Hello everyone
and welcome in the first tutorial video
from l'Atelier du six.
Today, we'll fold together this little kimono
Which is an invitation, or an announcement
Because slippers are in fact a small folded card
Which can welcome all your small messages.
To fold this model, we need
a 7.9 in sheet, rather with motives
and a 5.9 in sheet of kami
Inside of it, we'll cut a 5.5 * 4.7 inches rectangle.
The remaining strip, below
will allow to make the kimono belt.
And so, we start quietly, motives are up
we fold the shee t in the middle
before unfold it
turn the sheet by 90°, and fold again in two
but, just on the half right.
like this line shows the kimono top
if ther is a direction for motives,
You'll have to pay attention.
Unfold, and use this mark to fold quarter.
We will fold this flap once again
And do the same thing on the other side. Turn the sheet
And fold again the borders to the middle.
When you've done this...
Unfold all!
Let's see where the middle mark is
and place it on top
We fold the top quarter of the sheet
turn it
And put the edge on the middle
while freeing the flap backside
Unfold again, and turn your sheet
For this part, as it's really difficult to see all the lines
I have to do a little magic trick
And it's done...
So, we'll have to make some prefolds
to collapse the model soon
let's start with 45° diagonals
wich start from the middle square
As they are 45° angles
You can use the previous folds
to better align the sheet
Do the same on the over side
stopping your line at the second line
2 new folds, still at 45°, from corner to border
look again to the previous folds to align your edges.
And repeat on the over side
Two more, there and there...
And finally, two mountain folds, from the top center
to the reference point.
Prefold is now done,
and we can collapse the model
We'll first pull down two edges on the first valley fold
and mark again the two mountain folds on each side.
If your folds are strong, you just have to put what you've just folded to the center,
By pressing on the small point wich is on the back of the model.
Model is becoming flat again...
See the two new folds... squash them.
The model is flat again.
Now, we'll shape the sleeves
To do this, we have to do several folds
wich are diificult to see, but quite simple to do
The first one consisting in putting this edge on the edge directly underneath.
Open the flap on the side of the kimono
and put gently the edge to align it with the other, making a new fold
wich starts in the lower corner of the sleeve
In the same time, make a fold from the lower corner of the kimono
to the point on the center of the kimono
Squash the fold on top.
The, we'll fold an open sink
On the border. There's no reference
But the flaps show you the limit of the fold you can do
To make this one, just poush the center point
and fold again thes edges
Then, put the flap
under the opposite one.
Then, do it again on the over side
Unfold the flap and make the two folds simultaneously,
the one on the sleeve
And the one on the bottom. Be careful and don't mark it !
Because we've got to do another one instead of this one
Indeed, we are going to do so that this edge is parallel to the edges of the kimono
And squash this one.
The bonus paper you'll have is squashed where you'll find the belt
Make a new open sink
Prefold and don't hesitate to completly open the model to fold it
Push the center and squash
Then, turn your model
There's 2 new folds to push up the sleeves
And create the collar of the kimono. For that, we use the line of the middle as the reference
Align the point wich appears when you start to fold
Again, there's no reference
the lower you put this point the wider the sleeves are
Use your first fold as reference for the second
Then, fold to the back the top point to create the collar
You can put your model aside, we'll fold the belt
Your belt is the long and thick paper
And we are going to fold it in two lengthwise.
The open side is up, then count the width of one finger
And make a 45° fold
The part of paper underneath go in the point on the back of the kimono
Turn around the kimono with the belt
Once you'll return other the start point
Make a new 45° fold and stick the last piece of paper under the belt
To conclude, we are going to place the slippers, so the small message
Select the wide side and fold it in 3
Then just slide it in the kimono, and if you need, spread the sides lightly.
The model is now finished...
Congratulations !
