Youtube daily report Feb 23 2018

English Winners, have you ever heard the term Purple Cow? Let's learn about that.

So what is a purple cow? Well, 'purple cow' was introduced by an

author named Seth Godin, and he is a famous marketing author who wrote many

successful business books in the United States. Purple cow represents an idea: the

idea is that your product - the thing you sell - must be remarkable. You'll sometimes

hear purple cow discussed in product development meetings. Imagine you're

renting a car, and you're driving through... Texas, right? You're driving your car in

between Houston and Austin, and on the road you look out and you see some cows,

right? And most cows look pretty much the same.

You got your cows that are black... brown... white... and then usually they have a

combination of those three colors. They'll be white with brown or black

spots, or they'll be black with white spots... pretty much like that. Every cow

looks kind of the same. Now, what if you're driving past a farm, and you look;

this time, you see a PURPLE cow. Now that's different!

You've never seen a purple cow before. If you have kids in the backseat, you'll say,

"Hey, look! There's a purple cow." Or maybe, if you're talking to somebody later on,

when you stop for lunch or when you meet a business partner, and they say, 'How was

your trip?' You would say, 'It was a nice drive. Oh, by the way, I saw a purple cow.'

Right? The purple cow is remarkable. It's so unique and so interesting that you

have to talk about it to somebody. now the concept, 'purple cow,' is just like that;

the product that you give to people to buy must be remarkable like that. It has

to make people talk about it. That way, it's the best marketing ever: word of

mouth. People will tell other people, and they'll tell other people, and your

product will become well-known, and people will want it just because it's

remarkable. Think about the Toyota Prius: one of the first hybrid cars. That means

part of it ran on gasoline. Part of it ran on... electricity. It was one of the first

commercially available cars to do that. And it made a statement: when you saw a

Prius, you knew this person probably cared about the environment, or they

wanted to look like they cared about the environment. It was a quiet engine. It had

a touchscreen on the inside. Its design... everything about it said, 'Look! I'm new!

I'm cool! And I care about the environment.' And so the Prius was a

purple cow. People talked about it when it first came out. Now, there are plenty

of electric hybrid cars. There's even a few purely electric cars out there. Let's

give you another example: San Pellegrino. Have you ever heard of San Pellegrino?

Well it's an- I think it's an Italian brand. But it's a type of soda. You know,

just sparkling water with some fruit flavor in it

that you usually get in a can. But, the can has this foil over the top, so in

order to get at the sparkling water, you gotta peel the foil off and then open

the can to drink it. That was remarkable. That extra foil over the top gave the

idea that San Pellegrino was even more high quality than other sodas. There was

a a crafted sense to it, like San Pellegrino was different ,or they put

more effort into that soda than all the others.

So people talked about it. It was remarkable. Nowadays, I avoid sugar like

it's the devil himself... but I still like my sparkling water. I still stay loyal to

my Seagrams right here. SEAGRAM The water of

life. Even though Seagram's isn't a purple cow

in the way that San Pellegrino is, I still like it. What products do you know

that are purple cows? Anything that's so unique, it sells itself because people

talk about it? Tell me down in the comments below. I have included a good-to-

know business English playlist and another video I think you might like. And

in the description, I have a link to a blog with more examples of purple cows.

So, I'll see you on those lessons, okay? Catch you there.

Neewer S-Bracket holder with Bowens mount for Speed lights Review - Duration: 8:15.

Hello I'm Graham and I hope everyone's having a great day and welcome to this

video in which I'm going to show you some ways of enhancing your flash

photography especially if you're going to be using speed lights in your home

studio. Now you're probably aware if you want to use a speed light you've got to

set it up on some sort of tripod or on a traditional light stand the normal

method is to use the supplied hot you foot that you clip the flash to and then

normally in the shoe there is a quarter 20 threaded hole luckily if you find one

with a brass insert rather than just ordinary plastic threads otherwise they

strip out far too easy so you can put those on a quick release plate and fit

that to your your tripod and you then can set up the flash of the angle you

want for your particular shot if you've got light stands and obviously you can

use a light stand adapter turntable you to fit the hot shoe complete with a

radio trigger if you need to answer the hot shoe now in terms of light modifiers

and that's really the reason I wanted to show this video today is you're fairly

limited by the amount of modification you can do to the light that comes from

Lees now normally you've got just these softbox a diffuser it's normally

supplied when these flash units and that gives you a little bit of softening to

get rid of the very harsh shadows that you se you see from these flash units

you can increase that by use of these little clip-on diffusers I've got four

of these and unfortunately all of them they've lost the little tabs around the

outside edge that you fit these to the side of the flash unit these when they

do work give you a slightly larger diffused area and gives you a softer

output but beyond that you are fairly limited you might be able to use colored

gels so if you wanted to use colored gels to enhance your photography you

could clip on a colored gel to it and the other option is by the use of these

grids the honeycomb grid's which allow you to concentrate the light

in two straight beams have you wanted to get hard-edged two images now if you

wanted softer shadow still you've got to be using an umbrella

either the shoot-through type the Nylund translucent or the reflective silver or

gold type umbrella and that allows you to create softer shadows because you're

given a larger area and if you are going to use that method then you obviously

need an adapter which allows you to fit the umbrella to the flash stand so here

is an adapter that goes on a clash stand it's got a hole in there and the shaft

of the umbrella it just slips through there that allows you to set the

umbrella to the angle you want and the flash fires into the umbrella normally

you'd flip this wide-angle panel down there to give more of a diffused light

into the umbrella to give that wider flash bread so that's the option if

you're going to use speed lights either on your tripod or on a flash stand but

it is about the limit of the amount of creativity you can get with the flash

units for the last six weeks I saw it I've been experimenting by using a new

bracket assembly which allows me to use the boys lighting adapters for flash so

I'll quickly change over and you can see what I mean now this is the particular

lighting clamp that I've been using this one is a one by newer and I'll put a

link to that in the video description below but on Amazon and eBay there are

several of these made by different types of manufactures but they all provide the

same functionality of giving you the bayonet fit to use boring light fittings

now normally these would fit to a light stun but you can get these little

adapters which have got 1/4 20 threaded hole in the bottom and you can mount

that onto your quick release plate for your tripod and then this would go on

there and fit like so so you could actually use these on a tripod rather

than the light stand but normally these would fit to a light stand you just clip

over the fitting on the light stand and the flash unit is held in place by a

clamp on the unit so you would just fit the head into the assembly comp it in

place and now you've got a convenient method

but holding that flash unit and then again you've got the

ability to position the the head and to whatever angle you want for your

particular shot the beauty of this system is in the fact that we've got

this boyens adapter and it allows you to use that as a range of boings lights

modifiers here's a sudden each dish which just

will bayonet into that fitting and a quick turn it latches in and to release

it there's a little lever on the side which allows you to deal a chit so here

we've got the first set of light modifier which gives you a fairly

concentrated beam you can get much larger beauty dishes I've got a 24-inch

beauty dish which is the back of the studio there but the game that would fit

onto this boyens adapter you can use again the honeycombs and again they're

available in different angles and this one is the 60 degrees so this would clip

into that light fitting like so and give you a more defying light pattern the

light would be streamed out at 6 degrees and give you a more concentrated beam if

you wanted softer shadows then you could use a supplied nylon diffuser and again

that just fits around the rim of the light like so and that would give you a

larger area and is a softer shadows but if you wanted really soft shadows then

you would use either a larger dish with a built-in reflector or you can use

something like this large 24-inch softbox now this one's my god ox but

there are different types available this one actually folds up and you can see

we've got an inner diffuser and can actually fit the diffuser to the outside

so you can get double diffusion but it really depends on the power of your

Flash goodness - how much diffusion you will get power you'll get on the output

so none of these are designed for a studio flash so 600 watt second flash

but you can get a suitable effect with the guns with a guide number of

something like 60 which will give you an adequate out but and again this you just

clips over the rim of the light fitting and then you get a softbox

like so and that gives you a nice soft shadows particularly if you keep it

close to your subject there's a whole range of light modifiers are available

in this type of fitting or can you use even the interface range with the

suitable interface bonds adapter which you can buy on Amazon and then you can

use these to expand your your Flash and again with this particular fitting it's

got a hole and a clamp so you can actually fit your umbrella into the

units and and lock that in place and you can then direct the flash into the

umbrella to give you some softer shadows on your subject now the clamps are both

covered in rubber so you're not going to damage your flash unit when you clamp

this down it will even take flash units I've got the old vivitar 283 it won't

actually fit through from the front because of the size of the flush

modifier on there but you can feed it through from the front and it will go

through and give you that higher intensity to that 283 has obviously

you've got to trigger your flush unit either by optical trigger or you can use

radio triggers or with this godox X system it can be fired directly from

the transmitter on the camera so you've got many options you can use with these

units so there we go that's the newer s type bracket or the borns like that's in

adapter I think that is in the video description below so thanks very much

for watching please do take care and I hope to see you all in my next video

and good bye for now

Selfish requires a s. - Duration: 11:34.

Hi all.

The last time we were together I spoke to you about the little boy or little girl who

lives within us and I shared with you the fact that when that little boy or little girl

is not able to communicate with us it feels our pressure, the stresses that we experience

and wants immediate gratification and so it's often the core essence of why we indulge,

over indulge, cheat, while being on the program.

Very few of us are happy with ourselves when we're overweight because we recognise that

the reason we're unhappy with ourselves is because we have some sense of powerlessness

and helplessness and it spills over into other areas of our life.

The only thing I can control and the only thing you can control is ourselves.

I've said in the past that the word selfish would not exist because it's an anomaly, because

you cannot be selfish unless you have a self.

That implies that when a person is selfish if it's a negative kind of thing, they've

made themselves a priority but for the wrong reasons.

The reason being they feel not in control and so they try to make themselves more important

to demonstrate that they like themselves.

It's a total contradiction.

What's the answer?

The answer is the reason we are together here today.

We're all the same.

All of us who are overweight have had an issue with loving ourselves.

It makes no difference what circumstances have brought us to where we are.

What makes a difference is learning from the past and changing our behaviour and we change

our behaviour to: 1) If we saw the behaviour we change to in another person we would look

at that person and say I wish I had behaved the way that person is behaving.

That makes me feel good.

When we do it and we acknowledge what we are doing we're able then to truthfully say that

really made me feel good doing what I did.

Saying to someone and this happened just recently that I was not indulging because it wouldn't

be good for me and even though I wanted to indulge I wasn't because I would feel better

holding back than giving in and thank you for asking me.

By the way the person was someone who often tries to undermine me and I said: Thank you

for reminding me that I am really happy with myself for doing it my way.

The problem I have with moments like this is for example when I just said "my way"

I think of Frank Sinatra and that reminds me that my music is way in the past and that

I appreciated his Rat Pack because I saw the camaraderie there and that camaraderie fed

each and every one of them therefore part of loving myself is not only behaving in a

manner that makes me feel good that I did it but losing the fear that caused me to run

away in the first place.

Now how do you love yourself?

I thought about that and I thought about it when I was much younger.

When I was a really scrawny kid and I was so thin that I would never go to the beach/take

my shirt off and one day at the beach with my shirt on, I met this girl.

I was very shy and she and I just started to talk and the conversation led to picking

up sticks from ice cream pops and we started to make little boats and little fans with

the sticks.

She went home, I went home and about ten days later there she was again I said hi she said

hi and we began to talk.

I was about 12 and a half years old at the time.

I saw her about I would say a dozen times for the rest of the summer each time we would

talk and I realised something that I had never realised before I don't know whether it was

because of the fact that in my head as I look back I was wearing my shirt even when I went

into the water I wore my t-shirt but I know how skinny and emaciated I looked.

The key was this: She gave me the courage to have conversation with her and the conversation

that I had with her on many different kids' subjects.

It was during World War 2 so there were issues of life involved, there was an army base right

next door, we talked about those kinds of things as well and the summer ended.

What am I saying?

If we love ourselves and risk sharing who we are, other people will risk and share with

us.

When you share and they share, we grow.

When we grow, we take back our power.

When we take back our power, we begin to like who we are, we stop being afraid of what it

is that we can't control and begin to fall in love with what we can control.

I want you to start communicating, to recognise that communication is going to fill you up

and the more you talk and the more you communicate the more you will love the self that you are

and that self will lead you to places that you cannot imagine.

Start talking, go back and talk to the child within you.

Talk to the dolt within you.

Ask questions of other people, share with them what it is that you're doing and be proud

of it because no matter what they will see that you are in control of you and the more

they see it, the more their behaviour will reflect it and more and more you will like

the you who you are becoming.

Thank you for listening.

See you soon.

Luke Pell Is Reportedly Dating Girlfriend Holly Allen

Before we get started, let's get this spoiler warning out there right away.

If you do NOT want to know about spoilers about Luke Pell, Nastassia Yaramchuk, or The Bachelor Winter Games, STOP READING NOW.

Luke Pell was a fan-favorite from Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of The Bachelorette and there were rumors he was going to be the next Bachelor, but Nick Viall ended up with the starring role.

Previously, Pell revealed to Us Weekly that he actually had packed his bags for the gig and was set to fly out to Los Angeles, California when he was alerted that the part was given to Viall instead.

At the time, Pell revealed, "We were all satisfied, had agreed to the contracts and everything was moving forward.

I was checked in to my flight to come to L.A.

I got a call from producers Sunday night at about 10 p.m.

They said ABC had decided to quote-unquote go in a different direction … I've come to accept the decision, from all my years in the military, I've learned that some things are out of my control.".

On The Bachelor Winter Games, Pell came aboard "in search of love".

Pell ends up with the Swedish contestant Nastassia Yaramchuk on the show this season, but are they in it for the long haul? We can help you with that answer.

"No." Though the two seem to have a connection on the show, Bachelor guru Reality Steve insists Pell is just in it for the cameras.

According to Reality Steve, there is some major drama between Yaramchuk and Pell on the tell-all reunion episode after the finale of The Bachelor Winter Games.

Reality Steve revealed that during the tell-all show, "Stassi was brought out next by herself.

She said Luke ghosted her after taping … Probably because he was seeing Holly Allen right before he left and has been with her since he got back.

But yeah, he's a real stand up guy.

They brought out Luke to talk to her and he said he thought she knew by their last conversation he was ending things, but she had no idea." Steve continued, saying that Pell, "says that he messaged her 3 times on Instagram but she never responded but never got her number.

Stassi was apparently not very happy after their interview.

Stassi might be my new favorite person, and yet again, Luke shows his true colors." Yikes.

So, who is Holly Allen? According to her Instagram account, she is a Miss Wyoming 2012.

See a photo of her below.

According to The Elite Daily, Pell and Allen may have actually known each other before he was ever even on The Bachelorette.

So, was Pell dating her before The Bachelor Winter Games? Whatever the case, the two are reportedly together now.

Tune in tonight on the ABC network at 8 p.m.

ET/PT for the finale episode of The Bachelor Winter Games.

Immediately following will be the reunion tell-all episode.

Tiramisu & Chocolate Cream Puffs

Everybody Cacao〜!∴∵ゞ(´ω`*)

This time I made a cream puff with tiramisu and ganache(`・ω・)ノ

First, I will make puff dough. Sift the powder.

Melt all four eggs. I will use it while adjusting it later.

I hit eggs beat it. I could do it surprisingly quickly.

I beat eggs beforehand.

Wow!∑(゚ロ゚;

Hmm Hmm...

It's dream.

So, when eggs beat, I put it at room temperature.

Put butter, milk etc in a pan and heat it.

Melt the butter solidly and stop the fire when it boils.

Put the sift the powder and put it all together.

If it gathers up, burn it with a low heat.

When baked, put it in the bowl.

Mix the melted eggs little by little while hot.

Adjust the amount of eggs to put by the hardness of the dough. I think that I do not use all eggs.

It seems that the hardness that it hangs down to the triangle and stops for a while is good.

Squeeze by the iris bag. I used a 1 cm circle for the mouthpiece.

Squeeze the dough on a ceiling board with cookie sheets spread.

It is easy to swell when spraying on the dough.

The time to bake the dough varies slightly depending on the model of the oven.

Then bake at 170 ℃ for 15 minutes.

Cut to be a little oblique the puff.

Apply ganache to the lower half of the puff.

I used bitter chocolate here.

Make ganache chocolate and mix with boiled cream.

Put the ganache on the outside of the cutout a little, or pour it inside the puff.

Puffs are completed with a little hardening in a refrigerator.

Tiramisu Cream

Prepare two egg yolks.

Forgive me...

Cheese cream is made by mixing Mascarpone and cream cheese.

Put granulated sugar and mix.

Mix two egg yolks little by little.

I whip the cream with another bowl.

Fresh cream is good♪

Mix cheese cream and whip cream.

This time I will squeeze this cream to puff with a squeezing bag.

How about this one?

Gyu gyu gyu〜(≧∇≦)

I will go Oi-cacao here.

Hmmm... I feel someone's eyesight.

Do not look at such eyes. Is it that you say do it by hand?

I really want to do so...

Whoo! 'Oi-cacao' is too heavy on the hand. I hurt my right hand.

Let's do this! That's my own life.

See you in the next world.

Oi-cacao... Scatter∴∵ゞ(´ω`*)(adding cacao powder)

Scatter Scatter Scatter Scatter Scatter∴∵ゞ(´ω`*)

and more∴∵ゞ(´ω`*)

Nice cacao!

Whooooooo!!!!!!゛;`(;゚;ж;゚; )

Well, It becomes dry skin in the winter and the right hand is hurt (。・ω・)ノ゙

My fine if I apply hand cream.〜(´^ω^`)♪

It's slippery♪

Put the puff on top.

Completion!

Let's eat♪

Huh! This is really delicious! (≧ ڡ ≦ *) Sweetness Modest and mellow cream spreads throughout the mouth.

Bitters ganache instead of espresso is also wonderful! The balance is good and nice!

It's really delicious ‹‹\(´ω` )/››

Thank you for the meal♪

Nice cacao!

Whooooooo!!!!!!゛;`(;゚;ж;゚; )

Well, It becomes dry skin in the winter and the right hand is hurt (。・ω・)ノ゙

My fine if I apply hand cream.〜(´^ω^`)♪

It's slippery♪

Put the puff on top.

Completion!

Let's eat♪

Huh! This is really delicious! (≧ ڡ ≦ *) Sweetness Modest and mellow cream spreads throughout the mouth.

Bitters ganache instead of espresso is also wonderful! The balance is good and nice!

It's really delicious ‹‹\(´ω` )/››

Thank you for the meal♪

You are watching "Fun For Kids TV"

Let's learn and have fun

I am T-Rex, fierce and strong

If you see me coming, then run along.

I am T-Rex, fierce and strong

And this is my song

I am T-Rex, scary and big,

hungry always, ready to hunt…

They all run away from me

When my angry face they all see..

I am the largest hunting Dino ever to be

Ever to be

Ever to be

I have a huge skull but my hands are small

a long heavy tail so I don't fall

Tyrannosaurus Rex is king of all

My legs are so strong and big

To hunt a snack,

I hide behind the figs..

I sprint like a squirrel,

I run so fast

You can't escape, I'd catch you at last…

My teeth so sharp

they have sharpest bite

If you come in my way,

I will give you a fight…

I live near the forests

rivers and valleys

They run for their lives when they hear me in the alleys

I chase the dinos bigger than me

Nothing is impossible for me when I move swiftly

This is my jungle and

I am the king

Spare us, Oh scary one'

together they sing..

I am T-Rex, fierce and strong

If you see me coming, then run along.

I am T-Rex, fierce and strong

And this is my song

What is a 'Purple Cow'? | Business English Words and Meanings - Duration: 5:30.

Every cow

looks kind of the same. Now, what if you're driving past a farm, and you look;

this time, you see a PURPLE cow.

It's so unique and so interesting that you

have to talk about it to somebody. now the concept, 'purple cow,' is just like that;

the product that you give to people to buy must be remarkable like that. It has

to make people talk about it.

Edward Snowden about mass surveillance in Europe - La Nuit des Idées - 25/01/2018 - Duration: 21:21.

Good evening everyone,

Let the public applaude

First of all : Thank you very much Edward Snowden for having accepted to come in Marseille for a couple of minutes.

We will have four questions, which you will answer, please, in no more than 5 minutes.

ES: Thank you for having me, it's a pleasure being with you tonight.

To be honest, even if I'm only here for a few minutes, I'll be happy to have a few years in Marseille, if I were allowed.

First question : A few days ago, Donald Trump signed into law an extension of NSA surveillance powers for six more years.

Does this represent an ongoing or a new threat for European citizens?

Yes, so this is a complex law that has been controversial in the United States for many years.

Let me speak briefly of the history of mass surveillance in the United States,

to be clear on the meaning of mass surveillance.

Traditionally intelligence services have always been involved in surveillance,

in target surveillance, they know what they are trying to monitor:

this military unit, this radio station, this telephone headline or channel or of course these terrorists.

Mass surveillance arose most prominently in the United States in the wake of 9/11.

George Bush ordered that the rules be changed and the NSA shift from the targets surveillance

to the bulk collection of everyone's internet communications, telephone communications.

We would now use computers to target people within their phones.

So the idea was that they will collect it all, they will try to grab every thing

from the Internet and from phone networks. And then, after they collected it,

after they build an estate of human lives, they will search for what specific data.

Now traditionally the government says it is forbidden in the United States,

unconstitutional because we have a right of privacy. So the government argue :

this right only applies to Americans, no personal friends, Cuba, Russia, China or anywhere else,

has a right to privacy. So what the government said they would say is that

they would collect everyone's communications but would only read the communications

from one foreigner to another or from one foreigner to an American, but not from Americans to Americans.

Second question: Given that Marseille is linked to the rest of the word by 13 submarine cables,

what role should France and other European countries play in countering mass surveillance?

So this flows on naturally from the last question.

The idea is we now have a competition between many elements,

a competition that in our era was unfortunately started by the United States:

who can survey the most communications, the most people, in the most efficient way.

What this means is this sort of arms race has moved to a place where

American internet giants are working in contract with Facebook, with Google, with Apple –

with all of this PRIM partners, PRISM programs we heard talking about in 2013, to share information.

(break)

To summarize: We have a legal regime being advanced in many countries

that corporate partners become deputies of surveillance agencies. This is happening in a new way.

And the question is: Is this right? Is this proper? Is this what we want ?

The reality: whether we like it or not, it is happening now.

So the question that you raise quite rightly is: what should Europe do?

And the strongest argument that I think Europe can advance is that intelligence agencies

must recognize that you can't have a constitutional guarantee of your rights for someone inside your country,

for this person who works in this capacity or a citizen, but not for everyone else in the world.

Privacy either is a human right and everyone has it or it is not a human right, and no one benefits from it.

Because the idea of anything else is that French agencies spy on the world, but not on France.

Germany is spying on the world, but not on Germany. And so on with every country.

But what that means is for every person with everyday life they are being attacked and monitored and tracked

by 95 % of the world's governments, only not their own. And unfortunately in many cases even

there are guarantees that we as domestic citizens will not be spied on by our own countries,

they are not strong, they are not reliable guarantees.

Third question: What could the European Union do to protect whistleblowers and journalists?

So I think there are many different ways on working on this.

Unfortunately, whistleblowers have never been more necessary than they are today.

We see governments aggressively pursuing new and expanding powers of secrecy.

We've seen in France that the expansion and unfortunately the abuse of emergency powers

are often passed under the justification of countering terrorism.

But the routine use of these powers is applied in entirely different cases than the traditional intelligence gallery.

But we never hear about these uses without whistleblowers because of these new expanded state secrecy privileges.

So how do we protect them? The Scrawny principles that were decided by a group of I believe

22 different civil society organizations in June of 2013 are the closest that we have come to a strong recitation

of what a system of regulations or privacy, access to information and whistleblowing would look like.

Unfortunately, while these principles, the Scrawny principles, are derived from international law,

they do not yet have the force of international recognition by governments as the law.

European Union regulations, legislation and ultimately principles,

both at the federation level and at member state level should be drawn from these Scrawny principles.

But it is important to remember that these principles are only a starting point.

They are very good ones, but they do not necessarily go as far as we need them, unfortunately.

Fourth question

What psychological, technical and strategical advice would you give to empower whistleblowers against the surveillance?

This is a great question. I know we have a little bit talked about this,

you referenced it to Hirschmann. And his work on exit, voice and loyalty.

This sort of scheme of exit voice and loyalty describes the three possible choices

that individuals can take in response to a degradation of power.

Whether it is in a consumer product and they decide to buy something else or they decide to complain or they decide to buy it

or whether we talk about citizenship with immigrants leaving the country,

staying in the country, protesting or doing nothing or in institutions where you do nothing, you try to reform the organization within

or you are forced to leave this organization. Of course there is this last question, to leave the organization.

And everyone asks why. The problem is in the context of national security

these institutions, spy agencies, try to collapse the choices available to its workers.

Even if you see there serious criminalities they tell you that what you are talking about it is itself a crime.

Reporting on a crime makes yourself a criminal. If you leave, you are forced to keep silence for the rest of your life.

And at times it can be difficult to gain employment elsewhere,

because the secret service work means you can't tell your employers all the facts that you know.

I think we have to, in that context, think how about to empower people

to speak out both inside the organization and outside as a means of lawful behaviour.

And I think the best mechanism for achieving this is to recognize this surveillance agencies ability to keep people quiet

or corporation's ability to retaliate against employees who reveal a private information or a corporate information.

Even if it outlines wrong doing is to change the structure of its settings in a play.

What does this look like? Firstly, today it is typical for government's agencies

in any country related to spying to say: We can't explain why this is dangerous.

We have to presume that it is dangerous. But this is inappropriate, this stands against all reason.

Government must bare an obligation to demonstrate why. If they claim something is harmful, there is so.

If they are trying to limit the publication of new stories, they must show the damage that newspapers have caused.

And we have a very famous report in the United States with many others I think.

Jim Risen, the reporter who the Obama administration tried to put him in prison for his national security reporting.

He threatened to do it. He said he did not believe that at least in the American context

the government had shown any reporting that had caused real harm to national security.

This is embarrassing and is absolutely discomfort for the politicians who are responsible for abuse.

Certain, but how is an entirely different question.

So on the one hand we have to make the government prove their case, secondly we have to allow whistleblowers to make their case.

And there are two ways, two mechanisms that are important.

One should be internal to these institutions, whether they are corporations

or whether they are governments, whether it's courts, to reveal what they know

and how they evaluate, even if it is against the rules,

to weigh the balance between the public's need to know and the government's desire to keep this information secret.

The government cannot simply claim that these things must be kept secret

especially when they reveal violation of human rights, or laws or our values.

In these cases, theses claims must be tested, they must be measured, they must be surveyed.

I would argue courts are a good venue for this, unfortunately we see that

national courts in the context of surveillance states, are not truly independent, they are not allowed to measure these cases.

And this goes beyond the sort of discussion we are talking about today,

but can we create new structures, multinational, international structures to evaluate these things?

To take the best arguments of the government that have been exposed

and the arguments of the journalists and their sources revealing what they believe to be serious matters of public importance

and to decide in a neutral and objective manner which argument is more persuasive.

Last question: Is there any ways in which we can be useful to you given your situation?

I think this is a question of course about my vulnerability and the political persecution of the United States' government.

And of course the answer is the pressure to your local governments to recognize that the right to seek asylum is one

that they have all agreed to under the universal declaration of human rights.

The declaration of the United States government itself is a legitimate right.

France, regrettably, blocked the flight of the Bolivian president Evo Morales when he was trying to return home from Russia

from a conference to his country Bolivia and there was a rumor that I was on board and was being taken to Latin America to have asylum there.

This is for instance why I am not able to leave Russia even today.

My government has just cancelled my passport. And they worked very hard to make me not able to travel, regardless of what the law says.

And they have pressured European countries to join in this kind of retaliation

to send a message to everyone else working in the U.S. secret services

that no matter whether what you say is right or wrong, there will be consequences, there will be a retaliation, there will be a price to pay.

And I would argue this is not really about me, I'm the least important part of this.

The real question is: what kind of Europe do you want to have? A Europe that stands with people like Donald Trump

who attacks the press, who prosecutes dissidents, unfortunately supporting president Obama's war on whistleblowers?

Or is there a European Union that could say: our legacy, our identity is being not just the old home of progress for western civilization,

but the new and endorsing voice for human rights in our modern countries.

Thank you very much, Edward Snowden (Applause)

[ASMR]Tiramisu & Chocolate Cream Puffs - Duration: 11:39.

Wow!∑(゚ロ゚;

Hmm Hmm...
