Youtube daily report Jan 14 2017

Hi, I'm Darcy and welcome back to this week's Real English video.

Today we're looking at our last set of stop consonants, [k] and [g].

Stop consonants have complete closure in the mouth that stops the air from flowing.

For [k] and [g], this closure is created by the back of the tongue touching the roof of your mouth.

[k] is voiceless which means that the vocal chords don't vibrate, but [g] is voiced meaning they do vibrate.

Here are a few words that differ only in these two sounds:

And here's a tongue twister to help you practice these sounds:

Give that one a try and see how it goes for next week.

Good luck and see you next Friday.

Reflection of Top 10 Books I Want to Read in 2016! [CC] - Duration: 4:26.

Hey everyone, my name is Kylie and this is

Miss Kyle Reads and do we all remember that

video that I made at the beginning of

2016 talking about ten books that I

wanted to read in 2016?

Well I was doing pretty good with making

updates for the first half of the year

and then I just quit making update

videos about that because I didn't think

they were going to be that interesting

but I thought I wanted to wrap it up at

the end of the year and now it's 2017

so what better time to do that?

So I'm not going to really go in depth

about these books, I'm just going to

basically hold them up and tell you

whether I read them or not or I have any

interest in completing them because

obviously 2016 is over so I can't really

complete them in 2016 anymore. The first

book that was on that list was the

Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison and I

started to read this book. I gave it 50

pages and I couldn't do it anymore. I had

to DNF this one because I just

couldn't do it. I got fifty pages in and

the writing style was just not my thing.

They used I instead of we for things and

I just didn't understand that and there

was a lot of thou and oh I just..I just

can't do that. The next books were the

Wise Man's Fear and the Slow Regard of

Silent Things by Patrick Rothfuss and

this is the second book in the King Killer

Chronicles and also the novella in the

King Killer Chronicle world and I read this

book, I did. I read it in June and I also

read the novella in June so mark that

off the list. Oh next is the Wheel of

Time series with the Great Hunt and I

wanted to read two books in the Wheel of

Time series in 2016 and I read zero

books in the Wheel of Time in 2016.

I got 150 pages into

this one and I just kept putting it down

to read other books.

It just wasn't holding my interest but I

have been thinking about it a lot

recently

so maybe I don't know, maybe 2017 will be

my Wheel of Time year.

I don't know. The next books on my list

were a Song of Ice and Fire by George RR

Martin. This is that beautiful

pocket-sized edition box set, I love it. I

had three books remaining in a Song of

Ice and Fire to read this year and I did

it. I read them all on audiobook and I

kind of followed along with a Storm of

Swords, a Feast for Crows and a Dance

With Dragons

and then I completed it and it just

makes me feel really good.

Next one on my list is so shameful

because it is Fool Moon by Jim Butcher

the second book in the Dresden Files

series. Look at this tiny little urban

fantasy. I couldn't finish it. I read 30

pages of this and it was during my slump

after reading the Black Prism by Brent

Weeks and I just couldn't do it. I have

heard that this series is so great but

you have to get past the first like

three or four books so this one's still

on the list to read. The next one on my

list was Firefight by Brandon Sanderson

and I now own the last book as well,

Calamity, so I can read them both now.

But Firefight is the second book in the

Reckoners trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

which is his young adult trilogy and I

do not enjoy it as much as his adult novels. I'm

sure that I will enjoy it on some level

when I read it but I have yet to do that.

I know, I know. The next one I have

absolutely no interest in reading the

rest of the series and that is Cinder by

Marissa Meyer. I read this book four or

five years ago and I just have no

interest in reading the rest of the

series anymore.

The next one I have completed is Armada by

Ernest Cline and this is a standalone

and it was not as good as Ready Player

One, let me just tell you that. But still

enjoyable if you don't have high

expectations. The next one was to read

the Throne of Glass series and I did

read Queen of Shadows this year which

I'm pretty happy about but when Empire of

Storms came out, I just really had no

inclination to pick that one up and read

it so I haven't yet and I haven't really

heard good things

so. And the last things I kind of wanted

to read in 2016 were the Heroes of

Olympus series by Rick Riordan and the Lost

Hero was the only one that I owned and

it's the only one that I read and I

don't feel like buying the rest of the

series because I kind of have lost

interest in it. Alright everyone, I hope you

enjoyed this quick video about wrapping

up that video that I made about the top

ten books that I wanted to read in 2016.

I don't think I'm going to make a video

about the top ten books I want to read

in 2017 just because my tastes change so

much throughout the year that I don't

want to kind of limit myself to these

ten books, do you know what I'm saying?

Not that I really listened to myself on

this list at all, but hey.

Give this video a big thumbs up if you

enjoyed it and comment down below. Until

next time, goodbye!
