In this Video, We will learning about "Quick & Direct Editing".
Welcome back at "One Future Solution" channel.
Thanks for watching this video !
In this video, We will learning about "Quick & Direct Editing".
How to do quick and direct model editing.
So, We will modify this model.
"Instant 3D" model.
And you can download this part model at the link in the description field below !
Ok, We can open our SolidWorks like this !
Then, We can "Open" !
Open the file that We downloaded before !
"Open" !
"Instant 3D" !
"Open" !
Ok, We want to modify this model using direct and quick editing method.
As We already learning about "Model Modification" in the few previous videos,
nah, right here We want to learning about how We modify a model quickly & directly.
Ok, Here, We have the "Instant 3D" part like this,
if We put our cursor on this surface, click !
It was showing the dimensions.
Previously, if We want to edit this one We should to go to this feature first,
this one "out".
Right click !
"Edit Sketch" !
to allow us edit this geometry dimensions.
We can "Exit Sketch" !
Honestly, We can directly edit these dimensions,
click this surface !
Actually, We can directly edit the dimension that was appear like this.
Let's say, We double click this "37,5" dimension !
Double click at the dimension value, not the dimension line, double click !
Double click until it was showing this "Modify" dialog box.
Then, We can edit this dimension, let's say input "40" !
"Enter" !
Nah, Why it doesn't change (updating) ?
As same as with the previous video,
to updating the changes, We can use "CTRL+B" or click "Rebuild" over here.
"Rebuild" !
Nah, it was changed now.
So, like that.
We can "Undo" !
So, We don't need to...
Right click this surface !
"Edit Sketch".
So, We don't need to do "Edit Sketch",
if We just want to change this geometry dimension/size.
Click outside this area !
We just need to click the surface that We want to edit !
If there's appears its dimensions,
We can pick the dimension that We want to edit, then just double click at the dimension value.
So, it was to edit the dimensions.
But, if We want to edit the shape, let's say from square into circle,
We should to activate the "Edit Sketch" for that. Not only edit the dimensions as the previous sample.
So, We should to activate the "Edit Sketch" position to edit the sketch shape.
Ok, right now We can click outside this area to clear these selection !
Then, We can check first, "Features" !
There's "Instant 3D" feature.
We can turn off that feature first !
Make sure it was not active !
When We set the "Instant 3D" free (nonactive),
We can click at this surface which have similar shape with "8" number, click !
And, if We double click !
It was showing its dimensions as the previous.
Nah, We can click outside this area to set it free !
Then We can activate the "Instant 3D", click !
Then, We can click at this surface !
Nah, its dimensions was appears too.
So, what is the differences?
We can turn off this "Instant 3D" again !
Then double click this surface !
Please notice at the dimension arrows !
Right now, if We want to edit this dimension, We just double click the dimension value, but...
if We activate the "Instant 3D", click !
Nah, there was appears a blue point beside the dimension arrow.
So, We can edit the dimension of this hole (circle) geometry by,
click & hold the blue point that was appears.
Click & hold this blue point !
And there was appears something like a Ruler,
Or looks like a measurements bar.
So, We can drag the blue points among these measurement bar like this !
So, that's the function of "Instant 3D".
So, We don't need activate the "Modify" dialog box, We just need to click & hold the blue point, then drag it.
And adjust it until it was same with the dimension that We want.
Nah, in this case We want to edit this dimension into "40".
To get the smooth movements, just put the cursor near the measurements bar like this !
Let's say We put the cursor near the "40" like this !
And if We drag our cursor further, it will increasing the dimension amount after the coma.
So, if We just need the "40", We can put it near this bar !
After get "40", release it !
So, like this.
Ok, We can "Undo" first, "CTRL+Z" or click "Undo" over here !
So, after it was back in the initial dimension, We can click this surface again !
Now, it was showing "47,...".
And then, We want to edit this "34,79" become "40".
We can click & hold the blue point !
Click & hold, then adjust and drag it until get "40" value !
Like this !
Release !
Then "ESC" for clear these selection !
Go to the "Features" !
So, it was the "Instant 3D" functions.
So, We can edit the dimension by dragging the blue points near the dimension arrows.
Then, We can click again this one !
We can edit this dimension become "50", like this !
And then, for this one, click & hold its blue point !
Drag and adjust it became "22" !
Nah, this depth dimension was created from "Cut Extrude" feature, not from the sketch.
So, We can also edit the depth dimension value using this "Instant 3D".
"22", release !
Ok, now We already get a model like this,
We can "ESC" to set them free, or click outside this area !
And if We can see here, this holes also cut.
We can edit this "Angle (plane)".
Click this plane !
Nah, the angular dimension of this plane was appears too.
We can click & hold this blue point !
We can edit this dimension became "33" !
Ok, like this ! Release !
After We edit this angular dimensions,
We can edit the "37,5" dimension.
We can click this "Slot" surface !
Nah, We can edit this "37,5" dimension.
Edit became "30" !
Click & hold !
"30" !
Release !
Like this, then click outside the area !
We can rotate the view first !
Nah, like this !
And then, We want this depth, click !
this "out" feature depth,
have same depth with this one,
becoming "22".
We can edit this one into "22", or ...
We can set this depth to having a same depth with this surface.
To do that, We can adjust its blue point, or ...
or its "arrow".
We can click & hold its "arrow" like this !
Drag to the bottom like this !
So, beside the blue point, We can also use the arrow to adjust the dimensions value.
And then, How to make this dimension having a same depth with the target surface ?
We can press & hold "Alt" (Alto) !
Then, drag the cursor to the target surface !
Nah, like this !
It was appears something like an orange support line.
After We having the same depth with the target,
We can release the "left click" !
Then, release "Alt" like this !
Then "ESC" to set them free !
"ESC" again !
Then, We can edit this surface again !
Right click !
"Edit Feature" !
Nah, for the "End Condition : Blind", it was already changed became "19",
We can edit the "End Condition" options become "Up To Surface" !
And We can use this surface for the reference !
Then, We can click "Ok" !
So, the function of the direct editing method as the previous (the method which using arrows),
It just make the dimension value to be same with the target, not to change the "End Condition" setting directly.
If you want to change the "End Condition" settings,
We can using a manual method "Edit Feature".
Right click !
"Edit Feature" !
"Up To Surface" !
Which surfaces?
This surface !
So, to make this depth always same with this surface.
"Cancel" !
If We set this surface to be higher,
Click !
Click & hold this "Arrow" !
Nah, this left surface always following the right surface height to be have the same height.
We can set this value become "19" again !
Ok, Release !
"ESC" to clear the selections !
And then, We can "CTRL+7" !
Then, We can activate the other "Direct Editing" method.
"Live Section Plane".
We can see at this "Front Plane", "Top Plane" & "Right Plane" !
We can click this "Front Plane" !
Nah, this "Front Plane" was intersecting with this surface.
With this one, and this one too.
They was intersecting.
This, this and this one.
Right here, We will use the "Front Plane" as the "Live Section Plane" reference.
So, right now We can activate the "Live Section Plane" command first !
We can right click on the plane that We will use as the "Live Section Plane", in this case this "Front Plane" !
Then, We can use the "Live Section Plane" !
Ok, after We are creating "Live Section Plane" from the "Front Plane", there's appears new folder over here.
"Live Section Plane" folder.
We can click the small arrow beside it !
There's "Live Section Plane 1" inside the folder.
Which use "Front Plane" as the reference.
Then, We can "CTRL+8" !
By using this "Live Section Plane", We can directly edit this several lines (edges).
We can edit this depth by clicking its edge (line) right here.
We can click & hold this edge !
Then, drag it like this !
And for the bolded edges like this,
We can click & hold !
It didn't want.
So, an editable edges is just an edges which when We put our cursor on it,
it was showing a "line" icon beside our cursor.
We can click & hold this edge !
Drag until it reach "15" and release !
And if We put our cursor on this edge !
There's nothing appears beside our cursor.
So, it's meant, these edge cannot drag.
As same as with this outer edge, if We put our cursor on this outer edge !
There's nothing appears beside my cursor, so We cannot do some adjustments by drag this edge.
Try to click & hold this edge !
Nah, it is not editable edge.
Release !
And for the editable edges, is the edges that show the icon line beside your cursor when We put on it, like this.
Click & hold !
Nah, adjust become "19" !
Release !
Or this one, click & hold !
"24" !
Nah, so that's the functions of this "Live Section Plane".
And then, We can hide this "Live Section Plane 1", right click on it !
Click "Hide" !
We can "CTRL+7" !
Nah, right now We already get the model as We want.
We can save this model first, "CTRL+S" !
Ok, I think it's enough for the lessons in this video.
