CRM Advantages for Nonprofits | RedCast EP:13 part2 - Duration: 7:26.- Hello and welcome to episode 14 of the Redcast,
part two of the four part series of CRM for nonprofits.
I'm the host, Eric Lehnen of the Redcast
and in this next part we're going to be talking about
the detail of why nonprofits and foundations
and higher education organizations really need
to consider having a CRM and all the advantages
that come with it.
(lively music)
Why Salesforce for nonprofits, foundations, and higher eds?
You called out a really good point which is,
if you're a qualified 501(c)(3),
you get the Salesforce at org grant,
which provides 10 free enterprise licenses,
which is a huge step up for small nonprofits
that you only need a few users.
You have everything you need,
in there, to build that foundation.
So, why else, what are the other reasons for Salesforce?
So we have all these other cool tools,
we've got these pre-built connectors.
- Yeah, I mean, I think it's the ability
to customize and configure.
Salesforce by no means is a turnkey solution
and let's make sure we all know that and understand that.
But what Salesforce does have,
and I've heard this countless times spoken by many people,
copyright, the many people,
that you have access to a 747 now.
- Yeah.
- And, the way I like to explain, this
is that you have to shell to that 747
and you have maybe the seats, and you have the engines
and you have the...
All the cart trays and everything you need
to make that 747 a possibility,
but they may just not be done installed yet
and so that's where Salesforce becomes
a blessing and a burden.
Where I like to look at as more on the blessing side
is that I can choose where those seats are laid out.
- I can choose-- - For your use case.
- For my use case, I can put, six wide if I wanted to.
(laughs)
I can put two wide and then put, you know--
- To make it more comfortable.
- Yeah, or put the chairs together
so you can have conversations going.
- Yeah.
- You know, you can pick and choose
how those seats are laid out.
That's really where Salesforce sets us apart,
or sets itself apart from the others,
is that you can really customize
and configure and tailor it to meet your needs.
And it gives you a really good shell,
so Salesforce itself, the nonprofit Success Pack or Heata,
they give you a good shell and actually some good
building blocks to use and be up and running rather quickly.
And then from there, you can tailor it to do things
of what you want.
That's really what sets Salesforce apart
and why I think Salesforce is a really good tool,
is that you can tailor it and make it yours whether it be,
the processes that it wanted to have, so automations.
Maybe it's fields you want to track,
maybe it's how the pages look.
You know, I think about lightening and all the really
cool things we can make with page layouts.
That's something that doesn't really exist
in any of the apps right now.
It's kind of a, you drop and drag
and you build the page layout to make it look and feel
where it's efficient for you.
- And I also want to throw in...
There's not a technical expertise that goes in.
I mean you need to know
the foundational administrative side of Salesforce,
but you're tailoring it for your specific use case,
your experience for your users,
versus a turnkey solution that's,
sorry, your foundation or nonprofit,
well, this is what you get, this is what we have.
I mean there might be some differences,
but it's your specific organization can have
total control over process and automation.
- Exactly, and a great point
was the drop and drag interface.
Well I can do with the drop and drag interface.
I can't connect my printer at home to our wireless network.
(laughs)
And so the fact that I'm able to use Salesforce
and be able to build on Salesforce
and doing so on such a
advanced way is really powerful.
So there's a lot of things that we can do to make
Salesforce really powerful within that
drag and drop interface, for someone like myself
that, isn't super tech-savvy.
- Sure.
- But if I know how to,
navigate with the mouse, it becomes,
where the biggest barrier is that it's less about,
knowing if it's possible, it's knowing,
how do you do it and finding, okay,
which page do I need to be on
if I'm trying to create an automation,
so understanding, oh I need to be in process filter.
If I'm wanting to create, say a validation rule
or something that's gonna prohibit users from
entering data in a certain way,
I have to be in the validation rule section of.
- Yeah. - Kind of set up.
So, it's more about navigating where you need to be,
then how do you actually achieve it,
'cause once you get there,
I think it becomes intuitive.
- Mm, hm.
- There's probably something that may discredit that,
but I think it's rather intuitive once you get there.
- That's the balance of it.
- Or, you just play with it and try to see what happens
in the sandbox org and hopefully it works eventually.
(laugh)
- Well, I think that's the idea too, you know,
you mentioned it's a blessing and a burden.
Well, it's not a turnkey solution, you can configure it,
and I think that's a trade off that a lot of people
need to realize.
If you wanted to make it work around your specific processes
versus you have to tailor your organization
around a platform, which is sometimes in many ways,
counterintuitive, 'cause this doesn't make sense
in my organization, it's almost like they have to do
two steps backwards to get the platform to work for them,
versus Salesforce, yes, there's more customization,
configuration that goes into it, but the end
result is, it's gonna work for you.
I think that's a key point, is you're not having to
make the system...
Or you work around the system's limitations,
there are really no limitations.
I think you've coined the term many times,
it's like, if you can dream it, you can build it.
- Yeah, exactly and I think a prime example of this
would be the foundations and using Salesforce
for foundations.
There are a couple of apps that exist out there
that play with Salesforce and those apps are...
Make it more turnkey,
but if those apps are cost-prohibitive or maybe
they don't fit your needs, you still have
Salesforce that you can build effectively
what they're doing to solve your use case
and your specific processes, whether it be,
letter of inquiries and how that works,
or doing it in a slightly different flavor,
or the actual application process or even the reviews,
whatever that may be, you're able to take
the building blocks that Salesforce gives you.
It's kinda like Legos, you have all these blocks
and it's just a matter of are you gonna make
that really, really cool looking dinosaur or is it just
gonna look like this blob where I just stack stuff.
(laughs)
And, you can make that really cool dinosaur
with the same number of bricks that it would take.
And it's really more on what's the imagination,
and what are you wanting to do and how does it
relate back to you existing processes.

Ronda Rousey Vs. Triple H At WrestleMania 34?! | WWE Elimination Chamber 2018 Review - Duration: 5:42.Ronda Rousey Vs Triple H?!
| WWE Elimination Chamber 2018 Review
THUMBNAIL: ROUSEY VS HHH?!
Ronda Rousey puts Triple H through a table!
Zombie Beachball makes a WOKEN return!
And Roman wins, LOL.
I'm Oli Davis, and this is the Elimination Chamber 2018… in about 4 minutes.
Galanderson beat Miztourage 2.5* Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson beat Bo Dallas
and Curtis Axel on the pre-show, despite the latter's snazzy gold coats.
This was pretty much an episode of Raw.
Women's Elimination Chamber Match 3* The main card kicked off with a big time feel,
though.
Mainly because of the massive Elimination Chamber structure now on the ring.
The first ever Women's Chamber match started off with Absolution vs Bayley and Sasha Banks,
playing off the team warfare story heading in.
Banks eventually eliminated Mandy Rose, meaning she's no longer just the first ever person
to be eliminated from the first ever women's Royal Rumble match; she's also the first
person ever to be eliminated from the first-ever women's Elimination Chamber match.
Did I mention this match was a historic first?
It was Mickie James' turn to dress up like Wonder Woman at a pay-per-view next - get
in line, ladies - where she eliminated Deville.
Banks and Bayley then eliminated Mickie, making it a two-on-one situation for the defending
heel champion… ...or it would've done if Banks took just
one second to think about tactics.
Sasha turned on Bayley while Alexa was still very fresh for zero strategic reason.
Despite an IronMaiden performance, Bayley was eventually eliminated by Bliss.
Then Alexa won by beating Banks.
Bliss masterfully worked the crowd afterwards, playing up the 'You Deserve It' chants,
saying her victory was for every little girl out there… because nobody here would ever
achieve their dreams.
The Bar beat Titus Worldwide 2.5* There was no video package for The Bar vs
Titus Worldwide, because it was only put together on this week's Raw.
The lack of story made the match feel totally inconsequential.
Asuka beat Nia Jax 3* Asuka and Nia Jax then had a pretty decent
back and forth match - with Asuka attempting submissions, for Nia to impressively power
out and then scream in her face.
Asuka eventually picked up a fluke win with a front rolling cradle.
I much preferred their Raw match last month, which got a lot more time.
Nia destroyed Asuka afterwards, stopping either woman from looking completely strong.
Matt Hardy beat Bray Wyatt 2* Matt Hardy clapping Bray Wyatt is probably
the most over thing about their feu-oh no, wait, it's the Beachball.
It's definitely the beachball in the crowd.
And also Rusev Day.
The crowd were not interested in this match at all, because WWE gave them no reason to
be.
Ronda Rousey Contract Signing Ronda Rousey's contract signing was a segment
of two distinct halves.
The awkward, fumbling first half when Ronda was on the microphone; and the awesome, badass
second when she was putting Triple H through a table.
The pivot moment was WWE's best new character: Inappropriate Uncle Kurt Angle.
After Rousey smiled her way through wanting to pay her dues, Angle then revealed that
Steph and Trips just want to get their revenge on her after she showed them up at WrestleMania
31, with the fantastic line: "3 years in the making, and now we own the b-".
It looks like we're getting Ronda and Kurt vs Stephanie and Trips at Mania.
This was the best thing on the whole show.
Men's Elimination Chamber 4* The main event began as a three way between
The Miz, and WWE's two ironmen - Seth Rollins and Finn Balor.
John Cena and Roman Reigns soon joined in, but it wasn't until Braun Strowman killed
everyone that the match really got going.
Braun used the Chamber as a weapon, Braun used these hands as a weapon, Braun even used
human bodies as a weapon.
After eliminating Miz with a powerslam, the remaining four babyfaces teamed up on Strowman
with a Shield Bomb, Braun kickout, Cena AA, kickout at 1, Roman spear, kick out!
It was a fantastic run for Strowman, and he then went onto eliminate Elias and a crestfallen
Cena - making John's character the most interesting it's been in years.
Strowman then screamed 'WHO WANTS THESE HANDS?!' to the final three men Balor, Rollins
and Reigns.
Finn tried valiantly, but ultimately succumbed to those hands too.
Just as stupidly as Banks earlier on, Seth turned on Roman before they'd eliminated
Braun - which led to Rollins getting pinned by Strowman after a hot sequence too.
This left Braun and Reigns as the last ones standing].
Strowman had overcome and pinned five other men, the crowd were chanting 'Get These
Hands'.
My heart bought into hope.
I dared dream that Strowman might actually win here, WWE changing plans to favour momentum
rather than Big Dawgged persistence.
But fool me once, shame on you, WWE.
Fool me four times, shame on me.
Roman pinned Strowman after two spears, prompting Michael Cole to orgasm on commentary: "Reigns
gets to finish what he started four years ago!"
But it won't be the finish, Michael.
It's really just the same beginning over and over again.
Rather lazily repeating the Nia Jax angle from earlier, Strowman slammed Reigns following
the match to send the crowd home 'happy', but really, despite a fun Chamber match, and
us knowing about Reigns vs Lesnar for a year already, the show ended on disappointment
in the same old, same old.
So that was the Elimination Chamber 2018 in about four minutes.
Vote in the poll above my head to give your rating, where you can choose from - In Awe,
Cor, AVRAWGE, Poor and Bore.
Despite two good Chamber matches and a fantastic Ronda segment, the crushing predictability
flattened out the show.
Elimination Chamber 2018 is AvRAWge.
The brand new episode of NGW is much better, which you can watch right now by clicking
the video on my left.
I've been Oli Davis, and that was wrestling.

2018 Honda Civic Type R – Review and Track Test - Duration: 8:42.You cannot buy a faster, more powerful Honda than the Civic Type R. From the roots
of sensible Civic transportation a performance tree has blossomed, lovingly
nurtured by a mighty 2-liter turbocharged engine, a thoroughly
reworked suspension, three-mode adaptive dampers, Continental summer performance
tires, and robust four-piston Brembo brake calipers, the cumulative result of
Honda's tuning effort is a quick and sophisticated expression of vehicular
bliss offered at a reasonable sum. For a driving aficionado and ex-S2000 owner like
me the Type R should be a slam-dunk. Except, when I was picking up the car before I
even sat in the driver's seat a little kid walked by wearing a spider-man
backpack and screamed "look mommy, a race car" To be fair, that
kid was both correct and adorable but it made me wonder, is the Type R designed
for full-grown adults or preteen Hot Wheel fanatics and Johnny Tran wannabes?
More succinctly, am I getting too old to drive something so ludicrously styled?
What do I mean? Well, like layers of frosting on a
hatchback cake, the Type R is slathered with faux carbon-fiber front and side
splitters, a conspicuous rear diffuser, three exhaust tips for some reason,
vortex generators, matte black 20-inch wheels wrapped in low-profile tires
housed in wide vented fenders, and, like a cherry on top, a novelty sized wing. Does
the most powerful of Honda's need to look like this? I'm guessing not but the
air scoop does help cool the engine and the hood it's mounted to is made of
aluminum saving, 11.7 pounds versus the Civic's regular steel hood. The wide
fenders are necessary to accommodate a track that's 2.1 inches wider in front
and 1.2 inches wider in the rear, vortex generators help guide air to the wing,
and the wing does create handy downforce when exploring the Type R's roughly 170
mile per hour top speed. So while it might look ridiculous there's enough
purpose in the Civic Type R's design that you have talking points when your
clients ask "why did you show up to the meeting in a race car?"
Inside, the racy theme continues with red accents galore and a neat serial
plate found on every Type R but function takes priority. The thick,
flat-bottom steering wheel is satisfying to grip and the manually adjustable
front seats accommodate shoulder harnesses for serious track duty and are
brilliantly supportive without resorting to the super beefy lower torso side
bolsters that some performance cars have that impede my arms when I steer.
Thankfully the Type R isn't nearly as abusive as it looks.
Employ the comfort drive mode and you'll enjoy reasonable steering efforts, easy
throttle response, and a ride that's firm but thoroughly tolerable. As you expect
sport mode tightens the suspension and steering but if you want to drive like a
madman or madwoman consider R mode. It's the absolutely right choice if you
need to lose Dom Toretto on your way to the spark and firework factory.
R mode makes the ride racetrack stiff, heavies up the steering, and alters the
automatic rev matching feature for even reviier rev matching. On that note every
Type R comes with a delightfully precise manual transmission. Think of the
shifter and clutch pedal as velvet ropes guarding the Type R. If you want to party
you got to do the manual dance. Upstream from the transmission is the Type R's
2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. If you're curious
here's the fuel economy numbers. And moving on, to make sure all that power isn't
wasted through the sound of one wheel spinning there's a limited slip diff.
Because two spinning tires are better than one or at least they would be if
the Civic Type R didn't hold its revs in a very specific spot and not allow me to
do a sweet burnout, which is why I'm going to leave quickly
instead of dramatically. This is the thing I was talking about. When I floor
it, the revs stay at 3,500 rpm. That's probably good for the drivetrain but
it's not so good for smoke burnouts.
As the most powerful production Honda to ever grace North America the Civic
Type R has the moxi to blast from stoplight to stoplight with real purpose
but it's important to set expectations. The Type R's sub six second 0-60 spirits
are quick but choose your battles wisely. All-wheel drive competitors like
the Ford Focus RS, VW Golf R, and Subaru WRX STI are notably quicker off the line
but are also somewhat more expensive. I've also noticed that if you accelerate to
redline, after the up shift, it takes a short beat before full thrust kicks in.
It's kind of exhilarating but it sort of makes me miss the high-rev linearity of
my old s2000. Nonetheless the Civic Type R is a fine tool for stoplight
shenanigans. And for some drivers that'd be enough but some of us like to turn.
How does the Type R turn? Like this!
Huh. Yeah, I just drifted the Type R. I really did too! The Type R's variable
ratio steering is slower on center, making it more stable on straights and
quicker off-center allowing you to negotiate corners with less steering
lock. In R Mode efforts are a little heavy but overall the steering feels
wonderful. But perhaps the best part of the Type R is the brakes. The pedal
has essentially zero dead space and just like the steering it feels amazing. Brake.
With 13.8 inch front rotors the brakes return consistent powerful deceleration
and look, the four piston front calipers are already red so ya don't have to
paint them yourself. What's remarkable to me is the general lack of torque steer.
Apparently, the Type R's unique front suspension reduces steering axis offset
and apparently that helps.
Look, virtually no torque steer.
Not bad for 306 horsepower. And now I should steer, there's a corner. In a track
environment the Civic Type R is fast, fun, and exceptionally well sorted. Yeah
understeer is still a thing but it's not nearly as bad as you might expect. If I
was looking for a track day car and I felt like driving the front wheels this
would be the one. Applied to a race track the Civic Type R's technical
prowess and comparatively light curb weight shine and yet it's equally at
home on the streets, supported by an odd measure of practicality. After all,
underneath all these pointy bits hides a Civic hatchback with abundant cargo
space and spacious rear seats, though I wish there were three instead of two.
For a little less than $35,000 the Honda Civic Type R includes LED
headlights and fog lights, smart key access with push button start, dual-zone
climate control, and a seven-inch touchscreen offering Apple CarPlay and
Android Auto but not a volume knob. The Honda Sensing suite of active safety
features found on most Civics is sadly not included on the Type R but you never
know what the future might hold. Despite its competitors lures the Honda
Civic Type R is a neat proposition. Spawned from a superb foundation, this
little guy is fast, engaging, reasonably-priced, and oddly sensible.
It's a glorious be-winged ball of fun. So what can we learn from the Civic Type
R?
One lesson is that from simple beginnings greatness can emerge.
Perhaps another more important lesson is that if you're going to look ridiculous
you better have a good reason.

The Strangler Pattern - Ep. 27 - Duration: 3:57.In today's episode, I'm going to talk about how we can apply the concept of small wins
when trying to replace an old, outdated system with a new one.
I'm going to talk about the Strangler Pattern.
There are many opportunities in software development to make use of small wins.
The process of story mapping and the acceptance test-driven development and walking skeleton
concepts that naturally arise from a well-executed story map are just a few examples of small
wins in the building of a new system or feature.
Small wins don't just apply to writing new systems though.
You can get small wins in making changes to existing systems using techniques like the
Mikado method and the Strangler pattern.
In his essay, Things You Should Never Do, Part I, Joel Spolsky told the story of Netscape's
three-year gap between releases when they decided to rewrite the code from scratch.
Joel calls this the single worst strategic mistake a software company can make.
I want to address the problem from a different perspective because sometimes the underlying
technology changes and you need to transition people to the new technology somehow.
There are good techniques for doing this, but let's look at the problems that occur
when you simply decide to build the new system alongside the old and hope to just cutover
to the new system when it is ready.
Picture a team that builds a software product for use within their own company.
Their customers within the company have been using the product for years and are used to
its flaws and have, over the years, learned to work around them.
The team that built the software may not even be aware of all the use cases that have arisen
since the product was originally released and people repurposed it for solving new problems.
Technology changes and the team is forced to rewrite the software to keep it running
at all.
A vendor the software depends on may being going out of business or the version of the
vendor's software is going out of service or becoming too expensive.
The team does a great job and builds a much better product in many ways.
There's just a few tiny use cases that the new software doesn't cover.
Now the team needs to get everyone at the company to start using the new software in
place of the old.
One possible way this story can go is the customers try the new software, realize it
doesn't cover all the cases they need and this impedes them from making a full cutover
to the new software.
Since no software is static, new requirements come in over time and these customers apply
lots of pressure to get them added to the original software but care little about when
such additions make it to the new codebase.
The codebases drift apart and the older codebase picks up bug fixes and features that haven't
made it to the new codebase.
Eventually the new codebase falls behind and the company needs to start paying the vendor's
higher fees to keep the old codebase on life support.
Could this have gone another way?
One option is the strangler pattern.
In the strangler pattern, you don't build a second system.
You build tiny replacement pieces of the old system that don't have the dependency on the
vendor (or whatever reason you want to get off the old system) and you kill the old piece
that you've replaced.
Eventually the old system is strangled, replaced piece-by-piece with the new system.
You get feedback all along the way if some use case is broken by any one of the changes
and there is no big cutover moment.
The aspect of this that relates to small wins is that with each part successfully replaced,
you have created a measurable win in that customers are no longer dependent on that
old code.
This is far more motivating than the hope that when a second independent system is finally
built it will be adopted by all.

A refutation of the Shia propaganda book titled 'Pashawar Nights" (with Eng subs) - Duration: 45:40.Refutation of the book Pashawar Nights (introduction) 1st lesson 2nd session
In the name of Allah, all praise is for Allah alone and may peace and blessings be upon on Muhammad the final messenger
Dear brothers, I have already given an explanation at the beginning of our first session
In particular after the Iranian revolution
we see the beginnings of an exportation, push and drive of the Shia creed (aqeedah)
We have discussed in detail regarding that revolution
When that revolution occurred, almost everyone in the ummah including us
due to the anti imperialist, anti Zionist, anti American rhetoric
the perception of a political will within the ummah that was able to stand on its own feet independently etc.
and similar observations and analysis resulted in the revolution being supported
we certainly knew about our disputes and differences
but turned a blind eye and said now is not the time to discuss our disputes and differences
the ummah has more important international and strategic problems
therefore let's not bring these disputes and differences into the spotlight
let's support this revolution
besides, they started their revolution with rhetoric like this and it's still continuing
the unity of the ummah, the big satan is America, damn Zionism, we're going to erase Israel from history, this type of rhetoric is still continuing today
those who have been swayed and influenced by the revolution have been so because of this rhetoric
this rhetoric at that time was very strong and influential, it was a time when the ummah was at its weakest
therefore it was supported.
But the time that has passed since has shown that
the revolution which occurred was not an Islamic revolution, but rather a Shia revolution
they have added this fact into their constitution
all of their works and efforts are in that direction
in every aspect of their activities aimed for the Islamic world at large, this effort grabs our attention
there is no activity and effort to unify the ummah and bring it together, on the contrary
there is a huge effort to Shiify (convert people to the Shia creed) the ummah
a huge chunk of the government budget is spent on this effort to Shiify the ummah and this is still continuing today
Whether its via the media, whether it's learning and teaching propaganda techniques or via other methods, this is continuing
And within time, as their efforts and activities manifested themselves and came to fruition,
it has become clear without a doubt that this is a movement to Shiify the ummah
Never at any point in history has there ever been a Sunni government, society or scholar who planned and made efforts to convert Shiite's into Sunni's
But whenever the Shiite's were presented with an opportunity to convert the Sunnis into Shiites they have made it there top priority which we are clearly seeing today.
this dark propaganda has reached such a point where
the Sunnis have become suspicious of their own identity, sources, historical experiences, aqeedah (creed), as a matter of fact have become ruptured
and started becoming Shia-like
Just the other day a letter arrived from the South East of Turkey or somewhere around that region
written by one of our colleagues
there is a serious effort taking place there to Shiify the people
books are being translated
propagandists are going to Iran, Baghdad, Kum, Tehran,Najaf who are receiving specialized education
then they come back to Turkey and strive with vigor to convert the people into Shiite's
They have the backing of government funds
they have unlimited resources at their disposal
This isn't the case only in Turkey but is occurring in all parts of the Islamic world.
It's like this in Europe, the Balkans, Central Asia and everywhere else.
Wherever you go around the Islamic world, you are faced with two strong influences. One of these are the Shia and the other are the Salafi's
and the clash between these two has resulted in the majority of the ummah stuck between them being toasted
The ummah is being forced to choose between the two and end up either 'Shiified' or a Salafi
and these two are a power and influence which feed off one another
You run away from one only to get caught in the other or from the other only to get caught in the former
Right now this is what we are witnessing in the Islamic world
The Salafi's and ISIS have taken ownership of Sunni Islam
the center of Shia Islam is already obvious (Iran)
you're either that or this. For over 1,300 years, the overwhelming majority of the ummah
have been represented by the Ahlus Sunnah who are nowhere to be found within these two
Where has this mass gone?
Where have the sources/references, history....
values, evidences/claims of this mass? Where has it gone? It's evaporated.
We are passing through very interesting days
We truly are passing through times full of important lessons
our libraries are full of books
however, we are in horrific ignorance regarding our identity, creed (aqeedah) history and experiences
There are massive cavities inside our minds, thoughts and mentalities
and these large cavities are being filled by some others, resulting in the firm ground we stand on becoming unstable
It is here where this book faces us in a forceful and striking manner as an example of Shiite propaganda methods
Pashawar Nights
Let us be clear at the outset that this book is a fabrication and fitnah
namely, in Pashawar, the Sunni's and Shiite's gathering and debating with each other for nights on end
the Shiite's destroying the arguments of the Sunni's, their evidences, sources, silencing them and defeating them did not take place
this is a fabricated fictitious book, an imagined scenario and set up
They want us to believe that this actually happened
from the perspective of people who are not equipped to detect the 'spirit' and subject matter in the book
who don't have access to Arabic sources
are influenced and swayed into believing the events in the book took place
We will see some concrete examples of this as we come across them
For example, when they relate a narration
if that narration is found in Sunni sources
they'll provide the name, author, the volume, page, history of publication in all its detail and entirety
If the narration is in Shia sources but not in Sunni sources
they'll provide the full reference details of the Shia sources and in between squeeze the names of Sunni sources in fleet without it being fully referenced
Therefore, the reader believes that the narration is found in Kulayni's book Al-Kafi
as well as Bukhari, as well as Tabari because their names are referenced
We once had a discussion along these lines with a Jafari (a sixer Shiite)
He provided references from a book similar to Pashawar Nights which he brought and showed me
and what I just previously outlined is found there
At the top is the text of the narration, at the bottom can be found numerous references
Among the references are both Shia and Sunni sources
The Shia sources are referenced in its entirety whereas the Sunni sources only have the names provided
Now this Jafari says to me "ya sheikh, take a look, this narration is also found in Bukahri"
The narration mentions Umar r.anhu (allegedly) kicking in Fatima's r.anha door
then he enters and jams her up against the wall and she dropped her child "take a look, this is also found in a Sunni source" the Jafari says.
How are you going to prove this isn't a narration found in Sunni sources?
I tell him "this narration is not found in Bukhari, Tabari and other sources"
"Are you telling me the writer is lying about this?" he responds
Is the author lying? Couldn't he have thought or known that someone would come forward and say this is not in Bukhari and I will be shamed
"Couldn't he have predicted this brother?"
Now how am I going to prove this to you?
Either we are going to sit and read the translated version of Bukhari together from beginning to end
then you will see that this narration is not found in Bukhari
or you have to trust my word, otherwise there is no other way I can prove this to you
or you have to go and research it yourself and clarify whether it is there or not
Now this type of deception and covering the truth with falsehood has not been seen in history.
another method
the text of the narration found in the Sunni sources are not the same as those in Shiite sources
from time to time, the Salafi's also do this as well
We have the source in our hands
the narration in our hands is narrated differently
The incident is there, but narrated differently
The narration is found in Shiite sources but in a different manner
He relates the narration from his own (Shiite) sources
then references our Sunni sources as well implying the incident narrated is also found there
the incident really is there but the text of the narration is not the same
We will see examples of this as we come across them
For example, in Imam Abu Hanifa's book titled El Fikh'ul Absat, the following passage is found
it says "Whoever says Allah s.w.t has settled/established (istiwa) on the throne
but I don't know whether the throne is on the ground or heavens has become a kaafir
This has come down to us via the Hanafi scholars generation after generation with a sound isnaad and is a passage contained in the copies of El Fikh'ul Absat
Then there's the copy of El Fikh'ul Absat found in the hands of the Salafi's
This has come since Ismail al Harawi
in there, we see additions to Imam Abu Hanifah's statement, to this specific sentence
Allegedly Imam Abu Hanifa said it like this
"whoever says Allah s.w.t has settled/established on the on the throne (arsh) but I don't whether the throne is on the ground or or heavens has become a kaafir
because, he would have denied Allah s.w.t from being/existing in the heavens
Now this addition
is found in al Harawi's copy, Ibn Taymiyyah got it off him and it's also found in his writings
but the Hanafi's, from Abu Hanifah onward, as transmitted with their own chain of transmission is not to be found
So it's similar to this incident "go and look at Abu Hanifah's El-Fikhul Absat , did he say this or not? Yes he did say it, however
he didn't say it like this
These additions which you have added are not there.
As the time and place comes, we will see similar things take place here in (Pashawar Nights)
They make additions
then they say "go and look at your own sources as it's also there
A third method of theirs (Shiite's)
There are certain statements where the meaning isn't apparent but rather closed and hidden
by interpreting these
by interpreting (ta'weel) them to suit their own calculated agenda and mission
they create evidence to support their own claims and arguments
and when they support these with other evidences, this then
becomes evidence which leaves no room for suspicion or doubt in the readers mind.
A famous and well-known example of this is the narration of the pen and paper incident.
This is also found in our sources
When Rasulullah s.a.w was on his death bed
he said bring me something to write on and a pen, I'm going to write something for all of you so as not to go astray after me.
Umar r.a. intervened and said we have the book of Allah in our hands
we have no need for this
some of them said let's provide it and others said let's not provide it upon which Rasulullah s.a.w said
"this type of discussion/quarreling in the presence of a messenger in a setting like this is inappropriate, leave me alone" and the quarreling ended here.
A lot can be said about this narration and when it comes up which is mentioned in the book (Pashawar Nights) we will discuss it inshallah
But, what was Rasulullah s.a.w going to have written here?
of course the Shiite's say he was going to have written that Ali r.a. should be the khalifa/leader after him
when Umar r.anhu understood this, he prevented it from happening
even at the expense of going against the order of Rasulullah s.a.w, Umar r.anhu intervened and this matter concluded like this.
Now does the incident exist? Yes, it exists. Did it occur? Yes, it occurred.
However, how do they know what Rasulullah s.a.w was going to have written?
You say that he was going to appoint Ali r.a as the khalifah and was going to have that written. Then I will say no he was going to appoint Hz Abubakr r.a
How are we going to prove this?
Therefore, referencing various narrations like this where the meaning isn't apparent and clear
and supporting it with other so called evidences are attempts at obtaining evidence
another method of theirs
involves using narrations which are completely fabricated and concocted to support and provide evidence for their claims
this is where
the matter between the Sunni's and Shiite's are locked and why disputes and disagreements can't be solved.
The Shiites say you deny and don't accept so and so transmitters of narrations, you reject them and say these transmitters can't be trusted and are unreliable
whereas we say these transmitters are reliable and cannot be ignored who make up the bulk and foundation of our corpus relating to narrations/hadith
however important Bukhari is for you, Kulayni is for us
therefore, the fact that you find them untrustworthy doesn't apply to us, for you it's like that, for us it's like this
and finally, a different but very important, probably the most important of their propaganda methods for us
We fall into many errors regarding this point
They bring forth various narrations from our corpus of narration books, history books
these narrations are as they say
no tampering has taken place with the text
but there are problems with its chain of narration
without highlighting this, for example, they'll say so and so narration is found in Balazuri's Ansab al Ashraf or it's found in Tabari's history
it's found in Ibn Abi Shaybah's Musannaf
Abdurrazzak's Musannaf, look these are from your sources claim the Shiite's
This is where the youngsters in particular start slipping, they'll say "ya sheikh these narrations are from our sources, how are we supposed to respond to this?"
Now brothers this is where
for centuries, the abandoned and forgotten disciplines of jarh wa tadeel and critique of transmitters of narrations comes into play
This field of study and discipline, especially by those who specialize and are heavily involved with the study of hadith/traditions/narrations
must revive and bring these areas of study and discipline to the forefront
if this doesn't happen, then this matter will keep giving us plenty of headaches
you've probably heard, there's a jamaat here in Turkey
who some time ago said books on Islam don't contain fabricated hadith and narrations
they said this to exonerate and purify books on Islam but without realizing, they were also exonerating fabricated hadith as well
No, any book on Islam, related to narrations/hadith
as long as they have come down to us with a chain of narrators
nullifies and negates our concern regarding who the author of the book is
instead, what concerns us is the soundness and reliability of the narration/hadith itself
brothers this is the case for Bukhari, for Kutub i sitte
all other books of hadith
including history and books on tabaqat
There is a widely held general view in society
they'll say Bukhari and Muslim don't contain any weak hadith
Now don't be surprised if particular Salafi's or Shiite's edit out all I've said previously and start this seminar from this point forward
No brothers, there are hadeeth in Bukhari and Muslim which have been deliberated on (found weak)
but these narrations are firstly, not fabricated, secondly, they do not constitute the foundation of the book in relation to its methodology (usool)
these books contain two types of hadith
all hadith books are like this, they contain two types of hadith
this can especially be seen from scholars of hadith who have set out to collect and write saheeh hadith
1. The narrations/hadith which form the methodological foundation of the book
Imam Bukhari let's say in Kitabut Tawheed Kitaabul Iman, Kitaabus Salah, Kitaabul Fazail
will narrate various hadith
these hadith will form the basis and foundation for that specific chapter and topic
he'll also narrate various hadith with the intention to
support and reinforce those foundational hadith
we call these hadith types Shawahid (witnesses)
So there are hadith which form the methodological foundation and there are hadith classified as Shawahid
All of the hadith which form the methodological foundation are saheeh and none of them are weak but among the Shawahid there are a few weak hadith
2.
Regarding hadith related to the virtue of actions, the general attitude and approach of the Ahlus Sunnah scholars of hadith have not been extremely stringent
Unlike hadith which pertain to laws and aqeedah, they have been a bit more tolerant and lax towards these hadith
and have not been as critical in relation to its Jarh tadeel and kept the boundaries a bit more wider
on account of this, narrations about the virtues of actions and chapters on Targhib wa at-Tarhib
don't possess a level of soundness like the hadith which form the methodological foundations
In these areas we would run into weak hadith
In this context, within Sahih Bukhari, we are able to see weak hadith regarding the virtues of actions and good deeds
They are also found in Sahih Muslim too
Therefore when we say there aren't any weak hadith in Bukhari and Muslim, we are referring to the hadith which form the methodological foundation
We are referring to the hadith which form the main pillars of the book, otherwise, besides these hadith, it is possible to find weak hadith although they themselves are not extremely weak
if this is the case with Bukhari and Muslim, then it is considerably more so with other hadith books
In other hadith books, more weak hadiths can be found
In Imam Malik's Muwatta, there are 30 or so balaghat types of hadith
Imam Malik narrated it with the wording "balagha ni" without providing a chain of transmission
"according to the way it has reached me, Rasulullah s.a.w. said..." said Imam Malik
"or so and so sahaba did so and so" said Imam Malik
we call these Balaghat and there are 30 or so of them
if I remember correctly, there are approximately 37 of them
These balaghat types of hadith, later on by scholars of hadith
researched them
besides four of them, they found mawsool or muttasil (uninterrupted, unbroken) chains of transmission for all of them
Imam Malik said balaghani, but other scholars found and narrated that hadith with its full chain of transmission
therefore, they said these hadith are not weak
but they couldn't find a sound chain of transmission for four of them
so weak hadith can be found in the Muwatta as well
Then what are these hadith in relation to? Like we said before, these hadith do not impact the methodological foundational hadith and main purpose of the book
when we explain the matter and look at it from this perspective
yes, it's possible to find weak hadith in ibn Abi Shayba, Tabari, Abdurrazzak, Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi, Nasai, ibn Majah. These do exist.
Therefore, when they bring a narration like this and stick it in our face
we need to be sufficient and able to determine its soundness and critique its chain of narrators
and when we are unable to do this, it is precisely here where the youngsters slip and get caught up thinking and believing
"well because this narration is found in my Sunni sources, this means the Shiite's are right in this matter"
so Umar r.anhu actually did threaten Fatima r.anha
When Abubakr r.anhu became the kahlifa
Ali and Zubair r.anhuma
were consulting with Fatima r.anha and going in and out consulting with her but they weren't declaring their allegiance (biat) to Abu Bakr r.a
Umar r.a. goes to Fatima r.anha and says
"your dad in my eyes is the highest ranked out of all the people"
after him, you are ranked the highest of people in my eyes
but do you see those two, Ali and Zubair
they are constantly going in and out seeing you
and withholding from allying themselves with Abubakr r.anhu
I swear to Allah
I have given the order to my men, if they continue coming in and out consulting with you, I'm going to have this house burnt to the ground, be warned.
On account of this, our mother Fatima tells Ali and Zubair r.anhuma to not see her, so they stop going and immediately go and declare their allegiance to Abu Bakr. This narration is found in our sources.
Just because this is the case, are we going to say that the Shia are right?
we're not going to fall into this trap
In order to not fall in this trap, we need to revive the discipline of jarh wa tadeel and bring it to the forefront of the ummah
What is the soundness of these narrations in relation to its chain of transmission?
this must be stringently critiqued and analysed in a detailed manner
then put it out there. If it's the truth it's the truth, if not then it's not.
But till now
with regards to hadith like this, after detailed investigations, I didn't come across a single hadith which had a chain of transmission which was sound
Every single one was problematic in relation to the soundness of its chain of transmission.
The fact that this narration is found in this source or that source in so and so's Sunni scholar's book is not sufficient to solve the matter
the soundness must be proved
Therefore these 5 propaganda methods
which the Shia adopt within the context of narrations in order to confuse the Sunni's
will come across us in this book (Pashawar Nights)
The narrations which we will face are either mujmal (meaning isn't apparent or clear) which they interpret (ta'weel) to suit themselves
either it isn't found in our sources but they say it is
either it is found in our sources but has come via different ways
either it's different in our sources and different in their sources
or its found in our sources but the chain of transmission is problematic
all of these methods
their deception and ploys can only be exposed by investigating, analysing, and in particular, critiquing the chains of transmission
Inshallah this is what we will attempt to do here
Let me add one more thing
under the guise of not disrupting the unity of the ummah
at this moment there are more important issues on hand
don't stir madhap fanaticism and other similar sentiments
various unwary people do not want these realities to be exposed and prefer we turn a blind eye to all of this
They say things like "aren't there other matters to deal with, why are you occupying yourself with the Shia.
We don't have neither the right nor the authority to show tolerance in this matter
The issue is directly related to creed (aqeedah)
without solving this
believing in the possibility of a strategic partnership
working together, brotherhood and unity will result in serious heedlessness and unwariness
this won't be achievable, historical experience shows this
and by sacrificing a principle and pillar of eeman and aqeedah, you will not reach the truth
We can never succeed in this world and the hereafter by sacrificing and turning a blind eye to a pillar of our aqeedah
This is a deen
This is a deen, not an ideology
Writers with ideological leanings in the past
have said times have changed, let's change this point and do it like this, change that point and do it like that, deen is not something like this
Our deen has its rigid and fixed pillars
if you believe and submit to those pillars, you'll become a Muslim
but if you say no I have issue with these pillars and try to bargain, then this isn't called being a Muslim but it's called something else
Therefore, in the name of the unity of the ummah and other similar sentiments, we have no right nor authority to sacrifice various concrete truths
By sacrificing these, we cannot get anywhere and we will not gain any blessing nor grace.
The moment you categorise these under the list of irrelevant, then that
brings to the forefront what we call an identity crisis
500-600 years ago, Iran was a Sunni dominant geography
Yes, Sunni Islam was dominant there
However, within history, whatever happened happened and that region was transformed into a Shia dominant region
How did this happen? It happened just like this
we said "ohh it's ok, no problem, no harm done, there are more imporant matters now, let's not delve into these matters". This is how it happened
It will continue happening this way from now on
30 years ago in Turkey
yes, in the East of Turkey, there are Jafari's in Kars, Igdir etc. in that region there are Jafari's
Allah knows best but they formed approximately 3-5% of the entire population of Turkey
But now, wherever you go within this Sunni region, we are faced with them like thorns
what's happening?
a Sunni society is becoming Shia-like
We are experiencing a loss of identity
and this is how it happens
When we're unable to properly and wisely list the points of relevance and importance
changes start taking place within the identity of society, there are changes and transformations that take place in the 'spirit' of that society
You might say "so what, what's going to happen?"
As long as the society is Muslim, why should it matter whether they are Sunni's or Shiite's?
you might debate this and discuss what's wrong with this? what will happen?
Brothers maybe we might construct our world and nothing might happen
By becoming Shiite's and allowing ourselves to come under the influence of Iran and Iraq in our region
maybe we could construct a better world, a more comfortable life. It's possible for us to think this.
But what's going to happen in the hereafter?
Though there are tens of verses in the Quran where the sahaba/companions have been bestowed with honor, do you think we will be able to gain the approval of Allah by swearing and slandering them?
though the Quran has exonerated our mother Aisha r.anha from wrong doing, is it possible to look at Rasulullah's s.a.w. face by slandering and defaming her?
Judgment exists in the hereafter
there are rigid truths
if our eyes slip and looks a second time, we are going to give account and be judged about it, this is a weakness and sin related to actions and deeds
do you think you will not be judged according to defects found in your aqeedah?
Do you think judgement is lighter in matters of aqeedah as opposed to actions?
no, it's not like that
The judgement of your aqeedah is tougher than your actions.
Allah says I am pleased with them and they are pleased with Me about the sahaba
and we are going to say most of them became faasik's (sinners), as a matter of fact, go a little further and say they became kaafir's
Allah says He's pleased with them, but we are going to say they became kaafir's
Where can we go with this in akhira? What can we hold on to?
Therefore the matter in front of us is a problem which cannot be neglected both from a worldly and hereafter perspective
This is the main reason why we have brought this matter to the forefront.
I've already mentioned it in the first session, unfortunately in this country,
when I ask for an explanation of who the Shiite's are, what is there history, what are their sources, what's their methodology, what's their branches, what madhap's do they have.
In order to explain and teach these matters
if we leave exceptions aside, we don't have anybody, nor an institution who can satisfactorily put forth an explanation in in all its detail and entirety
But in contrast to this, in Iran
they have developed institutions whose sole aim is dedicated to researching, studying and analysing our Sunni sources
In other words that is their job, they sit down with our Sunni sources...
these are institutions I'm talking about, they aren't the efforts of certain individuals
there are institutions solely created for this purpose
they sit from morning to night
they are analyzing our sources
word by word, sentence by sentence, page by page they are analyzing
From there they bring out ammunition and arms for themselves
then use it against the ummah like this book (Pashawar Nights)
There are institutions solely created for this purpose. In Iran there is a hadith university.
Hadith university
In Turkey
because the sciences of hadith
has severely been neglected and is still continuing to be neglected, we don't know what this is and what's going on
in Saudi Arabia they have Orientalist institutes
to research this, they have set up special institutions
You won't be able to find a single institution like this in Turkey
You won't find a single institution which researches the Shiites. At most there would've been one or two symposiums and that's about it
However these Shiites are a reality right next to our doorstep
We need to get to know them
Right at this moment, our politics is concerned with them
they are the unseen topic occupying our current affairs
however we don't have the intention to equip ourselves to deal with this matter. We don't have this concern.
Because of this, a few seminars which we will provide here will not sufficiently close the cavities in relation to this. Ours is simply a small effort in this regard
at the very least, for the sake of our responsibilities
when we are judged in the hereafter
for the sake of having something to say in the hereafter
it is something we will strive to do
When we do this
like I said, madhap fanaticism, causing division and chaos within the ummah absolutely are not part of our intentions
Quite simply there is an allegation against us and this allegation needs to be answered.
Just as the people who throw these allegations aren't viewed as causing madhap fanaticism
we expect to be seen in the same light
However much they are seen as defending the unity of the ummah, we too must be seen as the same.
A second point
when we do this refutation
we are not going to insult, swear, throw accusations, speak baseless without referencing what we say
everything we say by the permission of Allah will be referenced
we are speaking with the knowledge that all of this is being recorded
someday if someone throws an opposing claim to what we say, with Allah's permission, we will be ready to answer them back
As mentioned in the first session, this book is a fabrication/concoction
it is based on fiction
this debate never occurred
it has been depicted as if it has occurred, we will accept this as if it did occur
we are going to accept it did happen, we are not going to go into detail and question whether it happened or not
and what concerns us will be the allegations/claims made in the book
One last thing I would like to say
we don't carry the intention of trying to convert the Shiite's into Sunni's
I don't want to be thought of as someone who started this path with this intention
We only have one purpose
there are a number of claims/allegations against Sunnis, we will answer them by the permission Allah
Otherwise," they slandered the Shiite's, they did so and so to the Ahlu Bayt" because these types of accusations will come within time
We never have concerned ourselves with these types of slanders and will not concern ourselves from now on either
I felt the need to highlight our intention here one more time
And one more final point brothers
we the ahlu sunnah within our history have never had any problems or issues with the ahlu bayt.
We never displayed any lack of respect to the ahlu bayt and we never tolerated those who did.
The ahlu bayt is one thing
Shia is something else
Under the guise of supporting the ahlu bayt, loving them and upholding their rights, the things that are being done in their name have nothing to do with the ahlu bayt themselves.
Therefore, this refutation will not equate to refuting or rejecting the ahlu bayt
Our attitude towards the ahlu bayt just like throughout our Ahlus Sunnah history will be of utmost respect
We reject the claim made by the Shia that they are defending the ahlu bayt
they are acting in the name of the ahlu bayt, yes but we say they aren't defending the ahlu bayt but rather, exploiting them
Because they legitimise themselves by exploiting the ahlu bayt, that is why they rave on about the ahlu bayt, otherwise there is no relation between the Shia and the ahlu bayt.
I'm not sure if any of you have read the Rihla monthly journal regarding the Shiite's but we also attempted to bring this forth there as well
The Ahlu Bayt imam's themselves were fed up from this group.
The ahlu bayt imam's themselves distanced and abandoned themselves from this group. This is something interesting like this
Take it from Husein r.a. up to his son Zaynal Abidin, from his son Muhammed Bakir to his son Imam Jafar
from all of them, directly from Shia sources, they have said "we have had enough we have had enough of these people (Shia)
therefore, where is defending the rights of the ahlu bayt?
where is the imaamiyah twelver madhap?
this is a propaganda technique, this is a means to legitimise themselves
within history, the ahlu sunnah oppressed the ahlu bayt
the Shiite's are defending the rights of the ahlu bayt and protecting their legacy
this is what is being depicted
but this depiction has no reality
It could be said
"well if you don't have any issues with the ahlu bayt then why doesn't your sources contain many narrations from the ahlu bayt?"
The reason for this is obvious
we are unable to guarantee and determine whether the narrations attributed to the imam's of the ahlu bayt are actually from them or not
This is why within our sources, our scholars have acted very stringently in this matter
Critiquing and analyzing a narration has necessarily been applied here as well
When a narration is attributed to Husein, Hasan, Ali Zeynel Abidin, Muhammed Bakir, Imam Jafar may Allah be pleased with all of them
we will not hold the narration in high sanctity and reverence. We will rather look at the soundness in its chain of transmission
We will look at the transmitters and pass judgement based on that
For a Shiite, these transmitters might be held in high esteem but for us they might not
because we apply our own criteria here, every narration attributed to the imams of the ahlu bayt are not accepted and this is quite natural
Otherwise we don't have any issues with the ahlu bayt
In reality, the term ahlu bayt as I have tried to elucidate in that writing in the Rihla journal
the term ahlu bayt specifically being attributed and limited to the lineage starting with Ali and his Son Husein and continuing via this path
though it's not like this based on the book, nor is it a principle, the fact that it's like this in actuality should not confuse us, the term ahlu bayt has a much wider meaning
Especially if we look at the use of the term in the Quran, it also encapsulates the pure clean wives of Rasulullah s.a.w
The righeous and clean wives of Rasulullah s.a.w who are the mothers of this ummah are from the ahlu bayt
we are not therefore going to be unwary and leave this term at the mercy and exploitation of the Shiite's
If only we had the time and resources
we could have started from the formation of the Shia, looking at the causes which brought them into existence, the beginning of their history and come down chronologically to these days analyzing every facet
so that we can acquaint ourselves with this Shiite matter which is extremely important
but it seems we are not going to have time for this here

Side By Side - CLS, South Northamptonshire | Full version | Orchestras Live - Duration: 5:00.An exciting feature of this particular project is that we're not working with
the people who are already members of our senior county ensembles or the
County Youth Orchestra, on this occasion we're working with members of our
Saturday centers, young people who are at the beginning of their musical journey
who haven't had the same opportunities and experiences as the older players.
I was asked by City of London Sinfonia and Orchestras Live to come up to
Northamptonshire to work with the music service with three Saturday schools in
different parts of the county and to bring them together to make one big
orchestra with a new piece.
We've had limited time together we've had three
days working with the young people so the first day was a creative session before
Christmas and I brought some starting points with a wide variety of different standards.
I wrote this piece over Christmas and then came back worked with
each of those groups separately, there's a whole series of different parts which
go together, the young people have chosen which part they've all found their place
they haven't played together yet so we'll be coming together on the concert day
to play this piece with 13 professional musicians from City of London Sinfonia.
You can see the way they work, see how a professional orchestra rehearse when they're all together.
Please do take that opportunity if you can.
It's been really exciting today. I want to play a rock band so I'm learning like how to play
different music but it gives me a better experience.
I really enjoyed it because music is like a passion it's something that I want to do and carry on with as I'd like
to be in a professional orchestra.
John is a great composer and he's written so
many like amazing pieces before.
Working with John has been a really good
experience for all of us I think and we've never really played with a full
professional orchestra I can't wait.
I'm really looking forward to it nobody
really knows what its gonna sound like I've got an idea of what it should sound
like in my head but whatever that is I'm sure it'll be slightly different and
that's a wonderful thing about bringing people together
This will be the first time everybody's been together hopefully it'll just all
slot together like a metronome.
Hi everybody, if you'd like to come and sit just behind the
musicians, you can get quite close to them.
Sitting there listening to the music was absolutely amazing I want to play professionally.
Working in the community with young people, it's very
important to us and also to leave a legacy so we're not just going in and
playing with them but there's a piece that they're involved with, they're so
enthused they're so on the ball they know what's going on some of them came along
to the rehearsal and it was nice to chat to them and get to know them.
Very exciting, people who engage really positively we've never had a project before so it's
been really interesting to see the children engage and it's been great to have
outside inputs into what we normally do it's just given another level to what goes on.
It's just fantastic to work alongside the professional players and
particularly to watch John taking the children's ideas and I was able to say
to my pupil, "that was your idea and now it's in a living piece" and that's really special.
And hopefully it will encourage other people to try a bit of improvisation actually, and especially a string player
I'd like to bring them together in these big groups on a regular basis because that's something
that the smaller centers can't do.
If there was another project like this I would like help with it
Thanks to Orchestras Live for making it all happen.
I think it's the partnership that's really made it happen
They could all feel really part of something big
and that was the point of the project for me
Their parents have also had this
orchestral experience and hopefully their parents are going to go away and keep
supporting the young people by transporting them and paying their fees.
We need to sustain this. This kind of work is really really important
I certainly do think it was value for money they're our future and they
must be given as many opportunities as possible.
Fabulous piece of music brilliantly
played, what more could we ask?
and it's just been inspirational
it was incredible
I'd normally find it difficult to go these orchestras,
they're amazing you just have to be prepared for a
little bit of fear
yeah I played in it, it was really good, really enjoyed it
It was an absolute pleasure to work with these young people
I think music just makes everyone happy
