It's a great privilege for us to be here with you.
If you want to go forward, you need to learn from your mistakes.
Come on! Keep pushing yourselves! To the limit! To the limit!
You know why you're here.
Give it your all, you're good!
Don't question your ability.
Those are our values! That's Roubaix! Nothing else!
You've got the talent, the skills, victory – it's all yours.
I'm really proud of you.
Are you hurt?
No, I'm OK.
Are you alright?
See you later.
Yes, see you.
Lots of love.
What time are you playing?
3:30 pm.
3:30 pm?
Yes. OK?
OK.
I may call you just before going on the pitch.
OK, that's fine.
just to see you before playing. OK?
Yes.
I love you very much.
OK, see you, lots of love.
Me too.
We'll let you do the rest of the journey
together, as a team, like you have done all season.
I wanted to say: enjoy every moment.
Enjoy the butterflies that you will gradually feel
and that some already must start to feel.
That's good, because you're also going to enjoy being with your
mates, the guys around you and who will be with you on the pitch later on.
That's important.
You're going to start pulling together again, focusing on
your goal above all, enjoying yourselves.
Best of luck, and we'll be in the stands watching you.
Have a great match, guys!
Thanks very much!
Lastly, I can't tell you what a priviledge
and what a pleasure it has been for me and for all of us,
I think, to spend time with you.
Stay exactly as you are
and do what you can today, that will be enough.
Thanks guys!
Good luck!
Thanks!
I've only got one thing to say to you:
I just have one thing to say to you:
if we respect the Squadra like we have since the start of season,
nothing can happen to us.
The best thing that can happen would be for us to lift the trophy together!
We know what we want, together!
It's all in the head, only in the head!
We're together.
The 22 of us are one single unit.
Enjoy the moment.
We'll tell our kids about it, we'll talk about it down the pub.
This is for us. It's our moment!
See Thomas Pereira, we're crying
because he isn't with us.
I love you, guys.
We're going to do it. I swear to you we're going to do it.
Gentlemen, I'll see you at 5:30 pm with the trophy.
Welcome to Anzin, in the North, for the kick off
of the final of the 2018 Championship of Flanders between Roubaix,
who were first in the regular season, and IRIS-Lille, who were second.
IRIS have the ball at the start of the match.
The Lille players are feeling confident,
having been the only team to beat RCR during the regular season.
Lille players are looking for ways through and finding them.
The Roubaix defence are retreating.
That was a clever kick behind the Roubaix defence.
Vanhelstraeten misread the bounce of the ball but not the Lille winger who took the ball at the last second!
He's gonna score a try!
No.
When trying to get back, Vanhelstraeten caused a foul.
What is he blowing the whistle for?
What does he say about the try?
Penalty try?
For the other side, yes.
What a blow for Roubaix, after just a few minutes.
But Roubaix are getting their game together.
Come on! Come on!
Play!
The RCR forwards are keeping the ball well.
There is ruck, they keep pushing forward.
They force IRIS into a foul.
Go for the points!
Pierre Neirynck decides to take a quick free kick.
A long kick for his brother Martin.
They're playing a bit too fast, they seem to be rushing.
We need to keep the ball a little longer.
We're trying to go too fast.
Calm down, guys.
It's a shame they didn't get the three points, because
that would have kept them within reach.
Roubaix are on the attack again, great catch in the lineout.
That's well done.
Let's play it long.
False call by the inside-centre.
Pierre Neirynck passes directly to Martin Neirynck who has arrived alongside him.
Neirynck breaks through the Lille defence and scores under the posts!
Roubaix are almost on level terms now.
It's OK now.
Come on, guys!
Lille don't let up and come forward.
Oh! He's tackled him round his throat.
Three more points for the Lille goal kicker.
Still a solid performance from IRIS. They keep pressing forward.
Another free kick given away by Roubaix.
The scores are level.
Offside!
We knew that it wasn't going to be easy.
Take a look at yourselves!
Focus!
There's nothing in it: 13 to 7.
Six points, guys!
We know how to play with the ball.
We concentrate, we don't play impossible passes.
We need to fight harder!
Just one thing: patience.
I mean, don't go into tackles with one hand,
keep the ball close to you and clear the way.
When we go forward, they're bound to give away a foul.
They're bound to give away a foul. You have to be patient.
OK? Pass the ball, Strat! Be bold!
Coach Yann Defives seems to have shaken up his players during the break,
The Roubaix players are totally transformed, they've come back raring to go.
But Lille are hanging on.
Yann Fournier creates space for Neirynck who once again finds his brother in the middle.
He passes to Rayan, who takes on the defence.
Ooh! What a tackle!
The chance for Roubaix to close the gap to three points.
It's good.
Come on! Very good, Strat!
The two teams are battling hard.
Neither one willing willing to give away anything to the other.
Lower, lower.
Down!
Down!
Foul. That's a foul. Of course.
Vanheltraeten has the opportunity to equalize.
And he's done it: it's 13 all with fifteen minutes to go.
Replacement, Ref.
Two, three, six, come on!
Come on, Fab.
Come on La Boule.
La Boule, La Boule!
Yes! Boule!
No!
It's incredible!
The two teams are matching each other blow for blow in this match.
Lille are on the Roubaix 40-metre line.
Watch out, there's a gap at the end of the line, he's seen it.
He passes inside to his scrum-half.
Then follows up with a kick. That's well done!
It's a long kick which bounces over their goal line!
They saved the game in the last minute!
Exceptional!
It's better being on the pitch, at at least you don't realise what's happening.
At least on the pitch, you can do something.
From here, it looks awful.
Come on, guys!
What a tough game!
Lille have just missed their and now Roubaix
are camped around Lille's goal posts, attacking their defence.
We can already see Pierre Neirynck, preparing for the drop goal.
Ten years ago, he scored the
three points that saw them promoted to Federal 3.
He has a match-winning kick.
It hasn't gone over!
No!
This is where we need to really work as a team.
It's now, because these kinds of
games are always really tight.
We knew that!
OK? So don't give an inch!
The Squadra will make the difference!
And we're going into extra time.
A few more minutes of pleasure.
What a match! What a match!
All the players are already reaching their limit.
It's impossible to say who's going to win the match.
Excellent!
Pushing forward to find one last gap.
Roubaix are playing really well.
The orange and black are dominating before the final whistle.
The tension is running high.
Nierynck is on the charge.
Next to him, he finds his brother who goes through their defence?
Will Martin Neirynck go for it on his own?
Come on, Martin!
He's looking for a team mate, finds Rayan who beats two defenders,
giving the opportunity to Maxime to score in the corner!
What a try!
What a move! What a move by Roubaix!
That's a great try.
It's not bad.
Rayan's doing everything.
He's flat out.
It's nothing, Rayan.
It's 18-13. A converted try would snatch the game from Roubaix and Lille won't let go.
Lille are on the attack.
Get up, Pierre!
Don't stop!
He's mad, I swear, they're gonna kill him.
Pierre, Martin: four minutes!
Well done Brez!
Come on Antoine, get stuck in!
Come on, Rayan! Rayan!
It's getting chaotic, guys.
Knock on!
It's over! It's over!
Roubaix wins 18-13!
RCR is the new champion of Flanders.
Dear Gillette, I hope you are OK.
I have to say, I really didn't know
what to expect when I came to Roubaix.
You wanted us to help your club and your town, so we came.
We leave here having received much more than we gave.
My experience tells me that your club already has everything it needs.
I felt a respect among the players and the members
and I find it simply incredible.
Whatever the result of the final was, it wasn't the most important.
Here, I have found the best that rugby has to offer:
joy, support,
above all, a living example that shows
what's possible when people decide to give 100%.
For me, that is the identity of this club.
I haven't just met players or a team, but
a kind of nation: the Rugby Club Roubaix nation.
Your club has a great future, as well as the town.
I am certain of it, Gillette.
You can be proud of everything you achieved.
With my greatest respect,
Jonny Wilkinson.
