hey welcome dr. mark bond and I need to
show you a couple of punch biopsies
where we only get your samples of skin
from there's a little story on that one
on your cheek how does that go
well I've been told that it's keratosis
that's been going on for years
and then in January I had surgery
because it was squamous cell cancer and
now there's one about it so we have to
check that and we're concerned about the
possibility of squamous cell and in this
instance I'm recommending a punch biopsy
because we will get a definite diagnosis
without trying to remove it because
that's going to be possibly quite an
involved surgery if it does have to be
removed okay and would be done by
somebody like dr. crowler's yes
excellent
yeah job one refer to him okay we did a
video with dr. trailer with your husband
Mark yes I try to watch it okay so we
get started with punch biopsies on both
of these lesions on the cheek and the
scalp always going from this the place
where you're working outward and the
reason for that is that way it gets the
cleanest first wipe each time and it's
going to be the cleanest part of where
as you're doing we're not going to shave
your hair off some people do when they
do procedures like this I don't it
really doesn't make any difference for
infection rates we do our best to use it
a tiny needle but the face hurts it's
very sensitive
I'll give you some soothing speech
aligning I mean I still feel on it
little it helps to just concentrate on
my breathing yeah how long you been
breathing cold in your eye the whole
time I like that answer the whole time
scalp her worst in the face a little bit
of course does that hurt
yes she's able to give the shot without
hurting to start losing sensation in
your scalp
I have an explanation for the funny gold
cuff why would I be wearing gold I nee
why here I'll show you the open your eye
what's this shirt she should tell you
should know what if I told you there's
group what if I told you there's green
print on on the shirt Oh should we sing
our alma mater ti you listen me I know I
know the hail hail hail part how does it
like part o Mark Levitt mark all three
of us went to the same high school right
that's right
Laster high school so the reason I'm
wearing it is because it's a
track-and-field shirt yes Ethan is doing
pole vault this afternoon

and we're very hopeful for how he does
in the rain today liquid sunshine look
look at my fingers find our way it sound
like balloon million and put over here
take it out and I'll also need some
suture scissors I just realize
and pickups let go yeah I go so this
will go in the one marked apex you use
different thicknesses of suture for
different parts of the body so the face
where it's very fine skin gets the six
out of the very fine suture whereas the
scalp that's a little tougher gets the
thicker suture no we will have to take
this one out sorry
so we'll see you again in oh about a
week so this suture is going through the
skin and deeper layers to hold both of
them together at once because you can do
that with just a skin is going to close
the skin and says now you can see that
when we're working on the scalp without
cutting the patient's hair which is not
necessary we do end up getting hair in
us in the knot and you know what it
heals fine when it comes to using a
round instrument to make a hole then you
have to sew up it helps to stretch the
skin and you have to stretch the skin in
the correct direction so that when you
close it up you're going to have the
line going along consistent with the
lines of skin tension or Langer's lines
anybody who wants to can just do a
Google search for Langer's lines see
what they look like and on this area of
the face you want to stretch this way
and if you do that when you let go then
you're going to have kind of an oval
going out this way from the eye so now
there's not a whole lot of stretching
going on here so I don't want to go deep
with this
just that much
I mean you'll get a little bit blood in
your eye possibly here okay so single
suture should do the job
that's sensitive there because of my eye
surgery yes are you feeling anything no
just when you were pushing on it
okay upper eyelid you're still tender
even just that much oh yeah well we
won't have to do that anymore
thank you all right so already closed
let me finish the nut and then we'll dab
that blood away I'm not having that
assistant to do it because I don't want
them getting in the way I want to get
the job done okay okay I'm going to be
touching it that's not too bad
okay first sharps over here and so
between gauze and we're going to get
some answers when we get the results of
this I mean are you okay with me posting
the results of the biopsy in the
description of the video on YouTube so
people can see it thank you thank you I
need for letting us do the procedures
and we're not hurting me I didn't really
want to take you back
we appreciate you not kicking a few of
them they wanted to kick me but mess
them so I was fun to have you and Mark
it's always fun to be with you guys and
we'll get those stitches out in about
ten days and we'll find some results
probably by Monday we'll have results
and we'll let you know before we put it
in the description of the YouTube video
