it's time for mechanics Monday, welcome to my new segment mechanic Monday, every
Monday I'll be getting back to you guys by hosting a giveaway, where I'll be giving
away tools and Auto products that I've tested out, and today's giveaway is this
1000 watt power inverter, now it might be raining outside, but that isn't going to
stop me from giving stuff away, and still explaining how things work, power
inverter does one thing, it's a transformer that changes voltage from
one to another one that you need, in this case, it takes a 12-volt power of a car
battery, and transforms it into a hundred and twenty volts, so it can run power
tools, or laptop computers, this quality unit has 220 volt receptacles, and also
two USB ports, so you can use it to charge up your phones too in a pinch, now
when you do get a power inverter, you want a good one like this, this one's
heavy, a lot of metal in it, and it has two cooling fans, one in the front and
one in the back, you got to have that so they don't overeat, because in the
process of transforming electricity different voltages, there is some heat
given off, so you got to have one that has good cooling units built into it, now
this particular one was 65 bucks, and it's a thousand watts, you also have to
realize your power usage, if you want more, you can get a 1,500 one for like 86
dollars, if you're going to use a lot of power, you get a little bit heavier one, you
don't want to buy a really cheap one and try to overuse it or it'll melt, make
sure the unit is fused, this baby has four separate fuses, it's a serious
machine, it's not just some piece of junk that's got one little fuse to do the
whole thing, which is going to blow all the time, now most guys they like portability,
so they just get one of these, use the clamps that go on the battery, then they
can use it whenever they want, and if you're doing serious long-term work,
start the car, and then guess what, your car is now
turned into a generating station, and it's making power and you can run it as
long as you want, in this case the alternator is generating 12 volts, that's
charging up the battery, then the battery send in 12 volts to the power inverter,
which can turn into 120 volts, and drive all your appliances, this thing is rated
high enough, it even runs my electric chainsaw, if you want you, could wire
permanently to the car, it has good connectors here, you just get wiring and
you'd wire negative to the negative battery terminal, and positive to the
positive battery terminal, just realize you need to use really thick gauge
wiring, because there's a lot of power in this you, could wire that right inside
the vehicle and then mount it wherever you want, but most guys, they like the
portability having a clamps, then they can take it wherever they want and
running off of any car or truck battery, and if they need a lot of time just
leave the engine running, as you can see, it's got really nice solid mounting
brackets, so you could mount it wherever you want, but me, I like the portability
of this, I can put it in any car any trip anytime I need it, just clamp it in and
away you go, so if you're looking to get a 120 volt power out of your car or truck,
now you know how an inverter works, and remember to have a chance to win these

Logic, Alessia Cara and Juanes perform onstage at the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on November 16, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Tonight at the 2018 Grammys, Logic, Khlaid, and Alessia Cara sang their suicide prevention song, "1-800-273-8255".
As they belted out the heartfelt lyrics, they were joined onstage by suicide attempt and loss survivors.
The song has been nominated for Song of the Year and Best Music Video, which you can watch below.
The singers also performed this song in August of last year at the MTV Video Music Awards.
At the end of the performance, Logic said in an emotional statement, "I just want to take a moment right now and thank you all so much for giving me a platform to talk about something that mainstream media doesn't want to talk about.
Mental health, anxiety, suicide, depression and so much more that I talk about on this album.
From racism, discrimination, sexism, domestic violence, sexual assault and so much more.
I don't give a damn if you're black, white or any color in between.
I don't care if you're Christian, you're Muslim, you're gay, you're straight, I am gonna fight for your equality because I believe that we are all born equal, but we are not treated equally and that is why we must fight.
We must fight for the equality of every man, woman and child regardless of race, religion, color, creed and sexual orientation.
So I say here and now if you believe in this message and my message of peace, love and positivity and equality for all, then I demand that you rise to your feet and applaud not only for yourselves but for the foundation we are laying for our children.".
The impact the song has had has been astounding.
John Draper, the director of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, tells CNN, "On the day the song was released, we had the second-highest call volume in the history of our service." Calls to the hotline were also reportedly up about 33% from the same time last year.

Speaking to CNN, Draper continued, "We can certainly attribute and have seen call increases relative to tragic events and alarming portrayals of suicide in the media — anywhere from (musicians) Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington's suicides, and (the Netflix show) '13 Reasons Why,' " Draper said.
"But here's what's really important: Logic is generating calls with a song about getting help and finding hope.
It's not focusing on tragedy or suicide.
In fact, he's starting conversations about suicide prevention, as opposed to suicide.".
Logic, born Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
He was born in Maryland and began exploring music as a teenager.
In 2009, he released Logic: The Mixtape.
In 2013, after releasing three more mixtapes, he signed a recording contract with Def Jam Recordings.
In 2014, he released his debut studio album, Under Pressure.
Last year, Logic released his third studio album, and it debuted at No.
1 in the US.

stop today an unplanned a little trip before we head to Far West because woke
up this morning to load my bike onto the ramp and the front tire was completely
flat and I see two puncture holes in the tires so I ran over something it's not
in there anymore probably a thorn or something got two puncture holes and so
I don't know when the next big town will be that albeit a spot I would like to
get that tire patched up so there are a couple here in Yuma I'm going to start
with the closest one and see who can get me in today that's my only plan today
dusty roads oh boy dusty bumpy roads dirt roads and everybody out here in a
darn stinkin hurry for no reason tired eating my dust can make me his
dust
okay all right cool I'm here at s ra s ra motorsports and just dropped off the
bike with the boys here they're gonna at least fix the tyre repair that up or
give me a call I'm pretty sure it can be fixed they're just tiny little thorn
punctures so should be no problem and they're gonna take off the clutch lever
and see if they have one but he already told me he doesn't think he has one for
the t W in stock so I have to pick that up later but I've got about five or six
hours to kill here in Yuma so

just inside of California it's like it's like five miles from the Motorsports
spot to the border all righty so this is the glitch in
casino off exit eight and I believe that it is a popular spot for parking and
overnighting and then possibly walking over the border there are actually a ton
the Harvey is here look at this look at this place it's like an RV park
that's a TW 200 on the back of his RV just like mine that's cool but I'm not
actually I'm gonna go a little bit closer because Carolyn's telling me that
they have RV parking right next to the border and I'm trying to walk as little
as possible I might still overnight here but let's get closer
I think we're a mile from the border I've never gone over this border
crossing guys I know I do not want to bring the RV in New Mexico it's just
getting in there might not be so bad but coming back you imagine having your
whole life inside this RV strip - searched no thank you no thank you
maybe I would take the TW in but there's no point Carolyn said there's there's
parking up here so we'll go check it out hey there's the Colorado River I think I
think this is the spot last u-turn us a
parking lot yeah let's try this guys that's not a good spot stop they could
set $8 for an RV oh they got lots of parking here though no overnight parking
close 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. hey didn't know all right there

I think there used to be gate arms right here but they both appear to be
completely sheared off and driven through okay also in a new time zone now
California time does Arizona has their own time so we're in Pacific time now
and I'm gonna park right here so that I have an easy access out in case this
place fills up how's that alright Jax although you do have all the
documentation you're gonna stay this time next time
okay okay alright well even though we are not leaving the continent just like
Canada you do need a passport in order to get
into Mexico and to get back into the United States and I have heard from
others that you cannot film the actual crossing itself so I'll share with you

official border so I'm guessing there's some turnstiles and stuff up here but no

anyone come down to Mexico what's the point of just crossing the border real

see they're advertising some of the stuff right here you can get your
inhalers huge lists of all sorts of stuff you can get
that's what I need right there Rome it Brazil and I need some high blood
pressure pharmacy Olek wheeze we'll go inside and check it out and of course
liquor jose cuervo yeah Takata is a local here I guess I don't
see any Corona not a lot of places to sit down but
here's an example I got my omeprazole this is for my heartburn I got five of
these 120 tablets in every one of them basically - year's supply of heartburn
medication for $19.95 I literally pay $23 for two weeks
over-the-counter at Walmart back in the States so that's good on the way back
god I'm also gonna get the other this one didn't have my high blood pressure
medicine but I will be able to find it before I leave I am starting to smell
some good foods down here I will say that I don't know where the food smells
are coming from I don't see them this is the penis fish and shrimp here
I do actually need a couple fillings repair to some cracked fillings not
today though just looking around everybody's trying to make a buck down
here polishing shoes there yeah all kinds of street load all this guys I got
some tips on some food but I got a low saga donas hat souvenir still looking
for a magnet for my fridge but I got Angela Los Algodones shot glass I think
it's funny it's creative handmade is never seen so many dentists and doctors
in one spot implants
and dr. Sam and it just cracks me up it's so weird I mean you can get 90% off
your prescription drugs I mean geez it's crazy

to get back into the United States - they're a little a little more strict
about getting through insurgent people's so anyway like I said I can't I can't

try to find the tribe over in California so gotta stop by and see everybody so
fun day I feel like it was not a very productive day but you know it did have

resolution have already broken it by today
I mean think about it most people don't even make a resolution anymore why
because they've made them from years and years and years and they know they're
not gonna follow through so after a while who wants to disappoint yourself
who wants to be upset with yourself why even bother to set a new standard for
this year you know it's gonna be the same as last year
so the question is you know what is it that makes us even want to make a
resolution
it goes beyond tradition it's something inside of us that makes us want to make
things better and I think part of it is the calendar gives us this idea that we
could have a fresh start that we get a start from fresh and have this great
victory let's use the calendar to serve you today let's just see what does it
really take to make this thing happen because there's no denying that inside
of you the only thing that's going to make you happy and the your head and the
decades ahead it's going to be having you up an experience where on a regular
basis you feel like your life is making progress so the secret to real happiness
is progress
progress equals we can make progress on a regular basis
we feel alive and that's why at the beginning of the year we get this thing
like okay I can have this fresh start I could really do what my soul desires I
could expand I could grow I can improve I could change or maybe better than
change I could progress
so if you want to make real progress then you really got to look at your life
in a different way you gotta say I gotta take control of this process and not
just hope that's going to work out like people do who make a resolution cuz
really isn't that what they're really doing at the beginning of the year
they're saying well here's my resolutions for the year and they really
basically tell you their wishes it's their wish list it's what they hope it
all comes together and then they call it a resolution but they don't know what a
resolution is when you resolve something true have a resolution is to resolve it
when you've resolved this is how it's going to be that's when you cut off any
possibility except the thing you've committed to
you're going to find a way to make things work and most people they're
stating what they hope will come together and if it doesn't happen then
they're disappointed but they're not too disappointed because they're not too
vested what does it take to successfully create a lasting change in your life to
not only have a new year's resolution you follow through on but really have a
lasting chain the first step for lasting change is very much like making a new
year's resolution fundamentally it's the same the first step is you've got to
have a vision a vision for what it is you really truly want
I mean what are most people's New Year's resolutions I'm gonna stop eating sugar
you know I'm gonna stop smoking I'm gonna lose ten pounds probably that is
it's not very inspiring for most people you know it's not telling you what
you're gonna get it's only what you're not gonna do it's kind of hard to have
you move forward with that a vision is about what you're here to create a
vision that really works is one that excites you
if you say well my my resolution my goal my how come for this month this week
this year is to lose X number of pounds that's okay but it's not very compelling
it has to be a compelling vision it's gotta have something has the power to
pull you not something you have to push yourself to do so the two different
kinds of motivation push requires willpower and willpower never last what
will last is pull having something so exciting so attractive so some of you
desire so much that you have a hard time going to sleep at night and get so up
early in the morning to a rocket and take it to the next level that's what
you're looking at great that wasn't easy to get
in the bottom line of our follow-through comes down to our emotional intensity
you gotta have strong enough reasons that you're going to follow through when
the going gets tough
they don't have strong enough reasons to push themselves through what's gonna be
necessary to get that dream to get that goal
when the inevitable challenges come up when you're starving hungry and you're
trying to go on a diet right when you got no time you're stressed out and you
haven't worked out still and that's what you're supposed to do when the economy
gets tight and what you thought you're going to do doesn't work and so you give
up on the goal instead of finding another way to get there you don't let
the fear take you over if you've got strong enough reasons reasons come first
answers come second if you've got a compelling vision and you got strong
enough reasons that will push you through the tough times you're gonna do
things other people don't do is that a collapsing even if you get off target
you won't go oh I blew it you'll get right back on target make the change
make things happen
you you
when you really get clear and it's compelling and you're reviewing it every
day got strong reasons you're viewing it
every day and you're feeling it the brain becomes incredibly acute at
noticing anything to get you to move forward
you know what do people do with New Year's resolution they come up with
something they kind of want it's not a compelling vision they don't really have
strong enough reasons and they never review it again and tell them notice
that they broke what they said they really want to have make happen because
they didn't really resolve
if you resolve and got the vision it's compelling we review it daily and you
feel it you envision it and you experience it simple as it sounds
now ultimately what is this really about bolts in the way if you're gonna have
lasting change in anything you're really talking about just raising your
standards
raise your standards what does that mean corny as it sounds
raise your standards well thank you for the breakthrough thought Tony
blasting change is different than involved you don't always get your goals
but you always get your standards
but when you decide something as a must for you and absolute must when you cut
off any possible you say I'm gonna find the way I'm gonna make the way human
beings when they resolve things may I make a real resolution inside themselves
which is they raise the standard and they make it a must they find the way
and you say septum work hard to stop smoking but you know
I'm gonna smoke her my whole life you know I am a smoker I know your days
are numbered you're gonna be back smoking cigarettes again because we all
act consistent with who we believe we are
I tell people the strongest force in the whole human personality is this need to
stay consistent with how we define ourselves
if you define yourself as somebody who is really conservative if you're a
really crazy person you are crazy outrageous playful you don't have
conservative because it's not who you are
very often people say well I can't do that I'm not that kind of person and I
always say to people really when did you define yourself
you're often we made decisions in our youth or very young about what to
believe about what we were capable of about who we are as a person and that
becomes the glass ceiling view well that controls us

it's time for mechanics Monday, welcome to my new segment mechanic Monday, every
Monday I'll be getting back to you guys by hosting a giveaway, where I'll be giving
away tools and Auto products that I've tested out, and today's giveaway is this
1000 watt power inverter, now it might be raining outside, but that isn't going to
stop me from giving stuff away, and still explaining how things work, power
inverter does one thing, it's a transformer that changes voltage from
one to another one that you need, in this case, it takes a 12-volt power of a car
battery, and transforms it into a hundred and twenty volts, so it can run power
tools, or laptop computers, this quality unit has 220 volt receptacles, and also
two USB ports, so you can use it to charge up your phones too in a pinch, now
when you do get a power inverter, you want a good one like this, this one's
heavy, a lot of metal in it, and it has two cooling fans, one in the front and
one in the back, you got to have that so they don't overeat, because in the
process of transforming electricity different voltages, there is some heat
given off, so you got to have one that has good cooling units built into it, now
this particular one was 65 bucks, and it's a thousand watts, you also have to
realize your power usage, if you want more, you can get a 1,500 one for like 86
dollars, if you're going to use a lot of power, you get a little bit heavier one, you
don't want to buy a really cheap one and try to overuse it or it'll melt, make
sure the unit is fused, this baby has four separate fuses, it's a serious
machine, it's not just some piece of junk that's got one little fuse to do the
whole thing, which is going to blow all the time, now most guys they like portability,
so they just get one of these, use the clamps that go on the battery, then they
can use it whenever they want, and if you're doing serious long-term work,
start the car, and then guess what, your car is now
turned into a generating station, and it's making power and you can run it as
long as you want, in this case the alternator is generating 12 volts, that's
charging up the battery, then the battery send in 12 volts to the power inverter,
which can turn into 120 volts, and drive all your appliances, this thing is rated
high enough, it even runs my electric chainsaw, if you want you, could wire
permanently to the car, it has good connectors here, you just get wiring and
you'd wire negative to the negative battery terminal, and positive to the
positive battery terminal, just realize you need to use really thick gauge
wiring, because there's a lot of power in this you, could wire that right inside
the vehicle and then mount it wherever you want, but most guys, they like the
portability having a clamps, then they can take it wherever they want and
running off of any car or truck battery, and if they need a lot of time just
leave the engine running, as you can see, it's got really nice solid mounting
brackets, so you could mount it wherever you want, but me, I like the portability
of this, I can put it in any car any trip anytime I need it, just clamp it in and
away you go, so if you're looking to get a 120 volt power out of your car or truck,
now you know how an inverter works, and remember to have a chance to win these

stop today an unplanned a little trip before we head to Far West because woke
up this morning to load my bike onto the ramp and the front tire was completely
flat and I see two puncture holes in the tires so I ran over something it's not
in there anymore probably a thorn or something got two puncture holes and so
I don't know when the next big town will be that albeit a spot I would like to
get that tire patched up so there are a couple here in Yuma I'm going to start
with the closest one and see who can get me in today that's my only plan today
dusty roads oh boy dusty bumpy roads dirt roads and everybody out here in a
darn stinkin hurry for no reason tired eating my dust can make me his
dust
okay all right cool I'm here at s ra s ra motorsports and just dropped off the
bike with the boys here they're gonna at least fix the tyre repair that up or
give me a call I'm pretty sure it can be fixed they're just tiny little thorn
punctures so should be no problem and they're gonna take off the clutch lever
and see if they have one but he already told me he doesn't think he has one for
the t W in stock so I have to pick that up later but I've got about five or six
hours to kill here in Yuma so
let's go try something crazy you guys guys ready to leave the country yeah
let's do it there we go Mexico next exit and we are
just inside of California it's like it's like five miles from the Motorsports
spot to the border all righty so this is the glitch in
casino off exit eight and I believe that it is a popular spot for parking and
overnighting and then possibly walking over the border there are actually a ton
the Harvey is here look at this look at this place it's like an RV park
that's a TW 200 on the back of his RV just like mine that's cool but I'm not
actually I'm gonna go a little bit closer because Carolyn's telling me that
they have RV parking right next to the border and I'm trying to walk as little
as possible I might still overnight here but let's get closer
I think we're a mile from the border I've never gone over this border
crossing guys I know I do not want to bring the RV in New Mexico it's just
getting in there might not be so bad but coming back you imagine having your
whole life inside this RV strip - searched no thank you no thank you
maybe I would take the TW in but there's no point Carolyn said there's there's
parking up here so we'll go check it out hey there's the Colorado River I think I
think this is the spot last u-turn us a
parking lot yeah let's try this guys that's not a good spot stop they could
set $8 for an RV oh they got lots of parking here though no overnight parking
close 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. hey didn't know all right there

I think there used to be gate arms right here but they both appear to be
completely sheared off and driven through okay also in a new time zone now
California time does Arizona has their own time so we're in Pacific time now
and I'm gonna park right here so that I have an easy access out in case this
place fills up how's that alright Jax although you do have all the
documentation you're gonna stay this time next time
okay okay alright well even though we are not leaving the continent just like
Canada you do need a passport in order to get
into Mexico and to get back into the United States and I have heard from
others that you cannot film the actual crossing itself so I'll share with you
guys as much as I can without getting in trouble and or I'll just catch you on
the other side that sign there says end of California 186 and up here is the
official border so I'm guessing there's some turnstiles and stuff up here but no
more filming I'll catch you guys later okay maybe you're wondering why would
anyone come down to Mexico what's the point of just crossing the border real
quick well there's like
cheap medical cheap dental macine cheap prescription drugs cheap eyeglasses and
exams and when I say cheap I mean even with us insurance the prices for stuff
here can be less than your copay with your insurance I definitely need some
prescriptions I want to try some food and the other really cool part about it
is you don't need to get pesos they take American cash here and American debit
and credit here in this particular city right on the other side of the border
see they're advertising some of the stuff right here you can get your
inhalers huge lists of all sorts of stuff you can get
that's what I need right there Rome it Brazil and I need some high blood
pressure pharmacy Olek wheeze we'll go inside and check it out and of course
liquor jose cuervo yeah Takata is a local here I guess I don't
see any Corona not a lot of places to sit down but
here's an example I got my omeprazole this is for my heartburn I got five of
these 120 tablets in every one of them basically - year's supply of heartburn
medication for $19.95 I literally pay $23 for two weeks
over-the-counter at Walmart back in the States so that's good on the way back
god I'm also gonna get the other this one didn't have my high blood pressure
medicine but I will be able to find it before I leave I am starting to smell
some good foods down here I will say that I don't know where the food smells
are coming from I don't see them this is the penis fish and shrimp here
I do actually need a couple fillings repair to some cracked fillings not
today though just looking around everybody's trying to make a buck down
here polishing shoes there yeah all kinds of street load all this guys I got
some tips on some food but I got a low saga donas hat souvenir still looking
for a magnet for my fridge but I got Angela Los Algodones shot glass I think
it's funny it's creative handmade is never seen so many dentists and doctors
in one spot implants
and dr. Sam and it just cracks me up it's so weird I mean you can get 90% off
your prescription drugs I mean geez it's crazy

all right well I'm pooped out got some souvenirs it's gonna be a little longer
to get back into the United States - they're a little a little more strict
about getting through insurgent people's so anyway like I said I can't I can't
film the border crossing itself so I'll cut you guys back up when I see Jax in
the RV ah the sweet smell of the USA and expensive overpriced health care dental
and medications yeah

you anything they didn't have any cat treats no I looked all right guys I'm
just in a camp here in the desert with the quiet nature and actually I'm in a
Walmart parking lot here in Yuma and this will work just fine I've already
been to all the campgrounds nearby so first thing in the mornin be heading out
on a new journey gonna meet back up with Angela tomorrow or the next day and go
try to find the tribe over in California so gotta stop by and see everybody so
fun day I feel like it was not a very productive day but you know it did have
to change things because of what happened so alright y'all have a good
