Hi, folks. Steve here, with the awesome game that is Beam.NG Drive.
What is Beam.NG Drive, you may ask?
Well, for those of you folks not familiar with it, basically, it's kind of a driving simulator game.....and one with some fairly good physics, too.
In this video, I'll just go over the basics of some of the things that you can do in this game.
There are quite a few maps-and vehicles to choose from, and that's not including the many cool mods made for this game.....
But for this video, we'll just stick with the classic Gridmap, and the standard pickup truck.
BTW, apologies in advance, but, just FYI, my current computer is a bit lacking in the graphics department, so the video may be a bit choppy at times, and my keyboard also have had occasional input delay issues with this game as well. (But hopefully it won't stop you from enjoying the video!)
Okay, so here we are, with our trusty Gavril D-Series pickup. Let's get this show on the road.
Anyway, there are *lots* of things you can do on Gridmap.....
Like this suspension test for instance.
Or these jumps; if you like doing stunts, you'll have plenty of opprotunities to catch some airtime on this map(and many others, too!).
See? Just like that. =)
Over here, there's an area where you can test how your car handles various types of terrain; we'll take a look at this later.
Right now, though, let's take our first opprotunity at a crash, shall we? =)
Yep, still drivable.
I'm going to see if I can find another hill to jump off of.
Yes, there is. Let's go for it!
Looks like this truck'll be doing around ~85 miles an hour, so that'll be interesting to watch.
Ouch! That was a hard landing. Can this truck still drive?
Amazingly, yes, it can!
BTW, there's also an area here were you can test a vehicle's offroading capabilities. Let's try it out!
Getting a little bumpy here.....
Whoops! Sounds like I just popped a tire there.
Hmm.....I see an opprotunity for another crash. Let's go!
Uh oh. It seems I've landed on my roof.
No problem, though, as I can just lift this truck.....
Like this.....
And flip it back up again.
And wow, this thing still drives!
Uh oh. Truck's overheating a bit; must be all the damage it's been taking.
Here's a place with lots of mud; great if you're into offroading!
Anyway, back to where we started, let's try the suspension test again, shall we? =)
Oh boy. We just broke a wheel axle-not a good sign.
Yeah, this thing barely drives anymore.
Correction: not even barely.
Okay, let's just reset the truck.
There we go! Good as new! =)
Hey, see that loop-de-loop over there? Let's see how far we can go up it.
Well, okay, not that far.
And the engine's now totally busted.
Let's try to get this truck flipped upright again.
Whoops! Not quite.
There we go. Much better. =)
And reset.....
And we're back in action. =)
Anyway, let's find something else to do.
Let's check out some of the ramps over here.
Let's get that one over there.
Let's see if this truck still drives.
Yup! Despite a partially broken driveshaft, it still puts power to the ground. This is one tough truck! =)
Here's a block we can ram into.
This truck is pretty much busted, so let's just reset it again.
Let's try the loop again.
Nope, still couldn't make it. Definitely needed a higher speed than 60 mph.
But despite that rough landing, this truck is still going.
I'll just drive around for a bit.
Hey, I've got an idea! Let's see what crashing into that structure that looks like the BeamNG logo does. =)
Okay, let's try the loop again, but this time starting a little farther back.
That should do it, I think. Here we go!
Whoops.
Anyway, let's leave the loop alone for now. I have something new to show you.
And here it is. The wacky elevated racetrack with the outrageous curves.
Alright, let's give it a go! =)
Oops, I think I've messed this up.
But that's okay; this game actually allows you to recover from crashes and even "rewinds" to a safe point of your choosing(kinda like in the new Forza games). Let's try that now.
And see, there we go. Now let's try that again. =)
Got it! Let's see how far I can get.
Uh oh.
OK, let's give it another shot.
Hey, not bad. =)
Yikes! Mighta spoken too soon there.
Ouch. That was rough.
Hmm.....okay, let's try something else.
Eh, why not try one of these jumps again?
I'm gonna try to pull this truck outta here.
Actually, why not have a little fun with the dragging tool? =)
Let's reset the truck.
And.....not what I thought would happen.
That said, though, there's a fix for that: whenever you want to just start over where you first spawned.....
Just press the Home key on your keyboard! =)
Here's a neat little stair/sculpture type thing we can climb.
BTW, one really neat thing about four-wheel drive in this game is that at least some of the trucks actually have rangeboxes as in real vehicles. Let's go ahead and try that out!
Just click on the icon that shows up to the left of the speedometer.
And there you go. Simple as that. =)
Whoops!
There we go.
Okay, I think we're pretty much done for this section of the map.
Here's yet another thing we can crash into.
Whoa. Didn't quite expect *that* much breakage. =O
Anyway, thought I'd also take a quick look at those tubes over there.
Let's try the right one first.
Done with the right tube.
Now let's try the one on the left.
Oops. Well, let's hope the next run will be a little better.
There we go. Let's try that again.
Well, okay, think that's about as far as we could have gotten.
Let's try the suspension tests again.
Oops.
Well, since we're over here, I might as well show you the mudpits. Let's see how this truck fares!
OK, that was fun, but let's get the gear range setting back to normal.
See that building with the tall ramp on it? Let's try climbing it.
Slow and steady gets the job done.
And.....we made it.
OK, let's jump off now.
Let's try the offroad suspension test again.
Coming in at about 60, maybe 65 here.....
Whoops! Not what I meant to do. =p
Now for the other side of the rock test.
Just adjusting the angle, etc. a bit.
Setting the gear range to "Low".
And off we go.
Now, time for a quick crash.
Oh, there's also a mud testing area, too. Let's have a little fun with that.
Seems like the Gavril's struggling just a bit.
C'mon, c'mon.....
Hopefully we're not stuck.
It's getting there.....just a little more of a push.....
And there we go.
You know what, though? Why not try this again, but with the range box on "Low" this time?
Sorry for the delay-not sure what happened there.
There we go, though.
Seems to be doing a little better this time.
Oh yeah, that was definitely easier with the lower gearbox setting.
BTW, here's another neat little offroad thing we can try out.
OK, with the truck reset, we can go in now.
Yeah, gotta be careful, though, as you can't just charge in here.
Just up ahead, there's some sort of cave. Let's take a quick look, shall we?
Oh, yeah, it's really dark in here. Can't see a thing.
Okay, well, I think we'll just explore this thing some other time.
Oh, let's see if we can hit that floating cube.
Whoops, not even close. Did get a nice flip, though.
Here's another large ramp we can scale.
Didn't see that coming, LOL. =p
That's OK, though.
And here's an area where you can jump thru these trees.
Uh oh. Think we've got a problem here.
There we go. Sorry about that folks. Think it may have been one of those keyboard issues I was talking about.
Anyway, let's have a quick bit of fun with one of these ramps before we go back to where we were.
With that over with, let's get back to the trees, shall we?
Okay, here we go.
Oh man, so close.
Let's go ahead and recover the vehicle.
OK, now let me try to re-adjust this truck for a minute.
OK, let's hope this works! =)
Well, crap. Not quite.
Recovery time again.....
Readjusting again.....
OK, third time may be the charm, as it were.....
Yep, we're coming in at 70, at least. Looking pretty good.
Yeehaw!!!!!
Better landing than I thought would happen, too. Nice. =)
Now, let's have some more fun with altitude and jump this hill right here.
Managed to catch some decent airtime with that one.
I'm going to try another high speed jump.
Didn't quite work out as I hoped. Ah well.
Here's a nice quick little diversion.
Also, let's try crashing into a few more of these blocks.
Oh, and remember the terrain testing area we saw earlier? Let's try it now!
We'll hit the dirt first.
Next, rolling thru the grass.
Time for a little mud bogging! =)
Anybody up for playing in the sand? =)
And finally, can trucks surf? Lulz. =p
Nope!
And that's what happens when a car is stuck in deep enough water for too long-how many other games out there take little details like that into account?
Okay, let's just reset this thing now.
Hmm.....let's see what happens here.
Wow. Not quite the crash I expected, but this one looked kinda cool, if you ask me. =)
Now let's try jumping off that building over there.
Damn, that was a close one.
OK, here we go, folks.
Geronimo!!!!!
And wow, this truck survived without even bending an axle! =)
But let's see how well the Gavril holds up in the next crash.
Well, it was nice while it lasted, I suppose.
Anyway, why not try to get a few more crashes in this video, huh?
Oh, this looks good.
Let's go ahead and reset the Gavril.
Whoops.
Think I see another crash coming on....
Yep, there we go.
Oh, and there's one more offroad area I want to explore. Let's check it out, shall we?
Okay, I think I might have had another keyboard input delay there. Sorry.
Anyway, let's forge on.
Oh, shoot. Not this again.
A bit farther back than I'd intended, but at least we're back on track again.
Sorry, folks. I don't know quite how to deal with input delays yet. Hopefully there aren't too many more of these. =\
Let's keep trying, though. We'll make it out sooner or later.
I see the exit.....
And there we go. That was the last of the offroad courses on Gridmap.
Oh, there's that floating cube again. Let's see if we can actually hit it this time.
Well, I got the bottom of it, but that still counts, right? =)
BTW, you want to know what I want to do for the encore performance? I want to see if I can hit 100 mph on this course without crashing the D-Series.
So, here we go, folks! =D
Okay, we're up to 75.....
Eighty.....
Ninety-gettin' close.....
Whoops. Well, that's okay, we can always reset.
Okay, let's try again.
Okay, we're at 75 again.....
85 now.....
90, I think we can make it.
About to hit a turn, but I think we can do this.....
97.....
98.....
99 mph.....
And there we are! A hundred miles an hour achieved. =D
Okay, we topped at 102 mph, so I think that about does it for this run.
And one more crash for good measure. =)
You know what, though? I guess we can play around in the mud pits one more time since we're already over here, anyway.
And here we are, right back where we started this whole journey. =)
In any case, I hope you enjoyed this long introduction to BeamNG.drive. I myself am only a novice player at this game as of now, but I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
The stunts, the racing, and even just plain old driving are all fun with this game, especially thanks to the quality physics engine as well as the variety of vehicles and fun maps....
Not just those that come with the game, but all the many, many mods out there, too.
Safe to say, I'm now totally hooked on this game. =)
So, anyway, please don't forget to leave comments; any praise, constructive criticism, helpful hints & tips(including for making videos, including for this game), etc., are all very much appreciated. =)
And please don't forget to subscribe! I will be making more videos in the future, including to help improve my video making skills.
And this is Steve saying, see ya 'round! =)
