Youtube daily report Jun 21 2017

Goodday everyone!

For certain, we all know of someone who has suffered from cancer.

It's among the leading causes of death worldwide, with skin cancer being one of the most common

at more than 3 million cases reported globally each year.

[SCIQ INTRO]

Let's put that in perspective:

Here in the states in 2010, 74,000 Americans were diagnosed with cancer of the skin.

That same year, the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare released a study revealing

that we Aussies have the highest rate of melanoma, and one of the highest overall rates of cancer

– in the WORLD.

At the time, more than 100,000 cases of skin cancer were reported in the country.

74,000 in the giant United States with its huge populations but 100,000 in tiny Australia

Fast forward to today: According to the Cancer Council of Australia, 134,000 Australians

are gonna be diagnosed with skin cancer by the end of this year, and 150,000 by 2020.

That's more than DOUBLE the rate of the U.S., who in 2017 is expected to have only

about 87,000 cases.

Numbers for BOTH countries have gone up, but why are we Aussies getting skin cancer at

a higher rate than anyone else?

Is it because we love the sun, live by the beach, and are always down to play rugby and

AFL footy and a game of netty (whispers: netball)?

So basically, our addiction to sports why we get cancer?

Or is it that we came from English and European stock, and our fair skin is not made for the

harsh Australian climate?

Well, the answer is no, and not really – and actually the answer is much more terrifying!

See - right now, there is a massive freaking hole in the earth's ozone layer.

You know the hole that lets the harmful UV rays in from the sun?

ya, that one.

And where is that hole located?

Right over Antarctica.

Cold, right?

Well, hot, rather… because that massive gaping hole in the ozone layer creates an

increased exposure to the effects of the sun's UV radiation, and as we know... overexposure

to the sun is a contributing factor to skin cancer in particular.

The harmful effects of those rays are so strong that even in Australia, 7,246 km or 4,502

miles away, we are affected by the hole in the ozone layer.

Now, this doesn't mean that scientists have discovered in their research that everyone

in Australia has now, all of a sudden, developed cancer – or will in the future.

Chlorofluorocarbons , or CFCs, which used to be found in aerosol spray cans—were released

into the atmosphere until they were banned in 1996.

However, even decades later these gases, through several chemical reactions, have caused the

ozone's molecules to break down, reducing its capacity to absorb UV rays.

It took us a while to catch onto the fact that the products we were using were destroying

the ozone.

And it took us an equally long time--decades worth of emitting chlorofluorocarbons into

the atmosphere--before we got ourselves together and banned them.

But, good news Last year, more than 30 years after scientists

first spotted the hole in the atmosphere's protective ozone, measurements taken last

year showed that the ozone hole has shrunk by more than 1.5 million square miles--that's

about half of the continental United States.

So that means the hole in the ozone layer is healing and thats all happned since the

year 2000.

So things are getting better.

But even though thats good news, I now have some bad news.

There are still people not only in Australia, but all over the world, who are suffering

as a result of what I like to call "Human Caused Climate Instability," or what we

currently know as "Climate Change."

Check out the link to my other video on climate change here

That's completely Insane, right?

If we can get together and ban CFC's so that countries don't have to suffer we can do the

same for climate change

So… what do you think we should do now that we've banned CFCs and the hole in the ozone

is slowly receding?

Do you think that the ability to get together the global community will help us in the future?

Is there anything more that we can do to stop those poor Aussies from getting struck down

with skin cancer?

Government Workers Unions Control Politics | Dr. Steven J. Allen - Duration: 2:16.

Imagine if you could go into your boss's office and tell him unless you get a raise,

HE'S fired.

It sounds ridiculous, but that's exactly how government workers unions operate.

Unions are not necessarily bad; private-sector unions, when not given special privileges

by government, can help fairly negotiate to get their members the wages they deserve.

But once a union is able to run its own shop, and when they do so at taxpayers' expense,

it hurts everyone else for their benefit alone.

Here's how it works: government workers unions exert massive political influence.

They're a powerful and populous special-interest group with a high degree of voter participation,

making them a valuable ally for politicians.

They use their member's dues on political contributions, phone banks, door to door campaigns,

and many other ways to support favored candidates.

Once the candidate gets elected, they can raise union member's compensation; a reward

for their support.

That means more dues paid, which means even more political spending, forming a positive

feedback loop further entrenching union control.

Exacerbating the situation, while private-sector unions have a limit on what they can negotiate

for based on company profits, dictated by consumer demand for their product, government

workers unions have no such limit.

Government can just choose to tax more to give them more.

In fact, government workers unions have fought extensively to see that happen, lobbing and

protesting in support of raising taxes; the opposite of what private-sector employees

like to see happen with their paycheck.

It's not easy to break that positive feedback loop.

In Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker sought to weaken collective bargaining powers for

government workers unions, opponents of Walker's policies managed to force a recall election

which Walker only narrowly survived, winning with 53.1% of the vote.

If we want to see government budgets come under control and special interests unable

to take advantage of taxpayer's money, that means reining in government workers unions.

To see the damage government workers unions can cause, watch our video on "The Sins

of Teachers Unions."

The Sins of Teachers Unions | Dr. Steven J. Allen - Duration: 2:38.

Teachers are important.

A good teacher can change a life for the better.

But a bad one can do serious harm.

Unfortunately, teachers unions have the same agenda all government workers unions have

– protecting their members at the cost of their employer, not some big "evil" corporation,

but rather you the taxpayer.

Teachers unions have pushed for tenure for their members.

While one out of 57 doctors loses his or her license to practice medicine, and one out

of 97 lawyers loses his or his license to practice law, in many major cities only one

out of 1,000 teachers is fired for performance-related offenses.

One New Jersey union representative was blunt: "I've gone in and defended teachers who

shouldn't even be pumping gas."

The difficulty of firing teachers led to the creation of "rubber rooms," the nickname

for reassignment centers where until 2010, the New York City Department of education

at any given time had an average of 700 teachers accused of misconduct who would sit and do

nothing, some for years, because the local union had made them so difficult to fire.

Another common problem with teachers union contracts is a "bumping" policy that fills

schools which are more needy with greater numbers of inexperienced teachers.

Children in the highest-poverty schools are assigned to novice teachers almost twice as

often as children in wealthier schools.

And teachers unions have repeatedly opposed charter schools and voucher systems that allow

parents to choose where to send their children to school, locking students in schools with

the bad teachers whose jobs the unions protect.

Look at what happened in Seattle.

School administrators in Seattle received at least 30 warnings that a fifth grade teacher

was a danger to his students.

Thanks to a union contract that forces schools to destroy most personnel records after each

school year, he managed to evade punishment for nearly 20 years, until he was finally

sent to prison in 2005 for having molested as many as 13 girls.

The lawyer for a victim said, "You could basically have a pedophile in your midst and

not know it."

The National Education Association and The American Federation of Teachers aren't just

fighting for good teachers, they're fighting for all their members, and that hurts kids

To understand how teachers unions got all this power, watch our video on how "Government

Workers Unions Control Politics."

*NEW* Game of Thrones Season 7 Trailer 2 Breakdown - Duration: 13:28.

Whats going on guys, Carmine here and today we'll be taking a look at the brand new Game

of Thrones Trailer from HBO.

This is the second trailer for season 7 and we got a couple of new footage from it.

Some of the scenes I'll be skipping because they were re-used from the first trailer.

We'll also be discussing the second trailer on the next episode of the Game of Thrones

Podcast which will be Aftershow episode 3 so look forward to that.

Also leave your comments and questions below for a follow up Q&A video to the second trailer.

Lets get to it.

The first scene we get in the trailer is of Sansa, still in Winterfell with the weirwood

behind here while Petyr Baelish tells her not to fight in the north or the south but

to fight every battle, everywhere.

I like that, even now, Baelish is still counseling Sansa.

There have been rumors that he doesn't survive past this season which is a shame, if true,

because he has always been the guide that Sansa has needed in her life to get her through

things.

But I do like that even in season 7 he'll be scheming and trying to control things.

Sansa on the other hand is who I'll be focusing on because, when everything is said and done,

I feel like she'll be the very last Stark.

Jon, Bran and Arya are all going to be participating in the final battle with Sansa, once again,

on the sidelines which is fine.

Even if they all go down she'll be the last stark left, which would be disappointing but

deserved.

Sansa has never really been at the forefront of House Stark and after everything shes been

through and learned, it'll be good to see her with some power, kicking ass and taking

names.

Next up we have a scene beyond the wall, it looks like Bran and Meera are entering Castle

Black.

You can tell its them because she has to keep dragging him on that sled.

Now Meera has been an interesting character for me and there have been rumors that once

she leaves Bran off at Winterfell, that we won't see her til season 8 which is fine but

I was hoping for a kind of Bran and Meera relationship thing going on but I understand

why its not.

Bran is still suppose to be like...12 or 13.

Keep in mind that its only been 3 years since season 1 so he is suppose to be a little kid

but puberty hit this guy look a ton of bricks.

I swear, last season, I saw some chest hair and a mustache.

But I will miss Meera, even though she doesn't do too much and isn't as beloved as Hodor

but she does add something to Bran's group but once again, I get why she has to go.

Bran is going back to Winterfell and all the Starks are converging yet again so Bran doesn't

really need his own group.

Hopefully she does show back up next season with some soldiers from House Reed to back

up everybody else.

Next up we get a quick shot of King's Landing and it looks like they're fully embracing

the Lannisters with some banners all over the city.

Some of us already know who it is the gold cloaks are escorting through the city but

for those of you who don't then I won't say it here.

After that we cut back to Dany over at Dragonstone.

In the first trailer I thought that she was using Stannis' war room table as her own but

it looks like when Stannis left Dragonstone he left behind a lot of his own things, including

the little map markers and even his own banner which she takes down.

I will say I'm still mad that Dany doesn't have her own red priestess,

which we saw last season in the form of Kinvara.

If you recall, Kinvara is the one who spoke to Tyrion in Mereen and spooked Varys a little

in their first meeting.

I really wanted Dany to have her own red priestess like Stannis and not be swayed so easily like

he was.

I want that as a contrast between those two.

Like....for 5 seasons Stannis has been persuaded to accept the Lord of Light's ways and we've

seen that and then we get Dany and she is having none of that crap.

It would've been nice and who knows maybe we'll get it because in the last trailer we

saw Melisandre back on Dragonstone for some reason.

We also get some nice shots of the dragons flying towards dragonstone and Greyworm heading

towards some cave.

Now this could be the same cave that Melisandre and Davos used to have Renly killed.

If that is the case then maybe I'll get my wish after all and Dany will be taking Storm's

End.

As a Baratheon fan I'm excited for this because we'll finally see what Storm's End looks like

and you guys know me, I'm a sucker for awesome locations and cool buildings.

But if this turned out to be Casterly Rock, the Lannister main castle, I'd be just as

happy.

Tyrion was in charge of the sewers at Casterly Rock when he and his father still lived there

so its possible that he knows some secret entrance way into the castle.

So this could also be Castely Rock that the Unsullied are sneaking into.

Who knows, either way I'm excited.

Then we get another shot of Podrick and Captain Phasma.

I wasn't a big fan of Brienne for the past two seasons, mainly because she has been kinda

sidelined a bit but that's to be expected.

She's in Star Wars now and she is very busy....you know....being in Star Wars for less than 3

minutes.

Reeaaal busy.

Seriously though Brienne hasn't done anything cool since the beginning of season 5 when

she beat up those Knights of the Vale.

Hopefully she, and Podrick, will be doing more but I that is highly unlikely.

Brienne's goal is to be Sansa's protector and errand girl.

I doubt we'll be seeing Brienne do much other than interacting with Tormund and Arya.

I do hope we get a Hound reunion though.

That'd be cool.

You know between Brienne, Arya and the Hound.

That'd be sweet.

And speaking of the Hound, if you blink you'll miss it.

He appears VERY briefly in the trailer twice.

Once in the snow and once in a sunny location not wearing a coat.

Its possible that this is during a King's Landing scene because we do see a Lannister

soldier in the background in a ruins.

So....possibly the dragon pit in King's Landing which use to be a thing back during Targaryen

rule but is now in ruins of course.

But wait a minute...if the Hound is in King's Landing....does that mean we'll finally be

getting Cleganebowl?

ooooh shiiiit.

Get hyped.

No seriously that would be great.

Both of them died and are now born again in different ways.

I love it.

I would really love cleganebowl but if I know these cockteasing showrunners, and I think

I do, they'll probably just give us a small hint of it and not deliver.

Those Bastards.

But we'll have to see.

Next up we have some cool shots of the Lannisters soldiers going up against the dothraki.

We may not get the unsullied going into phalanx formation but the these guys will and it'll

be interesting to see how the dothraki fare against trained soldiers in formation with

armor and spears.

The main thing the dothraki have going for them, much like the ironborn is that they're

good in hit and run raids.

In the field it'd be interesting because there are so many of them and they all have horses

so its a bit of a toss up.

They're more into overwhelming their foes with numbers and fast attacks but one on one?

against a seasoned knight? they wouldn't be able to do much.

Remember what happened when Jorah fought against one of Khal Drogo's men back in season 1?

Jorah wasn't fast but his defense was good enough to deliver a killing blow.

It'll be interesting but what really gives them an edge is the dragon.

That always turns the tide of any battle.

I mean...if you've played Total War: Warhammer like I have...then you'll know that a dragon

means the difference between winning comfortably to what the fuck just happened.

So...yeah.

I also love the shot we get of Jaime charging in there and it looks like he almost got roasted

by a dragon and wants to go in there and take it down.

If anything hes got balls...which may or may not be made of gold but w/e.

Next up we have some shots of many ravens or crows, w/e you want, flying over the Night's

King, possibly Bran controlling them to scout out the scope of his army and where they are.

I like this because it gives Bran a lot of importance, not just as a character but as

a war potential.

And when I say war potential I mean people who're essential to winning the final battle.

This includes people who're intelligent, like Sam and Tyrion and people who carry Valyrian

Steel swords like Brienne and Jon.

Bran now possess some amount of skill to do more than just show us some cool flashbacks.

I love this and I also love how he has a wheelchair now.

All he needs to do is shave off his hair and we'll have the Game of Thrones version of

Professor X. Nice....very nice.

And this would be fitting because Sansa is obviously Jean Grey and Tormund can be beast

while Brienne can be Colossus.

Holy shit....I think we have almost all the X-Men now.

Somebody photoshop them all together and make this happen.

Also there is one more person with Bran...it could be Davos, it could be some random maester

or it could be the three eyed raven.

He is suppose to be dead but maybe he left a bit of his mind inside Bran's mind?

And maybe Bran is seeing him whenever he touches a weirwood tree? it'd be interesting to have

that and kinda cool.

I always enjoyed their discussions so it'd be nice to have more of that

Next up we have some more shots of the ironborn fleet heading towards King's Landing and of

Euron doing some work.

I always respect a leader who goes in there and does the fighting along with the troops.

Damn straight Euron, make the Iron Islands great again buddy.

We also get the last confirmation that it is Euron who is attacking Yara's fleet.

Now I can't tell who this is, running out there and jumping with a bow in hand but its

possibly Yara fighting back though I doubt she gets away considering in the last trailer

she and Ellaria are somehow together going all lesbian on each other.

So its possible that she does get captured but I hope she doesn't go out like a punk.

I do like Yara's character and its a shame we don't see more of her but hopefully this

season will give her more to do.

I'm also happy that the Ironborn aren't taking a backseat this season and will be in there

with the bulk of the fighting.

This is good, now if only the Dornish and the Tyrell soldiers got in on this then I'd

be incredibly happy with season 7.

And finally we get Jon Snow, Davos and even Beric Dondarion beyond the wall for some reason,

there have been rumors that they are going beyond the wall to find proof of the white

walker threat and bring it back to everyone so they can all unite.

now...this is a large plot hole because this has been done before.

When the wights attacked Jeor Mormont back in season 1, Jon killed it and, correct me

if I'm wrong, Alliser Thorne was sent to King's Landing to show Joffrey the hand of the wight

that attacked him.

This was in season 1 episode 9.

It's why we don't see Thorne until season 4.

I don't know if it is ever explained why Thorne never made it to King's Landing or if he did

and got sent away but this has happened before.

Hopefully it gets cleared up.

In the books this is actually cleared up but we'll go into that later on in the Game of

Thrones Podcast.

But I am really enjoying the preview we're getting from their beyond the wall trip.

The Fellowship of Winter is what I'm calling them #fellowshipofwinter We got the Hound,

Beric, Davos, Jon Snow, and possibly Thoros of Myr.

Now all we need is a wise cracking dwarf, a wise cracking sellsword and a man with no

cock and we have the Game of Thrones version of the Avengers.

No seriously though this trailer has got me excited.

Beric is taking out his flaming sword which does make him a war potential and we'll be

getting ANOTHER White Walker fight and a Dawn of the Dead type scene where the frost zombies

are all running towards our small group.

One thing we never do see is horror in our fantasy and I like that Game of Thrones dances

around that.

Its a nice touch of pace from all the boobs and dragons to get what we got last season

when the Night's King invades the 3 eyed raven sanctuary.

I like it and its always good to sprinkle some different genres in this show to give

us a bit more of everything.

But overall the trailer was fantastic.

There was no signs of Sam or any new characters we might be getting but you do get a sense

of that...we're almost at the end.

I like it.

I left some things out so we can discuss them later on the podcast which will be out sometime

next week so look forward to that.

But guys let me know what you thought about the trailer? did it show too much? did it

show too little? because these kinds of things can happen in a trailer.

I mean...look at Terminator Genesis.

The entire plot of the movie was spoiled in their trailers so it kinda fell flat.

Did HBO commit this sin just now? or was it just right?

But Leave your thoughts and questions below and I'll be discussing them in a follow up
