Hi, guys. My name is Heather and you're
watching Zether Books. Today I get to let
you guys know what the three challenges
are for empty shelfie. The first challenge is
by Nikki and she would like for
you to read an anthology. The next
challenge was created by Taylor, who is
actually a returning host who is so
awesome on Twitter. We just had to get
her back because she kept us active and
looking good and we just we need Taylor
again. Her challenge for you is to
read a beach read. So this will be a book
that takes place around the beach or the
ocean. And my challenge for all of you is
to read a book with a main character who
is a villain or who is very unlikable. So
those are your challenges for June. I
hope you're super excited about them. Let
me know down below which one is your
favorite and if you plan on
participating. Now we do have Twitter
sprints and
I plan on having at least one event
during this month where I get on Twitter
and the other hosts get on Twitter and
we're just going to have a bit of a
Twitter reading party, so definitely make
sure you follow the Twitter account if
you would like to know when that's going
to happen because it has not been fully
planned out yet. And then of course if
you would like specific books to read,
and you love to have buddy reads,
there are two
books that we will be buddy reading
over at Zether's Book Club, which is linked
down below. It's on my Goodreads group.
The first book for that is going to
be Harry Potter and the Half-blood
Prince. This is the sixth book in the
Harry Potter series. I'm sure all of you
know what Harry Potter is, but if you
don't, it is about this boy who was
almost killed as a baby but somehow he
survived and then he finds out later on
that he is actually a wizard and goes to
this wizard school and then the guy who
attempted to kill him is reintroduced
into the world because even though
everyone thought he died he didn't. All of
the books threads are still up, so
if you want to start with book one you
can and I will definitely be responding
to whatever comments you leave on that
threat, but this is going to be the book
that we're reading together
for the month of June. The next book pick
is our adult pick. And that is going to
be "The Heart Goes Last" by Margaret
Atwood. This is the first Margaret Atwood
book that I will be reading, so I'm super
excited about it, and there was a few
other people in the group that said 'Yes, we
love Margaret Atwood. We'll do it !', so
there are going to be a few participants.
Join in on this if it
sounds interesting. I think this is
going to be a really good book to join
in on if you have not ventured into
adult literature yet. The reason why is
because this one feels a bit like a
dystopian. It is about a couple who is
jobless and they're living in their car
because economic collapse has happened.
There's roving gangs and stuff at
night. It's very dangerous to live on the
streets. So what they can do is
sign a lifelong contract with this
company and for six months out of every
year for the rest of their lives they
will have this fancy house and this
really good job and then for the other
six months the company pretty much owns
them and it is like prison and
modern-day slavery, so I'm really
interested in seeing how this book turns
out. Now if you're interested in knowing
what I will be reading for the
challenges that I mentioned before, be
sure to stick around. I'm going to be
letting you guys know those right now.
For the anthology I will be reading
"Snakes & Stones". This has several
authors of course because anthologies
have those. And this is a retelling of
Medusa's story in Greek mythology. There's
several different versions of it. There
are six stories and it is actually a YA
anthology based on Medusa. I've already
read the first story and I'm loving it,
so I'm really excited to read the other
five stories that I have to read. And if
you go and you follow my blog which is
linked down below then you will be able
to see the review for that. It will be up
no later than June 1st, 2017. Probably on June
1st
because I still want it to count for this
so I can't finish it until June 1st, but
I have to review it on June 1st.
The other challenge which was
to read a beach read I've decided to
read my first ever Sarah Dessen book.
For that I chose the shortest one I
owned because I have some hunkers I'm
reading this coming month and that is
going to be "That Summer". Now if you've
seen the movie How to Deal then I
believe that that movie is partially
based on this book and another one of
Sarah Dessen's books. I'm a chapter
into this and I see some of the characters
I believe we're in that movie but
the main character is not the same one,
so I think they kind of merged her with
the other character. I'm not completely
sure but this is about a girl who her
parents have just got divorced, her
sister's about to get married, and I don't
really know what else happens in the
book. It's just a contemporary
and there's probably some romance so I'm
excited to get into it and see how it goes. For my challenge, I have chosen
to read "And I Darkened" by Kirsten White.
This is a retelling of Vlad the Impaler,
where Vlad is actually a girl. So I'm
super excited. She is tough and mean. I am
about sixty pages in, so she is very
unlikable but also she's likable because
you love to hate her if that makes sense.
So if you're like what do I do for this
villainous main character, this might be
a really good option for you. Those
are the books that I plan on reading
during the month of June for these
challenges. Let me know down below if you
will be reading any of these or
participating, and I'll see you guys in
the next video. Bye
