Youtube daily report Jun 25 2018

Do you want to change the font size in your WordPress posts or pages? Well keep

watching. In this video I'll show you three methods you can use to change your

font size in WordPress. Method one is probably the easiest way to do it and

it's by changing the paragraph headings on your posts or pages. To show you what

I mean let's head over to our WordPress dashboard, we'll go to posts, all posts I

want to edit a post that we're working on so we'll do the hello world and from

here you see paragraph. If I want to change any of this I can simply click on

the paragraph and decide which one I want to use like that. Now these sizes

are controlled by your theme's style sheet so just know that if you have a

different theme it might look a little different here but that's a real quick

way to change up the font size like that. Now if you want a little bit more

control over the font sizes and the text formatting then you'll want to install

the TinyMCE Advanced plugin. To do that we'll head over to our plugins area

let's click add new and in the search box we're looking for TinyMCE. This is

the one we want so let's go ahead and install that now and once you install it

you'll need to click activate as well. Now that it's activated we can go in and

set it up. You can either go settings here or if you're ever at your dashboard

and you need to access it you can also go from settings here and you see the

TinyMCE Advanced tab right there. You see up here are the buttons that are

being used and down here are the unused buttons that you can pull up and drag up

for it. By default they've already put the font family and the font size

buttons up here so all we need to do is scroll down and click Save Changes.

Now we can go back to the posts we were working on I'll open up hello world and

from here you can highlight the areas that you want to change, you can pick the

font size that you want, you can also pick the font family from here so that's

a great way to get a little bit more granular control over your fonts on your

website. Now the third method uses a little bit of code and it

simply changes your overall font size of your paragraphs using CSS. So to do that

I'm going to exit out of here, we want to go to our Appearance Customize area. Your

theme may be different but you should have the additional CSS tab right there

where we'll add a little bit of extra CSS to control it so I want to show you

what it looks like so I'm going to click on my hello world we can make changes in

real time to see what it looks like before we save those changes. I'll show

you what I mean. So from here we want to add a bit of code about the paragraph so

we'll type that in, we want to change the font size and you can play with the font

size here. You see as soon as I make those changes,

let me go ahead and finish that off with my semicolon, this is a perfectly fine

piece of code that you can adjust. So here you just want to play with the code

to see what size you want it and it's only changing the paragraph coding and

the beauty of that is once we're happy with the size that we want, once we click

publish it'll be available to the whole site and across the board. So those are

three methods you can use to change the font size in WordPress. Did you learn

something from today's video? If so subscribe to our YouTube channel and

we'll send more helpful tips to help you manage your WordPress website and thanks

10 Lego Tape Ideas - Duration: 9:57.

we're going to give you ideas of what to do with your LEGO tape

you could win some Lego tape. You could win a 4-pack of LEGO tape. We will choose one winner

winner at random. So, you want to get as many entries as you can. To get one entry,

subscribe to our channel and leave us comment on what your favorite LEGO tape idea is.

And, if you share our video you get 5 entries.

Yeah Buddy! Make sure you enter by July 31, 2018.

Idea # 1 is: You can just play with this stuff

it's like a loop and one of their rides. check out my rollercoaster

Another idea is... to decorate your light plate.

if you want to make this permanent, make sure you don't cover up the screw holes and use heavy-duty glue.

This is my light switch plate. I left around for where the screws are and where the

switch is.

make sure you ask an adult because sticking your fingers in there could cause serious injury or death!

My light switch is themed Tiki Room

By the way, if you like winning free LEGO then you should go to our

writing contest for kids check out our youtube channel or Fun with Jay and Harm for details.

Another idea is you can you can make travel containers for playing with

LEGOs in the car blah blah blah okay you are scary this is temporary

tape (sadly) so if you wanted to stick for a while then you should use extra adhesive.

I made a volcano oh Harmony that's a great idea. Why didn't I think of that?

You can make hair bands using the Lego tape. Me and my sister did for at Legoland.

Everyone was so impressed. They wanted to know "where could they get theirs?"

and they wanted to know "where they at a store?" No, they were not at a store. We made them.

you should pull off the right back so it stays on there better. Instead use a

permanent tape.

And the last thing is... you have to decorate. Well, you can decorate.

hey Jaden come here.

That reminds me of when we went to Legoland and had those headbands.

Say, why don't we decorate this picture frame. That's the next idea.

So look, at the bottom I have a question mark because I have no idea what I want to be when I grow up.

and then for yours I have what you said you wanted to be when you grow up. a lot tape can also be used

Block tape can also be used for making your other toys work with LEGO. Here you can see that we've added

minifigs to our remote-control helicopter and truck

Another idea is you can make a hotel for your LEGO characters. We're going to put our

Booster Brick characters in here.

What is Booster Bricks you ask? It's an awesome

club that sends us a box every month with different characters in them.

This is our LEGO hotel. So this is pirate Bob eyeball's room it has pictures in it. Uh oh, look at the time.

it's almost time, LEGO time, for the grand opening

let's sit stay here and watch

you can use LEGO tape in stop motion animations like this one.

it's gonna help to make waves if we have two, two by's and put them on

each side of the LEGO tape and then one one by and you click it like this. That way this end won't move in your animation

now you can do this and create waves.

"A storm came which tore my ship in two and threw me into the sea"

Look at how Booster Bricks uses block tape to decorate their office computers with minifigs.

I'm doing something something called "the minifig of minifigs!"

I call this the "minifig of minifigs" because it's a giant LEGO tape minifigure with all

sorts of other minifigs.

This shelf in my room. This is the perfect layer for it. "Walk, up the wall"

How I Edit My Videos - Duration: 9:39.

what up everyone?its your girl Shriya

and today I am super excited for this week's video because it is a how I edit my videos video

I have been wanting to do this for a long time and honestly, I have so much fun making these videos

I just love editing them. So yeah

Yeah

Yeah, I think this intro is gonna be short. whatever, so if you are a new viewer, then HIII my name is Shriya and

You should totally subscribe you if you didn't and let's try and get this video to 25 likes

click the bell icon floating around and follow me on my social media

come on do that , and

Yeah

Just before we get into the video

I want to let you know that this video is a collaboration with one of my good YouTube friends, which is Crafting Shrafting

aka Hussi I really hope i pronounced your name right if I didn't then I'm so sorry. I like really bad at pronouncing names

So yeah, make sure you check out her channel and your video the links will be in the description box down below

And yeah now let's go

Okay people so now I'm gonna show you on how I edit my videos and basically I edit my videos in kinemaster

So I don't use any other app for that and yeah

So first you can go ahead and add some media like your intro and outro and then your content and everything else

So yeah, just check out what I'm doing

next what you can do is you can add transitions there are different sorts of transitions that you can have

You can buy some of them. There's a store icon near that so you can just check it out. It'll be over there

I'll just put in, you know, a circle to that. So you can check it out. And yeah, wait those stuff are completely free

Transitions and texts are free. Only some sorts of transitions are free like the soft thingy or something

I forgot what it is lol. So you can just check it out

Okay, people next up you can add music and sound effects and you can just buy some music and sound effects from the store thingy

That I showed you before and yeah

Next up what you can do is you can add voiceovers

It's kind of weird on doing a voiceover on how to do a voiceover. So, yeah

Next up you can just add chroma key and chroma key doesn't work only for green screens

It can work for any color, which is totally great. I

Appreciate the person who made this a lot a lot

Next what you can do is you can add effects like blur

Mosaic or swirl and I got the swirl effect from the store so you can just check it out

It's for free, which is amazing and there are other options that you can do here. So cool. I love this

Next what you can do is you can add overlays so you have some classic stickers that are already downloaded

But you can go ahead and get some more in the store section

But I didn't get any because I don't use stickers too much and yeah

Next is the text part so text is the most important thing

Probably in a video for me so you can add a bunch of text you can add them add

Animations to that you can add shadow, glow

Outline and so much more cool stuff and you can download different fonts from the store section. I

Already got a few fonts that were downloaded. And yeah, so you can download more like lobster, sacramonto

I don't even know if I spelled that right. So other fonts that you can get from the store

Next one is handwriting, which I don't even use at all and excuse my ugly drawing. Yes

Next what you can do is you can increase the volume change and

Add an voice filter or whatever and I swear I put in so much

Effort into the video and nothing just turned out right

so this is a huge editing story that I'll put on why it turned out really bad in the

Description so go check it out

And

You can add layers on top of the same video

So I showed you that on chroma key, but I didn't tell you that you can add layers on top of the video

So here is a VIDEO of me doing that. So just check it out

Next is speed control. You can increase the speed to ten times I guess

I don't know I did I never tried speed control

Next up is clip

Graphics, I don't use this at all. So

Yeah, I don't use this. Okay. Okay, whatever

Next is color filter and color adjustment. I don't use color filter either and color adjustment

Sometimes I try and do the color adjustment and then I'm like no

This doesn't look right and I just put it back to zero, but you can totally do the color adjustment if you want to

Next up is rotation or mirroring. I don't use this

So yeah, it's a simple thing and I showed you color filter. I showed you color adjustment and

The only thing left is vignette and no one even uses vignette these days. So yeah, that's up

So that wraps up the main thing of the video and here's my export details so check it out

Hey you I hope you enjoyed the video

If you did make sure you give it a like and subscribe if you're new or if you're from Hussi's channel then definitely do that

Yeah, I should do this one in my intro, but I didn't do it. So I'm doing it now

Okay, so make sure you check out Hussi's channel

The link will be in description box and check out her video too, link in description box

Or you can just check it out over there. I think it'll be over there.

Oh Wait, it's definitely not there it's there

I'm sorry, like, you know filming issues?

Okay, so coming up to today shout out question

let me know when you start back to school because I

need to make back to school videos at the right time because

Some of you are from different states and some of you are from India, so I'm gonna be starting to school on June 1st

So that is super early. I know that and

Yeah, I hope you enjoy this video, and I will see you in my next video. Bye

Psychologists Tell Us How To Pass Through 4 Of The Most Dangerous Periods Of Marriage & Not Break Up - Duration: 6:23.

Psychologists Tell Us How To Pass Through 4 Of The Most Dangerous Periods Of Marriage

And Not Break Up

Marriage is a beautiful and fulfilling institution.

But every rose has its thorns, and marriage is no different.

Despite how intense a couple's love, respect, and admiration for each other may be, there

will still inevitably come challenges, moments of doubt, and fights that make them question

their compatibility.

The important thing to realize in such a situation is that you aren't alone.

Such things are inevitable in any marriage, regardless of how strong it may be.

And the good news is that if the spouses work together to tackle their crises, their relationship

could actually ascend to a new level of strength and happiness.

n fact, every marriage has certain phases of evolution, and there are 4 main periods

in a married couple's life that are the most challenging.

Let's take a look at them: 1.

Year 1 Of Marriage: The Stage Of Realization Breaking up just one year after getting together

is due to what most psychologists refer to as the "realization stage."

This generally occurs at about 6-12 months of cohabitation.

It's basically when the first rush of love starts to fade and you begin to see your significant

other for who s/he really is – their weaknesses, quirks, and flaws (that you cheerfully ignored

earlier).

If you've skipped discussions like children, finances, relative's visits, etc. before

you tied the knot, it's time to do so now.

Talk honestly about your priorities and values.

There's a chance that these may not completely match those of your other half's, and this

is when you need to work together to find a compromise.

It's essential that you both reach a good understanding of the most "burning" questions

you both harbor during this stage of your marriage.

2.

Years 3-4 Of Marriage: The Dangerous "Comfort Zone"

A study involving close to 2,000 couples from the UK showed that when a marriage reaches

the 3 to 3.5-year mark, couples begin to take one another for granted, choose sleep above

lovemaking, and cease to say, "I love you" to one another . This is when the couple reaches

their own little "comfort zone."

Now, reaching a point of comfort to securely be yourself is a wonderful feeling, true.

However, on the other hand, it also leads to certain unpleasant occurrences (such as

peeing with the bathroom door open) becoming an everyday normal of your lives.

And 49% of the couples from the study claimed they wanted their partner to be more "romantic"

towards them.

What must you do?

Retain some emotional intensity in the lives you share!

Praise your spouse's achievements and compliment him or her more often.

It's best to avoid saying just about everything that's on your mind to your other half,

and sometimes simply being silent is a good idea.

If you spot a problem, start your conversation in a non-accusatory, gentle tone.

3.

Years 5-7 Of Marriage: The "Seven-Year Itch" One of the most perilous periods in any marriage,

this is when the couple has created a fine-tuned life together and the partners have begun

to treat each other as though they're living on auto-pilot, which is a grave mistake.

Attraction and sexual interest decrease all thanks to routine, and it feels as though

the partners know everything about one another.

Some couples choose to have their first (or perhaps another) child during this time.

However, it's important to understand that children aren't rescue devices.

What must you do?

• Solve the problems as they come, don't allow them to pile up.

• Keep your communication lines open and ensure that you're sincere and have emotion.

• Assess your behavior and feelings from time to time.

Keep updating your list of wants and the vision you possess for the future.

• Discuss your collective future together.

What plans do you have for the next 5 or 10 years?

Be honest and open with one another, not vague and polite.

4.

Years 10-15 Of Marriage: An Age Of Difficulty According to a recently conducted study, completing

10 years happens to be the most difficult point for any marriage . Out of the 2000 American

married women that were interviewed, a majority claimed that the 11th year of marriage was

the toughest one.

This is because women experience a multitude of responsibilities during this period – they

must take care of their home, their tween children, and a lot of them also work.

Since they're forever pressed for time, the quality of their marital relationship

can decrease.

And husbands can cease to see their wives as attractive women.

In fact, according to research in Europe, the average marriage lasts for roughly 11.5

years . What must you do?

The great news is that if you successfully make it through this period, your marital

satisfaction will continue to increase over the next 20 years!

Experts recommend that you mainly treat your relationship with a sense of humor.

Lower your level of expectations and learn to laugh together more frequently.

Perhaps your marriage isn't ideal, but is it really that awful?

Focus on the positive aspects of your relationship and your partner.

Marriage is no walk in the park.

It's a walk through some of the toughest obstacles that life will throw at you.

And it's possible for you to succeed.

So, learn the art of introspection and working together, and who knows?

Perhaps you'll just be remembered as the couple that created their happy ever after!

Bone Saw is ready!

Will the next victim please enter the arena at this time?

If he can withstand just three minutes in the cage with Bone Saw McGraw...

...the sum of $3000 will be paid to--

-What's your name, kid? -The Human Spider.

That's it? That's the best you got?

-Yeah. -Oh, that sucks.

The sum of $3000 will be paid to... ...the terrifying, the deadly...

...the amazing Spider-Man!

-My name is "The Human Spider." -I don't care, get out there.

-No, he got my name wrong. -Get out there, you moron.

Bone Saw will eat you up and spit you out little man

I hope you brought your mommy with you

-We'll break you! -You'll need someone to cry to.

I'm gonna rip all eight of your feeble legs off one by one.

Oh, my God!

Oh, my legs!

Oh, God. I can't feel my legs.

Kill! Kill! Kill!

Cage!

Hello? Guys?

Will the guards please lock the cage doors at this time?

This is some kind of mistake. I didn't sign up for a cage match!

Unlock the thing! Take the chain off!

Hey, freak show!

You're going nowhere.

I got you for three minutes.

Three minutes of playtime.

-What are you doing up there? -Staying away from you.

That's a cute outfit. Did your husband give it to you?

Finish him off!

Smash him!

-Hit him! -Harder!

Kick his spider ass!

Hit him!

One, two, three!

That's it! That's it! Winner!

Ladies and gentlemen, give it up for the new champion, Spider-Man!

Spider-Man! Spider-Man! Spider-Man!

Now get out of here.

A hundred bucks? The ad said 3000.

Well, check it again, webhead.

It said three grand for three minutes. You pinned him in two.

For that, I give you 100. You're lucky to get that.

I need that money.

I missed the part where that's my problem.

-Hey, what the hell--? -Put the money in the bag.

Hurry up!

Hey! He stole the gate!

Stop that guy!

Stop him! He's got my money!

Thanks.

What's the hell's the matter with you? You let him go!

Cut him off in the lobby and call the cops!

You could've taken that guy apart. Now he'll get away with my money.

I missed the part where that's my problem.

The one factor causing depression and anxiety in the workplace | Johann Hari - Duration: 4:39.

I learned about nine causes of depression and anxiety, for which there's scientific

evidence with different sets of solutions.

But I'll just give you a very quick example of one.

I noticed that lots of people I know who were depressed and anxious.

Their depression and anxiety focuses around their work.

So I started looking at, well, how do people feel about their work?

What's going on here?

Gallup did the most detailed study that's ever been done on this.

What they found is 13 percent of us like our work most of the time.

Sixty-three percent of us are what they called "sleepwalking" through out work.

We don't like it.

We don't hate it.

We tolerate it.

Twenty-four percent of us hate out jobs.

If you think about that 87 percent of people in our culture don't like the thing they're

doing most of the time.

They did send their first work email at 7:48 a.m. and clock off at 7:15 p.m. on average.

Most of us don't want to be doing it.

Could this have a relationship to our mental health?

I started looking for the best evidence, and I discovered an amazing Australian social

scientist called Michael Marmot who I got to know who discovered, the story of how he

discovered it is amazing, but I'll give you the headline.

He discovered the key factor that makes us depressed and anxious at work:

If you go to work and you feel controlled, you feel you have few or limited choices you

are significantly more likely to become depressed or actually even more likely to have a stress-related

heart attack.

And this is because of one of the things that connects so many of the causes of depression

and anxiety I learned about.

Everyone watching this knows that you have natural physical needs, right.

You need food.

You need water.

You need shelter.

You need clean air.

If I took them away from you, you would be in trouble real fast, right.

There's equally strong evidence that we have natural psychological needs.

You've got to feel you belong; You've got to feel your life has meaning and purpose;

You've got to feel that people see you and value you; You've got to feel you've got

a future that makes sense.

And if human beings are deprived of those psychological needs they will experience extreme

forms of distress.

Our culture is good at lots of things.

We're getting less and less good at meeting people's deep underlying psychological needs.

And this is one of the key factors why depression is rising.

And that opens, just to finish the point about what that opens up, a very different way of

thinking about how we solve these problems, right.

So if control at work is one of the drivers of this depression and anxiety epidemic so

I think well what would be an antidepressant for that, right.

What would solve that?

In Baltimore I met a woman called Meredith Keogh as part of an amazing transformation.

Meredith used to go to bed every Sunday night just sick with anxiety.

She had an office job.

It wasn't the worst office job in the world, she wasn't being bullied, but she couldn't

bear the thought that this monotony was going to be the next 40 years of her life, most

of her life.

And one day Meredith did an experiment with her husband Josh.

Josh had worked in bike stores since he was a teenager.

Again, it's insecure, controlled work, as you can imagine.

And one day Josh and his friends in the bike store just asked themselves: what does out

boss actually do?

They liked that boss.

He wasn't a particularly bad guy, but they thought, "Well, we fix all the bikes."

They didn't like this feeling of having a boss.

They decided to do something different.

So Meredith quit her job.

Josh and his friends quit their jobs.

They set up a bike store that works on a different, older principle.

It's a democratic cooperative, not a corporation.

So the way it works is there is no boss.

They take the decisions together democratically by voting.

They share out the good tasks and the bad tasks.

They share the profits.

And one of the things that was so interesting to me going there which is completely in line

with Professor Marmot's findings is how many of them talked about how depressed and

anxious they'd been when they worked in a controlled environment and they weren't

depressed and anxious now.

Now it's important to say: it's not like they quit their jobs fixing bikes and went

to become like Beyoncé's backup singers, right?

They fixed bikes before, they fixed bikes now.

But they dealt with the factor that causes depression and anxiety.

As Josh put it to me, there's no reason why any business should be run in this top

down, depressogenic, humiliating way, right.

The modern corporation is a very recent invention.

Think about how many people you know who feel terrible today if they were going into work

tomorrow to a workplace that they controlled with their colleagues.

If there had to be a boss, they elected the boss and the boss was accountable to them.

Where they chose the priorities for their workplace.

A lot of people would feel very differently.

Now that is an antidepressant, right.

Chemical antidepressants should absolutely remain on the menu.

They give some relief to some people.

That's valuable.

But we need to look for antidepressants that deal with the reasons why we're depressed.

So I was able to identify nine causes of depression and anxiety and seven antidepressants like

this which are actually about dealing with the reasons why we feel this way, and not

just blunting the symptoms.

How to make music and stay healthy - Duration: 3:44.

In my previous video I found myself in a depressive bottomless pit:

I could no longer make tracks or videos,

and every great content I came across just made me eternally depressed that it wasn't

me who made it.

Someone also sent me this wonderful graph which I'll link down below

It basically says that creative process comes and goes in cycles.

And sometimes your ability to evaluate art is better than your actual skill.

And it was true.

I was listening to a lot of great music,

and I could easily understand why it's great,

But I wasn't able to make something equally great.

I've reached a plateau.

But I realized that it was not healthy.

And somehow I got out!

And I've made an EP of 8 tracks in just a few days.

How did I get out of this "masterpiece syndrome"?

First, I stopped comparing myself to others.

After all, who am I comparing myself against and why?

It's not a competition.

Yes, Oneohtrix Point Never makes amazing, complex, texture-rich music.

He pushes the sonic boundaries.

He's a bloody genius.

But he wasn't always like that.

His work wasn't always as pristine and cutting edge as it is right now.

Aphex Twin was probably making music when I wasn't even born yet.

The guy deserved it.

Although for every achiever there is a spontaneous genius like Iglooghost.

Which sort of debunks this theory right now, but…

I don't wanna talk about it

Let's not spoil the fun.

Secondly, I realized that my music is not great.

But it's OK!

I don't want this to discourage me.

Thinking about it, had I decided to postpone setting up a youtube channel until I have

a DSLR camera,

better editing skills or faster computer,

I would never have gotten where I am now.

But somehow I used what I had, and I realized that something is better than nothing.

The same principle applies to making music: do what you can, and don't stop moving.

That doesn't mean you should make objectively awful music that sounds bad,

but making decent tracks is OK!

They don't have to be groundbreaking every time.

My arrangements still leave much to be desired, my mixing is not perfect, I suck at melodies,

but I'm not gonna wait until I have all this sorted out perfectly to make a track.

Making this EP was extremely liberating, it was fun, easy and I just did what I wanted.

Thirdly, don't forget about the Pareto principle.

It basically says that "80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes".

Apply this to making music, and it means that "80% of the track come from 20% of the actions".

To give you an example: I was listening to this track by µ-Ziq

and I thought about making these signature early IDM fast glitchy hi-hats.

I opened FL and made a drum pattern.

And that was it.

That's 80% of the track.

The rest came easily: add some acid, bass, synth and here you go.

Fourthly, don't overcomplicate things.

Sometimes I open up a track and think, oooh, there's so much work to do, it's not done,

I don't know how to approach this.

But I'm too blind to see that it's 99% done,

And you just have to figure out the nuances and transitions!

Like it was with this track.

I said I'd never finish it.

But it turned out there wasn't much work needed, I was overcomplicating.

Sometimes you don't need more samples or more instruments to make a track.

For example I recently made 6 tracks in 6 genres using only an 808 kick sample.

So it's definitely not about resources.

Anyway, I hope these tips will help you if you're having a hard time making music like

I did.

And also don't forget to check out my EP.

It's not groundbreaking but at least I had fun doing it!

I'll link it down below.

Thank you.

Liverpool transfer news: Jurgen Klopp tipped to sign Philippe Coutinho replacement - Duration: 2:08.

The Reds have been busy so far this window, with Klopp signing Monaco midfielder Fabinho and RB Leipzig's Naby Keita

Liverpool almost signed Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir, however, the Reds pulled out of the £53m deal due to doubts over an old knee injury

Klopp is yet to buy another attacker to replace Philippe Coutinho, who quit Anfield in January to head to Barcelona

And Liverpool Echo journalist James Pearce says a deal for Fekir is unlikely, however, Klopp will sign an attacking midfielder this summer

When asked in a Q&A whether Klopp will go back in for Fekir or look at alternatives, Pearce said: "Liverpool insist they have moved on from Fekir but sources close to the player still believe a deal could be revived

His heart was set on Anfield and Lyon are clearly still keen to cash in. "Having decided that £53million was too big a risk due to concerns over an old knee injury, I'd be surprised if Liverpool went back in for him

"I still expect Klopp to sign a Coutinho replacement in this window but as we've seen with the left-back and the centre-back situations in recent years, if he can't get exactly what he wants he's prepared to wait

"  Klopp is keen to spend big this summer to mount a Premier League title charge next season

The Reds finished a staggering 25 points behind champions Manchester City this year

Children's Author Talks to Kids - Duration: 2:04.

[Author] It was early in the morning but Sammy couldn't wait to get to work. [Reporter] The Adventures of

Sammy the Wonder Dachshund come to life as lowcountry author illustrator

Jonathan D Miller shares his books with students at River Ridge Academy.

Throughout the year Miller travels of southeast visiting about eight schools a

week talking about writing the books inspired by his friends dog. [Jonathan Miller] The real dog

Sammy in real life has come funny and quirky dogs that kind of made sense

there but also dachshunds are super popular dogs and you know there's a lot

of dachshund owners out there and they really love their dachshunds so thought

having the character as a dachshund would be another market of people that would love the books too.

[Reporter] Miller also discuss' the unique art form he uses to illustrate his books his technique is a form of

collage using pieces of construction paper. Some detailed pages of his books

takes him more than 100 hours to complete. [Jonathan] So one of the major reasons it takes so long to do the art

I gotta draw out all in one time and I spend a long time on that. Then I have to trace all my shapes cut all the shapes out then go back and outline and give details.

[Reporter] Miller's advice to aspiring authors find a way for your books to be unique. [Jonathan] Try to think of

three ways to make your book different than a lot of books out there and art

is a huge way my books are different the fact they're about a dachshund is a

way they're different and they have an internet theme you know the teachers

could talk to their students about you know not everything they're gonna find

on the internet it's true so they need to get a filter of the Internet. [Reporter] The

authors visit was part of River Ridge Academy's extended year's summer reading

program. [Amber Blakes] I feel like it's a great way to make literacy real for students a lot of

times they don't see the connection to real life how it could turn into a

career how it could make money and I feel like this was a really great way to

help them connect real life to the literacy they do every day.

[Reporter] The Charleston author has published four books about Sammy and a fifth is

currently being printed. At River Ridge Academy, Ron Lopes Beaufort County School

District. [Jonathan] Sammy realizes some of our dreams may be as big as the stars with enough hard

work time and dedication anything can be possible.
