Samsung has built itself into a ginormous mobile and electronics empire, though, its
story actually starts much earlier.
How much earlier you ask uh ? It started in 1938, exactly 79 years ago.
Throughout those years the company has evolved significantly, and has brought innovation
into countless markets, going well beyond just mobile and electronics.
In this feature lets aim to explore some of the most unheard & interesting facts beyond
mobile phones and TVs that this Korean giant is known to be.
So let's jump right in!

Samsung's Net Worth: I know most of you guys have some rough image about its earnings
just by looking at its mobile phone sales, and I agree with you, Its terrifically insane.
So, its revenue in just 2016 is $70 billion dollars, which counts for about 17% of South
Korea's entire GDP, that is insane man. and it has somewhere around 500,000 employees
worldwide where as Microsoft has somewhere has around 120,000 employees worldwide.
9.Samsung Timeline:Samsung was founded in 1938 as I already told you by Lee Byung-Chul,
so what were they doing 1938, were they making cars?
Did they make one of the world's first TV or mobile phone?!!!
No...not actually...
They were selling noodles!!!
Yes noodles.
Then in late 1950s they added insurance, securities and retail in to their business.
And in 1970s they made their first ever electronic product…which is a television and their
first computer came in 1983, in 1985 their first cellphone came out , and thier commercial
cellphones were sold about 2000 units, and in 2011 Samsung became the largest smartphone
manufacturer world.

Samsung logo evolution: this is
from 1938-1958 , and this is in 1960s , 1969-1979, 1980-1992, 1993-till date.
Fun fact , the stars in the logo stood for a very long time.
And the openings in the letter 'S' and 'G' is to illustrate the company's open
mindedness.
7.Samsung VS Other companies : Samsung has 22.4% of the current mobile phone
market share against 16.4% by apple, 7.7% by Xiaomi, 5.2% by Lenovo, 4.2% by LG and
38.8 % by rest of the mobile phone manufacturers across the globe.
So in terms of units Samsung sold for about 325 million units in 2015 alone against 231.5
million units by apple and 106.6 million units by Huawei.
And Samsung spent $14 billion dollars for R&D purpose, where as apple spent $6billion
dollars and Google spent $9.8bilion dollars.

Samsung Makes Apple Electronic Chips: Yes that is correct, CPU chips for Apple's
Iphone 4 , 4s, 5 & 5s is manufactured solely by Samsung, that is over 600 million chips.
And is also the largest memory chip manufacturer in the world
5.Samsung and its group of Industries : Samsung is not just mobile and electronics , it is
made up of 80 different businesses including , Samsung Heavy Industries which builds huge
ships and Large Cranes and other big engineering projects, actually the company builds more
than 30 large ships every year.Its ship-building center is 4 Million Square feet big, which
equal to about 5,204 football fields.

Samsung Techwin : AKA Hanwha Techwin, it makes surveillance, aeronautics, optoelectronics,
automations and weapons.
It also makes k16 which is a korea's first fighter jet.
They made helicopters, jet engines, mobile artillery for south Korean army.
3.Samsung Constructions : Samsung construction and Trading owns south Korea's largest theme
park called Everland.
And there is place called Samsung digital city on 389 acres of land with tall buildings
and 131 small buildings where over 35000 people come to work.
Do you Know Samsung is the company which had built World's Tallest building till date
"BURJ KHALIFA" and it also has built PETRONAS TWIN towers in malaysia , now you must be
understanding how big Samsung is uh ? 2.
Samsung Philanthropy : It donates around $100 million dollars to its non-profit medical
center every year, and it has 1200 doctors and 2300 nurses.( it is estimated strength).
And last but not least 1.Samsung's other companies : It also has
Samsung trading and investment , Samsung SDS (its IT services), Samsung Fire and Marine
Insurance and an advertising company called Cheil Worldwide Inc.
