Liverpool 4-1 West Ham: Player Ratings
Liverpool romped to a comfortable 4-1 win over West Ham on Saturday, with the majestic front three once again stealing the headlines.
Loris Karius (out of 10) – 7. It was a relatively quiet afternoon for Karius, who was afforded the luxury of watching Liverpool dominate much of the game.
Two good saves denied Marko Arnautovic in the first-half, however, and he is cutting a more authoritative figure with each week that passes. His much-improved run of form carries on.
Trent Alexander-Arnold – 8. Preferred to Joe Gomez at right-back, the teenagers attacking thrust and quality on the ball made him a better option against a defence-minded West Ham side.
Alexander-Arnold made some great bursts down the right flank, delivering several appealing crosses, and there was such maturity to his play. He really does look a special young talent.
Joel Matip – 6. Matip came back in for Dejan Lovren, but on current evidence, the latter is the better option.
The Cameroonian didnt do a lot wrong, but he never exuded confidence, and a tame attempt at a tackle led to Arnautovic almost opening the scoring. A slightly shaky presence.
Virgil van Dijk – 7. Barring one lapse in concentration right at the beginning of proceedings, Liverpools record signing was a class act at the back.
His ability on the ball was there for all to see, while his aerial presence in attack saw one header land into Adrians arms. He will experience tougher days at the office, but he was largely faultless.
Andrew Robertson – 9. What a signing this lad is.
This was another performance full of energy, desire and quality from Robertson, with crisp passing and pace both on display. Some of his crossing was also excellent, and he never stopped running. The Scot is now Liverpools undisputed first-choice left-back.
Emre Can – 7. Having missed the 5-0 win over Porto through suspension, Can sat deep in midfield at the expense of Jordan Henderson.
The German was never at his swashbuckling best, not that he needed to be in a more refined tole, but he contributed both defensively and going forward.
Can struck first at Anfield with a precise header, registering his sixth goal of a strong season – lets hope its not his last on Merseyside. James Milner – 8.
After a Man of the Match showing in Portugal, Milner stood out once again.
The veteran found himself in the wars, going down after reckless tackles from Mark Noble and Pablo Zabaleta, but he didnt let it affect him in a dynamic outing.
There was nothing too spectacular about Milner, barring one delightful Cruyff turn, but he did what he has made a career out of: being a reliable, intelligent presence. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7.
Oxlade-Chamberlain hasnt really kicked on after a great game against Man City last month, but he grew in stature as the match progressed on Saturday.
Deployed in a central attacking midfield berth, the Englishman was both neat and tidy when required, but also purposeful when space opened up.
He delivered the corner that Can scored from and found Salah for his goal – his fourth and fifth Premier League assists of the campaign.
Mohamed Salah – 7. The Reds man of the moment wasnt at his unplayable best, but thats not to say he wasnt a constant menace.
His speed, both in legs and in thought, seemed on another level to any Hammers defender, and he hit the post in just the third minute.
Salah wasnt to be denied his 31st goal of 2017/18, though, tucking a Tottenham-esque finish past Adrian.
Sadio Mane – 7. After his Champions League hat-trick last week, Mane cut a more confident figure at Anfield, but he didnt shine as bright as others.
He linked up well with Robertson down the left, often forming an effective passing triangle with Milner, and although three opportunities went begging, he got his goal to round off the scoring. Roberto Firmino – 9 (Man of the Match).
Another day, another superb Firmino performance. So much of Liverpools good play came through him, and constant lever touches, unselfish movement and an admirable work ethic were all on show,.
He slotted into an empty Kop net to put the hosts 3-0 up, completing a fantastic individual display. Starting XI Average Rating: 7. Manager.
Jurgen Klopp – 8. This was a routine afternoon for Klopp, who got a top performance out of his team and nailed his team selection.
Using Alexander-Arnold over Gomez was spot on, and Milners industry and Oxlade-Chamberlains pace were both good additions. Sometimes, its easy to take this world-class manager for granted.

Former Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal 'in frame to replace Antonio Conte at Chelsea'
LOUIS VAN GAAL is the shock name in the frame to replace Antonio Conte should he leave Chelsea, according to reports.
Blues chief Roman Abramovich is expected to once again part with a manger within the first 12 months of the clubs title defence following a break down in relationship with the Italian.
Louis van Gaal is being considered as replacement for Antonio Conte at Chelsea.
Louis van Gaal with former Chelsea boss and fellow Dutchman Guus Hiddink.
And The Mirror report Van Gaal, 66, is being considered as a potential replacement.
Chelsea have previous when it comes to hiring an experienced Dutch manager, with Guus Hiddinkhaving been swooped in twice in the past.
Van Gaal is desperate to return to the England following his bitter exit from Old Trafford.
He insisted: "I'd be interested in a Premier League club where I'd have the chance to get one over on Manchester United.
Louis van Gaals last match as Manchester United boss was 2016 FA Cup final.
Should Barcelona knock Chelsea out of the Champions League, Conte could face the chop and Van Gaal could come in as a safe pair of hands until the end of the season — just as Hiddink did.
Van Gaal was Uniteds second manager after Sir Alex Ferguson, replacing David Moyes in the summer of 2014.
In his first season, he guided the club back into the Champions League, before winning the FA Cup in his second.
However, just days after that Wembley victory over Crystal Palace, he was ruthlessly dismissed and replaced by Jose Mourinho.

Oh, please! Look at this! That's so typically Caro!
She leaves the roof open again.
As if it never rains around here.
And of course there are no asshole who steal something or piss in the car just out of spite.
Mrs. Melzer doesn't know aynthing like that.
Because a Porsche is for free.
So you have to do it then. - What?
Pissing in it.
She won't learn otherwise.
Are you crazy?
I'm not going to piss into my own car.
Coward!
No.
No. I'm not gonna do it.
No. It goes against my moral understanding.
You're joking, right?
It would break my heart.
Fine, I do it then.
Don't you dare!
You can't understand it because you're not... you're not a real...
Not a real what? A real man? So you think gays don't care about cars?
Well, I mean... car is rather manly occupied.
And gay isn't rather manly occupied?
Look, you're driving a electric bike.
And then you voluntarily wear this... this...
What? Gay helmet? - Yes.
I'm sorry, but it really looks gay.
And a Porsche doesn't löook gay?
You're really a special kind of idiot.
It's a Porsche Boxter.
It's a girl's Porsche.
Caro drives it not me.
I make you a propostion.
We both piss in it together.
Stop it now.
It's enough.
Besides, Dieter West is coming soon.
Wonderful, so he can take a picture and write a nice story about it.
Look!
There! Look. Look at this.
The car was just in the repair shop and she managed to drive a dent in it.
And she doesn't even realize it.
I can't believe it.
You're changing the subject.
The world is in peril.
How can someone drive an ugly car like that.
That's just degrading.
Not everybody defines himself over his car.
Or his electric bike.
Goodday, gentlemen. - Goodday.
What's up?
He doesn't want to piss in his Porsche.
Should I?
So... if would suggest we go into the house and talk like grown-ups.
Just let us tease you a little.
Please.
Two losers want to get back to the road of success.
Am I getting this right?
And I'm supposed to help you two assholes?
We're not losers.
We just wisely took a step back. Temporarily.
You're enjoying this, Dieter. Don't you?
You really like it to see me lie on the ground, don't you?
Oh come on, you also never handled your opponents gingerly.
And that won't change so quickly.
Listen up, Dieter.
I've always helped you when you needed informations or a nice story.
And now we need your help for a change.
We're not very involved in current affairs right now.
And you always hear things.
So just let us listen in on it.
If you hear where two capable interest representatives are needed.
Then you'll just give me a sign and we go for a nice dinner.
How does that sound?
What was that?
Caro?
By the way, what says Felix Heldt about you ruining him with that story about the switched babies?
Fuck off, Joachim.
You're no longer a chancellor candidate.
You only a gay, powerless swine.
Maybe we should talk with Felix Heldt.
I'm sure he would like some revenge.
After all you didn't have to pay for all the botox and that butt lifting.
Does your boss know about that?
I made a mistake.
We should have pissed in his car.
I think it's better if you leave now.
I think she knows.
You shot Wali.
By accident.
You ran Georg against a wall.
On purpose.
What?
You always said it was an accident.
Of course, I'm not stupid. The truth is... I just had enough.
Well, I didn't do any different.
I just had enough too.
That this swine would just get away with it.
He killed Joschi after all.
I ran Georg against a wall because he deserved it.
You shot Wali dead... - I didn't shoot her dead.
Tried to shoot her.
I wanted to shoot Schnitzler.
You can still do that.
What?
Kill Schnitzler.
Then Wali will certainly forgive you.
Because you showed her that you made a mistake and made up for it.
You're actually serious.
Yes. And believe me, you'll feel much better afterwards.
I know what I'm talking about.
I can't tell how often I still regret that I didn't fully step on the gas in that garage.
You should really drink less eggnog.
No, I should finish what I've started.
And I advise you to do the same.

sign and cross bucks if you guys notice on the Google Maps Street View for flaghole
Road prior to like 2011 2012 the track ended
right just shy of flaghole Road they built this spur sometime after 2011 2012

Why do phones get so much slower over time? - Planned Obsolescence or tech fact? - Duration: 6:15.
If you have ever owned a smart phone, which is almost a certainty for most people nowadays,
you have probably noticed that they get noticeably slower and less responisve over time.
So, let's take a look at why that is.
At the sound of what I've just said, many people will jump up and shout "planned obsolescence",
but we'll leave that for the end of the video.
Right now, we're going to look at the actual technical reasons for this apparent decrease
in performance.
Let's dig in.
First of all, the hardware in your phone is most likely just as powerful as it was when
you first bought it.
What has changed is the software.
You see, a lot of apps don't actually close when you exit them and instead continue running
in the background.
In this state, they use less RAM and processing power, but they are nonetheless taking up
a percentage of those valuable system resources.
The catch here is that, when you buy your phone, it doesn't come with a lot of apps
installed.
Sure enough, you have the usual youtube, facebook and any other software that your phone carrier
saw fit to put on your device.
However, this is nothing compared to the stuff that most people end up installing on their
phones over time.
And, as with anything, these background processes, while they may start small, can have a pretty
big impact on your phone's performance if you allow them to build up.
But let's assume that you are a knowledgeable and careful phone user who likes to meticulously
manage their installed applications.
This may will still not save you.
Mobile technology is constantly advancing, with faster and faster processors, graphics
chips and phones getting more and more RAM memory and storage space.
This means that newer phones will undoubtedly have superior performace compared to your
1 or 2 year old device.
And, while it may seem that this should in no way affect you, that is not quite true,
because apps on your device and even the operating system (Android or iOS) will keep receiving
updates.
Sadly, those updates are designed with newer and faster phones in mind and might not be
optimised for slightly older and slower decives such as yours.
This means that they might use a bigger percentage of your phone's resources, consequently
not running as efforlessly as before.
One other thing working against you is the actual storage space on your phone.
You see, phones use NAND Flash memory for their storage, which might sound familiar
if you know a thing or two about PC solid state drives.
In fact, your phone's storage bares a lot of similarities to those SSD's, which is
great, because that means that it's really blazing fast.
However, another important thing that you have to keep in mind about SSDs is that, due
to the way that they store data, they tend to get slower and slower the closer they get
to being full.
And, while that may not be that big of an issue for phones with 64 or 128GB of storage,
those stuck with 16GB phones may end up constantly having their storage space almost but not
quite full, thus making their phones feel a lot slower.
So what can you do?
Well, there's a few things.
First of all, if you notice that you have installed apps that you're not using, uninstall
them and don't let them build up.
Secondly, clean your phone every once in a while.
And by that I don't mean taking a vacuum cleaner to it.
What i mean is clearing up your storage space.
Delete the cache memory that has built up, back your photos up to your computer or to
a service such as google photos and then delete them from your phone, remove any files that
are no longer needed or that have been left behind after an app uninstall and so on.
If all else fails, you can just back up your contacts and data and then perform a factory
data reset, which ought to make your phone speedy once more.
And now, here's the thing that everyone thinks is happening but no manufacturers have
admitted to.
Or at least not until recently, but more on that later.
Many people claim that phone manufacturers artificially limit their older phones' performace
through software updates to make people buy their newer products.
And, in a turn of fate that shocked absolutely nobody, this has so far been vehemently denied
by phone manufacturers.
And then Apple pulled an Apple and, after being asked by an online news publication
about their odd slow-downs, admitted to throttling devices with older batteries.
What seems pretty odd is that in december 2017, just over a year after it's release,
they started doing the same to the iPhone 7, with them openly admitting that they were
planning to continue doing this to newer phones as time went on.
At first, this seems very slimy and also quite stupid.
However, there are actual technical reasons behind it.
What may or may not come as a surprise, is that these reasons just make the whole situation
look slimier and more stupid.
Here's what is actually going on: Lithium-Ion batteries degrade over time when it comes
to the peak power that they can supply.
What apple was doing was it was running its phones so close to the battery's power ceiling
in order to be able to claim that they had the fastest phone, that the moment the battery
started wearing down, it could no longer support the phone's power demands.
Therefore, the phone would suffer unexpected shutdowns when the battery failed to deliver
the expected juice to the components.
To avoid this, apple slows down their phones after a while to make them use less power.
The stupid slimy thing about this whole thing is that Apple is advertising and selling their
products as the best and fastest on the market, knowing full well that that is only going
to be true for a few months to a year, because the phone's speeds aren't sustainable
and they would be hammering the performance of the same phone soon enough in order to
make sure that this artificial marketing boost doesn't lead to device malfunctions.
So, big thumbs down to apple for this one and also to any other manufacturers who are
doing it and had enough marketing brains not to disclose it to the full public.

Samsung Galaxy S9 HANDS-ON Impressions! - Duration: 11:01.
- Samsung just announced its brand new
flagship devices in the Galaxy S9 and S9+.
I've gone hands-on with these two brand new devices,
and in this video I give you a first look at some of the
stand out features on Samsung's brand new smartphones.
What's goin' on Tech Squad, Andru Edwards here,
editor-in-chief at GearLive.com.
If this is your first time here,
this channel's all about tech, gadgets, and gaming.
So, if you're into that kind of stuff,
feel free to hit the Subscribe button down below
along with the bell notification icon,
so you don't miss any future videos.
As I mentioned, Samsung just announced the brand new
Samsung Galaxy S9
and Galaxy S9+.
These are its two new flagship smartphones
here for the beginning of 2018
and that remain the flagships,
at least until the Galaxy Note 9 is announced
later this year.
Now as I mentioned, I was able to go hands-on
with the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
Big shout out to Samsung
for inviting me to check out the new devices.
I was able to spend some time
with both the S9 and the S9+.
And in this video I'm sharing with you the top features
that stood out to me.
To kick things off, let's get started with the design.
The first thing I noticed
when I picked up the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and the S9+
is just how familiar they feel to last year's Galaxy S8
and S8 Plus smartphones.
Not much has changed with the design of the S9 and S9+,
and I actually see that as a good thing.
A lot of people want to see new designs every single year,
but I'm much more of a mindset that I wanna see refinement.
If you have a great design, hold on to that design,
refine the design, and perfect it going forward.
The S8 and S8 Plus looked great and felt great in the hands,
so Samsung kept that design going forward
and have made an even better phone
with a familiar form factor.
And since it's a similar form factor,
you get the same display size as this year
that you had last year.
That being a 5.8 inch super AMOLED display on the S9.
With the larger Galaxy S9+ getting a 6.2 inch display.
Both devices have an 18 1/2 x 9 aspect ratio
and support Quad HD resolution.
Samsung says that these displays will get 15% brighter
than last year's Galaxy S8 display,
so it'll auto adjust in instances
where a brighter display is needed
such as in direct sunlight.
Samsung did also mention
that the bezels are ever so slightly smaller this year.
So what you end up with is a smaller,
more powerful device with the same screen size.
Now the size isn't something you're gonna notice
right out of the box, holding it in your hand.
You really have to compare them side-by-side,
take an S8 and a S9, put them together
and then you'll see the size difference.
So it's not drastic at all, but it is a welcomed change.
The other design decision Samsung made this year pertain
to color.
Here in the United States,
we're gonna see three colors of the
Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
Those being midnight black, lilac purple,
and the return of the ever so popular coral blue.
Now there's also rumored to be a titanium gray model.
They did not show that one to us
when we were there, so I'm assuming that if it does exist,
that's gonna be for international markets
and will not ship in the United States.
You'll also notice along the back
that the fingerprint sensor
has been relocated to a less confusing place,
so now you won't have to worry about
smudging up your camera lens,
since the sensor is beneath the camera like pretty much
every other smartphone with a rear fingerprint sensor.
On the topic of security and authentication,
Samsung does also support both face unlock
and iris unlock on the Galaxy S9 and S9+, as well.
Along with an intelligent scan feature,
they'll use a combo of face unlock and iris detection
for those of you who want enhanced security.
If biometrics aren't your thing,
you also have the standard PIN, pattern,
and password to unlock your phone as well.
Now, with the design out of the way,
let's jump into what seems to be the main difference
here on the Galaxy S9 and S9+
when compared to last year's S8 lineup
and that is the cameras.
Now I've said it many times before,
if you buy a flagship device,
you're going to be getting a great camera.
It doesn't really matter which flagship you buy,
the cameras are, pretty much, superb across the board.
Whether you buy an iPhone, whether you buy a Galaxy device,
whether you buy you a Pixel, etc.
But for many years, people have recognized both the iPhone
and the Samsung's Galaxy S line.
So both have, pretty much, the top of the line
when it comes to cameras until a couple of years ago
when Google slipped in and started changing the game
with the Pixel.
The original Pixel and even more so the Pixel 2
have been stealing the attention
as far as smartphone cameras go.
And Samsung is coming out of the gate swinging
with the camera improvements made to the Galaxy S9 series.
So what sets the cameras apart on the Galaxy S9.
Well, for the first time, in my memory,
a smartphone is shipping that supports more
than one aperture.
So under the fixed aperture, you've got a dual aperture
on the main wide angle lens.
Those apertures being F2.4
alongside F1.5 on the super speed Dual Pixel shooters.
The camera is smart enough to switch
between these two apertures on the fly,
but if you go into the Pro Mode,
you can actually change them manually yourself.
And it's actually pretty cool when you change the aperture,
you can actually look on the back of the phone
and see the camera aperture change right before your eyes.
So what does this mean in plain English?
Well it means, if you're out in a nicely lit,
daytime environment, the camera will know to switch over
to the F2.4 lens so that it will capture that wide color
that's all around you without anything getting blown out.
However, if you're in a low light environment,
maybe it's evening, maybe you're in a dark restaurant,
or a club and you wanna take some photos it will know
to automatically switch over to F1.5 in order to take in
even more light to make sure your photos continue
to look clean and crisp.
And again, if you use the Auto Mode,
or any of the other non Pro Modes on the camera
it's gonna do this intelligently by itself.
You don't have to worry about the aperture at all.
But if you are a pro or wanna use those pro features,
you can go into the Pro Mode and switch it on your own.
And if you're wondering how good the F1.5 mode is,
Samsung actually had a demo where we peeked into a cylinder
that was dark, and we looked in there,
and we didn't' see anything.
Then we took the Galaxy S9, put it on the F1.5 mode,
and then looked through that, and we could see
what was at the bottom of the cylinder.
So this camera is pretty powerful.
Now that's not all for the camera news on the Galaxy S9,
or more specifically the Galaxy S9+,
because Samsung has now taken that second camera
from the Galaxy Note
and moved it over to the Galaxy S9+, as well.
Which means,
the Galaxy S9+ is now a dual camera smartphone.
That second lens is a telephoto 12-megapixel camera
with a F2.4 aperture,
and both lenses support optical image stabilization.
So whether you're taking photos or out shooting video,
you're gonna get nice, clean, crisp images
and smooth, buttery video.
For all you selfie lovers out there,
the front camera is a wide angle 8-megapixel lens
with an F1.7 aperture.
So not much has change there,
but the front camera on the S8 was pretty fantastic,
so you can expect the same on the S9 as well.
Continuing on the camera front,
Samsung is also adding in a powerful, slow motion feature,
which allows you to shoot at 960 frames per second
at 720p resolution.
Now that is actually a crazy stat.
Both the 960 frame per second
and the fact that it's at 720p.
When I heard they were gonna do 960,
I figured it was gonna be a 480p video resolution,
but it's actually 720p high definition.
Now one thing about shooting slow motion video,
sometimes you're trying to catch something particular
in the scene, and when you hit record you actually miss it.
Samsung's also built in a feature
that captures super slow mo when the camera sees
something enter a portion of the display.
So you specify the area,
and you hold the phone up to the scene,
and if something goes through the area specified
it'll immediately capture a 960 frame per second,
super slow motion clip.
And you can see here that I tried it a few times,
and again, the way that it figures out
when to capture the slow motion clip
is when there's movement in the specified area.
So since I started moving around early
it actually fired off earlier than I wanted it to,
but eventually I was able to get it down,
as you can see here, this is
how the super slow motion feature is supposed to work.
One other camera feature
I'm gonna touch on briefly is the AR-Emoji feature.
This is kind of Samsung's answer to Apple's Animoji,
but with Apple they're actually animated
the emoji characters and with Samsung
the AR-Emoji is animating an emoji version of you.
The camera scans your face and automatically creates
your likeness that you can then dress up and accessorize.
I personally didn't find any clothes
I would realistically wear in real life.
And had no clue where my beard went,
but maybe that was buried in the settings somewhere,
and I didn't' feel like looking all over the place for that.
Once you have your Ar-Emoji, you can use it in the camera,
in text messages, and in other places as well to convey
your thoughts and feelings in emoji form.
Now let's step away from the camera for a moment
and talk about one of the other features
that I though was a major improvement, at least for me,
someone who enjoys music
and entertainment on my smartphones.
And that is finally,
the addition of stereo speakers on a Samsung Galaxy device.
Similar to what you'll find on Apple's current iPhone 8
and iPhone 10, not only do you
have the bottom firing speaker,
on the Galaxy S9 and S9+, but you also have the earpiece
now that acts as a second loud speaker as well.
Together they give you stereo sounds
and the speakers are tuned by AKG,
and the phone is also certified
for Dolby Atmos surround sound, as well.
There you have it, guys.
That was your first hands-on look at Samsung's
brand new Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones.
If you're excited to pick one up,
you can pre order these devices beginning on March 2nd
and they release to the public on March 16th.
So you'll be able to get your hands on these
in just about three weeks.
Now there are even more features
I'm gonna be showing you between now and then.
Those include new additions to what Bixby can do,
as well as improvements made to Samsung's DeX platform.
If you're excited about the Samsung Galaxy S9
and enjoyed this one, please do drop a like on this video,
and don't forget if you haven't done so already,
you can click or tap on my face
when it appears here at the bottom of the screen
in order to subscribe for free to the channel,
so you don't miss any future videos.
Thanks so much for watching as always, guys,
I appreciate your support.
I'm Andru Edwards and I will catch you in the next video.
