The Bodyguard writer Jed Mercurio said he'd love to do another run, but there were no concrete plans.

Speaking to TV Times, he said: "There are no plans for the show to return at the moment.

"I'm certainly interested in doing another one, although it's a harder format to turn into a returning series than Line of Duty was.

"I do have a few ideas floating about, but it's up to the BBC if they want to recommission it, and I haven't had a conversation with them about it yet." Daily Star Online has contacted BBC for comment.
