Hi, I'm Magda from Ami Little Creature.
Recently I showed you how to make heart-shaped wire frame for owls.
In part 2 we'll crochet animals
We have two owls in love.
It is a wedding gift.
I hope you like the video.
Have a nice watching & crocheting!
I present you almost done Mr. Owl.
In a moment I will show you how to crochet Mrs. Owl.
Materials I used for Mr. Owl: brown yarn for body and beige for dots.
For Mrs Owl I will use reverse colors: beige body and brown dots
Mr. Owl: white (eyes), grey (glasses)
Mrs. Owl: white (eyes), dark pink (glasses)
Beak is yellow.
Legs are dark beige.
I use YarnArts Jeans and crochet hook 2 mm.
We need also tapestry needle, scissors, stuffing.
I use safety eyes 6 mm, orange color
Rnd 1: beige yarn, start with 7 sc in a magic ring [7]
Rnd 2: 7 inc [14]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 7 [21]
Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 7 [28]
Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 7 [35]
Rnd 6-7: 35 sc [35]
I'm at the end of 7th rnd.
In rnd 8 we will change yarn color to add brown dots.
Rnd 8: (1 sc beige, 1 sc brown) x 5, 25 sc beige [35]
I have three brown dots, I need 2 more...
and 25 sc (beige) till the end of the round.
I cut brown yarn
Rnd 9: 35 sc [35]
We meet at the end of rnd 9
I'm in the last st of rnd 9.
I don't finish the last st because I need to change yarn to brown (brown dot is in the 1st st of rnd 10)
Rnd 10: (1 sc brown, 1 sc beige) x 6, 23 sc beige [35]
We have 6 brown dots.
And work 23 sc (beige) till the end of the round
Cut brown yarn.
I finished rnd 10.
Rnd 11-15: beige 35 sc [35]
Rnd 16: (3 sc, dec) x 7 [28]
Rnd 17: (2 sc, dec) x 7 [21]
Rnd 18: 21 sc [21]
Rnd 19: (2 sc, inc) x 7 [28]
Rnd 20: (3 sc, inc) x 7 [35]
I finished rnd 20.
I have to put safety eyes before I close the opening.
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
I crocheted the 1st eye and now I show you how I did it.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (or work simple ch2 and insert the hook in 2nd st) [6]
I put the safety eyes in the centre
so the centre point doesn't have to be so tight.
Rnd 2: 6 inc [12]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]
I'm at the end of rnd 3 - fasten off, leaving a tail and make invisible seam (or sl st as you wish)
Secure the yarn at the back.
In rnd 4 we crochet glasses.
Rnd 4: dark pink, start with ch 2 (= 1 sc) so the pattern is: (2 sc, inc) x 6 [24]
Cut the yarn leaving a tail to join both eyes.
Firstly I make invisible seam
and then sew both pieces using tapestry needle (insert the needle under both loops).
I think joining - regarding 3 st of every piece - is sufficient
In a moment I'll put safety eyes but first secure the yarn.
Cut unnecessary yarns (then weave in to owl's body).
I put safety eyes between rnd 15-16 of head.
Betwen both outside dots.
After I attach teh backs I burn the ends using hot little spoon to secure the eyes.
As you can see, the eyes are put
I flattened the ends using hot little spoon.
I was holding the spoon over the burner to make it really hot.
Now hide the yarn ends and stuff the owl's body.
I make tassels before I close the opening.
To make tassels I wrap the yarn around 5 times on three fingers.
The beginning of yarn is at the bottom
and cut pieces of yarn at the bottom
Then bind in half these pieces of yarn using other piece of yarn.
I put this centre knot into the head corner.
Close the opening with tapestry needle.
Insert the tassel
Sew the corner to attach the tassels - you can also sew tightly through the knot.
Sew the opposite parts.
Tassels are attached strongly.
Sew the parts but remember to leave an opening to put 2nd tassel. And stuff more if it's needed.
I put the 2nd tassel and have to secure it.
I secured the tassels, divided yarn into single threads and do haircut.
I also sewed the eyes with white yarn inside the circle
Now we crochet beak.
Insert the hook, ch 2, dc2 tog
Fasten off, cut the yarn
Shape the beak, weave in yarn ends.
Insert the needle 1 sc below the beak
You can also embroider the beak if you want.
Finishing the beak...
The beak is done.
Now crochet owl's legs.
The first leg is done.
Start with ch 7,
insert the hook in 2nd st and work:
2 sc, sl st (1st claw)
ch 3, 2 sc, sl st (2nd claw)
ch 3, 2 sc, sl st (3rd claw)
In the last 3 stitches work 3 sc (1 sc in each stitch)
Fasten off, leaving a tail for sewing.
Move the yarns to the centre of leg because we will sew the leg to the branch later.
You can pin the legs to make sure you sew them properly.
Count 2 rounds from the centre and sew the legs regarding this space.
Don't cut the end of yarn - we need it to sew the owl to the branch.
Now crochet owl's wings.
Mr. Owl has the wings already.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring [6]
Rnd 2: 6 inc [12]
Rnd 3: (1 sc, inc) x 6 [18]
Rnd 4: (1 sc, dc inc, sl st) x 3.
Repeat
(1 sc, dc inc, sl st)
And the last time
(1 sc, dc inc, sl st)
Cut the yarn leaving a long tail
Now we sew the wing to the body.
Secure the yarn from the inside
It is left side.
Go to the centre upper part
Bent in half
and mark centre upper point
Sew the upper part of each wing.
I sew the wing in the round where top of the beak is attached.
Sew the wing along the flank
Sew only upper part of the wing.
Owls in love are finished.
Mrs. Owl and Mr. Owl
Mrs. has the flower and Mr. has hat and bow tie
I put the pattern for these accessories on my blog.
What I crocheted is the branch
and two leaves - smaller and bigger.
Pattern for branch and leaves also will be available on my blog
As for branch - you can see that it has specific shape
Then I added smaller branch on the side.
Now I sew the branch to the heart in two peripheral points.
Branch is put on the heart, yarns should not be visible from the back.
As you can see, owls are finished, branch is sewed to the heart and owls to the branch
I added cord to hang the heart e.g. on the wall.
I also attached the owls to the heart using single thread to keep them straight in vertical position
LOVE :-)
