Youtube daily report Feb 21 2018

General Motors' shutting down their assembly plant in Gunsan would adversely impact the

lives of tens of thousands of people in the region.

Which is why the South Korean government and the head of international operations of the

U.S. automaker met to discuss restructuring options.

Lee Jeong-yeon gets us up to speed with the developments.

Just last Tuesday, GM Korea announced its plans to shut down its assembly plant in Gunsan,

Jeollabuk-do Province before the end of May.

This sparked a heated discussion, with voices opposing the idea saying that it could potentially

affect tens of thousands of people, especially in the Gunsan area.

Barry Engle, Executive Vice President and President of GM International, is now in South

Korea, meeting with South Korean officials to discuss restructuring methods to revive

GM Korea.

The Detroit-based carmaker proposed investing 2-point-8 billion U.S. dollars over the next

decade into its South Korea operations, and asked the government to inject funds for investment,...

through the state-run Korea Development Bank, which in turn would invest around 476-million

dollars.

South Korea's trade minister Paik Un-gyu said on Wednesday that the government has asked

for an audit into the automaker's "opaque" management, and that a 'detailed business

plan' must be devised before any confirmation, as such a large amount of tax-payers' money

cannot be spent under vague terms.

"So the key point is it's not the amount of money.

The key point is the competitiveness of GM Korea.

So the government has to get confirmations from GM Korea or GM on how to make GM Korea

plants become competitive."

GM's proposal is on top of the already proposed 2-point-2 billion dollar debt-for-equity swap,

to get financial support and tax benefits from Seoul.

They've also proposed launching two new models produced in Korea, and maintaining production

of 500-thousand units annually.

However, experts say this won't be easy.

"Understanding the number of units that GM Korea has been selling either domestic or

global market,... because 80% of the products in GM Korea is to be exported, so just looking

at the trends of GM Korea's autosales, sustaining 500-thousand units in the local market is

very difficult."

The expert adds that further restructuring could be possible in the remaining three plants

in South Korea for the carmaker to maintain such production.

An agreement between the government and the automaker is expected to be made within the

next month.

Pentagon to release details of delayed S. Korea-U.S. joint drills after Olympics: Yonhap - Duration: 0:44.

Details of the postponed Seoul-Washington joint military exercise will be released next

month when the PyeongChang Winter Olympics wrap up.

In an email interview with Seoul-based Yonhap News, the Pentagon spokesperson said...

Key Resolve and Foal Eagle -- usually held in late February or early March... were delayed

to ensure the security of the Games and lower tensions in the region.

North Korea has been calling the drills invasion rehearsals and perceives them as justification

for the regime's provocations.

The U.S. Defense Department's position is in line with that of Seoul's Defense Minister

Song Young-moo.

The defense chief said he and his U.S. counterpart will make an announcement regarding the new

date before April, after the PyeongChang Paralympics are over.

5 THEORIES ABOUT SALMON RUN - Splatoon 2 - Duration: 9:02.

Salmon Run is a brand new mode in Splatoon 2, and it has many secrets.

For instance: Salmonids, and their mysteries, and Mr Grizz,

a very enigmatic character sending us to work for him...

Many details remain untold and they are now often theorised.

Where do Salmonids come from? Who is Mr Grizz?

Why do we have to collect eggs? As you can see, many questions come to mind,

and we are going to highlight some details in order to find answers in this video.

First, let's talk about the origin of Salmonids.

Let's take a closer look at scroll 17 in Splatoon 2 :

[reading the French translation of the parchment]

[The following part deals with specific translations from French to English]

[Major Pagrus is the French name of Madai here]

As you may know, in the English version, this scroll is not "Major Pagrus's memoirs",

but you can read "The Book of Madai",

Madai is a biblical figure actually, he is said to Noah's descendant.

Moreover, Madai is the Japanese name of a kind of fish, so in English

it is actually a play on words mixing Splatoon's own aquatic world and

a little touch of religion in this scroll.

This fish name, Madai, becomes

Major Pagrus in French, and this name is the one used at the bottom

of the French version of the scroll.

[Litterally] Major Pagrus's Memoirs, Chapter 10.

So, the French translation sounds more like a manual of war rather than a biblical book,

but the play on words is actually pretty cool, only because of the translation.

The word "major" in French does not sound biblical, but in English, this scroll

has heavy religious references, and represents Salmonids coming out of the ocean, and

it seems like the seven circles in the sky are a biblical reference to the Seven Seals of Revelation,

And the two characters in the foreground may be a reference

to Adam and Eve, both casted out of the Garden of Eden, as depicted on a fresco by Masaccio.

We also had other references to Adam and Eve in the first Splatoon scrolls.

Anyway, here, with this biblical tone, Salmonids appear as some apocalyptic danger

and the two human characters are in fact Inklings chased away from their own paradise.

This is actually quite a mysterious scroll and it seems to give us the origins of

Salmonids like a divine arrival, which may only be some

gods' will to end the world as it is, nothing more.

However, historically, religious texts tend to find answers

to unsolved questions.

The true explanation may only be evolution, the same evolution that

made Inklings and Octarians come out of water.

Well, about the Octarians, we know that an alliance between Octarians

and Salmonids has been made.

It is said in the game manual, in the Salmon Run section.

You can read that Salmonids acquired the technology enabling them to build

gushers after meeting with the Octarians.

Indeed, the gushers in Goldie Seeking look like the same gushers

as the ones in the Octarian world, in the solo campaign.

An alliance between the two peoples known as our enemy is

pretty curious.

Indeed, we know that the Octarians are fond of science and biology.

We may think that Salmonids were created by the Octarians, but

that would be in contradiction with scroll 18, in which you can see salmons

in the Middle Ages, and also with scroll 17 actually, from earlier,

which gives the impression of being even older.

What is called "Middle Ages" in scroll 18 is not our real world Middle Ages but

Inklings' Middle Ages, that is to say an ancient time between

the rising sea levels and the actual events of the game.

This scroll also deals with the migration of salmons, which occurs once every 70 years,

and this explains why we didn't have Salmon Run available in

the first Splatoon, because the 70 year period wasn't over yet.

In order to stay true to this fact, Salmon Run shouldn't be available

in a third Splatoon game if its timeline is set some years after Splatoon 2.

About the Octarians, there is another peculiar detail: you know, the orange

eggs picked during a Salmon Run round are the same as the ones

you collect during the solo campaign in the Octarian world.

Why is that so? Well, one possible explanation would be that

the Octarians themselves go on a salmon hunt in order to collect

some eggs.

During the story mode, collecting eggs throughout the campaign enables us

to unlock and upgrade weapons, so this may be

some sort of raw material that enables Inklings and Octarians to improve their technologies,

especially weaponry.

Zapfishes are for electricity, and the eggs for technological improvement.

Anyway, this theory is possible.

To end this video, i'd like to talk about Mr Grizz again.

In a previous video, I presented you a theory about Mr Grizz,

feel free to see it now, if you haven't yet [The video is translated]

In this one, I'm going to give you three other theories in order to answer the good old question:

Who is he?

In Splatoon 2, the only one character missing, thus very important

in Splatoon 1, is Cap'n Cuttlefish.

We are told in the story mode, especially in scroll 25, that Cuttlefish

went on an investigation with Agent 3, somewhere he calls "the cape".

We can see a very enigmatic see map, as well as a fishing lure,

so these two details are closely related to fishes, hence

to Salmon Run.

And what if Cuttlefish was in fact Mr Grizz

who went on an investigation on Salmonids, and had open a shop in Inkopolis in order to

send some Inklings to collect eggs so that he can study

Salmonids?

All of this remains shady, we don't know that much about

this investigation.

Maybe it has nothing to do with Salmon Run.

Even if it did, it doesn't mean that Cuttlefish is

in fact Mr Grizz.

Anyway, this is still an option.

The second theory I want to talk about is the following:

Mr Girzz

is in fact an Octarian.

As we could see, the Octarians use fish eggs for their business.

You can find eggs all around their world during the solo campaign.

So if there are eggs in their world, it means that they have to get them somewhere, right?

What if they were in fact using Inklings in order to do their dirty work,

and Mr Grizz

was in fact an Octarian, hidden in the Inkling world? What if he was recruiting

on a regular basis in order to fill his pockets with fish eggs, and

bringing them back ro rhe Octarian world.

We saw earlier that there is a link between the Octarians and Salmonids, so...

It is a serious option to assume that Mr Grizz

is in fact an Octarian.

And to finish this video, I am going to give you a third theory, a little bit

excentric, but nonetheless pretty clever: what if Mr Grizz

was not a bear but a Sperm Whale, or any sort of whale?

Let me explain.

First, we know that Inklings know about whales.

We can see a whale skeleton in The Shellendorf Institute.

We can also see some on posters in MakoMart. Even the logo itself of the

supermarket depicts a whale.

So whales are part of the Splatoon universe, or at least, they existed at some point

et the Inklings are very well aware of what they are.

Why would Mr Grizz be a whale, then, may you wonder.

Or even a sperm whale, specifically? Well, you have to know that

sperm whales produce some substance called in French "ambre gris".

It is produced in the digestive system of the sperm whales, hypothetically after being wounded

by the giant squids' beaks after being swallowed by the whale.

So, sometimes fishermen found some ambergris,

and this substance is often used in chemistry, or perfumery,

for instance.

Well, as you can see, there is already some kind of connection between

squids and sperm whales, with the ambergris.

Well, in fact, that's not all, because in English, it is called

"ambergris".

And even though the writing and the pronunciation are slightly different,

we can see some hidden message appear.

Which is: AM BER GRIS, which sounds literraly the same as : I AM BEAR GRIZZ.

So we're moving from sperm whales to ambergris, to finally end up with

am ber gris, which litterally means: I am bear Grizz.

I think this theory is pretty innovative.

Is it pure language coincidence? Or is it a true will from Nintendo developpers

to convey a message? We may never know.

Anyway, Mr Grizz's identity

remains unknown for now.

We may wait and hope for little more information with a next update or even

in a next Splatoon game.

As for Salmonids, same hopes.

For now, it is still blurry.

I hope this video gave you some key clue to find answers to these questions,

and I hope you enjoyed it.

It you did, feel free to let everyone know by liking, commenting and sharing the video.

EvilSquid speaking, see you soon in a next video,

Bye!

Eperjesi Ágnes: D. 365 napja - 2. rész / 356 days of D. - Part 2. - Duration: 3:10.

The installation in INDA Gallery

was based on objects that are the products of the compulsive activity of Dávid, a severely autistic man.

The installation was built in the three rooms of the gallery.

A slim strip of black and white object photos of soap bars runs around the walls of the first room.

The bars are photographed in the manner of archival documentative photography.

All the soaps are factory mass-produced, however, their surface is broken.

Broken by the traces left by Dávid's fingernail: scratches, grooves and craters of varying depths.

The space of the second room is filled by a surreally large monolith table,

cast on location from concrete.

Arranged in a stict order of long straight rows, hundreds of hand-carved soaps lie all across the table,

displaying a variety of colours and shapes.

Most of them are at a distance that makes them inaccessible for the visitors.

The carves and indents Dávid had scratched in the soaps were filled up

to restore them as close as possible to their shape before Dávid's intervention.

I used industrial concrete to fill up the carves and scratches.

Concrete differs from the soft and fragile material of the soaps in all of its characteristics.

Soap and concrete are chemically incompatible,

here, however, they are joined as shapes, patterns that fit into one another.

The table leaves only half a meter for visitors to walk around,

pushing them out of the space, and limiting them in their movement.

In the third room, a carousel slide projector beams large images on the wall, one after the other, in a loop.

The projector keeps clicking loudly, with its carousel going round and round mercilessly.

Its monotonous sound is heard in the other rooms too.

The original soaps were made my Dávid Vedres.

Thanks to him and his parents Edit Orsós and Csaba Vedres.

PyeongChang Winter Olympics Day 12 - Duration: 3:02.

We are into Day 12 of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

Hi, I'm Kim Hyesung with the latest on the games.

Let's kick things off with the highlights.

In the women's single skating short program this morning, South Korea's Choi Da-bin scored

67-point-77 points, pulling off a personal best to rank 8th.

15-year-old Kim Ha-nul came in 21st place.

Both of them will be going for the free skating program.

Russia's ( ) Alina Zagitova came in first with a world record of 82-point-92 points.

The South Korean women's curling team is on a winning streak.

In the 11th round robin session, the home team won big against the Olympic Athletes

from Russia by 11 to 2, after the Olympic Russian team called it quits in the sixth

end.

The victory comes after Team Korea beat the USA yesterday to become the first team to

qualify for Friday's semi-finals.

Later this evening, the home team will suit up to take on Denmark.

In the Alpine Skiing women's downhill...

Italy's ( ) Sofia Goggia claimed gold, beating the United States' Lindsey Vonn, who had to

settle for bronze.

The 25-year-old Italian skier clocked in at one-minute-39-point-22 seconds, coming 9-hundredths

of a second ahead of Norway's ( ) Ragnhild Mowinckel, who won silver.

The host country, South Korea clinched its fourth gold in the women's 3-thousand meter

short track speed skating relay last night,... defending the medal it won at Sochi 2014.

The four-member team clocked in at 4-minutes-7-point-361 seconds, beating Italy and the Netherlands,

who won silver and bronze.

The gold medal finish also gave 19-year-old Choi Min-jeong her second gold of this year's

Winter Games.

Now, let's take a look at the medal tally.

Norway's on top with 11 gold, 11 silver and 8 bronze medals.

Trailing behind is Germany... with a total of 23 medals.

Sweden is 7th.

South Korea is in ninth with 4 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals.

There's still a lot of exciting events to come.

The semifinals for the men's team pursuit in speed skating is slated for 8:20 p.m.

South Korea will be playing against New Zealand.

If Team Korea makes it to the final, it could be in the gold medal hunt shortly after quarter-past-ten.

In the women's competition, after failing to qualify for the semifinals,...

South Korea will compete in the D final, racing Poland in about three hours from now.

The women's bobsleigh fourth heat is slated for 10 p.m.

That's all I have for now.

Stay tuned to Arirang News for the latest updates on the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.

I'll leave you with today's results.

The Disability Misconception Tag (cc) - Duration: 11:20.

Hi guys I'm Shelly, and welcome to The Disability Misconceptions Tag.

I'm just glad I got that on my mouth, because I've been practising it, for the last 5 minutes and it always come out as gibberish.

Hi, how are you guys? Welcome to the tag

This was made up by a wonderful woman named Nicola. Links to her down below,

I was tagged by the wonderful, gorgeous, genius woman, that is Emily from Fashioneysta

Links to her down below, and here and there and everywhere that YouTube will let me well they will let me.

I'm not bitter, it's fine.

This tag is going to be out the Misconceptions of Disability,

Because they, are a plenty and they happen quite a lot.

Question 1. What is your disability and how it does it affect you?

There is a saying that, "One does not just walk into Mordor"

On that note, there is also the saying that.

"One does not just have one, chronic illness"

If you get one, yeah tend to get a few.

And all of my chronic illnesses, develop into different kinds of disability.

The condensed version, I have EDS which stands for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

Which makes me very floppy, and it means that my collagen breaks down a lot quicker than normal collagen.

I dislocate quite a lot, it also affects my skin. Meaning that it's very ,very thin and it tears very easily.

EDS also affects my internal organs, because the collagen is breaking down in my system, it's breaking down in my organs to.

Such as my stomach, my heart, so on and so forth....... so that's fun

My next chronic illness is, Endometriosis. That effects periods and reproduction.

I also have Dilated Cardiomyopathy, which is because of my EDS.

It basically means that my heart doesn't pump blood properly, one of the valves is just a bit........

bit lazy, which makes me knackered all the time.

Can give me chest pains and means I have to be on medication to regulate my blood and regulate my heart rate.

Then it's debatable, as to whether I still have ME

I was originally diagnosed with ME, when I was younger but now it seems to have formed into EDS.

Or, now they know more about EDS it has been re-diagnosed

So it's a whole vague as to whether I still have ME,

But ME stands for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis,

It makes you tired, it gives you symptoms like the flu.

It gives you digestive problems, it gives you cognitive problems.

Which is one of the reasons, why I can't explain it...

It's because, it slows down your brain and and it gives you, something called brain fog.

Where you just, you know what you're trying to say.... but you can't get out of your mouth.

That affects me quite a lot, it means that I'm hopeless at doing any kind of mental activity.

Talking to a camera, makes me confused

So just in forms of YouTube, my brain fog and my cognitive problems.

Mean that I will ramble for a very very long time. And I don't know if any of it is useable. I cannot find the words I'm looking for.

Question 2, What is the most common misconception, that you come up with against your disability?

Blimey, there's a list.......

That I can do stuff and I'll be okay

Any kind of physical, or mental activity. Takes a massive toll on me, and I don't tend to show that toll.

So when I turn up to things, and when I do things and when I sit here and have a conversation with my camera.

It looks like I'm okay.....I look like I'm okay right??? ish

I have make up on....... color in the hair, dressed.... all these things.

I look like I'm okay, and yet I'm not. I have a support on my wrists, holding them together.

I have fingers that look pretty, but they're actually just holding my fingers together.

I am in an extreme amount of pain, and the second this is over I will go back to bed, and be in pain.

So the most common misconception. is that people don't believe my illness because I can appear well, for a very short amount of time.

Under stimulants, again I'm on coffee and I shouldn't technically.....

My body shouldn't probably be on coffee. But if I wasn't on it, I wouldn't do anything

I make the choice to, make myself worse. So that I can have some kind of life, in between.

And the misconception is that, when I don't show up to family events.

When I don't show up to friends birthdays. When I don't interact with people.

It's because I'm choosing not to?

Because I'm being selfish, and because I'm being lazy.

I pay for it dramatically!

You don't see it, because I'm not showing you it.

Because I choose not to. Because it's a very vulnerable position. That I don't like to put myself in.

Question 3, Which misconception annoys you the most?

That I'm gonna get better!

I get this a lot lately.

I'm learning to deal with it, but I am NOT going to get better.

I am NOT going to suddenly get better enough to hold down a job get better

enough to go out into the world and be what is classed as a fully functioning

human this is me it's a chronic illness it's not going away

I have EDS which is the doTERRA t'v deteriorated two territory to

deteriorate if that word is there somewhere my life isn't gonna get better

so when people stand in front I mean go oh you just have to try a bit harder you

know you got all these things to look forward to you're just gonna get better

and then you're gonna get a job I'm gonna get a husband or a wife all right

start dating and you can't just live your life like this Oesterle you can't

stay like this this surely isn't going to be your life you're going to expand

and you're going to get better and move on well I'm not this is about as well as

I'm gonna get that will have a payback and then I will get worse again it is a

cycle and I am NOT going to magically just be well again I could spend a very

long time trying to explain to people that this is not going to happen that I

am NOT going to get better I'm seen as a pessimist and and somebody who's

defeating they're just like well you're not gonna get better if you think like

that I'm just like I don't think like that these are the facts this is the

illness I have you don't magically get better from EDS it's a genetic illness

I can't change my DNA that that just takes me a bit next question do you do

anything to combat these issues I'm doing it now yeah my channel this this

is my way of combating everything this is my way of standing up for myself and

and standing up against the misconceptions of illness

I am currently collecting moments of illness and I'm gonna try and put them

into a vlog to explain what happens to me

when I crash and very nervous to put that out but that will be my way of

combating the misconception that I'm okay it takes calm it takes knowledge to

sit down and combat misconceptions it takes energy takes a lot of energy and

also so that person has to want to listen

that person has to want to take it on board and not have their prejudice fill

their brain so much that they're just gonna wipe everything you say out of the

water and I've had a lot of those conversations where the person I'm

talking to just doesn't want to know they're not interested

they think they're correct and and that is it and and I have been beaten down

from that and so I don't always stand up for myself and I don't always try and

combat the misconceptions because I just don't have the energy there is a point

where you just have to stay no you have to step back for your own sanity and

just go you don't want to understand so I'm just gonna walk away and I have lost

friends and I have lost a lot of opportunities and people in my life

because of that I can't fight every battle I really really can't fight

everything I just don't have the strength to do next question what more

do you think can be done to tackle misconceptions about your disability on

a personal note teach doctors please I have been to I think is 10 specialists

and only one of them has ever recognized my illness I brought it to them and they

then and looked it up and kind of researched it and then oh yeah ok hang

on we may have a problem here the rest of them have just passed me as as

literally crazy I have been threatened with section so many so many so many

times because doctors have misunderstood and my illness and my disability and

thought I was lazy we won't get into that that that's a sore point but for

doctors to be taught about chronic illnesses that that would really really

be helpful I realize there is a Fault in the system a way to fix it would be to

be more visual being more out there put disabled people out there put people

with chronic illnesses out there and have authentic representation on TV of

social media in politics especially if they were disabled and chronicle people

in in politics who could fight for our causes and be more visual that would be

wonderful in all aspects in the corporate world as well so there will be

a slow change in we will be all over media and so people will be used to

seeing and used to hearing about new nurses and

and coming on board with it I understand that with chronic illness it's rather

difficult because you're too ill to work if you're an actor and you're trying to

show chronic illness it's not necessarily something that you can hire

a chronic ill at afford because maybe they are not well enough but with

disability you can hire a disabled actor you can

hire a disabled presenter you can show disability and illness authentically on

TV consult with disabled people consult with chronically ill people and ask them

how to authentically represent them I think it's important that we as disabled

and chronically ill people we have a vote we do have a vote and so if we vote

in people who represent us more hopefully there will be a very very very

very very very slow change this got very depressing didn't it anyway I got

sidetracked that was the disability misconception

tag I've talked for a very long time I hope I haven't bored you to death I need

to tag some people and pass it on oh god here we go this this is the brain fog I

had five people and now I've lost them so what I'm going to do is link them

down below and I walk tweet them and tell them that I'm tagging them I am

tagging you watching it if you would like to do the disability misconception

tag feel free you've been tagged by me I hope you guys are good and I will see

you guys soon after I say after a knot on the end of every video I really do

mean it I will now go get into bed and lie there for like a couple of hours if

not longer in the dark with some kind of painkiller usually for me it's it's a

distraction it's ASMR to try and and control the pain and I may not eat

because I'll be in so much pain or my body will not be able to digest food I

may not even be able to drink I may get a migraine all of these things

I am willing to put my body through so that I can do this because I enjoy doing

this but I don't show you that because it's not something that I feel

comfortable sharing yet but that is the misconception that I'm okay and that

carry on with my day I don't this is my day that was depressing when it see ya

bag that we are if the there are words I just can't get them

F-15 Display Dedication - Duration: 1:35.

(cockpit radio talk)

- [Barcelo] The F15 is a versatile jet

that has a proud history at Langley Air Force Base.

It has flown many missions,

from Desert Shield and Desert Storm

to Operation Noble Eagle.

The 1st Fighter Wing Association

memorialized the plane with a static display.

They gathered over $40,000 and contracted

different squadrons to work together to make it happen.

- [Hardenbrook] F15s are in very high demand

around the nation for displays.

Well, this airplane was the last F15 here,

and it kind of lived a life on display for a long time,

'cause part of one of the tour stops

was to stop in the hangar where it was

and let everybody look at the F15.

- [Barcelo] Not only was this

the last F15 to fly at Langley,

it was the first to arrive on base.

What started as just a handful of planes

eventually reached over 90,

making Langley one of the largest F15 bases.

During their time here,

the F15s flew over 466,000 sorties

and achieved many milestones.

F15s proved to be invaluable.

Having 104 to zero ratio of combat victories.

- [Huyck] So the static display

serves to remind us of those who served

during the F15 era,

the 34 years here at Langley Air Force Base.

And it serves as constant reminder

of what air superiority looks like.

- [Barcelo] Distinguished guests attended

the ribbon-cutting ceremony that took place February 6th.

The F15s mission may be over at Langley,

but its spirit will continue to carry on.

What I Wish I Knew When I Started My Photography Business - Duration: 4:29.

Hello, I am Jamie from jamiedelainewatson.com, thank you so much for tuning in again this

week.

Today, I'm bringing you an amazing collaboration with my friend and fellow YouTuber Nadia.

We're both gonna be talking about the things that we wish we knew when we started our photography

businesses.

So, watch through this video and then make sure you click on over to Nadia's channel,

and subscribe, and watch her video as well.

Let's get started.

So, the first thing I wish I knew when I started my photography business is how important it

is to differentiate yourselves.

I know this is something that we may hear a lot in the industry, "Oh, be different,

be unique, stand out, offer something different."

That can be quite vague and difficult to understand what that actually means.

To me, what that's meant in my business is really doing the hard work to understand,

who am I?

What kind of unique things do I bring to the client?

What kind of images do I love to create?

And what kind of things do I not want to create?

What kind of things don't make me excited?

I love Lara Casey from cultivatewhatmatters.com says, "Write a list of things that fire you

up.

So, what makes you truly excited?"

Sometimes that can be a little bit easier than just brainstorming adjectives, or all

these other prompts.

What makes you excited, whether in business or life?

Just make a huge list of those things, and then figure out how you can bring more of

those things to your business, and to your client experience.

The second thing I wish I knew running a photography business is 80 to 90% business, and 10 to

20% actually taking photos.

So, if you're a photographer running your own business, congratulation, you're an entrepreneur.

Absolutely, when you're starting out you need to learn your gear and your equipment well,

and technical skills are absolutely important.

We cannot be making mistakes when it comes to delivering beautiful images for our clients.

But, after you have a good grasp on the technical skills in the first few years of your business,

you need to be investing twice if not thrice ... That's a kind of a cool word ... Thrice

as much time into your marketing, your systems, your pricing, and truly making sure that this

business you've started can go the distance.

The third thing I wish I knew, self promotion is not a bad word.

There is a way to promote yourself, and to promote your own business without it coming

across as icky ... What's the word I'm looking for?

Cocky and like it's all about you.

But, the reality is if you don't share your business, if you're so terrified of telling

other people what you do and coming across this way, you're really not gonna succeed.

Because if you don't tell anyone about your business, how are they suppose to know about

your business?

You are the face of your brand, and you need to be comfortable with sharing your face online.

So, if this feels overwhelming to you start in a small way this week, post on Instagram

of your face, not just your work, and share why it is that you love what you do and a

few unique things about you.

This will be a great way for clients to connect with you, and for you to get your name and

face out there as the brand of your business.

I have two more quick lessons coming your way, but this is your quick reminder to click

on over to Nadia's video.

At the end of this, I'll have the link in the description so you can watch her lessons

as well.

The fourth thing I wish I knew was how important backup systems are.

When you start photographing images for people and they're paying you to take these images,

we need to make sure that we have an amazing backup system in place.

So, if you have never gotten your backup system in order, I have a video that I'll put on

this screen, and you can click on over and watch that one from my whole backup system

process.

The last thing I wish I knew when I started my business is how lonely working for myself

could be.

I feel like every few years or seasons in my business I need to reevaluate, is how I

am working, working?

Am I happy just working from home?

Am I happy not seeing anyone for days on end besides my husband?

And the answer is no, so, each year I found a different system that works for me.

Maybe that's meeting a few other creatives, and consistently committing to meet at a coffee

shop three mornings a week for four hours.

Whatever it is you need to do to make sure that this business doesn't get you down, especially

in off season do that.

So, I have found an amazing rhythm, I work from a coworking space couple days a week,

and it's absolutely amazing to go there for six hours and to really focus on the work

I love, but without being totally alone especially in the non-shooting season.

So, thank you so much for watching today.

If you enjoyed what you saw can you give me a thumbs up, subscribe and comment below,

and be sure to check out my collaboration with Nadia as well.

She has the same video on her channel today.

The law of diminishing returns - Duration: 2:28.

In this video we'll cover the law of diminishing returns, also known as the law of variable

proportions.

By the end of this video you'll have a better understanding of what is meant by the law

of diminishing returns.

It is also called the law of variable proportions and both phrases refer to the same concept.

In our previous example, we illustrated total product and how it starts to increase at a

slower rate after the 5th worker.

This decreasing incremental addition of production is where diminishing marginal returns set

in.

While total product is still increasing, it is growing at a slower rate.

Eventually by the 9th worker marginal returns are negative.

However, the point at which diminishing returns set in is after the 5th worker.

Diminishing marginal returns does not mean negative returns.

As we can see from this diagram shown in the previous video, decreasing or diminishing

marginal returns set in after the 5th worker.

Typically in economics marginal product is drawn between two units, which is why this

point is plotted between 4 and 5 units of labour.

Beyond this point, each successive unit of labour is contributing less than the previous

unit of labour.

Now that we understand this graphically, let's look at an illustrated example.

Suppose we have a small carpentry business with enough space to support three employees.

The tools, equipment and machinery are enough to allow three employees to work productively

and efficiently.

As we add a fourth and fifth employee respectively the workspace becomes crowded and the workers

start to get in each other's way.

Assuming they are all working on independent projects, wait times increase for the use

of machinery and less work is now being added by successive units of labour.

If this business continues to employ more and more carpenters, that will lead to greater

inefficiencies and a further decrease in marginal returns.

The point at which additional units of labour cease to add as much to total production as

the previous unit of labour is considered the point at which diminishing marginal returns

have set in.

By now you should understand the law of diminishing returns.

We've seen it numerically, graphically and illustrated as well.

If you have any questions or comments, leave them below or email me at enhancetuition@gmail.com.

That's us done for now and I will see you in the next one!
