Kit review: ICM Vatican Swiss Guard in 1/16 scale - Duration: 9:26.Swiss Guardsman, ICM 1/16 scale, kit review
Hello everyone to the kit review of ICM´s Swiss Guardsman in 1/16 scale (or 120mm scale as figure collectors call this scale).
This is a pretty new kit and part of a new figure series launched by ICM, which includes other elite-guard soldiers.
There is for example a French Republican Guardsman and also a Guard from Italy. Sounds very interesting to me!
It seems like all these guards are still in service today.
Since 1970 the Pontifical Swiss Guard is the only remaining military formation of the Pope. In the past the Pope had several different guard formations.
As the name suggests the Swiss Guard consists only of Swiss.
They have to comply to various requirements in order to become a Guardsman. The qualifying examinations are very hard of course.
Contrary to the common belief the uniform was not designed by Michelangelo in the Renaissance, but was introduced in its current appearance in 1914.
Despite being very old-fasioned the uniforms are pretty new.
The pose of the Swiss Guardsman in this kit is typical, he is on guard duty (sentinel).
Thats how most people see the Guardsmen on duty, standing infront of various gates.
Enough of the background history, let´s have a closer look at the kit.
In the past the ICM boxes were very flimsy. The cardboard was too thin and sometimes you had to deal with smashed parts.
However, they changed their mind. ICM provides now a very firm box.
Inside we have all the sprues in a plastic bag along with instructions and a bigger version of the boxart picture. You can frame that and put it above your bed if you want.
The kit comes with rudimentary assembly instructions and a proper painting guide. Not bad at all.
On this map they show all included sprues and the number of each individual part, just in case you can not find a certain part on the sprues.
Over here we have a paint chart refering to Revell and Tamiya.
Besides that the colors are named in English, just in case you neither of the two suggested paint brands. Maybe you use Vallejo instead?
The chart will be sufficient to give you an idea of the paints you need.
On the back we have the actual painting guide, which also serves as the assembly instruction. The parts are all named wit numbers, you can find them on the sprues.
As you can see you have two options here. You can build the guard with the cap or the Morion helmet with a feather crest. Both are nice options.
I like how smaller details are highlighted for the painter. For example, how does the belt buckle look like up close and how to paint it?
Down here we can see the scabbard of the rapier in detail.
The figure does not consist of many parts. The interesting thing here is painting the figure. Because of that i consider the instructions to be good enough.
On the first sprue we have the biggest parts of the figure, which are torso, legs and upper arms.
You see that each section consists of two halves with locators. This will alleviate the assembly process.
The level of detail is nice. There are not many creases on the uniform. It is a guard soldier and he is meant to look pristine. Anyway, it looks very natural.
It will be quite a challenge to paint the sleeves here. They are very colorful with sharp lines between the colors.
Same applies to the torso, but as you can probably see there are thin lines which mark the pattern.
The "V" shaped section will be painted blue, the rest will be painted orange.
I like how this pattern is scribed in the part. Maybe you can get away without masking it off. It could work to paint on the pattern free hand following the lines carefully.
On the second sprue we find most of the other parts except for the weapons.
Over here i can see a bit of flash on the parts, but it should be no big problem to scrape that off.
The level of detail is pretty decent. The faces look nice.
You can see here two heads, one for the cap option and one for the helmet option.
I like the fact that there are only few connection points between the parts and the sprue gate. This will save time when you clean up the parts.
I like the cap a lot, but most likely i will go for the helmet. It looks more badass and exotic that way.
Here are the faces in detail. the Boots with gaiters look nice.
The fingers come as separate sections, that is not the best solution in my opinion.
You will certainly have to fill a tiny gap there and during the filling and sanding process you could loose detail on the hands. Be careful there.
Let´s think of painting the figure again: It will be very handy to keep these four sections separate during the painting process.
You can see them here on the pictures, they will be these yellow stripes on the trousers.
The parts are separate, so i recommend to paint them and the trousers before you put them on the figure.
Here we have the halberd, rapier and helmet.
I like the helmet in particular. It looks nice and is split into three sections in a very clever way to maintain the level of detail there.
The halberd is slightly bent here. There is also a light twist on the pole. Not a big deal to fix this tough.
The rapier looks sweet. There is no flash or other blemish visible.
Here are the helmet parts up close. Especially the iron crest has many small details.
The kit comes wit such a small stand as well. It is a very nice addition to the kit.
It is made out of black plastic. Don´t worry, it is just as solid as normal plastic is, the color is just different.
The base will give the figure a precious appearance.
There is a bottom part and four top parts where you can choose between several pavements.
I personally like that one here the most, when i build this i will use this one.
All in all it is a very solid kit which consists of only few parts.
Some areas of the figure are split into several pieces in a way that allows us to paint up the uniform more easily.
Quite a sophisticated affair, i am sure there are no obstacles for having a great time with this figure at the workbench.
The kit costs about 20€. That is alright in my opinion, considering the quality of the product.
The uniform is very colorful and appears to be very difficult to paint at the first glance, but i think this figure is actually suitable for beginners.
There are not a lot of crinkles in the uniform, so beginners do not get exhausted with all the shading.
You do not have to add any kind of weathering as well, because a guard soldier always looks pristine.
Thats it for this kit review. I hope you enjoyed it and see you in the next video, your Hamilkar Barkas.

'Cause we love the Paw Patrol, and we love to dance to it.
Well Bobby, I think what we need to do now is
take our special water tub toys and take them
and have a play time with them in the tub.
Do you kids wanna come along?
Okay, let's go play with the Paw Patrol.
Oh boy, Rubble, on the double.
Oh no, is Rubble sinking?
Hey Zuma, they're off, swimming around.
Ooh, ooh, we gotta get Skye in on this action.
(toy winding up)
There she goes.
Oh wow, she's going quick.
Let's make her go over there.
Let's get Rubble.
Rubble's kinda running out of juice.
Let's wind him up again.
Looks like Zuma is, too.
They've gotta have water in them
to make them go under the water to flap.
Yeah!
Okay, Skye is not working.
Let's fix her.
There's Skye, look at her go, look at her go.
Cool!
And Zuma, boy she goes quick.
And let's see about Rocky.
Uh oh, I think I wound it too tight.
Rocky's not working, but Rocky can float.
Rocky doesn't like water anyway. (laughing)
Let's get Skye again.
These are cool.
Oh, I almost did it on Skye.
We don't wanna wind too tight.
There she goes, look at her go, look at her go.
Oh boy, this makes bath time so much fun.
Let's do Zuma again.
I love winding these up and letting them go
and letting them swim around in my tub.
There's Zuma, oh boy.
I even brought my Zuma hovercraft rescue thing
so that we can have fun with him, too.
And I also brought Wally.
Wally likes to suck water in
and, let's see if I can get him to do it.
It got some water, and here he goes, it squirts.
He's getting Zuma.
Wally, don't be mean to Zuma.
So we got Zuma and, oh here's this, it's Rocky.
Rocky fell over; we don't want Rocky to fall over.
(toy squirting)
Let's fill him up with water too, 'cause he squirts.
Oh, let's let squirting Rocky get Rocky that's in the tub.
I got him. (laughing)
Did you see that?
Oh, let's fill him up with water again.
We gotta get to our rescue adventure here, too.
Ah, he got Zuma good.
I mean not Zuma, Rocky.
Let's do that again, that was funny.
Hey Skye, go over there.
I squirted Skye, oh she goes into the bubbles.
I love bubble baths.
They're so much fun.
Aww, Rocky and Wally.
He's squirting, here he goes.
Oh no, Wally is sunken down to the bottom of the tub.
We have to save him.
Ooh ooh ooh, it's Captain Turbot.
He's gonna get in his diving bell
and go down and save him.
Oh no, here he goes.
Oh no, Captain Turbot's diving bell is gonna sink.
I think, very slowly.
It's a slowly sinking diving bell.
It's going down, it's upside down.
Oh no, Captain Turbot's trapped.
I think Ryder will have to save him with Zuma.
Where's Zuma's hovercraft?
It needs to convert.
Okay Zuma, get in your hovercraft.
And you need to go down there and help Captain Turbot
get to the surface.
Here you go, and we'll get Ryder and he'll dive in.
Oh Ryder's down at the bottom.
Oh here we go, here we go.
There down in the water, ah.
They're down at the very bottom.
Oh wow, let me pick up Ryder, he's fallen over.
"We need to help Captain Turbot," says Ryder.
"Okay," says Zuma.
We gotta get Wally, too, 'cause Wally is underwater.
But Wally is supposed to be underwater.
He can breathe, kind of.
He's gonna get out.
There he goes.
Oh no, oh no, oh no.
Everything's going wrong.
The hovercraft flew up to the top,
but I think we can still save him, Ryder.
Yeah, I think we can save him.
Okay, let's get Captain Turbot
and flip him upside down like this.
He's supposed to be okay.
Okay, let's see if we can pull him up.
Oh, whoops, Zuma fell.
Ryder, you got him?
Up to the top he goes.
And look, all the water comes out the back
so that no water will be left inside.
Isn't that cool?
Oh, and Ryder's on the bottom again with Zuma.
They're on the bottom of the water.
Zuma keeps trying to float.
Oh, we've gotta save Zuma.
He's flipped upside down, Captain Turbot.
There we go, oh he's down in the very bottom.
Oh Zuma, oh he's floating back up to the top.
Oh no, he's flipped upside down.
Watch out there, here comes Zuma's hovercraft.
He's gonna save Zuma.
Put Zuma in his hovercraft.
He's underwater now.
I can't see it.
Let me get Zuma in there, there we go.
Zuma's back underwater, and he's gonna go over here
and get Ryder by the foot.
Aw, Ryder, he missed him.
Zuma's hovercraft, let's turn it sideways so it dives.
I love playing in the water with my Paw Patrol pups.
This is so much fun.
It's been a fun adventure, hasn't it, Bobby?
- [Bobby] Yeah Mr. Hands, it has been nice and fun.
- [Mr. Hands] It's been awesome.
Bobby is a monster puppet, aren't you Bobby.
- [Bobby] Yeah, if I feel wet,
I turn into a gremlin. (laughing)
- [Mr. Hands] (laughing) You do what, Bobby?
- I don't take baths. Yucky.
- [Mr. Hands] Oh, so you're kinda like Rocky, huh?
You don't like baths.
- [Bobby] No.
- [Mr. Hands] (laughing) Okay, there's Zuma, Bobby.
See Zuma?
- [Bobby] Yeah.
- [Mr. Hands] Oh Zuma's getting the diving bell,
or trying to, it's really far away.
Oh, it fell sideways.
A minute ago, it was all right.
Let's turn this the other way.
There we go, got that.
Let's see if it will float.
Oh, it does, it floats.
Ryder jumps out of the water like a hammerhead shark.
And dives back in. (laughing)
The diving bell's way over here.
Our diving bell doesn't wanna stay up all the way.
Oh, is someone about to float out?
It's Captain Turbot.
Here he goes, he's out.
Does he sink?
Yeah, he sinks like all the other ones.
Boy, let's wind up our toys again.
This has been so much fun, it's been a fun adventure.
I like the Rubble one.
I like the Rocky one, oh, Rocky fell over.
Let's fix him, oh, he fell over again.
Let's try that again, Rocky.
Are you okay?
Rocky's having problems.
I think he's got too much water in him.
Well, Rocky's not working right anyway, he's kinda broken.
And Rubble on the double.
Lets let him go around the tub.
There he goes.
And Zuma.
Do you love to take bubble baths?
I do, and I love to play with all my Paw Patrol toys
when I'm in the bubble bath.
There's Zuma. (laughing)
There's Skye. Skye's over there hiding in the bubbles.
Skye, come here.
Here's Skye. Skye goes really fast.
She's got a really fast tail.
Let's wind her up all the way and put her in the water.
Let's let her kinda sink a little bit so she'll stay
in the water, and then there she goes.
Wow, look at how fast Skye goes.
She's going the wrong way.
Oh, Skye is cool and Wally.
Wally, he squirts water.
The Paw Patrol pups probably don't like Wally
when he does this. (laughing)
Well, this has been lots of fun.
Spin Master toys are awesome.
We need to dry off all of our Paw Patrol
that we had a fun play time in the tub with.
These are cool, and we even had our Zuma set,
which is really neat too.
And we had lots of fun playing with all these.
Let's go ahead and move these over to the side
and now, Kids, we are going to do the toy review itself.
Now parents, this is for you at home.
But kids, stick around because you'll learn
some fun things about our Paw Patrol toys from Spin Master.
Well, let's start off first with the diving bell.
Captain Turbot, I always say this wrong,
it's Turbot, and our little squirting toy
of Marshall here.
First, let's look at Captain Turbot.
This is the first time we've had any action figures
of him in the Paw Patrol Spin Master figure series.
Now this toy is articulated.
That means his legs move like this,
he can actually sit down like he does in the diving bell.
And, his arms move.
They go all the way around.
His legs don't go all the way around.
But his head is stationary; it does not turn.
Captain Turbot has glasses,
and this is very reminiscent of the cartoon.
It looks just like him.
Look at the detail on that.
I really like this figure,
because it's gonna be a nice addition
to add to our Paw Patrol collection here.
I'm really glad that they decided
to actually make these toys for us to play with.
It's really neat.
And this one is waterproof, too, as we found out. (laughing)
He is a neat figure and we'll have lots of fun
and imagination and pretend times with him in the future.
This is the diving bell.
Now, the diving bell was fun because it sunk down
to the bottom, and Zuma and Rocky
had to save Captain Turbot.
But he actually sinks because there's little holes
right here in the bottom,
so the whole thing takes on water.
And he fits right down in there.
I don't know if you can see this,
but there's a little keyboard right there
where he can do all the controls for his diving bell.
It's pretty neat.
Now they use these little side pieces to hold him in there.
Let me show you how this works.
We'll put him in there, and that holds him in place
rather than a little hole or something for his little stud
that comes in and holds him in place.
So that's an interesting difference.
It does have the back base right there
for him to go up against, and the inside
is pretty detailed compared to what I thought it would be.
Now we can see there's painting all over the sides here.
This is paint, which is nice, because that means we
can put it in water, and it of course, is all plastic, too.
Now on the back of the diving bell, we have
this little rudder here that moves, which is cool and neat.
And, once we put Captain Turbot in here,
we can close up the diving bell and he's inside.
Can you see him in there?
There he is.
So we've got little windows in the front
and a little window in the back, so that's pretty cool.
I really love this toy; it's so neat.
And what's really great is you can use it in the tub.
And last but not least is our little Rocky here.
Now Rocky is stuck on the float.
That's because Rocky is a squirting toy.
See the little float on the front?
It 's got a little mouth right there
that squirts water when you put in it.
And he is, of course, painted.
There is no stickers on him, because he goes in the water.
He'll float and he'll also sink
if you put too much water in him.
But he's a nice little addition for your bath time fun.
Now let's look at all the little bath toys
that came with it.
With Rubble, Skye, Zuma, and Rocky.
Let's dive in!
This is Zuma, there he goes.
He is ready to swim, 'cause Zuma is a chocolate lab.
And chocolate Labradors love water.
And him being in the Paw Patrol, he's definitely ready
for water rescue missions, as we found out.
Well this is a swimming one, and these are basically simple.
They're kinda made of a hard plastic,
they are definitely made for water,
and they have a little thing here on the top
where you wind it and you don't wanna wind it too tight.
When it gets a little tight, right about there,
that's where we wanna stop.
And we can hold the little legs to keep it from going,
but once we let go, he's gonna swim like crazy.
Look at him go.
(laughing) Zuma's neat, he's orange, he looks a lot
like the Zuma we know and love, but he's a little bit
designed more for water play because of that.
The Paddling Pups from Spin Master
really did a good job on this Zuma.
I like it, we really had fun with it.
Let's take a look at Rocky here.
Oh Rocky, Rocky, Rocky.
Now Rocky's the same, it looks like.
But Rocky's on some sort of little hover board thing.
Rocky likes boards.
He likes hover boards, he likes surf boards,
he likes boogie boards, he likes all kinds of boards.
He's got his little goggles on right there as you can see.
And he is made of a pretty durable hard plastic.
And just like the Zuma toy, he winds up,
let me wind him up here and hold his legs
so he doesn't go anywhere.
And once he is wound up, you put him in the water
like we did, and he just goes flop flop flop flop flop.
He is swimming, look at him go!
Well, when I was a little kid, I loved to play
with these type of toys in the bath tub.
And your little one will, too.
Let's move on to Skye right here.
Skye is just like the others, except her tail moves.
Whoa, she's trying to take off.
Skye's a quick one.
Let's wind her up.
We don't wanna wind her up too much,
that's one thing you wanna teach your little ones
when they play with this is they don't wanna wind up
the wind up part too much, because if they do,
it can cause it to break.
And I'll show you what happened to one of ours
here in a second.
But whoa, Skye's ready to go.
Skye went really really fast,
and this looks like Skye, of course.
Nothing else on her moves except her tail,
'cause she is made for water play.
Now our last one is Rocky.
Now I love Rocky.
I love that Rocky is in this little piece right here,
because Rocky doesn't like water that much.
But he can stand water if he's in a raft.
And that's what he is.
But what happened with Rocky is this got wound
a little too much on the back,
and when that happened, it broke.
So our Rocky doesn't really work, but he still floats,
and we can still have fun with him like we did.
Rocky's very cute, love the face, the green, the Rocky hat.
And of course, Rocky doesn't like water,
so he's on a floaty device.
But he's pretty cool.

Should a Married Couple File Jointly or Separately? TurboTax Tax Tip Video - Duration: 1:47.[Music]
Hi, I'm Arye from TurboTax with some helpful tax tips about a married couple filing jointly
or separately.
There are a lot of wonderful things about being married, and believe it or not, your
taxes can be one of them.
But should you and your spouse file separately or jointly?
In most cases filing jointly will save you the most money, but you should still consider
your decision carefully.
When you file jointly you report a single taxable income that combines your earnings
with your spouse's.
Taxes are calculated using a different set of tax brackets than when you file separately.
The primary advantage of filing jointly is that each tax bracket covers a higher range
of taxable income than filing separately.
Essentially this means that often more of your income can be taxed at lower rates, resulting
in a lower tax bill than you'd get by filing separately.
And the larger the difference in income between spouses, the more tax you might be able to
save by filing jointly.
The primary drawback to filing jointly is that you and your spouse are separately responsible
for all taxes - not just the tax related to your own earnings.
For example, suppose you earned $ 50,000 last year and your spouse earned $100,000.
Although you only earned a third of the income, you would be responsible for taxes on the
entire $150,000 if your spouse owes taxes or is unable to pay.
Under very limited circumstances the IRS can grant various types of relief that either
eliminates the joint liability or reduces the amount of tax you are responsible for.
If you ever are unsure about how you should file, TurboTax can help.
