Bolsheviks
in 1917, stretched over three continents and was only surpassed in size by the British
and Mongol empires.
At its peak, it was comprised of present-day Russia, Mongolia, Alaska and other territories
around the Eurasian Peninsula.
The expansion of the Russian Empire also allowed for the spread of Eastern Orthodox Christianity.
In this article it is ranked over the French Empire because it was the Russians who thwarted
Napoleon's plans to take over and control all of Europe.
3.
The Third Reich
This empire, although controversial and hated, was responsible for World War II and is still
fresh in our minds.
Known as Nazi Germany, or the Third Reich, and ruled by Adolph Hitler, it only lasted
from 1933 to 1945.
It was a fascist totalitarian state that controlled almost all aspects of life.
Particularly keen on promoting racism and especially anti-Semitism, Hitler and the Nazis
believed Aryans to be the master race.
Jews and others deemed not up to Hitler's expectations and standards were persecuted
and/or murdered.
Nazi Germany occupied most of central Europe, with much of the rest being under the control
of their allied "puppet states."
The Nazis eventually lost the war, and their empire was lost along with it.
2.
The Holy Roman Empire
The Holy Roman Empire lasted from the Middle Ages until its dissolution in 1806.
It was multi-ethnic and was comprised of the territories of Germany, Italy, Bohemia and
Burgundy.
The emperor was traditionally elected and then crowned by the Pope.
Throughout its early history, Catholicism was the main religion in its territories,
but with the Reformation, new Protestant churches, such as Lutheranism an Calvinism, were introduced.
After its defeat by Napoleon at the Battle of Austerlitz, it was dissolved.
1.
The British Empire
The British Empire was "the empire on which the sun never sets."
It had colonies in North America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, southern Asia, Australia,
New Zealand and even Antarctica.
At its height, it covered more than 33,700,000 km2 (13,012,000 sq. mi), almost a quarter
of the Earth's total land area.
The British had rivalries with the French, the Irish and the Dutch.
After World War II, Britain began a policy of decolonization, and the end of the Empire
as such came in 1997, when Hong Kong was returned
to China.

SINCRONIAS DO ACASO (English Subtitles) - Duration: 1:50.FLUKE OF CHANCE
Can you explain to me what are you doing here?
I'm working.
What part of "assist in the office" did you not get?
You really are not aware of your actions.
If I happened to not come here, it could have been disastrous.
I know exactly what I'm doing.
I'm giving you a chance to rebuild your life in a honest way.
and you're just playing around?
What do you want? To keep being a second rate mobster?
I don't think your mother knew how to raise you.
Neither my mother nor my father.
I'm trying to help you and you have the nerve to back talk me?
It is my fault though, I believed you.
I never needed you to believe me.
You really are insolent, a true aberration of society.
You don't know the meaning of dignity, do you?
And you never knew the meaning of father.

The Road to Menaphos Episode #4 - 10 Top Tips - RuneScape - Duration: 3:17.RuneScape presents
The Road to Menaphos
Oh my gosh, we are at the 4th and final of the road to Menaphos videos!
We are kind of nervous, but confident about the launch on the 5th of June for Menaphos, our first expansion.
In the previous videos, we've talked about questing and lore,
we've talked about skilling and tombs, we've also talked about Slayer and Slayer 120.
But this time around, we want to prepare you for what it will be when you go in there,
so we are going to do a top 10 things to prep with.
But for now, we are going to talk about how you progress through the city.
So the one thing we haven't yet talked about is the fact that Menaphos will have a brand new reputation system.
We all know that there are 4 factions across Menaphos.
You will be able to join each one, anyone
and any XP, any skilling you are doing in each area will automatically give you reputation in each district.
The reason we do this is so that you can unlock some rewards, such as cosmetics for each faction
as well as bank deposit boxes for each region.
But the key thing, the key reason you want to have reputation is so you can earn progression
and access more quest content inside of Menaphos.
MENAPHOS TOP TIPS
Anyone who's got the sceptre from Pyramid Plunder will find it very useful
as it will give you a quick teleport straight to Sophanem.
We said it before but it is worth saying it again, the Ozan quests are a requirement to get into Menaphos.
Play Diamond in the rough and Stolen hearts.
So, you only need Stolen heart and Diamond in the rough to get inside Menaphos.
But if you want to face off against the Pharaoh, you will need to have completed all of the desert quest lines.
You can switch faction at any time, but you might want to get all of the unlocks with one
and get full reputation before moving on to another.
If you want to get into the Slayer dungeon, you'll need to have completed Itchlarin's little helper.
If your virtual Slayer level is already at 120, don't worry you will be ported over.
But if you are lower than that, you might want to wait for Menaphos because we will give you multiple new ways of training.
There will also be a community event right outside the gate of Menaphos.
If you are going to be training any skills even bankstanding, do it in Menaphos and get an additional 5% on any XP trained.
Also Golden Path?
Wait! What is the Golden Path?
Menaphos is a new city, you know what to do. Go to the lodestone and unlock it immediately.
The sun is setting on the road to Menaphos.
But while that might seem like a goodbye, it is really just the beginning because of course you guys are getting Menaphos on June 5th.
And it's really not the end because there's going to be more stuff going into the game afterwards,
there's plenty of content to play for months and months.
The titans have been working on Menaphos really hard for the last 5 months and we're really, really looking forward to launching it in June.
See you in Menaphos.

But you never put it in the water!?
No way, dude!

I don't know what to say on a vlog.
Well, you can say anything.
Anything.
You can talk about your life,
You can tell the viewers about your day.
What did you do today?
oh.
err....
...nothing.
But here's the thing:
You're not supposed to look at the camera's screen,
You need to look at the camera lense,
Sou you'll be looking into the viewers's eyes.
got it.
Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about.
How was my day:
I got out of bed,
Because, this thing here,
Was arriving here,
What time was it?
I think it was like, 1:30 p.m.
Got out of the bed at 1:30 p.m.
Said to myself: "gotta do something productive about my life now"
She picked up her favorite cousin on the subway.
- Yep. I picked him up. *Duda still looking at the camera's screen*
We came back, talked a little, had some lunch,
Now we're like this.
We're just like this.
Now Duda needs to clean the whole house...
Yep now I have to...
LIER! I don't need to clean the WHOLE house!
Are you insane??

People do know which room is this.
We already recorded some videos here.

The videos we recorded...
The camera was in this position.
We recorded Dynamite on this room.
yep.
I was the last coach.
And I was the second girl...
I only knew the last coach's moves.
It was the same as the first guy, but I like the last better.
Do you remember the whole song?
...no.
- What's next? - Then we stop and...
And then we do something like...
And then...
And a spin.
And there was this move,
The girls does something like this...

And then the guys does something like this.
Then we stop and we move back,
Then we do this again,
Then we continue doing like...

Then this way...
This way...

What else? That's it, right?
That's the whole song because we can only remember these moves.
*Duda singing brazilian song*
"A kiss for the good people..."
"A kiss for tranny ladies!"
"A kiss for single people,"
"A kiss for feminine boys,"
"A big kiss for my...."
I missed the lyrics!
"A kiss for who's far away..."
"A kiss for nearby people,"
"A big kiss for my angel,"
"A kiss for tranny ladies!"
Wonderful, Duda!
*Duda singing another brazilian song* - "Your love just caught me..."
"Hit me so hard that just KO'd me..."
A very nice angle of the flowers...
With you sweeping the floor behind them.
Look, I just cut my lips.
How did you do that?
I pulled out the skin.
*Túlio's suffering af*
Dude you can't say that!
Ow... ow... afl...
Is "afliceta" we say? You know afliceta?
You never heard this therm "afliceta"? *alternate meme way of saying 'Affliction'*
Is affliction, dude.
You say "afliceta".
No! If something happens you say:
"ow! Affliction!"
Afliceta.
*Duda's death stare*
While I'm having fun
Running with the doggie,
Let's water the plants.
let's water the plants.
That's it.
Is the best part.
Can you do that cool thing?
What?
With your finger.
- ...what? - Put your finger in the rose.
That's it!
*doorbell rings*
That's so fun.
Luisa just arrived.
Do you know what this part of your house remembers me?
*Internal joke of me and Duda*
- Look who arrived. - Hey vlog.
You know what's also funny?
Recording all those places,
It seems like we are even in a farm, right?
They used to have some chickes here too,
So that time I came to spend the night here,
We were awakened by the chickens.
It was lots of fun, Duda.
THIS WAS FUN TO HIM WHEN HE WAS LIKE,
SPENDING SOME DAYS HERE,
NOW WE THAT ACTUALLY LIVED HERE,
WE WERE ALWAYS AWEKENED BY THOSE FREAKIN CHICKENS
IT WAS SOOO GREAT. *Duda's mad af*
I always used to wake up very early.
Right, Duda?
Ow dude... oh no.
This thing is a b*stard.
Is a son of a...
Everyone was like:
"Oh let's sleep early. okay."
... 2 a.m.
So we were supposed to wake up at 1 p.m on the next day,
Túlio always woke up 7 in the morning.
- And this if he didn't wake up at 6:3... - But, no dude...
Shut up! I'm talking!
And this if he didn't wake up at 6:30 a.m.
And turned on the videogame.
But he didn't wake us up.
S...
He used to do better.
- He turned on the videogame... - You see she's clearly lying, right?
SHUT UP DUDE
He turned on the videogame...
- IN MAX VOLUME! - LIER!
Dude ur a lier, no, look.
I never woke up anybody.
I could just woke up all of you.
I never woke up them,
And then I used to let the TV's volume very shhh....
*Look at Duda's face again*
I'll share a nostalgic moment with you now.
I used to play,
In this room with Duda and Pabline when we were kids.
Look at this, guys. Very nostalgic.
There's still a bunch of stuff here,
Those chairs are still here,
That old chalkboard...
There's a very creepy Jimmy Five over there... *a classic character from a Brazilian comic book*
This is yours, right Túlio?
Yep, that's mine.
Hiii!
Look who's here!
I'm heeere,
You almost saw my game cards.
Let me show to the viewers my cards...
Oh wait, Túlio's playing.
Guys, all these doggies...
All of these,
Are sons of this gorgeous here.
- Hii... - How many doggies, gorgeous?
There are 7 here, look:
Bob, Marley, Bidu...
Dudu...
Dominique, Mila...
and Pretinha.
Seven.
Taking care of 7 babies.
And Luisa is right there.
Hey Daily Vlog.
Hi Daily Vlog!
Y'all are so cute! <3 <3
Aww so cute!
Look that cute one guys.
Look at this doggie, guys.
Who's Bob and who's Marley?
Bob is the little one.
Marley is this... kangaroo here.
This very cute kangaroo.
- What you gonna cook for us? - Brigadeiro!!!
A very delicious fat food <3 *brigadeiro is a traditional brazilian sweet*
Delicious fat food <3 <3
We already had some french fries,
That Duda cooked for us, or almost... right?
We also had some nuggets,
Now we gonna eat what what what??
- Geez we are only getting fatter. - Brigadeiro. <3
Getting fat, but today we can.
- We can do that on weekends! - I've gained 30kg already.
- It's saturday, we are allowed to. - Where's Duda?
Sassy brigadeiro made by our gorgeous Auntie Bi (Pabline)
Everyone will wait to eat now, so that no one can have bellyache after.
Ow Pabline but this brigadeiro here...
It doesn't seem he wants to wait to be eaten.
It looks very creamy.
Is the bellyache after brigadeiro worth it?
I think it is.
I think is worth it as well.
ow my teeth.
ow.
Ouch.
*The most disgusting scene you will see today.*
OUCH MY TEETH...
OW SH*T
My teeth, sh*t!
Duda is also suffering a little bit.
*Look all the pain in Duda's eyes*
It's so hot!
Dude the texture is the same as bubblegum! (?)
Ow so yummy!
Guys look,
So you get hungry while we eat, ok?
What's going on here.
We're having...
*Túlio gets a full spoon of brigadeiro* - Oh geez!
A very sociable night, eating a...
Very sassy.
- Eating a delicious brigadeiro with gum texture. - so delicious.
Then,
Who came up with this stupid potassium thing?
- No! Let me explain it! - It was Luisa!
I was getting some cookies to eat...
- To eat with brigadeiro... - No dude it started with Luisa's mom!
This whole potassium story.
- No, Duda. - Yes it was!
He's explaining the doggie theory first. Breathe, girl.
But he's saying...
*Duda and Pabline starts arguing*
But he was talking about potassiu...
WE CAN TALK ABOUT POTASSIUM SHIT LATER DUDA
So I went getting some cookies,
But Duda said: "What is this thing??"
It were just some cookies.
Then Gabi asked if I was eating doggie cookies,
Because I was giving the dogs some doggy cookies before,
Then Túlio came with his Doggie Theory.
Please, Túlio.
Your Doggie Theory.
...your Doggie Theory, dude!
So, what happened, right. *everyone's confused af*
...then I said to the girls,
What I thought about.
What was on my mind this whole time.
Every pet owner,
Once in their lives stopped to think:
How does my pet's food taste like?
I haven't.
To know if it has some good quality, right.
Yes, to know about the qua...
No! Wait, no, no! *The girls are dying in the background*
- It's not even about the good quality! - Who never did that, right?
Is only about the taste: "is it yummy my pet's food?"
So people get some pet's food,
Feel the texture, smells it a bit,
Lick it a little,
And eat it!
I already done that with my cats and dog's food.
- I already done that too. *Gabi's shocked now*
- Look at this! - Just to see if it was good!
And it tastes like nothing!
The standart dog food tastes like dye,
Now the dog cookies tastes like nothing.
lol, dye.
yep.
Now let's talk about the potassium story.
Tell them about potassium.
How this story started.
You just didn't do this dude, oh no.
What happened?
She just dipped the salt cookie into brigadeiro!
But it tastes so good!
I'm doing this too!
Mixing salty and sweet is so good!
Ohh I love to do that!
See!
I want some.
ANYWAYS! *Duda seems pissed*
No! Don't do that!
No! Don't dip this thing in the brigad...
NOOOO
*Too late Duda*
Wasn't I supposed to do that?
- nooo.... - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOOOU
Happy birth...
gimme that.
Actually you're supposed to put it on your spoon.
...anyways.
- Humm so yummy. *zoom at Duda's face 666X intensifies*
So instead of typing normal laughing,
We were just typing "potassium"
Because potassium on 'periody table'...
...periodic.
Periody.
Is letter 'k'. *K is the letter brazilians use to laugh online*
- 'Periody table' lol. - So potassium turns into a lot of "kkk".
*THANKS FOR MAKING ME EXPLAIN A SUPER UNFUNNY JOKE FOR OUR NON SPEAKING PORTUGUESE VIEWERS DUDA. SO MUCH FUN.*
So cool, uh?
Well at least it was funny at the beggining, Duda.
Yes.
*This is the sassier scene you'll be seeing all day*
And that was the summary.
Of Duda's private party today.
The night is not over yet, guys!
You'll sleep here tonight, babe!
There will be a sleepove...
Wait who said I'll sleep here tonight?
Me.
Am I going to sleep here tonight, Duda?
*singing brazilian kiddie songs*
... whoever stand still will be getting...
A HUGE SLAP! *Pabline got lost of control*
Enough! Enough!
I don't know any of thi...
look!
I'm just vlogging here!
- I don't know... - Túlio didn't have a childhood.
I didn't have a childhood!
Not a childhood with those creepy songs!
Continuing the night,
With a match of 'buraco' game.
I'm just here vlogging,
because I don't know how to play this.
Look at this gorgeous's cards here.
- How to play 'Truco': - Hum.
- You have to... - What 'Truco' dude? We're playing 'buraco'!
Got it!
We need to start first with the name of the game, right Duda?
How do you play 'buraco':
You need to do some pairs.
*Now comes a series of boring explanations that no one wants to know about*
...it's dirty.
Got it?
Did you understand, guys?
About the rules?
Look I'm still...
...a bit confused.
75.
Done.
Gimme those.
Finishing this day,
With a sleepover here.
Someone won't last two minutes.
Look the pants Duda borrowed me.
This doesn't even fit in one leg.
*Luisa singing* - Good Morning! Good Morning!
Good morning, Good morning,
For you, for you...
...and you.
That's a lie, dude!
Did I cheat on UNO?
You did.
No, how I did that, then?
+4.
No, because he was like...
When we made Túlio drop cards,
We used to make Túlio drop cards all the time,
Only to mess him up.
Now Duda, here's the thing.
...and Luisa.
As you were the queen of this video,
You need to find a way to end this vlog.
Oh sh*t.
Now we gonna play some UNO.
We can finish it with UNO.
We'll finish with UNO.
Let's end this...
sassy vlog with a match of UNO.
Right?
I'm beating this two gorgeous here.
oh...
- Right, Duda? - Only on his dreams.
I know you have it.
Right! She'll do it for sure.
Waa what you think you're...
- What you think you're doing, miss? - Wooo!
What ya lady think is doing, uh?
- Miss Lady Princess Duda. - 2, 4, 6... Eight!!!
Drop 12 cards!
I want...
Now I can pick a card, right?

After World War II, Britain began a policy of decolonization, and the end of the Empire
as such came in 1997, when Hong Kong was returned
to China.

Why Does Cycling Have Unwritten Rules? | Ask GCN Anything About Cycling - Duration: 12:47.- Hello, and welcome to Ask GCN.
This week we will try and not spend too much time
talking about cycling's unwritten rules,
and, let's put it bluntly, taking a poo
on the side of the road whilst wearing a leader's jersey.
But, Brian Grissom has asked a very good question
on this subject about unwritten rules, obviously not.
He asks, "when did the unwritten rules of waiting
"for your opponent due to a crash/mechanical/poo
"actually come about?"
And then he finishes the question by saying
"cracking show, by the way!"
Yeah, it was a cracking show last week,
great work, Lasty and Martyn.
It was a brilliant video.
But, in answer to your question, Brian,
the unwritten rules have been around
for an awfully long time, actually.
Since bike racing's earliest days,
when actually more than the race itself
it was about conquering the terrain,
the road, and the elements, fundamentally.
So, riders actually used to stick together
just in order to get through.
And then, as the years went by and cycling
became more professional, then people recognised
that they had a job to do.
They all wanted to put a roof over their heads
and feed their families, and so forth.
So actually, rather than taking advantage
of another's misfortune, where you knew
that one day if you did that it would come back
and bite you on the ass,
actually if everyone looked after themselves
and each other, then you would all get through.
Being liked and respected was actually
a really fundamental part of winning bike races.
Which isn't to say that breaking
of unwritten rules didn't happen, it definitely did,
but I think now we're perhaps more familiar
with it because media means
that we're more easily and quickly able
to see these kind of things happening.
We're also able to discuss them instantly,
as opposed to perhaps just
whoever was in the pub that night.
Anyway, moving on to another question,
we've got this one from itsyaboyluis, who's asked
"how do you choose the right frame size?"
Well, if you're completely new to cycling,
then actually getting the right position
on the bike is something you probably
need a bit of help with,
either from the local bike shop or
an experienced cyclist.
Once you know your preferred position,
then you can tell if a frame is the right size
very generally by making sure that you don't
have loads of seatpost hanging out,
or not enough seatpost at all,
or that you have a stem that's between
100 millimetres and 120 millimetres,
and you don't have loads of steerer tube hanging out.
But actually, a really cool thing is
that you can tell at a glance
if a frame will fit you
by looking at the stack and reach measurements.
Bike manufacturers will have these listed
on their websites for every frame size,
and you will know, if you know
your stack and reach measurements,
exactly which frame will fit you.
Now, if you need help with stack and reach,
then this video going on behind me
shows you exactly what they are and how to find them,
so it might be worth a watch.
(rhythmic music)
Firstly, we need to get our saddle position sorted,
so the industry standard is to measure
from the centre of the bottom bracket axle
up through the middle of the saddle rails
to about 60% of the way along the saddle.
Now, of course, that doesn't take into consideration
your crank length and your pedal stack height,
so if you're gonna be swapping those,
then it's a good idea
to, with your crank parallel with the seat tube,
measure from the pedal platform
up to the top.
Nutrition next,
and I'm not entirely sure on whether the dust
has settled yet in the comments section
under the video where we interviewed Dr. James Morton,
who is the head of nutrition for Team Sky,
but nevertheless, I'm gonna wade
into this subject fearlessly.
Because, Dylan Torraville has asked a question.
He says, "you always talk about what foods pro riders
"eat to enhance their performance, but what foods
"would you recommend for the majority of people?"
Well, I wouldn't say it's about specific foods,
I'd say, first and foremost,
you just need a balanced diet.
By that I mean not too much sugar,
not too much fat, loads of fruit and vegetables,
that kind of thing.
Now, Matt here is actually giving
some very solid advice, practical advice
on that subject.
So I would check that video out,
but the one thing I would say is
that if you do take a flapjack out of an oven,
that you make sure you wear oven gloves.
- Last, but by no means least,
one of our favourite on the bike foods,
flapjacks.
They're easy to eat as you ride,
easy to put in your pocket,
and taste good to boot!
And provide exactly the sort of fuel
that you need for your ride.
There's lots and lots of recipes out there,
but why not start off with one
from our very own Simon Richardson?
- Quickfire round now, and taking the lead
from Martyn last week, we're gonna try
and actually make this really quick.
Jay Fields asked on Twitter,
"When should I replace a tyre?"
Well, Jay, if you are lucky enough
if I just reach back here, to have
a certain tyre that will have wear limiters on,
which are little indentations,
there we go, that is one.
Then, you'll know that when those indentations
disappear, that your tyre is ripe for replacing.
If you don't have those,
then effectively you'll see the same kind
of thing where you'll get a flat spot
on the tread, so you'll literally see
that the rubber is wearing out.
Or, the other thing to look out for,
whether you've got wear indicators or not,
is any cuts in the tyre.
It could be on the side wall,
it could be in the tread itself.
And those are weak spots that could eventually
end up giving you a blowout.
There you go, hopefully that answers it Jay.
Next up we've got this one from 100tur.
"GCN, we're all aware of the benefits of using
"nitrogen in our automobile and motorcycle tyres"
I'm not sure actually I was aware of that,
actually, but there we go.
"Could we see a potential benefit
"of using it in our bicycle tyres?
"perhaps helium would be an interesting test."
Well, helium I know about actually,
because helium molecules are too small,
so that when you inflate your bike tyre with helium,
it will effectively just seep straight out again,
so your bike tyres can hold normal air,
but pure helium just leaks straight out.
Chemistry fact for you there!
Of which I don't know many, so don't ask any more.
Next up: Too Literal "with the 6.8 minimum weight kilo
6.8 kilo minimum weight for bikes", sorry,
"why don't they just make crazy lightweight bikes
"and then bump the weight up by having better brakes
"on there" so, disc brakes, "or am I thinking
"about this way to simplistically?"
Well, it's definitely a good idea,
but the trouble is when you do make bikes
super lightweight, is actually,
the chances are you're gonna lose something
in terms of robustness as well.
So pro teams, although it might look like
they're able to just use bikes
and break them after a single day,
actually they tend to ride the same frames
for an awfully long period of time.
The other thing, as well, is that
if you do happen to crash, you want
to be able to get back on your bike again,
you don't want to be left holding several
different pieces and waiting for your team car.
So the robustness, strength, and general longevity
is a really fundamentally important part of the frame.
So going super light just to have better brakes
probably isn't that practical.
But, no doubt, people will be doing it very soon.
Kcrazycyclist has asked: "What do you think
"about the Hammer series?"
That is the new race series that's been launched by Velon,
which is a group of 11 of the best World Tour teams,
and it's a completely new way
of hosting bike races, basically.
The first one of which is next weekend,
and although obviously we haven't had one yet,
I am really excited about this.
I think it's going to be a cool, novel format.
It's not gonna replace Grand Tours,
it's not gonna replace Paris-Roubaix,
but it's gonna be a way of seeing our favourite
pro cyclists racing in a different way.
So, yeah I am very much looking forward
to the Hammer series.
Next one, Jeff T asked on Twitter,
"If you're riding at 40 k an hour,
"with a 20 kilometre an hour tailwind,
"are you technically riding into a headwind?"
No, you are definitely still riding with a tailwind,
but you would conceivably have 20 kilometre an hour wind
in your face, but it's still a tailwind.
Because you measure the wind speed on the ground.
I think.
Sean Hartford, "is it considered taboo
"to put road tyres and slam the stem
"on a cyclocross bike" because he plans
to ride "mainly on pavement"
and he's got himself a cyclocross bargain.
It is definitely not taboo, it's a great idea.
Cyclocross bikes make fantastic bikes
for riding on the pavement.
The one thing I would suggest
that you do, is you take advantage
of the big clearance on the bike
and actually you put 32 millimetre wide tyres on there,
so they're really comfy and actually we know now
that wider tyres roll better and also
you can put less pressure in with less risk
of pinch flat so actually they roll even faster than that.
So again, crossbikes on the road, definitely cool.
Moving on, we're gonna tackle another question now.
Sorry, can we skip it a little bit?
People are gonna be scared off from that.
They're still gonna be slightly scared off, I guess.
Anyway, we had this question sent in
from Messa Cycles, who said that
"lately their cranks are making some very loud
"creaking and popping sounds when they ride,
"how can they fix this problem?"
Creaks on bikes is just the most annoying thing.
One of the worst things about it is actually
tracking down the source of your creak.
I thought I had a noisy bottom bracket the other day,
and I eventually tracked down the source
of the problem as a front quick-release skewer.
I kid you not, my front quick-release
was making such a noise every time I got on the saddle,
but it sounded exactly like a bottom bracket creak.
Because of the complexity of this problem,
a couple of years ago we actually set out
to create a little video series
that would hopefully help you track down
the source of any creak on your bike.
And this video here is the first video in the series,
it'll direct you to the appropriate point.
Click on that and then you will hopefully find out
whether or not it's your front quick-release,
your back quick-release, your pedals, your chain rings,
your bottom bracket, perhaps your saddle,
your headset, it's a minefield.
But good luck! You'll get there!
The majority of creaks and noises
are usually the result of two parts moving slightly
against each other under load.
Think, for example, an alloy bar and stem
moving very slightly when you go over a bump.
To correct most of those problems
is simply a case of checking the torque on the bolt,
and then applying the right preparation
to that and the surfaces.
For example, grease or fibre grip or threadlock.
A lot of noises are more obvious than that, though.
Generally the result of poorly adjusted gears or brakes.
We have shown you how to sort those out in previous videos.
Last question,
this one is sent in by Oliver Lane.
"Should us cyclists play music out loud when riding?
"Will it annoy other people and other cyclists?"
Which is an interesting slant on the question
about listening to music while riding.
Normally, it's about having headphones in,
and should you do that.
Personally, I don't tend to ride with music,
because I find it really unnerving
if I can't hear traffic coming up from behind.
But in terms of playing music out loud,
(drums fingers on table)
it's a tricky one, that.
I don't think it would annoy me
if someone had that, but I might think
it was a little bit on the odd side.
But...
Fair enough, go for it!
If you're in somewhere quiet and peaceful
and you're on your own, then play your music!
All these questions about etiquette
are definitely a complex issue.
For that reason, Dan, Matt, and Tom
actually made a video on this subject,
a few years back now, but it is a definite gold mine,
you need to go check it out.
It's how to be a gentleman or gentle lady cyclist.
(bouncy rhythmic music)
- [Narrator] See another cyclist heading toward you?
Don't ignore them!
- Hello Tom!
- [Narrator] Raise a hand and give them a wave,
say hi, it's who we are, and it's polite!
- Well that absolute classic brings us to the end
of Ask GCN for this week.
Do remember that you can ask us anything,
either in the comments section down below
or using the hashtag torqueback on social media,
and we may well answer your question next week.
In the meantime, do make sure you subscribe
to GCN, it's completely free,
just click on the globe.
And then two more bits of content
that you might be interested in.
The first one I know some of you are interested in
because you ask us this question quite a lot,
so we made a video for you.
It's how to get started again
if you've had to come to a stop on a climb,
that one is just down there.
Or, to see Tom Dumoulin's infamous, now,
giant TCR bike filmed before the incident,
that one is just down there.

After World War II, Britain began a policy of decolonization, and the end of the Empire
as such came in 1997, when Hong Kong was returned
to China.
