Huge filament giveaways for 100k! No more reviews! Job offering! - Duration: 8:51.Well look at that, it's been 10 days since the first giveaway for 100k subscribers ended
and even though I promised there'd be another one right after that, there still isn't?
Ok, I'm going to talk about that later and why that basic task of even making videos
has become so frigging hard for me to do.
But first, let's do that next giveaway.
I don't want to waste your time if that's all you came for.
First of all, the two winners of the Prusa i3 MK2Ss: Matthias Andersen from Germany and
David Kiddell from Canada, have fun with your MK2Ss - you're definitely going to enjoy
them!
And for the next round of giveaways: We're doing filaments!
Actually, this is three giveaways in one go.
First off, rigid.ink is chipping in three packs with three spools of filament each - you
get to choose which materials, which colors and which size.
rigid.ink make some great technical filaments, some of which I've tested in Filaween Season
1 and got impressive results with.
If you win, choose wisely, they're pretty addictive!
Then, MatterHackers are providing one Pro Pack with all of their PRO series filament,
that is PLA, ABS, Flex, PETG, Ryno, Nylon and and NylonX, and Matterhackers does make
fantastic materials, again, you get to choose which size and color, but with this one, there's
only one package, so one winner takes it all.
And last but not least, five of you will win a spool of Infinity Blue from DAS FILAMENT
- it's just humble PLA, but pretty good stuff at it and the only one that comes in
the Tom's 3D Infinity Blue color.
All prizes from rigid.ink, MatterHackers and DAS FILAMENT will come to you shipped free
of charge, but as always, customs and import fees are outside of our control so we can't
account for those.
And as a bonus on the MatterHackers giveaway, just for entering, you'll get a coupon for
$5 off your next order, no questions asked.
These are three independent giveaways, one for the three packs with three rigid.ink filaments
each, another for one pack of seven spools of MatterHackers PRO filament, and the last
one for five packs of DAS FILAMENT Infinity Blue, one spool each, plus stickers.
You can enter at these links, which are also in the video description.
Best of luck.
And if all you care about is the giveaways, you can stop watching now.
Ok, everyone gone?
Perfect.
So, I do have a bit of a problem: The more I dive into the entire YouTube universe, the
more I get to see just all the crap that's going on behind the scenes that actually makes
channels quote on quote "successful" and the more I see it, the more I disagree with
it.
So many of the rapidly growing channels are putting on a huge shit show, and it's working.
Like having people spam their Facebook friends with giveaways to gain subscribers or using
clickbait tactics for titles and thumbnails or literally having five different videos,
each claiming to show you "the best 3D printer", because I mean, that's what people will
click on, that's what they want, the largest amount of viewers just wants to be told what
to do without having to think too much.
Catering to that is so easy and it's so effective - like, just look at affiliate sales
- if you have a review that's super positive and you get just 1% of your 100k viewers to
buy it, you know, an 8% commision on 1000 $400 sales, that does add up to quite a nice
chunk of extra income.
On a side note, there is a coupon code for the CR-10 on Gearbest in the description of
this video and it's only valid for the first 500 people that use it!
So be quick if you want to get one!
You know, there's quite a bit of temptation of just playing that game and cashing in,
and for me, trying to deal with that and sort of competing with that trashier type of content
that does that, that drains a lot of my energy, it works me up because it's just so cheap.
And it works.
Should I give in and just label every 3D printer "the best", too?
Should I start doing that?
That's what people will watch, right?
But that entire topic of reviews, that's enough stuff for a whole other video.
For the time being, I've completely stopped accepting new products for review until I
figure this out and regain a bit more time to do them properly.
Because for me, it's at least two weeks of work to review a 3D printer the way I believe
is fair and neutral compared to spending half a day rambling about the unboxing and the
two and a half things you've printed on it.
And frankly, the people that really care about this channel do not value reviews that highly
anyways - the survey among my Patrons that I'm shipping stickers, T-Shirts and filament
out to very clearly shows that the most valuable content I make is not reviews, it's in-depth
guides and projects that actually improve and use the machines you have.
And if you look at what videos actually get views, it's the same thing.
So for now, no more reviews.
Except Filaween.
Also means I won't have to put up with wild accusations of being paid by manufacturers.
So that's a good thing.
Still, the channel's growth overall has been more of chore than I've been expecting.
I mean, it's going great, but the problem is, I had no extra time for things like having
a life for a while, but recently, it's just been too much.
All the overhead from all the crap that isn't even explicitly video making has been bogging
me down so much, to the point where right now I feel like I've completely stalled.
Because there's so little time for actually creating videos that each one feels like this
huge project and it's just…
I need to change this.
Two options for that… either I reduce my workload - like, I put out less content and
just stop replying to emails altogether - and whether I wanted to or not, I've already
been doing that, sorry if I haven't replied to your emails in, like, months, but it's
never going to be as relaxed like it was with 25k subscribers where I could literally just
pump out a video on a single Sunday and then not have to think about YouTube for the entire
rest of the week.
I wish, but that's not coming back.
Or, the other option is to expand the time that's being put into the channel and everything
that comes along with it.
And that can not be my own time, because I don't have any more time to give, I need
to spend less time on this or I'm going fall apart as a person.
So it's going to be someone else's time that I will purchase up-front.
And that means, yes, I have a job opening.
I don't feel like I'm ready to have an employee, but hey, is anybody really ever
ready for taking huge steps like this?
Basically, I'm looking for a part-time assistant like three days a week or so, the good thing
is, because I'm doing everything myself right now, any skills are appreciated.
So that can be - typing out scripts for me real fast, or accounting, or just taking care
of basic business relation stuff.
Or of course, video skills, whether it's editing or shooting B-roll etc, I can really
use anything at this point.
The rest we'll figure out somehow.
There is one condition, though, if you're interested in working for me, you'll need
to be from my area, because I need someone, like, within shouting distance and physically
present.
Sorry, but this is not going to work out as a remote job.
So for now, as a first announcement for this glorious job opening, if you're interested
in joining NMTS, send me an email at jobs@toms3d.org, please include where you're from and what
your skills are, I am also going to post this online soon, but since you're the crowd
that's already watching my videos, you do have a head start because you know what to
expect.
And with this job opening, I'm also honoring the original 3k goal on Patreon, which was
to hire someone, originally for video editing, but as it turns out, that's the least of
my issues right now.
What's amazing is that we're creating jobs here, and that feels weird, but somehow
incredibly satisfying as well.
And I would to take this opportunity to thank the Patrons that are supporting this channel,
specifically Olivier Nicolas
Neil Youngberg Adam Hunger
Christoph Schacht Woody Boyd
Raphael Rema Günni W
Alexander Allan-Rand Keith Austin
Sherif Eid Filip Goc
Bobby CC Wong Francisco Peebles
Rudolff Vang Makerparts
William Devine Matthew Byrd
Alexander Strobl Jordi Böhme
Stefanie Davis Robert Mohnacky
Ron Hunt and everyone else who's there on Patreon
while we take the next steps in this crazy, awesome, wild adventure.
Again, for now, no more reviews, but instead more of what I want to be this channel about
and more of what you're indicating you want to see.
Let's see how this entire "employee" thing works out.
I honestly have no idea.
So yeah, do check out those giveaways, shoutout to rigid.ink, Matterhackers and DAS FILAMENT
for providing the prizes, that is awesome, and yeah, I guess, thanks for watching and
sticking through what turned out to be a bit of a rant, but yeah, I'll see you in the
next one.
Cheers!

[Interview] Alex Bennett - Budo in today's modern world (S01E11- Final) - Duration: 22:00.Alexander C. Bennett has two PHDs in Human Studies and Sciences
from the University of Canterbury and Kyoto University.
He holds the ranks of 7th dan Kyoshi in Kendo, 5th dan in Iaido and Naginata,
3rd dan in Jukendo and Tankendo.
He is professor at Kansai University of both Kendo and Japanese Culture and History,
vice-president of the International Naginata Federation, member of the international committee of the
All Japan Kendo Federation, director at the Japanese Academy of Budo,
co-founder of the Kendo World Magazine, and author of several books in English and Japanese.
How accurately do they see Budo..
ah..
well..
not very.
It depends on the person of course, you know, I'm generalizing but..
Like for example, I am involved with Japanese students, University Kendo Club
and very few, if any of them, would have heard of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai.
Very few, if any of them, would know that Kendo and Judo and Budo was
banned after World War ll for four or five years because it was considered
dangerous, ideologically and not conducive to a new or newly forming
modern, democratic Japan because of the way it was utilized in the
militaristic agenda in the 1930s and 1940s.
It became, and there was a lot of
opposition to this, but it was commandeered by the government.
It was a private organization an then the government decided
you're going to be part of the government now.
In fact, Ueshiba Morihei
and his group - it wasn't called Aikikai at the time, I can't
remember the name but, - well, they were influenced by this, they became
I think the term is "extra governmental organization". "Kodokan" became an
extra government organization, you know, and "Butoku Kai" as well of course.
And so, they had little freedom on what they were allowed to do or at least
their status, you know, and in the war machine..
so it is because of this that
the martial arts - there was a blanket ban on them in the post-war period.
So my point anyway is that very few, the Japanese students who I deal with now, would
even know about this and none of them would know about Sakakibara Kenkichi
who was the guy who sort of revitalized traditional martial arts in the Meiji period,
just as they are about to die out because he created shows where people
who go and have demonstration fights in front of a fee paying audience
and they get paid for that you know, but like I wouldn't say "pro wrestling shows" today
but you know, sort of professional sort of fighting. Very few, if any,
would know about the battle at Tabaruzaka during the Satsuma rebellion
against Saigo Takamori where the Battotai, which was a group of
government police originally from the Aizu domain who for some strange
reason only had katana and not guns as was the norm because the whole thing was
being reversed. So they went down to Kyushu and they fought with Saigo Takamori's
rebels who all had guns and these guys with the katana or the
katanas they were victorious and it became a massive
sensation throughout Japan, it was like: "Wow! katana is not that useless after all
you can actually use them and battle, hey this is cool" and so it was after
that, that the head doomed for the Japanese police
Kawaji Toshiyoshi, he was like the superintendent I think for the Keishicho
and he said: "You know what? I think it's about time that we reconsidered the
value of traditional swordsmanship and introduced that into the police training."
You know, and this was in the 1880s. So it's because of these things
Kendo, Kenjutsu and the other martial arts could very easily have died out.
Completely. Because they were useless. Although it's seen as being useless, no real
function in a modernizing Japan with a modernizing army. So most people even in
Japan and I'm guessing you know, people outside of Japan don't have much to
do with the martial arts or even people that do, sort of assume that what we're doing
now is like exactly what some samurai dude was doing two or three hundred
years ago and we just, you know, continuing that tradition.
In some ways we are continuing that tradition because there is a line that connects it
but it's also been adapted, changed, modernized, in some ways westernized
to keep it, you know, relevant to the needs of modern society.
So it's not as if we step into the dojo and it's a time warp back into the Edo period.
A lot has happened, you know, over the last 200 years,
100 years, 50 years, 10 years, that you know, has Budo as it is at the moment.
One of the problems I come across in Japan with regards to Budos when you try and do something new
then people say: "oh no, this is not what we do in Budo!" and there's sort of..
They'll make some reference to tradition or something like that but
if Kano Jigoro was worried about tradition he wouldn't have created Kodokan Judo.
If Nishikubo Hiromichi was worried about tradition he wouldn't have
suddenly decided that everything should be called Budo instead of Bujutsu.
If Ueshiba Morihei was worried about tradition he wouldn't have created Aikido.
They see something really good, useful in Budo, but it has to be
adapted to suit the needs of the people of the time
and this constant change you can
see it even in the thirty years I've been in Japan I've seen things change
in Budo, you know, the way that for example matches are conducted..
..like simple, it is a really simple example this is crazy,
crazy stuff but.. when I was a high school student doing Kendo here
as you know in Japan is bloody hot in the summer, right? It's so hot and so humid.
Imagine putting a Kendo mask on and going crazy for two hours,
...screaming around.
Dehydration is a serious problem and it's very dangerous
very, very dangerous. But God help you if you were caught having a drink
during training or taking your mask off having a drink. It was like "this is the most
unbudolike thing that you could ever do. This is terrible!"
You know, you just don't do it in Japan, right?
This is really bizarre but it comes from this idea
that you should not drink fluids during training.
"Dento da. Zettai dojo de nondara dame da." "You are not allowed to drink water
in the dojo because it's tradition and that's because we are hard budoka
and you got to be able to overcome adversity and.." - blah, blah, blah.
Actually, it was in the early 1900s there was a professor at Tokyo University
who wrote a very influential paper that said drinking water during exercise will
actually make you less efficient at that exercise whatever it is so you should
refrain from drinking because it's, you know, it's not conducive to high performance.
It's absolute rubbish of course but maybe that was the common
sense at the time but it has remained common sense for over a hundred years in Japan.
There've been very tragic things happen in dojos where children
had died of dehydration or heatstroke.
And not only Kendo but sports in general.
There was a campaign a few years ago by one of the
ministries - what was it.. of "health" or something like that.
And so this problem of kids becoming dehydrated or getting very seriously ill
through heatstroke was so widespread that there's all these
posters that they put out and sent to schools and the message in Japanese:
"Sensei, mizu wo nomasete kudasai." - "Teacher, please let us drink water."
You know, this is quite recently, right? And now it's become, although it's still..
people are a little bit nervous about it because, you know..
it's "not traditional". People now, they're starting to drink during their training
just to keep hydrated, right? So this is one of the things, a very small
example but one of the things that
Japanese Budo is sort of like hardwired into saying that tradition is the be-all
and end-all and it must stay as it is because this is the way it's always been
and therefore it does not evolve any further. But actually,
it totally goes against the traditional Budo. Budo has always been about
evolution, change. You think about like the traditional martial arts all of them,
you know, the schools they end with the kanji "ryu". "Ryu" means - well,
it signifies school, but actually means "nagareru", to flow. So that means to flow through,
down through the generations and by virtue of that when have you ever
seen a river that's perfectly straight and always flows exactly the same tempo.
A natural river, it changes direction it goes fast here, it goes slow here,
just like "ryu" means, "nagareru", to cascade, and so flexibility and change
has always been a really central key concept in the survival of the martial arts,
and to enable them to keep relevant if such-and-such "ryu" suddenly develops
a fantastic new technique then obviously you're gonna have to come up with
another one to be able to deal with that. And modern Budo suffers from this
because of a lack of knowledge of how the martial arts actually have evolved
over time. They suddenly fall into this, you know, rather unyielding mindset
that what we're doing is tradition and it must stay the same but they don't
realize that tradition is actually invented and tradition has constantly changed.
Tradition has to be alive to survive, I think. So your question:
How accurately do people in Japan and in the West understand what Budo actually is,
just from that perspective alone. A lot of people don't understand
and that is to the detriment of Budo because, as it becomes less relevant,
fewer people are going to want to do it. And then you'll hear the argument:
"Well you know, this is the proper way of doing it so people don't want to do it, then that's fine.
Even if it's only a few people who are doing the correct way
then that's good." That's very naive I think.
This is a tough question because Japanese people like to lump Budo together as one thing with
one concept: "ningen keisei no michi" (the way to develop character). But personally, Kendo to me
is okay, if you want to call it self perfection that is up to you but
to me, I'm not bogged down by that. To me,
Kendo is my art that I'm creating, now. And in order to create my art I need to
know as much as possible about the various possibilities and where it can go.
And to know where it can go it's really useful to know where it's come from.
And that gives you a broad view of the
potential and you know, what is this perennial path of Budo.
So I don't think it's necessary to start with but if you decide that Budo is something
that you want to take to another level for your personal development or
creating your art, then yes, of course, you need to really understand where it's
come from, learn from the past so it can illuminate your situation in the present
and also into the future. So that comes. I don't think it's necessary to start off with.
Children don't need to know about that at all, they just want to
have fun and wet batches. Well, why not, you know that's fine.
But there is a progression I think, and as you progress you need to know more, you learn more, you know.
Do you need to know about Japanese culture to be able to do Budo?
If you're doing Budo in Japan it helps, okay? But, like I think I said before
I don't do Kendo or Budo, I don't study it because it's Japanese culture.
I don't think that Budo is special because it is Japanese culture.
I know many of my Japanese friends are proud of Budo, because it is
traditional Japanese culture. To me, the value of Budo is in its universality.
I spent a while in Iran about 10 years ago, and I met hundreds of devout muslims
who were studying Aikido or Kendo or Judo or Karatedo.
And I asked them, I said you know, - because I was there for research,
I was doing surveys, questionnaires and one of the questions I asked was like:
Do you find that, with the emphasis in Budo, whatever the Budo,
irrespective of the Budo, there's always emphasis on a sort of morality,
and being a better person and you know etc., etc., "ningen keisei.."
Do you find that it comes in conflict with your Islamic beliefs.
And everybody said "no, no, no, absolutely not" and I remember one really interesting answer was
"If anything, Budo is like a supplement for my faith.
It makes me a better Muslim, more respectful, and stronger, and able to help other people.
So I was like "wow!" Then you go to other countries or meet other people who say they have
absolutely no interest in religion or they're not affiliated with you know,
Christianity or Islam or whatever. But Budo provides them with something else,
some other kind of spiritual support if you like or it just...
fills the gap perhaps that they're seeking or
hoping for, that they don't have through a religious life but they find it
through the various teachings and philosophy that you learn about in Budo.
My point is that it's exactly what it is. It is a framework and that framework
is like a skeleton and you flesh it out depending on the
motivations that you have at the time
and the beauty of Budo, most Budo, is there is no retirement, okay?
There's literally something that you can do from the time you're very
very young you see even three or four year olds in the dojo.
I don't know if it's good or not but then like in Kendo, I know
somebody who is 102 and he still goes out on the floor and fights people
in their teens, 20s 30s 40s 50s and they just can't match it.
So there is no retirement and because it is a lifelong thing
of course your motivations are going to change along the way.
And so you have this framework
that you start attaching meat to or flesh to and that,
as your motivations change. So do the sources that you look for your information and
the inspirations that you get, your life experience, how does that connect
with this framework. Or how can you use that framework to help you and your level.
It sort of starts accumulating and it's certainly not an instant process.
It is a lifelong journey, right? It's not instant, you know..
"Because I got my black belt now suddenly I'm the big master and you know I'm the big expert!"
This is rubbish, right? So yeah, it takes time and so there is no hurry at all and
it also very much depends on what you want to get out of the Budo,
it depends how you fashion this sculpture on the bones of Budo, right?
But if there was a book, anyway, that really
would be a great introduction into Budo... Again, what is your motivation.
I've got a book coming out through Tuttle which is a big American publisher, soon.
I don't know what the final title is going to be, it's something along the
lines of "the gaijin samurai's guide to surviving Japan" or something like that,
which is budo 101. You come here, if you're coming to Japan.
How are you going to go about this Budo journey. So, can I get back
to you on that one?
In this first season we talked about Alex's life and about the beginnings of his research.
With it, we set the context to dig deeper in those subjects in
future interviews. The next season might get a bit more technical and hopefully
controversial. but it's yet to happen. So feel free to suggest questions for the
next interviews in this video's comments. We hope you enjoyed the series and if
you think this can be a good introduction to Budo history for other
budoka, share the videos. Oh and read Alex's books, they're awesome.
See you soon for season 2!

How to Make LinkedIn Requests to Connect - Duration: 2:38.Hi, I'm Jane Jackson, career coach, and LinkedIn trainer.
There's been much debate on LinkedIn recently about connection requests.
What are your thoughts on LinkedIn connection requests?
You now the ones – the generic ones that say: I'd Like to Add you to My Professional
Network on LinkedIn If I've ever sent one of those to you by
accident, please accept my apologies – it would have only been because my flying fingers
clicked send before my brain kicked into gear.
I'm so disappointed every time I receive depersonalized LinkedIn connection requests
with the generic invitation "I'd like to add you to my professional network on Linkedin.'
When I receive those (and I get so many every day) I just wonder 'WHY WOULD I WANT TO
CONNECT WITH THAT PERSON?'
They haven't given me a reason why THEY want to connect let alone a hint of WHY I
should accept.
How do you feel about generic requests?
I put at the end of my summary "If you'd like to connect on LinkedIn, send me a personalised
invitation and make a genuine connection.
If you mention cats or golf it's more likely I'll respond!
Do you think most people even read my summary before they ask to connect?
Obviously not as only a handful have mentioned cats or golf.
And only ONE person has mentioned cats AND golf!
To be honest, it's not about cats nor golf, it's about whether they want to connect
with me because they are interested in what I have to offer as a career coach and LinkedIn
trainer, or if they just want to collect a lot of random connections.
I can only think that people send generic requests for 3 reasons: 1.
They don't know any better 2.
They don't really care 3.
They don't know what to say Well, here's what you can say: Tell me why
on earth you want to connect to me.
Really.
Tell me!
WHY?
Do we have synergies worth exploring?
What do you hope to obtain from our connection?
If you are truly interested in building long-term, sustainable business relationships via LinkedIn,
your personal touch on the invitation to connect is vital.
What do you think?
I love a good debate so let's start a discussion on this!

Idioms & Phrasal Verbs For Moving Abroad! - Duration: 8:28.Hello hello and welcome to Anya Teaches English! So today I am doing a little video blog
thing to talk about my move abroad but not just that...I'm going to today give you
some useful vocabulary; some idioms, some phrasal verbs to talk about moving
abroad. And not just that but also to talk about finding yourself in a new
situation so a lot of the words and phrases that I'm going to give you today,
they can be used to talk about moving to a new city, moving to a new country,
starting a new job, maybe even like having a baby! You know, some big exciting
changes which you can use to talk about lots of different things. The reason I'm
doing this is because as some of you might know already I recently moved to
Berlin! So I am now in Germany in Berlin. I was living in Reading in England
before that for one year and yeah, so I've moved here now and it's all very
very exciting and I am going to give you some useful vocabulary so let's get
started! The first thing I wanted to share with you is an idiom. This idiom is
"to find one's feet" or to "find your feet" so this means to become familiar with
and confident in a new place or a new situation, maybe in a new job. When you
first move somewhere you're not sure where everything is, how everything
works so it takes you a while to find your
feet! I have now been in Berlin for two weeks and I guess I'm still finding my
feet a little bit it was more difficult at the start but now I'm slowly
my feet I'm getting used to knowing where everything is, how things work in
Germany so yeah...I'm finding my feet! Next thing I wanted to share with you is a
phrasal verb and it is to "settle in" so this has quite a similar meaning to
"finding your feet". To "settle in" means to become familiar with or get used to a
new place or a new way of life and again maybe a new job.
So when you first arrive somewhere or start doing something new,
it takes you a while to "settle in" to it because at first everything seems
different and strange and unfamiliar so after a few days or a few weeks, maybe
even a few months you start to settle in and feel comfortable in your new place
or in your new role. The next thing I wanted to share with you is to "get your
bearings" so again, this is kind of similar to both "find your feet" and to
"settle in". To "get your bearings" is an idiom which means to kind of understand
where you are in relation to other things and to know what to do next. So
this can be literally, physically. For example...the street where I live; at first
I didn't have my bearings at all. I needed to find my bearings or to get my
bearings and to understand where is the nearest supermarket, where is the station,
where is the bus stop where is the bank all of these things I wasn't sure where
they were so I needed to look at a map and get my bearings. But to "get your
bearings" can also be used in a non-literal, it can be used in a
figurative way to kind of you know mentally prepare yourself and mentally
understand where you are and to know what you need to do
next. The fourth thing I wanted to share with you is a phrasal verb to "sort out".
To sort out means to organise things so again, when you move abroad or even when
you move to a different city or when you start a new job there are many things
you need to sort out. For example, moving from the UK to Germany I have needed to
sort out a new phone, a new SIM card for my phone to get a German number. I needed
to sort out a bank account, I needed to sort out my taxes and stuff like that.
I also needed to sort out accommodation. Very important...a place to live! That's a
priority...something you really do need to sort out probably before you move to a
new place. So yeah, these are all things that needed to be sorted out. And finally,
the last word I want to share with you today is the word "overwhelming" or
"overwhelmed". So this word, "overwhelming" means...it can be used to talk about a
situation which makes you feel a lot of strong emotions. If something is
overwhelming you feel overwhelmed. Let me give you an example...so for example when
you move to a different country it's often an overwhelming experience and can
leave you feeling overwhelmed. The reason is that there's a lot of strong and
maybe mixed emotions. So maybe you're a little bit nervous, maybe you're a little
bit stressed you know because there are so many things to sort out
which can be stressful. So you're a bit nervous, a bit stressed but also very
excited because of course it's an exciting thing always to move to a
different place. So you're stressed, you're excited or you're nervous but
also happy. Maybe even a little bit sad of leaving your
old place behind. But all these feelings, all these strong emotions can leave you
feeling a little bit overwhelmed and I think that's a very normal feeling when
you move to a new place. So yeah, those are the things that I wanted to share
with you today and what I want from you guys now...I'd like you to tell me...have
you ever moved abroad? Or have you ever moved to a different city? And how did
you find it? Tell me about your experience. How long did it take you to
find your feet? How long did it take you to settle in? Was it quick? Did you do it
in a few weeks or did it take longer? Also, how did you feel about it? Was it
overwhelming and why? What are some of the things that you needed to sort out?
So using all of this vocabulary that we've learned today I'd like you to tell
me about your experiences of moving to a different city or moving to a different
country and if you have never moved abroad maybe you can tell me about where
you would like to move if you had the chance. Maybe you will move in the future
and you need to start thinking about the things that you will need to prepare to
move. So yeah, let me know about your experiences in the comments below! I look
forward to reading them. Thank you for watching. I hope you found it useful. If
you liked it, give it a like or also remember to share it and comment and
subscribe! I will be back again with another
video soon. See you next time. Buh-bye!
you

Truths That Transform - What About These Other Gods? - Duration: 28:31.D. JAMES KENNEDY MINISTRIES PRESENTS
TRUTHS THAT TRANSFORM.
RADICAL ISLAM HAS KILLED THOUSANDS IN SYRIA, IRAQ,
AND AROUND THE MIDDLE EAST OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS.
AND IT IS DISPLACING THOUSANDS MORE.
HOW CAN YOU PERSONALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
FIND OUT ON TODAY'S TRUTHS THAT TRANSFORM.
THIS IS TRUTHS THAT TRANSFORM.
♪
WELCOME TO TRUTHS THAT TRANSFORM, A PRODUCTION OF
D. JAMES KENNEDY MINISTRIES, WHERE WE ARE STANDING FOR
TRUTH AND DEFENDING YOUR FREEDOM.
RADICAL ISLAM IS ON THE MARCH AROUND THE WORLD.
JUST IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS, WE'VE SEEN ATTACKS
IN ENGLAND AND FRANCE.
AND JUST LAST YEAR, A GUNMAN CLAIMING LOYALTY TO
ISIS KILLED 49 PEOPLE IN A NIGHTCLUB IN ORLANDO.
IN THE MIDDLE-EAST, THE PICTURE IS EVEN BLEAKER,
WITH CHRISTIANS BEING MURDERED EN MASSE BY
RADICAL MUSLIMS, AND MANY BEING FORCED TO FLEE THEIR
HOMES FOR SAFETY.
ON THIS PROGRAM, YOU'LL DISCOVER MORE ABOUT THE
NATURE OF RADICAL ISLAM.
AND WE'LL SHARE WITH YOU AN OPPORTUNITY TO
PERSONALLY AID FAMILIES WHO ARE ON THE RUN FROM
ISLAMISTS.
AS WE BEGIN, WE'RE JOINED BY CAMILLE MELKI OF HEART
FOR LEBANON, AN ORGANIZATION DOING
IMPORTANT WORK IN THIS AREA.
CAMILLE, THANKS FOR BEING WITH US.
THANK YOU FRANK, IT'S GREAT TO BE WITH YOU.
PLEASURE TO HAVE YOU HERE.
THANK YOU SIR.
I DON'T THINK TOO MANY PEOPLE FULLY UNDERSTAND
WHY LEBANON IS SO CENTRAL TO THE WHOLE REFUGEE ISSUE
IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
EXPLAIN TO US WHAT'S UNIQUE ABOUT LEBANON.
YEAH FRANK, YOU KNOW THE UNITED NATIONS AND
INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY LOOKS AT THE SITUATION IN
THE MIDDLE EAST AND REALIZES THAT WE ARE TODAY
AT THE WORST MIGRATION ROUTE SINCE WORLD WAR II.
IN FACT, THE WAR IN SYRIA IS CONSIDERED THE WORST
HUMANITARIAN CRISIS SINCE WORLD WAR II.
BECAUSE OF THE DISPLACEMENT?
BECAUSE OF THE DISPLACEMENT, BECAUSE OF
THE MAGNITUDE OF THE PEOPLE THAT ARE BEING
KILLED AND INJURED, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT HALF OF THE
SYRIAN POPULATION.
HALF OF THE 27 MILLION WHO LIVE IN SYRIA ARE DIRECTLY
AFFECTED.
8 MILLION OF THEM LIVE AS INTERNAL DISPLACED FOLKS
IN THE COUNTRY OF SYRIA.
AN ADDITIONAL 5 MILLION HAVE CROSSED THE BORDERS,
MANY OF THEM TO LEBANON.
LEBANON TODAY IS CONSIDERED AS THE LARGEST
PER CAPITA HOST OF REFUGEES WORLDWIDE.
THERE IS NO NATION ON THIS PLANET EARTH THAT HAS MORE
REFUGEES PER CAPITA.
WE'RE A POPULATION OF 4 MILLION, AND TODAY WE HAVE
2 MILLION REFUGEES FROM SYRIA, FROM IRAQ, AND FROM
PALESTINE.
COME TO THINK ABOUT IT, LEBANON IS THE HOST OF
MANY WHO ARE FLEEING TURMOIL, FURTHERMORE
FLEEING RADICAL ISLAMISTS.
THE REASON WHY THEY COME TO LEBANON IS BECAUSE THE
COUNTRY OF LEBANON DESPITE ALL OUR DIFFICULTIES AND
ALL OUR CHALLENGES, WE STILL TEND TO BE MORE
DEMOCRATIC AS A NATION THAN ANY OTHER ARAB NATION
IN THE MIDDLE EAST.
ALSO THE COUNTRY OF LEBANON HAS A LARGE
CHRISTIAN POPULATION.
SO PAINT THE PICTURE FOR ME OF A FAMILY COMING OVER
THE MOUNTAIN, THEY'RE COMING DOWN INTO THE HILLS
OF LEBANON AND THE PLACES WHERE YOU HAVE ALL OF YOUR
EFFORTS TO REACH OUT TO PEOPLE.
WHEN THEY GET THERE WHERE DO THEY GO, HOW DO THEY
KNOW WHERE TO GO?
HERE'S THE SAD PART, LEBANON HASN'T RECOGNIZED
THE REFUGEE'S RIGHTS SO THE UNITED NATIONS HAS
VERY LIMITED SERVICES TO PROVIDE TO THE REFUGEES SO
BASICALLY WHEN THEY SHOW UP THEY REALLY ALL CAN DO
IS PITCH A TENT IN THE BEQAA VALLEY WHICH IS AN
AGRICULTURE VALLEY BETWEEN THE TWO MOUNTAINOUS
TERRAINS, ACROSS FROM THE SYRIAN BORDERS.
WHEN THEY GET TO THE BEQAA VALLEY THAT'S WHERE HEART
FOR LEBANON, OUR TEAM MEETS THEM FIRST.
WE HAVE A CENTER IN ZAHLÉ, ZAHLÉ IS THE CAPITAL OF
THE PROVINCE IN THE BEQAA, AND OUR TEAM IS VERY WELL
TRAINED, FIRST TO PROVIDE THE BASIC NECESSITIES OF
SURVIVAL, AND THEN ASSESS THE FAMILIES WHO NEED THE
MOST HELP AND PROVIDE BLANKETS, CLOTHES, FOOD,
MEDICAL CARE, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING THAT WE COULD
PUT OUR HANDS ON TO HELP A REFUGEE SURVIVE THE
HARDSHIP THAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH.
I'M TRYING TO IMAGINE MYSELF AND MY FAMILY
FLEEING FOR OUR LIVES AND THEN WHEN WE GET TO THE
BEQAA WE SEE FRIENDLY FACES FOR THE FIRST TIME.
IT MUST BE VERY EMOTIONAL WHEN YOU COME AND EMBRACE
THESE PEOPLE AND SAY, OK IT'S BEEN ROUGH BUT WE'RE
GOING TO HELP YOU NOW.
THAT'S VERY TRUE AND OUR BASIS OF WORK IS VERY
RELATIONAL, WE DON'T ONLY WANT TO GIVE HUMANITARIAN
AID FOR SURVIVAL, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THESE
REFUGEES RECOGNIZE THAT THE COMPASSIONATE HEART OF
JESUS CHRIST IS WHAT DRIVES US.
WE SAY AT HEART FOR LEBANON, DRIVEN BY THE
COMPASSIONATE HEART OF JESUS CHRIST, HEART FOR
LEBANON EXISTS TO SEE LIVES CHANGED AND
COMMUNITIES TRANSFORMED, SO OUR DESIRE IS NOT ONLY
THEY ARE FED AND CLOTHED, NOT ONLY THAT THEY RECEIVE
MEDICAL CARE, BUT THAT THEIR DIGNITY IS RESTORED
AND THEIR TRUST IN HUMANITY IS RESTORED AND
THROUGH THAT DEVELOP A TRUST RELATIONSHIP WHERE
WE COULD SHARE THE LOVE OF JESUS CHRIST WITH EVERY
FAMILY WE SERVE.
YOU KNOW I'M A DAD I'VE GOT THREE KIDS AND WHEN
THEY WERE SMALL I THINK ABOUT HOW VULNERABLE THEY
ARE OUT IN THE WORLD SO I'M PICTURING A DAD COMING
OVER THE MOUNTAIN OR A MOM OR AS YOU SAY ANY MIXTURE
OF FAMILY WITH MY YOUNG CHILDREN.
DESCRIBE SOME OF THESE YOUNG KIDS WHEN THEY COME.
WELL HERE'S ONE IN PARTICULAR.
A YOUNG LITTLE GIRL CAME TO ME MAYBE A MONTH AGO,
HER NAME WAS RAJAV.
SHE SAID, PRAY WITH ME, PRAY WITH ME THAT MY UNCLE
WILL BE RELEASED FROM JAIL.
NOW, SHE CAUGHT ME OFF GUARD, YOU KNOW I'M
WALKING AT ONE OF OUR SCHOOLS, WE HAVE 300
STUDENTS THERE AND I KNOW RAJAV IS FROM SYRIA, I
KNOW THAT SHE HAS COME WITH HER MOTHER, SHE HAS
LOST HER FATHER, SHE HAS LOST HER OLDER BROTHER,
SHE HAS LOST HER GRANDFATHER, SO SHE LOST
THREE DEAR FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE WAR IN SYRIA BUT I
DID NOT KNOW THAT SHE HAS NOT ONE BUT TWO UNCLES
THAT WERE PUT IN JAIL BY THE SYRIAN REGIME.
YOU KNOW, I SAT HER DOWN, I WANT TO KNOW WHAT SHE
KNOWS ABOUT JESUS FIRST AND I SAID RAV, TELL ME A
LITTLE BIT, SHE SAID WELL EVERY NIGHT AT THE TENT ME
AND MY COUSIN WILL KNEEL DOWN AND WE PRAY, WE READ
THE SCRIPTURE AND WE PRAY.
I SAID, SCRIPTURE, SHE GAVE ME THAT LOOK THAT'S
LIKE, DON'T YOU KNOW THAT THEY GIVE US BIBLES AT THE
SCHOOL.
AND THEN FROM THERE ON, SHE WENT AND TOLD ME, IF
YOU'RE REALLY DIGGING DEEP JESUS IS IN MY HEART, I
HAVE ACCEPTED HIM AS MY PERSONAL SAVIOR.
I SAID, AND DOES YOUR MOTHER KNOW?
SHE SAID, YES, MY MOTHER CANNOT READ AND WRITE BUT
WHAT SHE DOES EVERY NIGHT SHE ASKS US TO COME AND
READ THE BIBLE FOR HER.
SO HERE IS RAJAV WHO HAS ACCEPTED CHRIST AS HER
PERSONAL SAVIOR AND WHO IS NOW LEADING HER FAMILY,
HER MOTHER AND SISTERS AND COUSINS TO CHRIST AS WELL.
ON THE WAY OUT AFTER THIS LITTLE TALK WITH HER, SHE
LOOKED AT ME AND SHE SAID AND I WILL BE PRAYING FOR
YOU, 12 YEAR OLD RAJAV.
WELL WE'RE DELIGHTED CAMILLE TO PARTNER WITH
YOU, YOU'RE SUCH A STRATEGIC MINISTRY AND ONE
SO FAITHFUL TO THE GOSPEL AND TO YOUR LORD AND
SAVIOR, THANKS SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE.
THANK YOU FRANK, GOD BLESS YOU.
IT'S A PLEASURE.
LATER IN THIS PROGRAM, WE'LL TELL YOU HOW YOU CAN
JOIN US IN HELPING HEART FOR LEBANON ACCOMPLISH
THEIR CRUCIAL WORK IN ASSISTING FAMILIES FLEEING
FROM RADICAL ISLAM, AND MINISTERING TO THEM WITH
THE GOSPEL.
AT ROOT, RADICAL MUSLIMS PROCEED BASED ON THEIR
IDEA OF ULTIMATE TRUTH.
AND THAT'S TRUE OF ALL OF US AS WELL ISN'T IT?
WHAT WE BELIEVE MATTERS.
SO WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BELIEFS OF
CHRISTIANS AND THOSE OF MUSLIMS?
OR HINDUS, OR BUDDHISTS, AND OTHER RELIGIONS FOR
THAT MATTER?
DR. D. JAMES KENNEDY EXPLAINS IN THIS PORTION OF HIS MESSAGE,
"WHAT ABOUT THESE OTHER GODS?"
WHAT ABOUT ALL THOSE OTHER GODS HAS BEEN A QUESTION
THAT MILLIONS OF AMERICANS HAVE ASKED?
ARE THEY REAL?
ARE THEY FALSE?
WHAT SHOULD WE THINK?
WELL, SOME PEOPLE HAVE SAID, "WELL, YOU SEE,
THERE IS REALLY JUST ONE RELIGION AND WITH
DIFFERENT FACES, AND WE'RE ALL BASICALLY GOING TO THE
SAME GOD THROUGH DIFFERENT PATHS.
THIS WAS A WAY THAT WE COULD SORT OF TONE DOWN
ANY CONFLICTS THAT MIGHT EXIST.
BUT THEN PEOPLE BEGAN TO LOOK AT THEM A LITTLE BIT
MORE CAREFULLY, AND WE DISCOVERED THAT OF THOSE
THREE- BUDDHISM, HINDUISM, AND ISLAM: THAT ISLAM IS A
RADICAL MONOTHEISTIC RELIGION, WHICH MEANS THAT
IT BELIEVES VERY DEFINITELY IN ONLY ONE GOD
AND MAKES NO ROOM IN THAT UNITARY GOD FOR EVEN THE
CHRISTIAN TRINITY.
WHEREAS, RIGHT NEXT DOOR, WHERE ISLAM ABUTS INDIA,
WE HAVE HINDUISM WHERE THEY HAVE ANYWHERE FROM
300,000 TO 3 MILLION GODS.
NOBODY REALLY KNOWS FOR SURE.
BUT IF YOU KEEP GOING EAST YOU RUN INTO BUDDHISM AND
THEY HAVE NO GOD AT ALL- AT LEAST MOST OF THEM.
IN CHICAGO AT THE WORLD PARLIAMENT OF WORLD
RELIGIONS, 6000 PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
GATHERED TO TRY TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE MESS,
SOLVE THE PROBLEM, AND FIGURE OUT JUST WHAT
REALLY WAS GOING ON.
SO, WHAT WAS THE SOLUTION?
THERE WAS NONE.
ALL THEY DID WAS COME UP WITH SOME ETHICAL
SUGGESTIONS.
SO RELIGION HAD DISSOLVED ENTIRELY, LEAVING NOTHING
BUT ETHICS AT THE WORLD PARLIAMENT OF RELIGION.
ISN'T THAT IRONIC, TO SAY THE LEAST, AND CERTAINLY
THAT WORLD PARLIAMENT WAS THE DEATH KNELL OF THIS
IDEA THAT ALL RELIGIONS ARE BASICALLY THE SAME.
THAT IS AN OPTION THAT JUST DOES NOT REMAIN OPEN
TO ANY RATIONAL BEING.
ERWIN LUTZER, IN AN EXCELLENT TEXT, SAYS,
"I BELIEVE THAT THE SCRIPTURES REQUIRE US TO
VIEW OTHER RELIGIONS AS THE FLAWED ATTEMPTS OF MAN
TO REACH GOD THROUGH HUMAN EFFORT AND INSIGHT.
JESUS, YOU MAY RECALL, IN THE GOSPEL OF JOHN, SAYS,
"I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD; ALL THAT EVER CAME BEFORE
ME WERE THIEVES AND ROBBERS, AND THE THIEF
COMETH NOT BUT TO STEAL AND TO KILL.
I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD THAT LAYETH DOWN MY LIFE
FOR THE SHEEP."
NO ONE ELSE LAID DOWN HIS LIFE FOR ANY SHEEP, BUT
JESUS.
SO CHRIST SAYS THAT THESE ARE NOT, BY ANY MEANS,
GODS.
AND IN ALL PAGAN RELIGIONS THERE WAS ONE UNDERLYING
REALITY, AND THAT IS THAT ESSENTIALLY PEOPLE ARE
WORSHIPING WITHOUT KNOWING IT THESE DEMONS OR FALLEN
ANGELS, AND ALL OF THEIR EFFORTS ARE ALWAYS EFFORTS
TO TRY TO AFFECT THEIR OWN SALVATION.
THE GREAT TWO QUESTIONS THAT RELIGION ASKS IS,
"WHO IS GOD?"
AND "HOW CAN I BE WITH HIM FOREVER."
GOD AND SALVATION.
AND ALL PAGAN RELIGION, THOUGH IT IS IN ALL OF
THAT PHANTASMAGORIA CONFUSING AND COMPLEXING,
NEVERTHELESS BOILS DOWN TO MAN'S EFFORT TO SAVE
HIMSELF.
SO THE WORSHIP IS GIVEN TO THE CREATURE, AND IT IS
THE CREATURE'S EFFORTS TO SAVE HIMSELF, THAT ALL OF
THEIR HOPES ARE BUILT UPON, AS OPPOSED TO
CHRIST, WHO IS THE LIVING GOD, WHO HAS PROVED
HIMSELF SUCH BY HIS RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD
AND WHO FREELY GIVES ETERNAL LIFE BY HIS GRACE
AS A GIFT TO ALL OF THOSE THAT WILL TRUST IN HIM.
AS DR. KENNEDY SHARED TODAY, THERE IS A VAST
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHRISTIANITY AND OTHER
WORLD RELIGIONS.
AND BECAUSE OF THOSE DIFFERENCES- BECAUSE
CHRISTIANITY ALONE ANSWERS THE GREAT QUESTIONS OF
HUMANITY- CHRISTIANITY HAS TRANSFORMED THE WORLD FOR
THE GOOD IN WAYS THAT NO OTHER FAITH HAS.
BECAUSE OF THE ONGOING CONFLICT IN OUR WORLD LED
BY RADICAL ISLAM, IT IS ESSENTIAL TO KNOW WHAT
ISLAM TEACHES- AND HOW IT CONTRASTS WITH THE TRUTH
OF CHRISTIANITY.
DR. JERRY NEWCOMBE HAS MORE.
WE ARE TOLD REPEATEDLY THAT ISLAM IS A RELIGION
OF PEACE.
AND THAT ALL RELIGIONS ARE BASICALLY THE SAME.
BUT IS THAT TRUE?
WHAT DIFFERENCES DO WE FIND WHEN WE COMPARE ISLAM
AND CHRISTIANITY?
IF YOU READ AUGUSTINE, WHO LIVED IN NORTH AFRICA, IN
TUNISIA, WHAT IS TUNISIA TODAY, HE DESCRIBES
GARDENS AND LUSH VILLAS AND BEAUTIFUL LIME STREETS
WITH MAGNIFICENT TREES, WITH DATES THAT COULD BE
PLUCKED OFF.
BUT THEN CAME THE ISLAMIC INVASION IN THE 7TH
CENTURY AND CENTURIES OF ISLAMIC RULE IN NORTH
AFRICA, ALONG THE COAST OF THE MEDITERRANEAN.
GO THERE TODAY, WHAT DO YOU SEE?
ITS BARREN, IT'S NOT JUST A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE
CROWDED INTO THE REGION, IT'S THERE ARE NO TREES:
THERE ARE NO GARDENS, ITS HORRIFYING.
IT'S A WASTELAND.
WORLDVIEW HAS VERY PRACTICAL IMMEDIATE
RESULTS.
IT'S WHY THE WEST HAS SEEN THIS FLOWERING OF ART,
MUSIC, LITERATURE, AND IDEAS.
WHEN I TAKE TOUR GROUPS TO EUROPE, YOU SEE SO MANY
CATHEDRALS, EVEN LITTLE PARISH CHURCHES IN
NEIGHBORHOODS, THEY'RE EVERYWHERE.
THE PROFUSION OF GLORY, OF BEAUTY, OF OPPORTUNITY, OF
FREEDOM, OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UNDER A
CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW IS SO PROFOUNDLY DIFFERENT FROM
ANYTHING ELSE THAT HAS EVER EXISTED IN ALL OF
HUMAN HISTORY.
IF YOU'VE EVER WALKED THE STREETS OF BAGHDAD WHICH I
HAVE, IF YOU'VE EVER WALKED THE STREETS OF
SULAYMANIYAH WHICH I HAVE, IF YOU'VE WALKED THE
STREETS OF KIRKUK WHICH I HAVE, I HONESTLY WOULD
RATHER WALK IN THE WORST PARTS OF NEWARK OR
DETROIT.
IT'S FRIGHTENING, IT'S POOR.
IT'S CRUMBLING.
HERE'S A PLACE IN THE WORLD WHERE THERE IS SO
MUCH WEALTH DUE TO THE NATURAL RESOURCES OF OIL,
AND PEOPLE ARE LIVING IN SQUALOR.
THAT'S THE RESULT OF A WORLDVIEW, WHERE PEOPLE
DON'T MATTER.
IDEAS HAVE CONSEQUENCES.
AND THERE IS A GREAT DEAL OF DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A
CHRISTIAN AND AN ISLAMIC VIEW OF LIFE.
IN HIS BOOK THE POLITICALLY INCORRECT
GUIDE TO ISLAM, ROBERT SPENCER REPEATEDLY
CONTRASTS THE TEACHINGS OF MUHAMMAD WITH THOSE OF
JESUS.
FOR EXAMPLE.
AND THERE ARE MANY OTHER DIFFERENCES.
ISLAMIC THEOCRACY HAS A PROFOUNDLY DIFFERENT
EFFECT ON A CULTURE THAN CHRISTIANITY DOES.
WE HAVE NEW TESTAMENT TEACHING THAT TELLS US TO
RENDER ONTO CAESAR WHAT IS CAESAR'S AND TO GOD WHAT
IS GOD'S, WE RECOGNIZE THAT THERE IS A SEPARATE
PUBLIC SPHERE, A PUBLIC LIFE, AND THAT'S IT NOT
QUITE THE SAME AS OUR SPIRITUAL LIFE.
ISLAM DOES NOT RECOGNIZE ANY DISTINCTION BETWEEN
THE SECULAR SPHERE AND THE SPIRITUAL SPHERE.
SHARIA, THE ISLAMIC LEGAL AND POLITICAL SYSTEM DOES
NOT, IS NOT SOMETHING THAT IS CONFINED TO SPIRITUAL
LIFE: IT IS A TOTALITARIAN SYSTEM IN THE LITERAL
SENSE OF THAT WORD IN THAT IT WANTS TO CONTROL EVERY
ASPECT OF HUMAN LIFE.
A GREAT CONTRAST BETWEEN CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM
CENTERS AROUND THE ASSURANCE OF SALVATION-
OR THE LACK THEREOF.
THE APOSTLE EVANGELIST ST. JOHN SAYS IN HIS FIRST
EPISTLE THAT "I WRITE THESE THINGS SO THAT YOU
MAY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE AND ETERNAL
LIFE IS IN THE SON."
THE REALITY IS THAT THAT KIND OF PRINCIPLE IS
NOWHERE IN ISLAM: THERE IS NO ASSURANCE OF SALVATION,
A PROMISE OF SALVATION IN ISLAM: THERE IS ONLY THE
IDEA THAT IF YOUR GOOD DEEDS OUTWEIGH YOUR BAD
DEEDS THEN YOU WILL GO INTO PARADISE.
HOWEVER, AND THIS IS A BIG HOWEVER, THERE IS ONE
GUARANTEE OF PARADISE TO ONE GROUP OF PEOPLE IN THE
QUR'AN AND THAT'S IN CHAPTER IX VERSE 111 WHERE
PARADISE IS GUARANTEED TO THOSE WHO KILL AND ARE
KILLED FOR ALLAH.
THAT IS THE JUSTIFICATION THAT IS GIVEN WHEN SUICIDE
BOMBING RECRUITERS ARE TRYING TO GET SUICIDE BOMBERS.
THEY TELL THEM YOU'LL ENTER PARADISE THIS WAY,
IT'S GUARANTEED!
AND SO THEY GET ESPECIALLY A LOT OF YOUNG MEN WHO
LIKE THE IDEA OF ALL THESE VIRGINS AND THEY THINK
THAT THEY'RE GUARANTEED TO BE ENJOYING THEIR COMPANY
FOREVER: THEY SIGN UP TO BE SUICIDE BOMBERS.
MOHAMMED ATTA AND HIS COHORTS WERE ABLE TO GO TO
STRIP CLUBS BEFORE 9/11 BECAUSE THEY KNEW THEY
WERE GOING TO COMMIT A GREAT DEED OF JIHAD THAT
WOULD OUTWEIGH ALL THEIR BAD DEEDS, SO IT'S
ESSENTIALLY A FREE PASS: IT'S AS IF YOU CAN DO
WHATEVER YOU WANT AND GOD WON'T MIND BECAUSE YOU'RE
GOING TO DO JIHAD AND THAT'S GOING TO OUTWEIGH IT ALL.
CHRISTIANITY, ON THE OTHER HAND, IS A DEMONSTRATION
OF A WHOLE LIFE THAT IS ACCOMPLISHED FOR US WHEN
WE WERE UNABLE TO ACCOMPLISH ANY OF THE
RIGHTEOUS STEPS BETWEEN US AND GOD.
WE HAVE THIS DOUBLE TRANSACTION WHERE CHRIST
ACTUALLY TAKES OUR SIN, PAYS THE PENALTY FOR IT,
AND THEN IN A SECOND TRANSACTION AND THIS IS
THE MARVEL, HE TAKES HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, PLACES IT
ON US, ADOPTS US AS SONS AND DAUGHTERS,
THE WORLDVIEWS ARE VASTLY DIFFERENT.
BUT WE ARE REPEATEDLY TOLD ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE.
ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE, YES.
THE PEACE THAT ISLAM ENVISIONS IS THE PEACE
THAT WILL COME WHEN THE WHOLE WORLD IS RULED BY
ISLAMIC LAW AND MUSLIMS HAVE THE OBLIGATION TO
WAGE WAR AGAINST NON-MUSLIMS UNTIL THAT
TIME, AND SO IT'S A RELIGION OF VIOLENCE AND
HATRED AND SUPREMACISM, ULTIMATELY CULMINATING IN
AN ERA OF PEACE THAT WILL SEE THE ESSENTIAL
ENSLAVEMENT OF NON-MUSLIMS.
AS YOU'VE JUST SEEN, THERE IS A VAST DIFFERENCE
BETWEEN JESUS AND MUHAMMAD; BETWEEN
CHRISTIANITY AND ISLAM.
AND THAT DIFFERENCE INCLUDES HOW THE FAITH IS
SPREAD.
CHRISTIANITY SPREADS BY PERSUASION AND EVANGELISM.
ISLAM HAS HISTORICALLY SPREAD BY THE SWORD.
AND IN OUR DAY, THOUSANDS ARE BEING KILLED IN
NATIONS LIKE IRAQ AND SYRIA FOR REFUSING TO BOW
TO ISLAM'S SWORD.
AND THOUSANDS MORE ARE FLEEING.

RECENTLY ON THE TONIGHT SHOW, CELEBRITY ACTOR ROB
LOWE WAS ASKED IF HE HAD ONLY ONE WISH, WHAT WOULD
HE WISH FOR?
HE ANSWERED, "ETERNAL LIFE."
IN THE CONTEXT OF A LATE-NIGHT COMEDY SHOW,
THE PROFUNDITY OF HIS ANSWER COULD BE MISSED,
BUT HIS ANSWER IS HONEST AND TELLING.
THE DESIRE TO LIVE ETERNALLY- EVEN AFTER WE
DIE- IS UNIVERSAL.
IT'S THE REASON PEOPLE STRIVE TO LEAVE THEIR MARK
ON THE WORLD.
IT'S WHY PEOPLE JOIN CAUSES AND PUT THEIR NAMES
ON BUILDINGS AND COMPANIES.
BUT IN TRUTH, THERE IS A WAY TO HAVE ETERNAL LIFE-
IT'S THROUGH FAITH IN THE LIFE, DEATH, AND
RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST, THE SON OF THE
LIVING GOD.
ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS VERSES IN GOD'S WORD TELLS US,
BUT TRAGICALLY, MANY IGNORE THAT TRUTH,
SEARCHING FOR SUBSTITUTE PATHS TO EVERLASTING LIFE.
SOME PERPETRATE SUICIDE ATTACKS UPON INNOCENT
VICTIMS, HOPING TO IMPRESS GOD ENOUGH TO GRANT THEM
SALVATION.
OTHERS PAY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO
HAVE THEIR BODIES FROZEN AFTER DEATH, HOPING THAT
MATERIALISTIC SCIENCE WILL ONE DAY FIND THE KEY TO
IMMORTALITY.
IN REALITY, DEATH WILL COME TO US ALL.
THE SCRIPTURE SAYS,
ISLAM MAKES NO PROMISES FOR ETERNAL LIFE, AND MANY
TRY TO SECURE IT BY VIOLENCE.
BUDDHISM TELLS US THAT OUR INDIVIDUAL LIFE IS AN
ILLUSION, AND THAT DEATH MERELY RETURNS US TO THE
UNDIFFERENTIATED POOL FROM WHICH WE CAME.
ATHEISM SAYS WE ARE MERELY A TEMPORARY CHEMICAL
ACCIDENT.
ONLY JESUS CHRIST, WHO PAID FOR OUR SINS ON THE
CROSS AND OVERCAME DEATH IN HIS RESURRECTION, CAN
TRULY OFFER THE ETERNAL LIFE WE ALL SEEK.
AND HE DOES SO AS AN ABSOLUTELY FREE GIFT-
OFFERED TO THOSE WHO WILL TRUST IN HIM BY FAITH.
WE ARE STANDING FOR TRUTH AND DEFENDING YOUR
FREEDOM.
I'M FRANK WRIGHT.
THANKS FOR JOINING US FOR TRUTHS THAT TRANSFORM,
WE'LL SEE YOU NEXT TIME.
NEXT WEEK ON TRUTHS THAT TRANSFORM.
THERE ARE 2 GREAT THREATS WHICH ARE THREATS NOT ONLY
TO AMERICA BUT ALSO TO CHRISTIANITY AND THE
WORLD; ONE IS MILITANT ISLAM.
INTERESTING THAT WE SHOULD SHOW SUCH DEFERENCE TO
ISLAM WHICH ACTUALLY HAS VIRTUALLY NO TOLERANCE
ECUMENICALLY SPEAKING FOR THE BELIEF SYSTEMS AND
PRACTICES OF OTHER RELIGIONS.
THAT'S NEXT WEEK.
TODAY'S PROGRAM IS AVAILABLE ON DVD FOR YOUR
GIFT TO THIS MINISTRY OF ANY AMOUNT.
PLEASE CALL, WRITE, OR LOG ON TO OUR WEBSITE TODAY.

Learn Finnish by listening! Lakes in Finland - Duration: 1:54.Moi! Mä oon nyt tässä Tampereella järven rannalla Hi! I'm now here in Tampere by a lake
niin mä ajattelin kertoo teille vähän suomalaisista järvistä. so I thought to tell you a bit about Finnish lakes.
Eli järviä on Suomessa noin satakaheksankytkaheksantuhatta, So there are about 188 000 lakes in Finland,
riippuen tietenki, mitkä kaikki lasketaan järviks. depending on of course, which all are counted as lakes.
Vaikka järviä on paljon, niin vettä niissä on aika vähän Although there are many lakes, there's quite a little water in them
ja järvien keskisyvyys Suomessa on vaan seittemän metriä. and the lakes' average depth in Finland is only 7 metres.
Järvissä voi tosi hyvin uida ja järvet on tosi puhtaita, In lakes one can very well swim and the lakes are very clean,
vaikka vesi näyttääkin vähän tummalta. even though the water looks like a bit dark.
Se johtuu vaan havumetsistä tulevasta humuksesta. It originates only from humus coming from coniferous forests.
Ja kesällä onkin tosi ihanaa uida järvissä, And in summer it's very lovely to swim in the lakes,
vesi on yleensä suomalaisille aika lämmintä, water is usually for Finns quite warm,
varsinki jos koko päivän on paistanu aurinko. especially if all day the sun has been shining.
Ja pintavesi saattaa olla niinku linnunmaitoa. And the surface water might be like nectar (literally: bird's milk).
Suomen järvet on syntyny siis viimesen jääkauden aikana, Finland's lakes were born thus during the last ice age,
koska mannerjäätikkö, joka on tullut... because the ice sheet that has come...
(now I'm thinking about the right compass point...)
(and I still say it wrong!) Lounaasta kaakkoon kulkenu mannerjäätikkö From South-West to South-East travelled ice sheet
on uurtanu kallioon tällasia altaita, has grooved in the rock these kinds of basins,
jotka on sitte täyttyny vedellä. that have then become filled with water.
Järvissä voi hyvin kalastella tai veneillä, In lakes one can well do fishing or ride a boat,
tai harrastaa muuta vesiliikuntaa. or do other aquatic sports.
Katotaan, kuinka lämmintä vesi on tällä hetkellä. Let's see, how warm the water is at the moment.
Kyllä mä menisin vielä uimaan, on se sen verran lämmintä, I would go still swimming, it's warm enough,
vaikka onki jo elokuu ja syksy alkaa olla tuloillaan. although it's already August and the autumn is beginning to arrive.
Jos tässä ois rantasauna niin olis kyllä ihanaa If here would be a beach sauna, it would indeed be lovely
käydä ensi vähän löylyissä ja sit hypätä go first in sauna bath and then jump
suoraan järveen uiskentelemaan. directly to the lake to swim around.
No niin ei muuta tällä kertaa. Seuraavaan kertaan! Ok nothing else this time. Until next time!
