Tottenham to bid £15m for Swansea defender Alfie Mawson who could replace Toby Alderweireld

TOTTENHAM will make a £15million swoop for Swansea centre-half Alfie Mawson. Boss Mauricio Pochettino has been in touch with the Welsh club over the England Under-21 defender.

Alfie Mawson could be making a £15million move to Tottenham after a fine season for Swansea. Spurs see him as part of their squad for next season and eventually a long-term starter at White Hart Lane.

Keep up to date with all the latest news, gossip, rumours and done deals in SunSport's live transfer blog.

Mawson has been a huge hit for Swans since moving from Barnsley in a £5m deal at the start of the campaign — and his value has now trebled.

It is a massive turn-around for the 23-year-old, who left Brentford a couple of years ago for a pittance. But he could be heading back to London as a major Premier League capture.

Pochettino wants an extra defender — preferably good on the ball — to back up his two main centre-halves and possibly replace Toby Alderweireld if he is sold.

Toby Alderweired remains the subject of transfer speculation – but Spurs have a replacement lined up.

Spurs tried for Harry Maguire and were still making calls about him before he joined Leicester from Hull in a £17million deal and lucrative contract they did not want to match.

Meanwhile, Swansea are chasing Spanish midfield star Roque Mesa but face a fight with Sevilla. Supremo Huw Jenkins is in talks with the player's club Las Palmas about a £9million deal and has contacted the player's agents.

Mauricio Pochettino is set to strengthen an already strong Spurs squad this summer. Sevilla are trying to land Mesa, who would be an ideal replacement for veteran Leon Britton, 34, in Paul Clement's team.

The 28-year-old is a late developer at Las Palmas after a career with lesser sides — but he is now one of the most highly regarded of his kind.

The Swans hope they can better Sevilla's personal terms package and tempt Mesa to leave his home country for a new venture.

Az ipolysági zsidóság története - Duration: 4:59.

Shoah; a Hebrew word meaning catastrophe, peril

The only problem was the constant fear: what the future brings and the life of Jews was in such an atmosphere until March 1944 came.

Then the avalanche started. (Benjamin Schany - survivor)

The tragedy of the Jews of Ipolyság

During the Holocaust Ipolyság belonged to Hungary, but nowadays it is part of Slovakia.

The border-town with its eight thousand inhabitants was ceded to Hungary according to the First Vienna Arbitration.

We can talk about Jews of Ipolyság since the second half of the 19th century

when the Jewish religious community and the elementary school were established.

In 1876 the community was split into two parts:

the Status Quo with its about 500 members

and a smaller one, the more conservative Orthodox community with 150 members.

The vast majority of the shops were owned by Jewish people

as well as the town's two hotels.

Ipolyság had eight doctors, six out of these eight were Jewish

and the rest of them were catholicized Jews.

The Jewish community of Ipolyság significantly contributed

to the economic and cultural development of the town.

As the first Hungarian city, Ipolyság was taken from Czechoslovak Republic in October 1938.

The Hungarian army marched into the town

and anti-Jewish legislation was put into effect

which had not threatened the lives of Jews yet.

In 1944 something terrible happened in the history of the country.

Hungary was occupied by the Nazi Germany

and Pál Pályi, the main judge of Ipolyság district

was very active and determined in regulating the Jews living in the area.

In April 1944 the Jewish property was listed. After 5th April just "people with yellow stars".

That was horrible,

it was really awful.

On 8th May the ghettoization started which lasted three days.

A little bit more than 1200 people from the town

and its surroundings were placed in the buildings of the area between

the Rózsa, Malom and Csepreghy streets.

There we had absolutely no idea

what was going to be in the ghetto...

After a month they were freed from the terrible conditions of the ghetto

but this kind of freedom did not "bring salvation" for them.

When they took us all to the agricultural school

then we were taken to wagons and deported.

The next stop was Balassagyarmat,

where they had to wait four days.

The train departed on 12th June,

which took most of them into the sure death.

Ipolyság, Kékkő and Losonc and their surroundings...

I am sure that there were at least three-four thousand people.

3801 persons were taken,

just about 150 Jews from Ipolyság returned.

There are more than 900 names on the wall of the restored synagogue. It commemorates the victims.

In my imagination I can draw the location of streets,

Jewish temples and especially the Orthodox church

where my grandfather had been a rabbi for decades.

I preserve what is in my heart and in my mind.

I do not want to go back there

and see that this does not exist anymore.
