Why Apple Pie Isn't American - Duration: 3:09.Hi, this is Kate from MinuteEarth. A lot of people use the phrase "As American as Apple
Pie" to mean "really, really American." But... the apples in apple pie were domesticated
in Kazakhstan, and pollinated by bees native to Europe, the flour and butter came from
wheat and cows domesticated in the Middle East, the egg came from the chicken which
came first...from the jungles of Asia, where the lemon also originated, the cinnamon came
from China, the nutmeg was domesticated in New Guinea, and so was the sugar, unless it
was from sugarbeets, which are from Poland. In fact, none of the ingredients in apple
pie are originally from the US.
And you might not be surprised to hear that the ingredients for Italian pizza didn't
originate in Italy, either. And Asia's spicy dishes, from India's curries all the way
to Korea's kimchis, owe their heat to chillies domesticated in Central America… which got
the rice for its rice and beans from Asia.
In fact, on average, over two thirds of the calories consumed in each of the world's
countries come from crops or animals domesticated far away. Take a look at this chart showing
how every single region of the world depends on food domesticated in other regions.
Our interconnectedness is kind of overwhelming… and it exists because over time, colonialism,
trade, and other forces of globalization have led the entire world to become more and more
dependent on a particular, small set of plants and animals.
But ⅔ is just an average. Countries vary widely in how much of their food originated
elsewhere, and it pretty much boils down to whether they happen to be located in one of
the places most of these globally-important plants and animals were domesticated - typically
warm, biodiverse regions where humans have lived for a long time. Southeast Asia, for
example, is home to important foods like rice, sugar, coconuts, and bananas, so countries
like Cambodia and Thailand get only a quarter of their calories from foods domesticated
elsewhere. Meanwhile, Southern Africa and Northern America are each home to almost no
globally significant foods, so Zambia & South Africa and Canada & the US all get over 90%
of their calories from foods with foreign ancestries. Of course, those countries do
grow their own food - it just originated elsewhere.
But all this movement of ingredients doesn't mean that kimchi isn't Korean, or pizza
isn't Italian. I mean, we humans also originated in one place before spreading around the world.
Yet today, most of us identify ourselves, and the dishes we eat, with the places we've
ended up. We say we're Italian, or Indian, or American... as American, perhaps, as apple
pie.
Hey! Don't go anywhere! We have lots of exciting news! For all you fans of food out there,

WWE Stars Return! MAJOR Smackdown News Leaked!? | WrestleTalk News May 2017 - Duration: 5:25.Hello and welcome to the WrestleTalk News!
I'm Oli Davis, and yes, I am wearing Nia Jax's I'm Not Like Most Girls t-shirt.
I lost both the predictions and fantasy booking warfare competitions on last month's WrestleRambles,
and this is my forfeit.
For full gimmick, here's a close up of me doing Nia Jax's shifty eyes.
Triple H has now confirmed on Twitter that WWE's long-reported Women's Tournament
is actually happening, along with the competition's name: The Mae Young Classic.
"A tournament with top female talent from around the world is the next stage of the
Womens Evolution in @WWE...July 13/14th from @FullSail."
Dave Meltzer has pointed out on Twitter the 32-woman tournament is most likely so named
because Mae Young, who passed away in 2014, and Stephanie McMahon were very close - which
is probably why the competition wasn't rightfully named the Eva Marie Cup.
WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has confirmed reports from last week that he'll be on the tournament's
commentary team.
And an equally momentous equality moment might soon be taking place on the main WWE roster.
Pro Wrestling Sheet are reporting that WWE officials are planning the first ever women's
Money in the Bank ladder match at next month's Smackdown-exclusive pay-per-view.
This comes after last October's first ever women's Hell in a Cell match, which was
also the first time a WWE pay-per-view was main evented by the ladies.
If all goes according to plan, the 18th June pay-per-view will have two Money in the Bank
matches - one for both the female and male genders.
Which is a great step forward in equality, but a long way from catering for the 48 other
gender identities listed on Facebook.
When, oh when, will we get a Two-Spirit Person Money in the Bank match?
Get outta the 80s, WWE. Shane McMahon announced on this week's Smackdown
that Carmella, Natalya, Tamina, Charlotte and Becky Lynch will compete in a No. 1 contenders
match for Naomi's Women's Title on next Tuesday's show.
It's expected the winner will go onto face Naomi at Money in the Bank, while the other
four women will be involved in the high-stakes ladder match.
And potentially James Ellsworth.
In all seriousness, to boost those numbers, we might finally see Summer Rae return to
WWE television - jumping ship from Raw - who has been cleared to return since before Wrestlemania.
After being out of action since February with a knee injury, Cedric Alexander made his return
on last night's episode of 205 Live, defeating Johnny Moon - hopefully starting his conquest
to regain 205 Live's mid-card title Alicia Fox.
And after 205 Live, The New Day made their long-awaited return to WWE TV, being the opening
guests on Talking Smack.
Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods haven't been seen since the Superstar Shake-Up, where
The Revival wrote Kingston off TV so he could undergo minor ankle surgery.
Going by his Instagram posts, Kofi appears ready to return soon, which is probably why
The New Day teased matches with The Usos, Breezeango and American Alpha on Talking Smack.
They also took issue with JBL calling The Usos the best team of the past half-decade
- saying that Bradshaw shouldn't be allowed to say whatever he wants, a possible dig at
the recent allegations of bullying against the Smackdown commentator.
Raw has continued its downward ratings trend, setting its latest non-holiday, non-football
season record low, drawing just 2.61 million viewers this week.
As F4WOnline points out, this is a 20% decline from the same time last year.
62% of your ratings thought the show was AvRAWge, while both Poor and Cor were tied at 16%.
As I mentioned a week ago, I've got plans for WrestleTalk.
Big plans!
Plans to bring WrestleRamble's terrific Luke Owen, and his ridiculous amount of bad
wrestling knowledge, onboard.

J || BY Stay Fitand Travel ||Abs & Full Body Fat Blaster Gym Workout - Duration: 7:01.[Music]
welcome to stay fit and travel with Amy
today I'm going to show you a bit of
what I do at the gym with ways of our
equipment we will change our ABS some
upper body and also links I'll also show
you my warm-up routine so if I only
close my 10 minute workout at home at
Lake booty full body hit workout by
actually loving it at a gym as well with
weight training it definitely helped me
a lot in reaching my fitness goals of
having the fit and toned body that's
being and strong okay question time why
do I live weight is in cardio and body
weight in us we'll weight lifting make
me gain weight will it make me bulky and
muscular doesn't cardio already do the
work for weight loss I know that a lot
of girls are scared that lifting ways
we're just working in general what make
them fall key and muscular and make that
bigger okay answer questions first do
you know that weight lifting can
actually burn more calories in the long
term during the exercise cardio will
burn more calories that's correct
but weight training will keep the breath
going for longer basically if you
incorporate with this part of your
regular workout training or increase
your muscles calorie burning and hence
fat burning capacity and girl antonius
actually very difficult to get so far
PMS killer all those female bodybuilders
or considers that you see they couldn't
insane amount of hours into training
every single day they live very heavy
weight all follow a very specifically
designed workout program and the diet is
also very carefully planned in order to
achieve their goal to be so strong in
let's go so unless you eat like that and
train like that it's actually very
difficult for the rest of us to get to
that through all key and muscular figure
another reason I do weight training it's
not just for my look I talked about in
my previous videos before I'll link it
up here that I was so unfit and weak
when I first started this finish journey
I couldn't do a sit-up into a push-up I
didn't roll was what was didn't even
know how to put a barbell together let
alone lifting one it is
Homerville to go to the gym as a whole
and a weight training area which is
intimidating as hell to me I was like
dude I don't belong there something like
a handset or a straight pull of these
are things I never imagined I could ever
do they never even crossed my mind but
right now I'm just so thankful that I
found a workout routine both at home and
also at the gym that allowed me to work
towards these goals and to achieve
things that I never thought my body
would be able to do enough of me talking
let's say a change and go to the gym I
actually do my workouts in a
constitution this is where most of my
workout videos you see on my Instagram
are ticket it's not a conventional gym
so actually you don't see a lot of
descendant machines here is a short tour
of what my conception looks like and you
will know what equipment I mainly use in
my workout first I get my gear ready I
wear knee compression sleeves to reduce
injuries to the knee joint especially
when lifting weights I also wear wrist
wraps to protect my wrist
everything ready drink some water and
let's warm up to get my heart rate up
and the blood flowing I normally do
three minutes of rope skipping
alternating between 30 seconds of
singles and 30 seconds of suppose or
sometimes to change things up I would do
rowing instead it's a great cardio
option that was the entire body to burn
calories and then warm up my joints and
muscles I would start with some enjoyed
stretch down walk your hands forward
until your chances on the floor then
push back up to a downward-facing dog
and walk your feet towards your hands
next one is lunches here I normally add
a twist to excite to warm up the core
muscles as well the last one is very
called get down to all fours
then call forward by moving your right
arm and right leg together and then the
left it really helps to warm up your
shoulders and hips then I move on and
shoulder spend this okay it helps
improve your shoulders mobility and
shame now I'm ready for my ass workout
one of my favorite is barbell leg raises
that works for the upper and lower apps
basically you lie on the floor holding
five above chest and slowly raise legs
until they're straight up overhead
and not the one that I do is barbell a
prologue you start a kneeling position
then roll the barbell straight forward
the key here is to keep the core tight
and not to arch your back
the final app workout that I want to
show you is the GHG setup note that this
is an advanced exercise because it takes
relatively more strength of your F to
lift your whole body up from this latch
range of motion while also also an
exercise that I love because it really
helps through your core strength and
show the facility
[Music]
being able to do pull-ups helping
Michael for a while now so I keep
practicing consistently and for those of
you who also want to get a pull-up you
can first train with a fence or by doing
brain rolls to strengthen your let's
invite them I always finish my workout
with a set of high intensity training
that lasts for 12 to 20 minutes and
consists of a few exercises and this is
what I'm doing today I'm doing a total
of three rounds each starting with 10
fathoms over a fire functions
intimidating you can do step up since
then
[Music]
and then I do 10 that list you can do it
with a heavier weight and drop to 5 or a
lighter weight but touch and gold
[Music]
another easy a variation is to do it
with dumbbells after that I do 10
weighted walk holding a dumbbell and
then I complete the round with five toes
to bar which is another great exercise
for the app here you can also choose to
do knee raises as an EPO variation I
would repeat this for another two rounds
making a total of three and that's
pretty much what I want to show you in
this video I hope you liked this video
give me a thumbs up and comment down
below what other videos you would like
to watch from this channel after you
guys this week

Pack with me Special EXORDIUM Dot in Seoul - Duration: 15:42.Hello everyone!
So today, as promised I'm recording this video for those who asked me what do I bring with me for concerts
I told you I would do it so here I am!
So, what stuff do I bring with me? Here we go for the survival guide!
Obviously
the official Lightstick!
A must!
Plan bringing more batteries (3 AAA) for the lightstick
so it won't turn off in the middle of the concert like what happened to me last year
So bring more batterie than neccessary it can be useful
this lightstick is a battery eater even turned off so take off the batteries when not used and put them only in 10-20 minutes before the show
My official jersey from the merchandising
BAEKHYUN!!!!
I personnaly can't go to a concert without this kind of official goddies
Bring with you a ticket holder (where you can put your money inside too)
This one is the ticket holder provided last year by SM for Global package participants
For others, just bring one with you to put your ticket, money and papers
Obviously you should not loose your ticket so keep it in a safe place
because is the worst and the most stressful thing
as if going overseas for a concert where nobody understands you ins't stressful enough xD
Watch your ticket!
Bring a water bottle for the concert
Last year I didn't have one for the first day and it was really hard
bring with you a water bottle unless you do the Global Package,
SM provides an iced water bottle for the 1rst concert so bringing a second one would be useless
If you are in standing at the front row
you won't need a bottle neither, staff will give you a glass of water when you ask them (gesture)
they give you plastic glasses for at least the 10 first rows in the pit
Keep in mind that an EXO concert is equivalent to a marathon
You have to keep up!
Personally last year out of three concerts I wore heels for two shows (around 11cm)
I went to the last one with sneakers because I was dead tired and I had a good spot at first row
As I'm already taller than most of Kfans in the pit I didn't need to wear heels
here are the monsters :)
(I do most of my standing concerts with heels it is more convenient for me
but it depends on your motivation and if you can handle the pain for at least 5-6 hours in a row without seating )
I don't know if I will wear them this year because all the venue will be seated in the stadium
so first I'll ask the staff if we are allowed to stand up during the concert, if so I most prolly wear my high heels
A lifesavior :)
POWER BANKS!!
for those who want to take some pictures and videos during the show it is an absolute need!
Be carefull staff in Korea is strict about taking pictures and videos,
it is prohibited, if they catch you, you will be told to leave the venue (and they will delete your data!!!)
I personnaly always bring powerbanks to concerts (because I use my battery really quickly :( )
I bring some slogans (Baekhyun slogans) easy to carry and a plus to be noticed
I bring two different slogans this year
the second one :)
I also bring fans because it's HOT in Korea (you don't say)
a second one for this too
If you follow me on Twitter you must have seen picture of what I prepared for the concert
It's my first attempt and I'm quite satisfied with the result
Bringing handmade goods with your bias picture makes you more easy to spot in the crowd
I also bring gifts for the members but I won't show them in the video
for the gifts, bring small goods so the staff won't take it away when you enter
Last year I brang a small plancard (A4) but for standing pit I do not think it is convenient
for seating it's okay though
I didn't bring less stuff but it's less bulky
About bags, be careful
last year I brang a backpack but it was too big for standing areas so the staff told me I couldn't enter the venue
I had to bring my backpack to the baggage room, it was really stressful
Plan bringing money, baggage room was around 2.000 W (less than 2$)
bring around 10.000W (10$) to buy some snacks and beverages before the show
Last year I lost around 10-15 minutes because my bag was too big
so be careful and ask the staff if you can beforehand
So this year as it is a seating show I will ask the staff
but I bring two different bags (and I'll see at the hotel)
A tote bag
(the small one is okay but I'd prefer bringing a bigger bag )
and a larger one (given by SM last year for The EXOR'DIUM in Seoul Global Package)
this one is more convenient for me because it is large enough for all the stuff I want to bring
If you want to buy slogans and cheering kits to fansites,
be careful not to buy too much especially if you do the Global Package
(Global Packages are tight sheduled so you can't waste your time!!)
so only buy a few (1-2)
Last year I bough 7-8 of them and it was a real mess, I had to run to pick up my stuff and it was really stressful
For freebie, bring with you some photocards (in a box/album) to show the fans
I obviously bring Baekhyun's photocards
Check if you have wifi too, some fans request to see your Twitter fan account
or to show them you are following their account or that you RTed the notice
(they state on their twitter notice what you should bring/show them it can also be official goods like a fan...)
so check your wifi connexion
I'm bringing dolls with me for the trip, to film my vlog etc but I'm not sure abt bringing it inside the venue
I already have a lot of things inside my bag so it will just anoy me I don't want to bring it and leave it inside my bag
If you want to take pic/videos, empty your phone storage to be sure you can record as much as you want
(BE CAREFUL WITH THE STAFF INSIDE THE VENUE)
A little piece of advice for Global Package participants,
bring stickers and pens because, normally you'll be given papers to write letters to EXO
so make sure your letter pretty and paste stickers on it !
For fanchants
Be sure you are on point! We know it is really important for Kpop groups especially for concerts in Korea (it can be recorded)
To memorize them you can look on the internet for guides (lyrics+fanchant)
but I do not like this
I prefer listening several times to live performances (from MCD, Music bank...) or concerts fancams.
I advice you to download those in MP3 and to listen to them before the show so you will know them by heart
Something I saw when I went to the concert last year in Korea,
useful for girls with bangs covering their forehead
Korean fans use kind of curlers so their bangs won't disturb them during the concert
they also use Cool Patches to cool down their temperature,
they put it on their forehead, back, cleevage even cheeks
You can find these stuff on Amazon but I do not buy the personnally
last year instead of buying this, I brang a hand towel from the hotel and it was enough for me
A tip for GP participant:
Make sure you have empty space in your suitcase
well it depends on how much MD you will buy (freebies and cheering kits included) and what kind of Glabl Package you bought
but last year I had a hard time closing my suitcases because of all the gifts and MD I bought
(both of my suitcases were overweighted for the plane)
Prepare your voice and body, sleep well not to be too tired
don't forget to to eat and drink to avoid fainting durring the concert, sugar is mandatory
that's it!
I hope this video was usefull, if you have any question/request leave a comment or contact me on twitter/curious cat @Moonsta04
Thank you for watching see you next time and have fun at the concert!
