I'm going to fly the Cirrus again!
So it's a blustery day today we've got a decent crosswind actually about 14 knots from about
40 degrees off to our left.
But we're going to be doing some circuit practise in Tango Delta Sierra again today, just to
tidy up some of my approaches.
I've been tending to overshoot final a little bit when you've got parallel runways like
we have here at Moorabbin that's not something that you want to be doing.
So I'm bringing along Mike Walden, he's my original Cirrus instructor who did my transition
training in Tango Delta Sierra.
I'll still be logging the hours as pilot in command but Mike's going to be sitting next
to me just giving me a few tips from his wealth of experience in flying the Cirrus.
So let's get the preflight done, we've got fuel on board, then let's jump in and we'll
go fly.
Tango Delta Sierra line up.
Line up Tango Delta Sierra.
Tango Delta Sierra follow the Foxbat upwind in the circuit cleared for take off.
Cleared for takeoff Tango Delta Sierra.
Then we're watching the fuel flow, fuel flow is good.
70 knots, rotate.
500 feet so flaps up, CAPS is available, fuel pump off, landing light off.
Make our turn to the right.
I'll keep the turn going cos we're being pushed out otherwise here.
I was just about to suggest that.
Tango Delta Sierra late downwind touch and go.
Tango Delta Sierra follow the Foxbat on close base request a close circuit for ahead inbound
traffic.
Traffic sighted and close base Tango Delta Sierra.
Yep that's him in front.
And then you've got, I've got another Foxbat here Mike.
Have you?
Yep.
What are your thoughts?
Is it left or right?
I'm going to go around here I think.
Yeah I'd go around.
Because I'm not sure which runway he's going on.
Tango Delta Sierra going around.
Tango Delta Sierra.
I've got, actually I can see him landing on left, but it's hard to know which is which.
Correct, yes I think that was a good decision.
Tango Delta Sierra downwind touch and go.
Tango Delta Sierra number 4 follow the third Cessna they're just inside a 3 mile final.
Looking for the traffic Tango Delta Sierra.
There's one, there's two, there's three.
Second stage of flaps on the base turn.
So we're setup for final.
See that left wind has just got us a bit.
Yeah, it's held me up there a little bit longer than I thought.
Tango Delta Sierra cleared touch and go.
Cleared touch and go Tango Delta Sierra.
And it's 78 then over the threshold.
Hold the rudder in, right rudder left aileron, hold it in there, hold it in there, hold it
in there, power is off, ok flaps up one, hold the right rudder in there.
That's good.
Big balloon there to start with, and I was quite steep coming down so it took a long
time to get that speed off.
Echo Oscar Echo line up.
Oh really?
Wow.
Line up Echo Oscar Echo.
Echo Oscar Echo cleared for takeoff.
I'm not going to go in behind.
I'm not going to get in behind him Mike so I'm going to go around.
Tango Delta Sierra going around.
Tango Delta Sierra.
So full power first, then flaps.
Tango Delta Sierra a right turn from midfield is available.
We'll take that thanks, turning right, Tango Delta Sierra.
Tango Delta Sierra we're a late downwind touch and go.
Tango Delta Sierra number one.
Tango Delta Sierra.
Tango Delta Sierra cleared touch and go.
Cleared touch and go Tango Delta Sierra.
So 300 feet, airspeed's ok.
I'm happy with that so we'll continue, a little bit high.
Ah beautiful, beautiful.
So Mike I'm pretty comfortable.
I am.
That's really what I wanted to do so if you are, I'll make this a full stop if that's
cool with you.
Absolutely, that's fine by me.
Tango Delta Sierra cleared to land.
Cleared to land Tango Delta Sierra.
Yeah a few little gusts coming in now.
Well that was a great effort well done.
Thank you Mike.
That was a really good effort.
Thank you very much, thank you.
I was really really impressed with that.
I love flying this plane.
