Today's topics: Presentation of the Triumph Street Triple for 2017, the end for Victory,
Rally Dakar - Stage 7-9 and more
As announced, there was a Livestream of Triumph on Tuesday.
With their announcement, they wanted to change everything.
Whether they have made it you can decide.
Here they are, the new Street Triple ...
The new Street Triple will give it in three versions if you take it exactly even in 5.
Standard is the S version.
There are also the R and RS.
In addition to the chassis, the engine was also completely redesigned.
The Street Triple will be powered by a 765 cc three-cylinder engine.
For each model there is a different power and torque curve through its own ECU.
The same is true with the rest of the equipment.
With 166 kg dry weight, the new Streety will be one of the lightest motorcycles in its
class.
The engine is based on the basis of the Daytona 675.
The bore and stroke have been increased.
Over 80 newly designed parts were installed, including new crankshafts and pistons.
Significantly more power and torque, just in the low and medium speed range is the result.
Performance: The S brings it to 113 hp at 11,250 rpm. 73 Nm are available at 9,100 tours.
The R has 118 hp at 12,000 and 77 Nm at 9,400 revs.
The top model, the Street Triple RS has 123 hp at 11,700 and 77 Nm at 10,800 tours.
The first and second gear is shorter than previously
An anti-hopping clutch is installed in the R and RS.
Depending on the model, different driving modes are available.
At the S: street and rain.
For the R: road, rain, sports and a freely programmable mode.
In the RS, the mode for the race track is added.
The TFT display can be programmed.
With the Triple S over a revised switching unit of the predecessor model.
The R and RS gets a 5 way joystick for it.
ABS can be adjusted or deactivated with the Triple R and RS, which also applies to traction
control.
The Triple RS gets a quickshifter without a blipper function.
For the S or R it is possible as a special equipment.
The differences in the chassis: The S comes with a 41mm upside down fork from
Showa.
Spring travel 110 mm.
Separate function for tension and compression.
Centralized springbase with adjustable preload and piggyback compensation tank.
The Triple R has a fully adjustable 41mm Big-Piston upside down fork from Showa.
Separate function for compression and rebound.
Spring travel 115 mm.
The central spring strut of the S-version comes also in the R.
Of course, the RS is best equipped.
The highest quality Big Piston fork from Showa is installed.
The preload, compression and rebound stages can be adjusted in each spar.
The central spring is from Öhlins.
The STX40, also with piggyback compensating tank, is installed.
In the brakes it is similar.
S version front Nissin 2-piston swimming saddles and rear Brembo single-piston swimming saddle.
R: radial Brembo M4.32 4-piston monoblock brake calipers front and rear Brembo single-piston
swimming saddle.
RS: Brembo M50 4-piston monoblock brake calipers front and single-piston swimming caliper at
the rear.
The RS also has an adjustable brake lever.
Why are there 5 models?
For smaller people there will be the Street Triple R Low, which has a lower seat height.
In order to be able to serve the A2 driving license, there will also be a Street Triple
S with 660 cc.
The price of the Triumph Street Triple 2017?
The recommended retail price for the S is 9.350 € plus ancillary costs.
For the other models, Triumph has not announced yet.
According to rumors, it would be very possible that Triumph will enter the GP Sport from
2019 and deliver the engines for the Moto-2.
The existing agreement with Honda on the delivery of the unit motors for the Moto2 will run
until 2018.
The fact that the engine has already gotten a bit old is well-known.
It is also not developed, since Honda has buried the 600cc market.
Apparently, other manufacturers had no great interest in supplying the engines.
Only MV Agusta showed interest.
As reported they are in financial difficulties.
As the Speedweek apparently experienced it will probably be a three-cylinder with 750
cc.
Such a motor could afford up to 160 hp.
Since the new engine of the Street Triple have 765 cc, this is probably taken.
Probably in revised form.
Without warning, Polaris announced the end for the motorcycle brand Victory on Monday.
Victory, manufacturer of Chopper and Cruiser, belonged to the US company Polaris.
Also Indian and e-bike manufacturer Brammo belong to it.
Reasons for the Off were not disclosed.
But you can assume that the Indian brand should be strengthened.
The spare parts supply is to be secured for another 10 years.
Warranty and service will continue to be offered.
After 18 years, Victory is history.
Stage 7 It was originally supposed to go over 322
kilometers, but the rain of the past days caused a change of plan.
161 km remained.
The navigation on the modified section turned out to be quite difficult.
Sunderland deceived and lost 3 minutes.
But he was able to hold the overall lead.
The American Ricky Brabec took the day's victory.
Stage 8 The marathon stage was over 892 km, 417 were
timed.
Joan Barreda secured the win here and took his second day's victory.
The Austrian Walkner finished second, just 4 minutes later.
Actually, the stage would have been longer, but because of rain, the race was neutralized.
Stage 9 deleted Because of the weather the 9th stage had to
be canceled completely.
There was a landslide and flooding.
The exact extent is not yet known, but the organizer of the Dakar has given help.
The rally participants were able to take a detour to the next bivouac.
However, this route is not accessible for the accompanying trucks.
