Youtube daily report Jan 27 2017

Robert: 2007 was the first time that we...

Cornel: We started the other day.

Robert: ...we taught together.

Next year will be our 10th anniversary, my brother.

Cornel: Now, when Andrew brought us together, was that 2006, you think?

Robert: Yeah, it must have been 2006.

Cornel: When we first had that dialogue.

Robert: Andrew Perlmutter was a student in the religion department.

He had worked with you in one or two of your courses.

He had one or two of my courses and he was starting a new magazine, the campus magazine.

Cornel: Green Light.

Robert: The Green Light.

Cornel: It came from F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The Great Gatsby.

Robert: I think that's right.

Yeah, I think that's very appropriate for Princeton.

Cornel: Yes, yes.

Robert: One of the features of the magazine was going to be an interview of one professor

by another professor.

And so for the inaugural issue, they invited you to be the interviewer and they gave you

the right to pick who your interview subject would be.

And you did me the...

We didn't even know each other very well.

You gave me the honor of picking me as your interview subject.

I remember Andrew coming knocking on the door and saying, "Professor George, would you be

willing to be interviewed by Professor West?"

Of course I said, "Well, I'd be very honored to be interviewed by Professor West."

I remember the occasion when you came together with Andrew, he had a tape recorder.

One of his old-fashioned cassette recorders that would be an antique today.

He had a photographer with him.

I think we were supposed to talk for an hour, and we ended up talking for four hours.

And then I said, "I have to go have dinner.

My wife Cindy's going to be waiting for me, wondering what happened to me".

You walked me down to my car where I held my hand on the car latch for about another

half hour.

Cornel: We had another 30-minute dialogue.

We kept going at it.

Robert: While we kept going at it.

Cornel: I remember.

I do recall.

I do recall.

I said, "Now, I think we've got something special here though," because there's no doubt

our spirits and our souls resonated.

Intellectually, we were just on fire talking about the great classical and canonical texts.

I think...

Robert: That's when we decided to teach together.

Cornel: We figured, we've got to teach a class together, a great books class.

Robert: Yeah.

Cornel: From Plato through Newman all the way up to Martin Luther King, Jr.

Robert: I remember that very well.

For the first class, you chose six books and I chose six books and we decided that we would

each choose books that were important in our own intellectual odyssey.

Then after that, we just chose all the books together for the future seminars that we taught.

Cornel: That's 10 years.

Well, nine years now.

Robert: Yeah, almost 10 years.

Do you remember some of the authors from the very first one?

Of course we had Plato's "Gorgias."

Cornel: We always started with Plato.

Robert: That text, the "Gorgias" had been very important for me in my intellectual journey.

That's what opened my mind to philosophy when I was an undergraduate at Swarthmore.

You recommended Luther's "Babylonian Captivity of the Church", which I had never read.

Cornel: I forgot.

I forgot.

Robert: Yeah, and only when I read it that I finally understand how one man, an obscure

monk, could turn the whole of Christian civilization in Europe on its head and cause a revolution,

a reformation, because it is such a powerful...

Of course, as a Catholic I needed to hear that.

Cornel: It's coming at you.

Robert: That was celebrating the 500th anniversary.

I don't know if I'm celebrating, but it's the 500th anniversary of the reformation.

But you introduced me to that text and that shed a lot of light on the history of Christian

civilization in the west and how the reformation actually happened.

Let's see, what else did we read.

We read Hayek and we read Marx.

Cornel: We could have read Hayek and Marx.

Robert: We read Marx's "Communist Manifesto."

Cornel: We read both.

Absolutely.

Robert: That's exactly right.

I remember one of the books you chose was Leo Strauss' "Natural Right and History."

Cornel: Yes.

Classic.

Robert: That's right.

Now, people would be surprised about that because they think, "Cornel West, he's a

big leftist.

He's gonna hate Leo Strauss.

Why would he insist on reading Leo Strauss?"

But what people don't know about you, my brother, is that you got a deep appreciation of the

conservative tradition.

Leo Strauss, Eric Voegelin.

Cornel: Eric Voegelin.

Robert: Burke.

Cornel: Edmund Burke.

Robert: Yeah.

I'm outing you now in front of all these people.

Cornel: No.

I tell the world.

I tell the world.

But you insisted on Martin Luther King Jr.

Robert: I did, because I'd been teaching "Letter from the Burmingham Jail."

It was a very important text for me.

And of course it's important to the history of the civil rights movement, but it's actually

a work of political philosophy, one that draws on many of the other works that we were reading.

It draws on Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas.

It's an explication at a popular level, it wasn't just for scholars, an explication of

the tradition of natural law.

And as you know, I've devoted my career to the idea of natural law theory, which goes

back through the middle ages and the Christian period, back all the way to Plato and Aristotle

and to the Roman philosophers and jurists.

So King is a kind of synthesizer and summarizer in the context of the civil rights struggle

of these treasures of civilization that give us reason to believe that there are standards

above the merely human law, moral standards, principles of natural law, under which the

human law always stands in judgement.

Cornel: Absolutely.

Robert: That's how we can judge human law to be good or bad, right or wrong, just or

unjust.

If it weren't for those standards, as King points out, then there would be no saying

that Hitler was wrong or Hitler was bad, or that Mother Theresa is good.

Cornel: That's right.

Robert: We'd be left in a kind of swamp of relativism and ultimately nihilism.

DEADMAN WONDERLAND OPENING - One Reason (Cover) | FRIKI FRIDAY - Duration: 3:54.

Hey guys! It's me Sebastian Rötten!

I've been thinking a lot of doing a new section

wich I'm gonna call it

I have to admit that I'm a big fan of Japanese stuff like

Anime, music, Manga...

Well, the japanese culture overall.

So, what I'm trying to tell ya is that I decided to sing

an opening or an ending of some Animes

the last Friday of every mounth of the year.

So, this is "One Reason" by Fade from

Deadman Wonderland.

よし!

行きましょう!

Hope you like it!

Slit the throat of reason and reality

Cut myself and scream for their insanity

Wake up to this nightmare that will never end

The main attraction of this twisted master plan

Trust nothing but pain to get me through the daze

Sleep with one eye open not to be their prey

Fist against my face they bring me to my knees

The pressure's crushing down so hard

I can't break free

When I can feel my skin crawl

When I'm about to crack

The hunger for revenge gives me strength to stand

I will be your deadman

With nothing but this blood on my hands

Stuck in your "wonderland"

I just want to make you bleed like me

Everyday goes by without a second thought

Living in a perfect and controlled project

A puppet of their sick perversion's appetite

Will I be trapped inside this hell until I die?

So what if no one cares

Enough to make a change

I give my bleeding heart out for one reason

I will be your deadman

With nothing but this blood on my hands

Stuck in your "wonderland"

I wanna make you bleed just like me

So make me your deadman

With only poison in my veins

Stuck in your "wonderland"

Stagnated by the passivity

I'm gonna make you bleed like me

Thanks for watching!

Threadlocker Solutions - Proper Application & Demo | Fasteners 101 - Duration: 10:51.

Welcome back to Albany County Fasteners

Fasteners 101

I'm bob and today we're going to talk

about thread locking solutions.

So these thread locking solutions are MRO brand

and they're equivalent to Loctite, Vibra-tite,

etc. Thread locking is a sealing

product available in removable and

permanent. So we're going to demonstrate

these products to you.

So this is a low strength solution

15 This is removable. This is made for

small screw diameters up to a quarter

inch. May be dismantled with Hand tools so

you can use a ratchet or pliers

to remove the nut or the screw.

So the next one I have is a solution 17. This is a

medium strength, blue color. Available in regular

and oil resistant. It's removable. May be

disassembled with hand tools up to

three-quarters of an inch diameter bolt.

Oil resistance is thicker and less runny.

Our solution 10 is almost

equivalent to a solution 17.

The only difference between the two is

that solution 17 is oil resistant

whereas the solution 10 is a standard

thread locker with medium strength. It has

the same properties basically of the

blue available in regular.

So this would be the regular and

this would be the oil. Removable.

And the same thing, it goes up to

three-quarters of an inch in diameter

bolts to be used.

The last one here is solution

16. This is a high-strength,

high-temperature, threadlocker. This

you're not going to remove with regular tools.

This is permanent. Once you apply it, it

would stand up to 450 degrees. It goes up

to one-and-a-half inch diameter bolts.

Disassembly is very difficult and

impossible in most situations.

So I'm going to take this solution 10, which is

the the medium strength blue. As you can

see this is brand-new. Comes with a sealed top

on it. It has different levels to cut the

tip off, so depending on how much

material you want to come out. I'm just

going to use the first tier and then I'm

going to apply some of this on here. This

is the solution 10. That's

enough on there, I think I put a little too

much maybe this time. I'm just going to

screw this on and it's going to leave it

there and let it set up i'm also going

to move this to the five cap back on

ok

interesting

and then I'm going to take the next one

this is a solution 15 this is the low

strength threadlocker same thing this is

brand-new so I'm just going to cut the

top off a little bit here and apply this

one on

that on there but that's it close that

up and this is the solution 17 this is

blue wall fell the other one was read

that i just did that's going to cut that

tape off a little bit to apply a little

bit on here

17 and then the final which is the

high-strength I have to remove the top

on this too and i'm going to apply a

little bit of this stuff

there we go

this is the one they've non-removable

but will free will test that so we

applied the thread Locker to each one of

these items the screw his cap through

and the not okay so this is a the

solution 15 mro solution 15 purple i'm

going to see this is this is low

strength so I should just be able to

take this right off with these pools

here and this is for demonstration using

it on an engine or something like that

at the same you get the same result so

this is come right off but as you can

see there you can see the finished you

can see the purple thread Locker on

their of those lightweight light-duty

low-strength product so this is the

solution 10 blue this is like the most

common thread Locker product everybody

uses blue medium strength

this was applied 24 hours ago and i'm

just going to take my wrenches here and

just the Howard breaks loft

this is a little stronger than the low

strength and you can feel that so it

does lock the thread through the glue

residue coming off of my hands here it

does lock

thread does a pretty good job of it

this is solution 17 this a thread Locker

is oil-resistant threadlocker we did put

apply the thread Locker blue coil

resistance 24 hours ago and i'm just

going to see how this remove actually

this one the coil resistance actually a

little stronger and strength but again

does the job very this is a solution

16 this is a high strength and

high-temperature this is either very

difficult to remove after you place the

thread Locker on the nut and screw or

will be impossible

it's one of the other but we're going to

see what happens here we applied this 24

hours ago

so let's let's see what happens

that's good sign by one more pressure

here

alright so it is turning but it's taking

a lot of pressure to get it off so i

would say that this is very good as far

as high-strength ghosts but this

demonstration it was not impossible to

remove it but it's very strong and

thread locking so there you go

I told you about the different solutions

for threadlocker different applications

for them

Governor Wolf invites Speaker Ryan to meet the people who'd lose treatment under GOP plan - Duration: 0:42.

Hey Pennsylvania.

Turns out the Republican Party is going to be spending a couple days in Philadelphia

at a retreat.

Speaker Paul Ryan is going be there.

I invited him to come with me to see a Center of Excellence, an opioid treatment center,

in Philadelphia when he's in town.

I'm going to be there.

The reason I want him to see it is because, if he goes through with repealing

the Affordable Care Act, I want him to see firsthand what that's going to mean for the

lives of people who benefit from that Center of Excellence and who can now get treatment

because they're covered under the expanded Medicaid.

So, I'm looking forward to seeing Speaker Ryan in Philadelphia, with me,

at an opioid center on Monday.

10 Green Screen Movie Effects That Are Embarrassing to Watch - Duration: 6:35.

10 Worst Green/Blue Screen Effects in Big Budget Movies

Chroma key is pretty difficult to do right.

You need to not only have the right camera set up, but you also need perfect lighting

to make sure your actors match the lighting of your intended background.

You also need to ensure that the background in question is three dimensional and convincing

and you also need your actors a good distance away from the green or blue screen you're

using to ensure they don't accidentally cast a shadow and create a weird silhouette.

So it should come as a surprise that not every movie gets it right, here are 10 Green/Blue

Screen effects gone horribly wrong.

And before we get started, make sure to subscribe to CBR for cool vids like this one, delivered

to you daily Star Wars Prequels

This whole list could have probably been filled with specific moments from Star Wars.

We've decided to limit the list just to just one entry.

When George Lucas made the prequels he insisted on pushing what technology could do in order

to get his vision across.

The downside was that filming nearly every scene of the movie either on a chroma key

screen, and including masses of visual effects in every shot that wasn't on one led to

a very rubbery, artificial world at best, and made the characters look like they were

standing in front of 2D picture at worst.

From the arena battle of attack of the clones, to the four hour long battle on the lava planet

of Mustafa in return of the Sith, precisely nothing looks like it's actually there,

not even the actors.

Thankfully the more recent Star Wars films haven't abused chroma key quite as much.

The Adventures Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3-D

Robert Rodriguez is the man behind Sin City, a film which along with the other Frank Miller

comic movie 300 is a lesson in how to do green screen and digital effects right.

He's also the man behind Sharkboy and Lava Girl, which is wrong in pretty much every

capacity.

More or less the entire film is layered with CG shots gone wrong.

The worst of all though is the goddamn green screens that the movie uses throughout its

entire run time.

Not one of them looks remotely real and worst of all is that it doesn't even really match

the monstrous CG creations cooked up for the film.

That coupled with some painful lines of dialogue and cringe the inducing delivery of them,

not to mention all of those aforementioned poor effects being in 3-D, made for a less

than great movie.

Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over No, we're not done picking on Robert Rodriguez.

Before making Sharkboy and Lava Girl he tried his hand at 3-D with the third Spy Kids movie

to a very similar effect.

While any of the Spy Kids movies could have been used in place of this we don't think

that there's much worse than a 3-D movie with some of the flattest keyed in back grounds

we've ever seen.

While later, better movies like Avatar would use 3D to and depth to the world and would

use blue screens to tremendous effect, early movies like Spy Kids not only don't hold

up, but were poor at the time too.

It's important to note that Robert Rodriquez was using blue screens to great effect in

other movies but for some reason the Spy Kids movies always fell very, very short.

Labyrinth Rather than using giant marionettes in this

movie a-la Toho movies, Labyrinth decided that the best way to make puppets dance was

to have them operated by men fully covered in black on a black background.

While the puppets dancing themselves don't look bad, after all this is a technique used

in theatre all the time, what looks simply horrendous is the appalling backdrop they're

dancing on.

It neither looks like the puppets are standing on it, nor does it look like the actress is

standing on it.

For a movie with great visuals and fantastic practical effects, this one attempt at chroma

keying was just unbelievably awful.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

One of the things that the Indiana Jones films get praised for is their approach to practical

effects and sets.

The stunts were always done by real people and the special effects looked organic.

Indiana Jones was like a cross between an epic stunt show and an old movie serial.

This was completely lost in the fourth entry, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

While the movie isn't terrible, the over abundance of CGI including this awful green

screen car chase sequence looked downright awful when compared to the other, much older

films.

The worst part was that Steven Spielberg initially said that the movie was going to make use

of practical effects the same way the original movies did.

Unfortunately, that was not what we got.

Jupiter Ascending Perhaps the only thing scarier than the Wachowski's

ablity to direct academy award winner Eddie Redmayne to the worst performance of his career

are the ever present, but never quite convincing, green screen backgrounds in Jupiter Ascending.

Jupiter Ascending uses the Phantom Menace approach to chroma key, which is that as much

as possible should be CG'd in post.

While the Wachowski's have been known for their use of CGI and techniques such as bullet

time that inspired a wave of action movies, Jupiter Ascending is unfortunately less ground

breaking and more regressive.

For a movie that features the gold bearded Channing Tatum soaring through the air, it

would really help if the audience believed that the sky was actually there.

The Hobbit The Hobbit trilogy suffered from a lot of

problems behind the scenes, one of the major ones being Peter Jackson being put in the

director's seat at the last minute and generally not having a clue what he was doing throughout

the entire production of the movie.

As a result, the big sets and brilliant costume design were largely replaced with CG backgrounds

and objects that were put in behind the scenes.

As with most movies that overuse green screen effects the end result was half of the movie

just not looking like it belonged there.

While certainly not the worst example of bad green screening, so much of the Hobbit looked

artificial and with the movie being stretched out from two to three, the budget was spread

thinner.

It's not Peter Jackson's fault but all of those back stage issues ultimately led

to the movie looking far worse.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, 2014, Warner Bros.

Star Trek: Insurrection Insurrection is one of many bad Star Trek

films from the original movie til' now.

The grand finale of the film was originally going to utilise a blue screen, however they

were unable to get the desired effect.

So rather than actually attempting to do anything new with the set they just… left the blue

screen up.

As a result we get to see Picard, Worf and crew fighting bad guys on a space ship primed

for chroma key.

Not only is it incredibly noticeable it doesn't look right on camera.

There is no reason for the blue to be there and rather than it being a mistake that was

easily covered it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice We could have taken most of the shots from

this movie as a pretty good example.

At some point superhero movies decided that the city wasn't exactly important unless

it was being destroyed.

Batman vs Superman is plagued with obviously CGI cities and backgrounds, with nearly all

the important action shots being filmed on green screen.

Judging by the behind the scenes footage of Justice League, that doesn't look like it

will be changing any time soon.

So it looks like we're going to get to see a lot more of Batman walking through obviously

computer generated landscapes.

With that said, it's not the worst use of chroma key on the list and it's certainly

nowhere near as bad as…

Movie Source/Year: Man of Steel, Warner Bros, 2016

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros, 2016

Justice League, Warner Bros, 2017 Wonder Woman, Warner Bros. 2017

The Green Lantern Making use of lots of blue screens and a fully

CG costume is the godawful Green Lantern movie.

Not only were the keyed in backgrounds roughly the same quality of an early era PS3 cutscene,

but the suit itself that was also keyed in was similarly awful.

Rather than looking like The Green Lantern was floating above a video game background,

it instead looked like Ryan Reynolds severed head was floating around the movie, only just

about looking like it was attached to the costume.

While movies like Batman vs Superman and The Hobbit had poorly integrated CG, it can't

even compare with The Green Lantern's special effects, which were so bad they were even

mocked in Ryan Reynold's later superhero movie: Deadpool

Are you surprised?

No.

Mexico, I'm an American.

My heritage is Mexican.

Mexico has its own issues.

And Mexico's always been kind of a partner of the United States.

In six days, the fucking tangerine has us almost at war with Mexico.

For some wall that if he fucking did his homework he'd realize that more people are leaving

Yeah, there's a lot to unpack there, but it's no secret that George Lopez still doesn't

8 tips to know if the honey you use is fake or true - Duration: 2:49.

Learn to identify when honey is true

O

Honey is a food rich in protein, vitamins and minerals.

In addition to several medicinal properties.

However, there are fakes that food.

That's right.

The adulterated honey, may contain aniline, iodine, rosewater, vanilla, sugar syrup

burnt cane molasses and other products synthetics and chemicals harmful to health.

There are some ways for you to verify the quality of honey:

1.

The real honey will always crystallize.

This happens first crystallisation in bottom.

2.

The fake honey is more liquid.

3.

Dip a match in honey, and try light later.

If you do not light the honey is false.

4.

Heat in water bath, 1 tablespoon honey with 3 tablespoons alcohol.

Dissolve is true, if you become one white on the bottom is false.

5.

Ping few drops of honey sheet of paper.

Sweetheart - Henning Stærk // acoustic cover by Patrick V. Bentsen - Duration: 4:32.

I met her in a truckstop

In some little Texas town

She just looked up from the counter

Surprised that anyone would come around

Just another boring day Out on the Interstate Highway

She said "Hey you guys where are you heading to?

Try some of my Mexican stew!"

I said "I guess we'll take anything as long as it's served by you"

She was a sweetheart

If there ever was one

She was a sweetheart

But we were havin' all the fun

I said "If you have the time come and keep us company"

She said "Time is the one thing

that always comes plenty to me - by the way are you on your own

or did you leave someone like someone just left me

She was a sweetheart

if there ever was one

she was a sweetheart

but we were having all the fun

On saturday nights She spent all her time

'Round the wishing well

Drinkin' beers Throwing coins and curses On almost anything

But there is one thing I could tell

One night she went to the well

Collected the coins and drank up Everybody's dreams

She said "I was married twice but we blew it all up!

And now I'm hanging around with the last single man in this town

And if anything is happening anywhere he and I - We'll be the ones to care"

She was a sweetheart

If there ever was one

She was a sweetheart

But we were havin' all the fun

She was a sweetheart

If there ever was one

She was a sweetheart

If there ever was one

*fade out* ^^

yeah

just a little cute story I think

and, erhm, yeah

please trust the world

& hunt your dreams.

ciao!

What I Wore ~ The Dress Up Mom Styles One Suit Four Ways ~ Ep. 3 - Duration: 2:53.

[Audio Length: 0:02:52] RECORDING COMMENCES:

Rajka Hayden: One of my favorite pieces is a vintage Oscar

de la Renta suit that I bought via resale.

I love it.

Today, I'm going to show you four different ways that I've styled this suit.

I hope that you like it.

If you do like what you're seeing and you like these kinds of videos please give us

a thumbs up.

Also, leave me some comments and we'll keep doing them.

I'll show you the outfits.

This is my Oscar de la Renta suit.

I had it altered significantly to make it modern, but I bought it resale at a great

price and it was in really good shape.

It always reminds me of Christmas wrapping paper, that foil Christmas wrapping paper

and I love wearing it around the holidays like this as a suit.

For example, to a holiday party or something like that.

This is look number one.

I've paired it with these shoes that were actually from the 80s, Le Petit Jean, that

my mother actually gifted to me.

Here I have the jacket paired with these palazzo pants that I have and my Louboutin shoes.

These pants are actually from the St. John Knits company store.

My very best friend works with them and I had the opportunity to go to that company

store, it was incredible.

They were long pants, I had them shortened, but this is one look with just using the jacket.

In this look I paired the pants with this St. John knit sweater.

The St. John knit sweater was also from the company store.

And, I've got on my Bryr clogs, little peep toe clogs with it.

This is another way to wear the pants.

Finally, I have now paired the pants with this Ralph Lauren button-down white shirt

and my trusty red oxford flats that I've forever and resoled a bunch of times.

This is the most causal way I have found to wear the suit and I wear this actually to

work.

So, that's my suit four different ways.

I could actually style it probably another four different ways, I find it to be very

versatile, even though it's quite a gold set of pieces.

I would love to know if you had a favorite outfit, you can leave that in the comments

below.

And, if you have a suit that you do this kind of thing, I'd love to see that.

You can put that on my Instagram at The Dress Up Mom.

Thank you so much for watching.

If you haven't subscribed already, please do, we're trying to grow the channel.

Until next time, dress it up a little.

All My Photography Gear - Duration: 27:23.

So guys

I had an idea that can go wrong

I'm gonna fly this drone in here

This is not gonna go well

What do you think, Pipoca?

What's up, guys! How are you?

Today I bring you the most requested video here

Not exactly the most requested video

but all of this is what people ask me about the most

"Paulo, which camera do you use?"

"Which lens do you use?"

"Which drone do you have?"

"What do you use to edit your photos?"

So I decided to make a video showing everything

The table is a mess

So let's get it started, because there's a lot to talk about

First, I would like to apologize

It's been a while since I posted my last video

I think it was in the beginning of December

but you know that it's always crazy at the end of the year

and 2017 started with a bunch of projects

so I got really busy

I'm back now

and I wanted to apologize first

Today we are going to talk about this

The table is a big mess right now

I'll removing stuff with time

I'm not even sure where to begin

Actually, before starting, I wanted to ask you

If you haven't subscribed to my channel, please do

Make sure to leave your comment below

If you think about buying any of these products

and have questions about it, feel free to ask me

Don't forget to follow me on other social networks

specially Instagram

It's @paulodelvalle

Also share this video with someone that you know

that wants to buy any of these products

I'll give here my sincere opinion

about each of these things

I hope you guys like it

I think I'll start with the basics

Let's talk about my phone

Many of you already know that I have an iPhone 7 Plus

Here's the cover

I did a complete review of the iPhone 7 Plus

here on my YouTube channel

If you haven't seen it yet, the link is here below

I think it's an amazing smartphone

Probably the best one on the market for taking photos

It's not because it has the best image quality

I talk about this on my review

because there are a couple of competitors that have

a slightly better image

but if you consider its features

Everything it does

The "Portrait Mode" is amazing

You can see many photos I shot in the Portrait Mode in the video

Anyway, it's an amazing phone

I don't want to talk much about it

This is my phone for taking pictures

My main Instagram account has very few iPhone shots

You can see all my iPhone shots on my other Instagram

which is @paulo_delvalle

100% iPhone

and the most recent photos are shot with the iPhone 7 Plus

I think only 1% of my photos from my main instagram

were shot with an iPhone

When it's an iPhone shot, I write that on my caption

So, this is my phone and it's really great

If you watched the review

you noticed it was a gold iPhone 7 Plus

Now I have this Jet Black version

It's beautiful

I really like it

It's 256GB

Since my other one was 128GB, I sold it

and kept this one for me

It's an amazing phone indeed

Since I'm talking about smartphones

Let's talk about my mobile tripod

I have this one

The brand is Joby

I also have the bigger one for cameras

I know the big one is called GorillaPod

I'm just not sure if the small one is called the same

It's a good tripod and I like it very much

It looks a bit weird with these little balls

You can bend it anyway you want

They both do that

You can put them almost anywhere

in a fence, tree...

You just wrap it around it and it will stay there

Same things goes for the big one

Maybe there's nowhere you can put your tripod

You just wrap it around stuff

It's a very good one

Joby GorillaPod

I have the small one for smartphones

and the big one for cameras

One thing I don't like very much

I understand that these little balls are good

to wrap around stuff

but it's a bit annoying to close it

I have to squeeze it many times

It's a bit complicated

but this is the tripod I use with my iPhone

The iPhone 7 Plus is the maximum size you can fit

So be aware of that

So if I have a bigger phone one day

which I don't think it's gonna happen

but if I did, I couldn't use this one

I know there big phones that this one

If you have one, keep that in mind

If your phone is too big

Those phablets

phone and tablet

Keep in mind that these tripods have a size limit

which is usually the iPhone Plus size

Still talking about phones

I have this gimbal

DJI Osmo Mobile

It's a gimbal to stabilize the image

I'm not sure if it's charged

You put your phone here

When you turn it on

Now I see it's charged

It stabilizes my video

Any way I move, it keeps steady

and this is very good for filming

I think since the iPhone 6S

it shoots in 4K

So I've been using my phone to make videos too

and I decided to buy this gimbal for my iPhone

This is great to film while walking

because it shakes much less

even running

It's great for thar

I can film panning the phone like this

It can move horizontally and vertically

There's a tripod for this

and you can set it to film timelapses while panning

It costs USD 299

I don't regret buying it

I don't use it much

because I do more photos than videos

but it's a product I loved and I don't regret buying it

I think there's nothing else for smartphones

Now let's talk about photography

My cameras

This was my main camera

You can see my dog Pipoca over there, right?

She's eating a cattle ear

You can buy these stuff at pet shops

and she keeps eating that all day

I gave it to her because I needed to film this

otherwise she would be jumping on me

I have to talk faster because there's a lot to talk about

I had this camera, Canon 6D

it's a semi-professional camera

I think it's 20MP

It's full frame

Before this one I had a Canon T2i

It was an entry level camera

I think nowadays the model is Canon T6i

It was a good camera

I've been using Canon for many years

After I sold my Canon T2i, I wanted to get a semi-pro

and I got the Canon 6D

because the T2i wasn't full frame

The T2i has a APS-C sensor

So when you get a full frame, you can see much more

I really like the 6D

The only thing I find annoying

is when you are shooting in live view mode

When you see it on the screen and not on the viewfinder

In live view mode it takes forever to focus

It's really annoying

It takes about 5 seconds to focus

It's a great camera, but it's really big and heavy

I've had this one for some time

It's all scratched

but it's not my main camera nowadays

It's my backup camera

If I go to a place that I think it's dangereous

with risk of getting robbed

I take this one

My main camera now, which is a professional one

It's filming on the tripod now

I'll use a few takes to show it to you

It's the Sony Alpha A7R Mark II

It's an amazing mirrorless camera

The Canon is a DSLR

and the Sony is a Mirrorless

What's the difference?

The Canon has a mirror inside

When you take a photo

The mirror goes up and down

What you see here is a reflection from this mirror

As the name says, the mirrorless has no mirror

That makes it possible to make smaller and lighter cameras

and that's what Sony did

and many other brands as well, like Fujifilm

Canon has just announced one as well

I think all brands will make mirrorless cameras

I think it's the future

The cameras will be smaller

I love my Sony

It's a 42MP camera

Full frame

It has around 400 points of focus

It doesn't have this problem that Canon has

It has a super fast focus

Since there's no mirror inside

It's not possible for you to see any reflection in here

So there's a small screen in the viewfinder

It's a small display with good image quality

Of course, it's not excellent

You know it's a display

The advantage is

When you look at the viewfinder in a DSLR

You don't see any changes when you change settings

because it's just a reflection from the mirror

You can only see it changing on the screen in a DSLR

and the Canon has that focusing problem in live view

with the Sony, since it's a display

The same thing that is shown on the big display

is also shown on the small one

So I don't have to take my eyes off here

because I can see it changing

So that's a big advantage of any mirrorless camera

My Sony has a few problems I don't like

but I'll talk about that in a review of that camera

becuase I know a lot of people is interested in knowing more about it

So I'll make a review of my Sony A7R II

Let's go back to Canon

I only have one lens from Sony

the 24-70mm f/4

It's kinda the equivalent of the 24-105mm f/4 from Canon

It has a good "zoom"

It's f/4, so not as many light as other lenses

but it's good enough

The lenses I have for Canon

I have a Sigma Art Lens 35mm f/1.4

Since it's f/1.4

It has great aperture

Beautiful lens, it gets a lot of light inside

and also great bokeh

The smaller the "f", the bigger the aperture opening

more light inside and better bokeh

It's a great lens for portraits

At night you can get a beautiful bokeh, with those rounded lights in the back

The smaller the "f", the better the lens to do that

Another Canon lens, I have the 14mm f/2.8

I've never liked fisheye lenses

I had a fisheye and I just sold it

I don't like the fisheye because of the bubble effect

Everything gets distorted, specially the horizon

That's the bubble effect

It distorts a lot architecture photos

There was a time I was addicted to shooting with this

If you go back 3 years on my Instagram

you will find some fisheye shots

but then I found out about this kind of lens

14mm

I doesn't distort as much

basically nothing

It puts everything further away

It's great for architecture shots

So if you are in front of a big construction or monument

and you want to have it further away

This is the lens for you

It's f/2.8

Much better than f/4

Let's talk about tripods

I have this mini tripod from Manfrotto

There are many places that don't let you use big tripods

like museums

Some places are worried about people using tripods

Specially museums

Other places like the Grand Central Terminal, New York

you can't use one

So I always carry this mini tripod for these kind of situations

They don't complain about this one

As I said before, I have this GorillaPod

you can put it anywhere

The tripod I'm using with the Sony is also a Manfrotto

It's ok, I don't like it a lot

It's a video tripod

When I bought it, I didn't understand much

I ended up purchasing a video tripod

It's great for video because of the ball head

You can easily move around

and get smooth movements

It's good for panning

For video that's great

Not for photos though, because it's horrible to use it in portrait mode

It's something I use a lot and my tripod sucks for that

So I really need to buy a new tripod

The GorillaPod can help me with that

I just have to wrap it somewhere

Anyway, I need a better one

Talking about Sony and Canon lenses

I have a few Canon lenses

I had to buy an adapter for my Sony

This is the Metabones

It's an adapter to use Canon lenses on the Sony

You put the Canon lens in one side and put the adapter on the Sony

It was good to get this because Sony lenses are expensive

of course I still wanted to use these lenses

The Sigma was USD 900

The 14mm was USD 2.200

They are expensive as well

so I still wanted to use them

Specially the 14mm that Sony doesn't have one

It's a good adapter

It doesn't work perfectly though

It works when it wants to work

Sometimes it focus automatically

when I use a Canon lens

It has 2 versions, one with auto focus and one without it

I bought the auto focus version but it doesn't always work

I doesn't work with my Sigma, for example

I think only with Canon lenses

Let's talk about filters

This is a ND filter

for long exposure

It's a 10 stops neutral density filter

It's really dark

When I want to shoot long exposure during the day

I use this filter

So it gets really dark and I can decrease my shutter speed

Great for shooting the water movement on waterfalls, the ocean...

I also have a polarizing filter

It's not here with me

but I do have one

It's great for removing reflections from glass and water

Let's say you are in a beach with crystal clear water

and you want to see what's underwater

this filter is great for removing the sun reflections

Also it gives a nice look on landscapes

everything pops out, kinda like 3D

If you have sunglasses with polarized lenses

you will know what I'm talking about

You notice everything pops out when you wear them

Let's talk about flash

I have two for my Sony

There's one thing I didn't like about my Sony

I bought these but I never use them

If I need to use them for a commercial shoot, I have them

So the thing I don't like about it is this

This is a wireless external flash

I don't feel the need to use the flash on camera

I wanted one to use it from the side, for example

but I hate that Sony doesn't let you use only one flash off camera

I must have one flash on camera

that sends an infrared signal to the other flash

so the 2 will flash

Not sure if the both flash

but you get my point

It sucks that I had to buy a cheaper flash to send the signal to the better flash

It's really dumb and I'm sure Canon doesn't have that

I'm pretty sure I've seen people using only one external flash on a Canon

I don't remember the exact model

Anyway, all the names will be in the description below

What can we talk about now?

GoPro

I have a GroPro Hero 4 Silver

I don't use it much

only when I want to shoot underwater

but I do like the GoPro for that

I have a dome for the GoPro

This is it

It works like a pistol

You put your GoPro with the case in here

You use this to take those half and half shots

You can see underwater and also above it

This one is not very good

It got scratched on the first day

and you can see the scratches on the photos

It looks horrible

I really want to buy a waterproof case for my Sony

I know it's really expensive

It's like USD 2.000

but I gotta have one

if I want to take really good photos underwater

If I use only the GoPro, it looks ok

but if I use it with this crappy dome I bought

full of scratches

I don't wanna buy a new dome because the material sucks

That's how you take half/half shots on the water

you must buy a dome for your GoPro

What else?

External Drive

This is really important if you take photos

so you can back them up

All my photos are in here

This is a Western Digital My Passport 2TB

I have many external drives filled up

I only brought this one here as an example

It's really important to have one for backup

Not only there, but also have your photos on the cloud

Use Dropbox or Google Drive

I pay USD 9.99 per month and I get 1TB

My photos are there as well

So have many backups

It's happened to me that I only had photos

in one computer and it stopped working

So I lost those photos

Also happened that I only had some photos in one external drive and it broke

Lost them as well

So have many backups

What else?

Computer

I have a Microsoft Surface Book

I really like it

I bought this one becaus of the pen

So I can use this pen on the screen

It's great for editing photos

I can zoom in with my fingers

and use the pen to edit some details

I use the brush a lot on Adobe Lightroom

So I can edit each area separately

I love zooming in and getting the pen to use the brush

It's much more precise

I use this laptop mostly when I travel

I don't edit all my photos here

I have an iMac 27"

When I'm home, I prefer to use the iMac

because the screen is much bigger

Since the iMac is not touch screen

I have this Wacom tablet

called Wacom Bamboo

It's a bit old this one

It works the same way

It has this rectangle that represents the limit of my screen

If I take my pen to the upper corner, my mouse goes there too

and it works the same way as the Surface

I love editing photos with a pen

It really helps you edit more precisely

Another important thing

Backup batteries

I have 2 Sony batteries because they don't last much

I think the Canon battery lasts twice as much

but I also have another Canon battery

I have many memory cards

I have one inside my Sony, one in my Canon and two more

They are 16GB, 32GB and 64GB

The one in the Sony is the fastest one

I can film in 4K

This is our first video in 4K

Really cool

What else, guys?

Only the drone left?

Ahh, I also have this mini adpater from Lexar

It's an adapter from Micro SD to USB

Those tiny memory cards from smartphones and drones

I find it easier to use via USB

I guess there's no computer that accepts micro SD

You need an adapter

and I never liked those adapters that are Micro SD to SD

I prefer this one that is USB

I think now there's only the drone left to talk about

This is my drone

DJI Phantom 4

It's a very good drone

Here's the remote

I use my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 here

The only thing I don't like is the long time it takes to set it up

It takes about 5 minutes

but it helps you get images that you could never get

unless you have a chopper

It's big, but it's awesome

It's just annoying setting it up

you gotta connect it to the smartphone with the cord

so it takes about 5 minutes

It shoots videos in 4K

It takes 12MP photos

There's now the new professional version that takes 20MP photos

The new one films in more frames per second

but I like this one

It's very good

It's good if you can have another phone to use here

The new one comes with a screen attached to the remote

which is great

because it saves time

DJI has another new drone, the Mavic Pro

it folds and it gets really small

It's a drone I wanted to have

but with the launch of the Phantom 4 Pro

I think that one will be my next drone and not the Mavic

Since I work with this, I need better image quality

and the Mavic has the same quality as this one I have

So I want a better one

and not the same thing just because it folds

I will keep having an annoying big drone

but if it will give me even better quality

What's the harm?

Another thing I have is the microphone

in my Sony

Not just Sony, it works with anything

It works with Canon

It's that headphone jack plug

I even used it with my iPhone 7 Plus with the adapter

I did a work recently that I used this mic on the iPhone

It's a very good microphone

I made sure to get a good one

It was a bit expensive

I think it was USD 250

but it's very good

I have this furry thing

that is good for filming outside

it protects from the wind

so you don't get the wind noise on your audio

I will also show some video takes of it

because it's up there on my Sony while filming

I think that's all, guys

Thank you for your patience if you kept watching until the end

It's a longer video because there was a lot to talk about

If you have any questions about any of these products

Comment here below

or send an email to hello@paulodelvalle.com

You can also send a message on Instagram

Twitter as well

So if you are thinking about buying any of these or similar ones

and have questions

I will try to help

I hope you liked it

Our next video will be posted next week

if I can keep my schedule of filming these videos

I will talk about which cameras to buy

another question I get all the time

If you want to start photography as an amateur

I'll help you choose

Also if you take photos for some time and are thinking about getting a new one

Semi-professional or professional

Also which drone to buy

Well, anything I can talk about cameras, I will

Not smartphones, because that's another video

That's it! I don't think there's anything else left.

I Have a Dream Speech by Martin Luther King, Jr. - Excerpt in Chinese - Duration: 1:02.

My name is First Lady Gabriella and I will be reciting an excerpt

from Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 'I have a Dream', in Chinese.

[Speaking Chinese] "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in

a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin

but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day, one day right there in Alabama little black boys and black

girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls

as sisters and brothers.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be exalted,

and every hill and mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plain,

and the crooked places will be made straight."

Thank you.
