Hi, it's Maija here, with my Friday Reads. This
week I'm taking part in the Diverseathon
readathon. I didn't have a chance to post
a TBR video, but I did post my TBR on
Twitter. And I have already finished one
book for this read-a-thon, and that was
Borderline by Mishell Baker. And this is
an urban fantasy book with a main character
who has borderline personality disorder,
and that part of the book is Own
Voices, since the author herself has the same
disorder. But the main character is also
paraplegic, she is a double amputee
after a failed suicide attempt. Her name
is Millie and she's recruited into this
organization that handles the travel
between Hollywood and Faerie. And Milly and
her partner have to find a missing fey who
was supposed to return to Faerie, but now no
one knows where he is. And I found this to
be a good read, I will talk more about it
in my January Wrap Up. And then I started
another book that I've wanted to read for a
while, that I borrowed from the library a
while ago, and that was Ninefox Gambit
by Yoon Ha Lee, which is a science fiction
story about which I have heard nothing
but good things. And I really want to
read this soon so that I can see if I
want to nominate it for the Hugo awards. And
I think this is about a soldier who gets
another consciousness planted in her head,
and that's about everything I know. I've only
read one and a half chapters so far, and so
far it is really, really interesting. I am
reading this together with Kaitlyn and
Paul from KittyG and A Common Touch of
Fantasy, even though both of them have
already finished this book, since they
started on Monday and I just started it...
but I'm still sort of reading it with
them. So far, like I said, it's really
interesting, I can't wait to see where this goes.
I'm also currently reading for the
Diverseathon a book that I've been
reading for quite a long while, ever since
last summer. It is the Queers Destroy
Fantasy! ebook, which was part of the Queers
Destroy Science Fiction! Kickstarter
project. I am reading the final short
story that I still have left to read from
the anthology, which has short stories
and nonfiction from different authors.
And after I finish the short story, I
still have all the nonfiction left to read,
and I hope I can get that done during
Diverseathon. So this is what I'm
currently reading. Are you taking part in
Diverseathon, if so, what are you currently reading?
And that's all from me for now, I will
see you in my next video, bye for now!
