Ok don't do that when I'm filming.
Alright I'm about to start.
Hi guys, welcome back.
So glad you're here.
As you can see today I have a special guest star.
And this is my daughter Taylen.
And, say hi.
Hi.
And today we are going to do a fun video for you.
Today we are going to do the dollar tree makeup challenge.
Taylen have you ever seen this challenge before?
On Youtube.
On YouTube.
A lot of people have done this challenge before.
So it's nothing new but I thought it would be a fun thing to do.
So what I did was I went to the Dollar Tree and I actually went to a couple of them.
The selections aren't the best.
And I got us a few things.
I got us some foundation.
Taylen you are a lot darker than I am.
But the next shade darker from this one was too dark even for you.
So we're just going to have to make this one work somehow.
I did get some bronzer so maybe you can bronze it up with that.
I got us, there was no concealer, and I need some concealer, so I got some of the cream
foundation and I'm hoping maybe I can turn that into a concealer.
And some powder.
I got, I didn't buy a lot of brushes cause I have a lot of drugstore brushes which I
thought would be fine for this challenge but I did buy this interesting looking little
kabuki brush.
Which I wish you could feel on the screen.
Feel this.
Is that not the weirdest thing you've ever felt in your life?
It feels like string.
It was a dolla.
So and then I did get a Wet N Wild this is a Wet N Wild crease brush and I actually have
a couple Wet N Wild brushes that I like a whole lot.
So i thought you know I can use a crease brush.
We'll see how this works.
But any other brushes that we use today other than those two will be ones I already had
from the drugstore.
Umm I got a couple lipsticks.
Kind of a pinky one.
Oh it's a duel.
It's got on both sides.
The gloss and now it's on the floor.
And then this one.
Which has got like a clear gloss.
I got a couple different blushes.
And I got the teeniest tiniest little mascara.
Was all I could find.
And a black eyeliner.
This is the only one I could find that wasn't a pencil.
And when you're fortysomething years old, someday you'll be there you're not there yet,
thank God, but when you get to be fortysomething and you try to drag a pencil across the top
of your eyelids it doesn't work.
So had to be this.
And then I just got a few different eyeshadow palettes so hopefully our goal is that we
are going to try to look as glam, beautiful, pretty, normal umm as possible using this
Dollar Tree makeup.
So do you think you can do it?
No.
Yes you can.
I feel like it's going to look like there's nothing there.
So you don't think there's going to be a lot of pigment?
Yeah.
Yeah that would be a fear of mine.
Let's open this up.
This is bright and poppin'.
Let's see let's just out of curiousity is it taped?
My goodness it is.
Alright.
Let's open this up.
Let's just swatch one and see.
What color should we swatch?
The dark blue.
The dark blue.
Alright rub my finger in it a little bit.
Let's see Taylen you might be right.
So there's not a whole lot of pigment there but I'm sure it's buildable.
So tell you what we're gonna do.
We're gonna go ahead, we're gonna pause and go take off our makeup right now and pin our
hair back and we're going to see what we can do with this Dollar Tree makeup challenge
so we'll see you in a minute.
Ok we're back.
Now I had to pause the camera so that we could go take off our makeup and I had dropped one
of the lipsticks on the floor so when I had paused the camera I reached down to get the
lipstick and my dog had beat me to it.
So I am now short one lipstick.
Don't know if you can see.
It has been eaten.
I mean literally, it's gone.
And my dogs face is pink.
So we're short one now we do still have the gloss on the other side.
So, wow no pigment but we do still have a gloss but we are short one lipstick.
So I really don't like being on camera with no makeup on whatsoever SCARY you can tell
I don't get any sleep.
So you ready to start?
I don't have any primer.
I couldn't find a primer at the Dollar Tree.
So we're just going to do this without primer.
And uh do you want to go first cause I did only get one foundation so go ahead we've
each got our little beauty blender.
It's like... it's solid.
Oh I'm scared.
Okay here's the foundation.
I'm going to try squeezing some into my little, ok it's not so bad.
Once it gets going it's ok.
So try it now.
You can use my palette if you want or you can use your hand.
Alright I'm going to pour me some in here too.
And then we'll just try this out.
Alright I don't know how we're going to do for a shade match here I really feel bad for
you cause I am a lot paler than you are.
But... oh uh oh ok.
Whatcha think so far?
What's your first impressions?
It's like there and then it's just like doesn't even blend out.
Alright well that's about as good as it's going to get with the foundation.
I just, I feel so pale.
I think a lot of it is this lighting too.
I got to get better lighting, lighting system up in here but so whatcha think?
I think yours did a good job.
Of course you have no imperfections to cover so.
Alright well I'm going to go in next with this and see if I can use it as a concealer.
Because I still have bags.
I feel like I'm going to break out.
Oh don't say that.
We'll wash real good after this.
Alright I'm going to try to use their little thing here and I'm going to try to smear this
doesn't even want to come off on the sponge put a little bit under my eyes.
And try to cover up those bags a little bit.
Ummmm.
Ok I'm really trying to be serious about this challenge dangit.
Alright no more laughing.
Be serious.
You want powder or anything?
I'm waiting on you.
Oh you're waiting on me.
Gosh pressure now I gotta go faster.
Blend blend blend blend blend.
Ok i'm not helping at all am I?
It's not blending.
Alright try a beauty blender.
Sigh.
Ok so it helped conceal the bags a little bit.
I mean there's no makeup in the world that can get rid of all my bags.
That's just not happening so for what I had to work with that's about as good as it's
going to get.
Alright.
How about some powder now?
I'm definitely going to set my fancy shmancy concealer under my eyeball.
Gonna use my Real Techniques brush.
You can get them at Walmart.
You know I probably should have tested this powder before I started putting it under my
eyeballs but it's ok.
Doesn't seem to really have much color or anything.
Ok.
Umm.
It looks better in the mirror than it does on camera.
I'll give it that.
Don't inhale it.
I don't know what's in it.
You know what I going to take a little bit more and put it all over my face.
Why not?
Go in with my bigger brush here.
Real Techniques brushes?
Yeah.
You didn't know that?
Yeah.
And now you know.
Alright.
So there we go alright.
So I say foundation is done.
So you wanna try, I'm a little bit scared of the bronzer.
Cause.... wooh.
That is dark.
It is literally the color of the package.
And it's got some shimmer in it too.
Let's try swatching it.
Mmmm.
It's not the worst thing in the world.
Yea it's not well since it's not that pigmented that might actually work in our favor.
Umm.
Okay.
You want me to go first?
Yes.
You skured?
Yeah.
Me too.
Alright.
Take this, this is uh just my Elf angled blush brush.
And I'm going to use it for my bronzer.
And I'm just gonna little bit right up here brush it into my hairline.
It's not that bad.
My temples.
I don't know if I want to contour with it.
Well the fact that it's not very pigmented is probably a good thing.
Eww.
Oh.
It looks like it's just a line on the camera.
Yeah on the camera it's definitely much more accentuated than in my little mirror right
here.
I like my mirror better right now.
But you know what one side's done we gotta do the other side.
We gotta match them up.
So.
I'm just going to go back in with my guy here and see if we can make it not quite such a
line.
Not really.
Pretty muddy.
What about you?
Going to be brave?
Yeah.
Normally I would contour the double chin a little bit but you know what I think I will
just let it go.
You don't have to worry about that.
Laughing.
It's not that bad.
Look, it's not that bad.
I probably won't reach for it everyday, I'll be honest.
I'll stick with my butter bronzer.
But it's really it's not that, it's a dollar, I mean.
That ain't bad.
Laughing.
See the thing is you're so dark that it just, you can do no wrong.
I think it looks good on you.
I think it looks good on you.
Good job.
Alright.
Got a couple different blushes.
We got a darker like a peach rose and then we've got the lighter pink blush.
Which are you thinking?
That's what I'm thinking too.
And now she's at the advanced old age of 12.
This is very barbie pink it's just very wow umm goodness it is pink.
It looks white but it's pink it's just very pale pink.
I'm definitely thinking I'm going to go with the peach rose as well.
It looks shimmery.
It does look very shimmery which makes me... oh I get to go first again?
I love I'm the guinea pig.
Alright this was my idea so...
This time I'm going in this is another Elf brush and this is just the, this is the bronzing
brush.
So I use my blush brush for my bronzer and I use my bronzer brush for my blush because
that's how I roll.
I know right, there isn't much well I think the black Elf brushes are a little more dense,
they're a little bit better quality.
The white ones are a little bit cheaper.
I think these were like $3.00.
You can't beat that.
That's never a good thing to hear when you've put on makeup.
Well I mean I guess it is if you're going for the natural look but usually when I put
on makeup people aren't going to think that I'm not wearing any.
See it looks good in this mirror down here.
Alright now what?
Can you see it?
Yeah.
Ok.
Alright it's all yours.
It's the lighting.
I gotta, I gotta get some better lighting up in here to film these videos cause you
just can't see what I'm seeing.
It actually looks pretty good.
The blush does.
Alright let me think.
What's next?
Eyeshadow.
I guess it is.
It's really down to eyes and lips isn't it?
Oh I didn't get anything for brows.
You know what, I can use an eyeshadow for my brows.
I don't know.
I can barely do my brows with a brow pencil.
I don't know if I can do it with eyeshadow.
That's beautiful.
Ok so I kinda, I kinda like the blush.
I'm going to use the matte brown out of this eyeshadow palette.
I'm a little bit scared.
My brows and I have a very love hate relationship.
And oh lord I need to tweeze them.
Same.
Oh my God.
See and that is, it's so different when I was a kid at 12 years old I didn't even know
my eyebrows existed.
I mean I would never be tweezing them or anything like that.
Times have changed.
Young women today grow up too fast.
That's not mom talking that's just the truth.
Look how far back I am from the camera.
I'll get closer.
Ok this isn't doing anything.
I don't think at all there just no pigment.
So we'll just let the brows go.
So we forgot to use our special brush but I think that's ok.
I'm not that upset.
So what are you thinking about for eyes?
You gonna glam it up bright you gonna go a neutral, a smokey eye?
A nude something.
A nude something.
So you're probably wanting this guy right here.
Which is the, you know we didn't say the names of any of these but I think everything we
got here all the eyeshadows are LA Colors.
I think on the back of them...
Oh ok so this one is Chic and these are Bold and on this one I've got Fling.
Which I just thought those were pretty bright colors.
Taylen has the nudes.
Alright since she's taking the nudes I'm going to go with the not nudes.
I did think about that.
I'm going to see...
Alright.
And then here's a whole bunch of eyeshadow brushes.
My allergies are killing me I'm sorry.
I know I keep sniffling.
This one is coming out of the thing.
Yeah for a dollar you kinda... probably not the best quality in the world.
I am going to just set the little applicator aside and I'm going to use some brushes.
These are my Sonia Kashuk, umm a lot of these are Morphe, and you've got an Avon one.
There's just all kinds of brushes thrown in here.
I am going to, I'm not a big fan of shimmers as a transition shade but I see no choice
and of course I don't have an eyeshadow primer or anything.
But let's see how to do this on camera.
Ok so for some reason the camera just decided to stop filming.
Oh my god.
We're almost out of time.
Alright move fast, move fast.
Tell you what we're going to come back when we've finished our look.
Alright guys I apologize the storage is running out on my camera so we had to pause and go
finish putting on the rest of our Dollar Tree makeup.
And ta-da.
Taylen you look awesome.
You rocked that eyeshadow.
Go ahead and show them your eyeshadow.
Beautiful.
Good job.
Alright so mine didn't knock me quite as out of the park as hers did but honestly all in
all seriousness, you know joking about Dollar Tree makeup aside, makeup is expensive.
And if you're just starting out or you're young, you're a teenager all the girls have
makeup you know and oh her mom buys her this I kinda wanted to show that you could go to
the Dollar Tree and you can buy some makeup and you can get a face of makeup for a cheap
price.
I mean I paid $15 for all of this.
I mean multiple eyeshadows, brushes, I even got a pencil sharpener.
I mean I spent $15.
I think it's a pretty face.
How do you feel about your face?
I mean the lipstick is like a little tingly.
Yeah the lipstick, we both used the gloss on the other end not the dog chewed end and
umm it smelled like fake bubblegum medicine and it tingled when you put it on.
Kinda like a plumper but it's not a plumper.
So that was a little scary and some of it we couldn't even use.
We couldn't use the eyeliner it was just too hard, there was not .... we're running out
of time so I hope you guys had fun today.
