This morning -- snow was
covering the streets in Girard.
Our Morning Show stayed on the
air for 2 and a half hours to
bring you the weather
conditions, and school closing
delays.
Many people were driving slow
today.
And tonight many drivers are
still on alert as rain and
colder temperatures are
expected to move in.
27 First News Reporter Tyler
Trill is live to show us how

You can see the roads are still
a bit wet, but most of that
early morning slush is gone.
Drivers saying they had little
issues with the roads this
morning and afternoon, but
they will be concerned if the
temperature drops.
Drivers in Youngstown and Girard
met snowy and slushy roads
during their early
morning commute----forcing folks
to use their snow blowers and
snow
plows. During the late morning
to mid
afternoon, drivers on route 46
Austintown weren't seeing snowy
streets, but instead
wet roads. Large trucks created
clouds of mist as the drove on
the rain covered highway. People
on the road saying they hope the
temperature doesn't drop anytime
soon.
well if it freezes, we're gonna
be in trouble. There will be a
lot of pileups. Let's hope it
doesn't freeze.
if it gets colder, we'll have
problem, all the slush will
turn to ice
Wet and slush roads can also
create issues for truck
drivers.
TDDS Technical Institute Safety
and Training Director Larry
Braham says stopping
and seeing is hard enough with
slick roads, but it can be
especially hard when
you have a 60 foot long vehicle
that is carrying thousands of
pounds of materials.
well, visibility is down for
everybody. And it's bad for us
and the people we pass on the
highway. We throw up a big
spray. When we throw a spray up,
we can't see any better
than they can. [D6]20170110 WX

Braham says the best reminder
when driving near big trucks is
be cautious and be
careful when passing. Also, a
good reminder. When you the sign
posted on a truck "if
you can't see my mirrors, I
can't see you" that is true.
Truck drivers have large
blind spots. [D8]CATCH 6PM MAIN
