Here are the dumbest things millennials have done!
#9 - The Twin Towers Costume
Let's start this video off with some insensitive costumes.
How about the girls who dressed up as the twin towers?
In 2013, British students Annie Collinge and Amber Langford decided to enter a costume
contest at a nightclub in Chester.
They chose to dress up as the twin towers...on fire.
This pissed off Americans and people all around the globe for a good reason.
Thousands of people died during the 9/11 attacks that set in motion a series of events that
changed the world for the worst.
The students, who were both only 19 at the time, apologized for the incident, saying
they actually meant no offense.
"The idea was to depict a serious, modern day horror that happened in our lifetime,
and was not intended as a joke."
Which is good, because no one found it funny.
While they may not have meant to upset people, their costumes drew plenty of outrage from
a lot of people.
#8 - UVA student vs North Korea
Otto Warmbier, a student at the University of Virginia, was arrested in North Korea for
allegedly trying to steal a political poster.
While in most places on earth, this might result in a small fine and a sharp reprimand,
North Korea is the LAST PLACE ON EARTH TO F*CK AROUND.
They sentenced the 21-year old to 15 years of hard labor in January of 2015.
Now part of this, or rather all of it, is purely political.
The U.S and North Korea have been enemies since the 50's and North Korea continues
to isolate themselves from the rest of the world thanks to their nuclear program.
Warmbier, like other Americans, had been advised to not travel to North Korea as they have
been known to detain Americans on bogus charges for the sake of negotiating leverage.
Warmbier went with a group of Chinese tourists to the isolated country.
Still, little progress has been made, but people are holding out hope.
In November of 2014, Kenneth Bay and Matthew Todd Miller, both Americans who were detained
in North Korea, were released after the Obama administration was able to use intelligence
officials to negotiate their release.
While Warmbier may have used poor judgment in his actions, this prisons sentence is definitely
still not fair.
Hopefully he can get out.
#7 - A Rooftop Disaster
Sometimes a simple mistake can be deadly.
In the case of a 17-year old Russian named Andrey, taking a selfie on top of a nine story
building turned out to be one of those deadly mistakes.
He and his friends had a knack for posing on rooftops to post photos on Instagram.
Apparently he would tie a rope to his waist to make it appear as though he was falling
over the edge.
One fateful day, as he was doing this, the roped snapped, and Andrey fell nine stories
to his death.
Even though some bushes underneath the building broke his fall and initially prevented his
death, he passed away soon after being rushed to the hospital.
While his friends often tried to warn him of the dangers of his hobby, he was apparently
quite the daredevil.
Sadly it ultimately cost him his life.
#6 - Mr. YouTube
Teenagers do lots of dumb stuff with their cars, no surprise there.
But in 2014, 18 year old Robert Kelly went on a road rage.
For some unknown reason, he was filming himself driving when he caused a wreck.
This genius drove through a red light, smashed into four cars and badly injuring himself
and three other people.
In fact he needed to be airlifted to the hospital.
Here's the dumbest part.
He actually posted the footage of the wreck to YouTube….from his hospital bed.
I'm not sure what he thought would happen, but police aren't deaf, blind, and dumb.
They quickly saw the footage, connected the few dots that needed connecting and arrested
the kid.
Though they did wait a few days until he recovered from his injuries.
The video, which includes some editing and techno background music provided enough evidence
for cops to charge him with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, reckless driving
and driving without a license.
Smart kid.
#5 - The Raccoon Selfie
Jack Gangwish was a defensive End for the Nebraska Cornhuskers in 2014, a rough season
for his team who went 9-4 and lost in the Holiday Bowl to USC.
But Gangwish had his own misadventure off the field.
One night, while driving along a secluded road in Nebraska, he noticed a raccoon on
the side of the road.
Since they're known to sometimes carry rabies, most people have the sense to avoid them.
Gangwish however, thought it would be okay to take a selfie with a wild animal, an incident
Gangwish later himself described as a "raccoon selfie gone wrong."
Have you ever heard of a raccoon selfie gone right?
The raccoon, who was just minding his own business, didn't want to pose for the picture,
so he bit the guy.
Now here's the part that'll probably blow your mind.
Our friend Jack here, though severely lacking in common sense department, was at least smart
enough to know the animal needed to be tested for rabies.
So he grabbed a crescent wrench from his truck and clubbed it to death.
"It was death by crescent wrench" he said.
Authorities tested the raccoon for rabies, and apparently Gangwish is fine...at least
when it comes to rabies.
Sigh.
#4 - The Selfie With a Squirrel
What is it with millennials and selfies?!
Brian Genest paid a visit to John Chestnut Park in Tampa Florida.
He saw a squirrel just kind of hanging out on the rail of a boardwalk.
So the thought to himself "Hey, I'll just take a selfie."
That turned out to be a bad idea.
As he approached the squirrel with his phone drawn, he made clicking noises, so the squirrel
tried to swipe the phone away.
Genest eventually got a pretty good selfie with the squirrel, but then things went wrong.
The Squirrel pounced on the back of Genest's shirt, crawling all over his back, and even
inside his shirt.
As he flailed and tried to fend off the squirrel, his mother snapped photos of the incident….not
very helpful MOM!
Brian wasn't hurt, and neither was the squirrel, and the photos went viral.
Local news crews from his home town in Maine interviewed him, and he seemed to be a pretty
good sport about the whole thing.
"He was probably mad that I was gonna take that photo and he wasn't gonna get any credit"
he joked.
So the young fella got a good laugh and learned a valuable lesson.
Respect nature, ya millennials!
#3 - The Graffiti Artists
Two young Germans received a bizarre sentence when they were caught defacing a Singapore
Train.
22 year old Andreas Von Knorre and 21 year old Elton Hinz were both sentenced to nine
months in a Singapore Prison as well as a caning.
The two youngsters supposedly broke into a train depot, spray painted a train car, then
fled the country.
On the criminal spectrum, these guys probably come nowhere close to someone such as say,
Al Capone, but Singapore officials launched an international manhunt for them, and tracked
the guys down in Malaysia.
They were sentenced to nine months in prison and three strokes of the cane.
Singapore has been known for their brutal use of this cruel and unusual form of punishment.
It involves stripping the prisoner, strapping them to a board and beating them with a wooden
cane.
This barbaric practice became the subject of international intrigue in 1994, when an
American youth named Michael Fay was caned.
He had been accused of damaging public property, which included several cars.
Even President Bill Clinton tried on hs behalf to grant him a reprieve, but to no avail.
#2 - Nazi Costume Party
While folks today don't agree on much, most can rally behind the idea that Nazis were
at best, a bunch of a**holes.
So when these taiwanese kids decided to have a little Nazi costume party, well they found
themselves a spot on our list.
This story takes place in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, at a private school.
Apparently they were either unaware of of the cultural impact that Nazi symbols still
have 70 years after the fall of the third reich, or they just gave zero f**ks, but they
thought it would be cute to throw a Nazi Costume Party.
These kids went ALL OUT.
They got full costumes, and someone even made a cardboard tank.
Photos surfaced of the youngsters doing the Nazi salute, so they at least had some basic
knowledge of Nazism.
While it appears the whole thing was meant to be a joke, virtually no one found it funny.
The school later apologized, though it's not clear, what, if any action will be taken
against these students.
The principal did later resign for the students actions though.
#1 - The Teenage Runaways and Stowaways
Kids run away from home fairly often.
Usually it's a feeble attempt to rebel against mom and dad, and they end up not far from
home.
But there is the occasional exception.
Like this kid in China, who ended up hiding in the cargo hold of an airplane, and made
it all the way to Dubai before being caught.
While officials didn't release his identity, they said he was a 16 year old with the last
name Xu.
He supposedly decided to run away, because he heard he could make a bunch of money begging
on the streets of Dubai.
Maybe he was unaware of the dangers associated with riding in the cargo hull, or maybe he
came from a really messed up situation, but he essentially risked death making this ill
advised journey.
The flight lasted eight and a half, and by some small miracle, the boy wasn't even
hurt.
And this guy isn't alone!
Other youngsters have pulled similar stunts.
In 2014, a video surfaced of a kid jumping out of a wheel well of a Boeing 767.
The footage comes to us courtesy of a surveillance video at Kahului Airport in Hawaii.
The guy you see jumping out of a freaking wheel well in this video is 15-year old Yahya
Abdi, who was trying to get to Somalia to see his mother, but wasn't quite sure which
planes were going where.
Amazingly he survived a grueling five hour journey and subzero temperatures from California,.
However, others haven't been so lucky.
Hundreds have attempted what these guys have done over the years, and the majority them
have lost their lives.
Dating back to 1946, the U.S Federal Aviation has reported that out of the 103 such attempts,
about 77 percent of them have been fatal.
Most recently, an unidentified teenager's body was found on November 30, 2016 on an
Airbus A330 in South Africa.
While kids usually make such daring attempts in order to escape tough situations, the risk
isn't worth it.
Most stowaways die, and many others end up in serious trouble and often times end up
spending quite a bit of time in the hospital.
Here's what's next!
