Within the paths of righteousness,
E'en for His own name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through death's dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.
My table Thou hast furnished

And my cup overflows.

You're late.
I was delayed.
Let's get going.
Tell me about the russian mission.
We were supposed to kill Katya Volskaya.
We failed.
Whose idea was it, anyway ?
Vialli.
Some were getting frustrated with how intractable she's proven to be.
That's why she as value to us.
She'll keep the fight going.
Volskaya is more useful alive.
Always has been.
Sombra would agree with you.
She's been up to some extracurricular activities.
She thinks she's clever
But I've been keeping tabs on her.
I don't mind a little ambition in my people.
I saw that someone killed Mondatta.
It's Lacroix.
Tensions in London are boiling over.
Hasn't been this bad since after the uprising.
That... was a missed opportunity.
But who would have thought that Overwatch would get involved ?
Speaking of which
I retrieved part of the Overwatch database.
I've already taken a few names off the list.
Morrison and Amari ?
No, not yet.
I hope you're not getting sentimental.
No.
We can deal with all that later.
First, I want to speak with Maximillien.
Need a loan ?
I need to get the lay of the land...
... and some new clothes.
I was impressed by your performance in London.
Talon could use more operatives like you
Especially given recent lapses.
"You know you're on the open channel ?"
Right on clue...
Ask her about Saint Petersburg.
"Spare me the commentary."
"Just let me know if anything seems out of the ordinary."
You're making me think you don't trust him.
I don't trust anyone.
Maximillien.
Akande
How's lady luck treating you tonight ?
You know there's no such thing as luck.
Otherwise, they might actually let us play the games.
You're looking well.
You sound surprised.
"Voulez-vous lancer les dés, madame ?" (Do you want to throw the dices, madam ?)
Merci. (Thanks.)
Prison is a hard place.
Accidents happen all the time.
I'm very careful.
Apparently.
And yet
Plans have progressed even while you've been out of contact.
War between humans and Omniacs
Seems all but inevitable...
"Les jeux sont faits, rien ne va plus." (The die is cast, nothing goes.)
... thanks in no small part to your friend here.
Tout le plaisir est pour moi. (It's my pleasure.)
Mes compliments. (My compliments.)
"Sept !" (Seven !)
There are those in our organization who will be please to have you back
But some may have concerns...
... about wether you will keep the money flowing.
I will deal with them. They need to be reminded about their parts.
I wonder my friend. You're not as popular as you used to be.
Many were happy to see you go away.
"Faites vos jeux." (Place your bets.)
Not you, of course.
Of course not. We have history.
And I respect a man with vision.
"Heads up, boss."
"Company headed your way."
Then who are they ?
As I said...
Many were happy to see you go away.
Time to go, Lacroix.
It's bad luck to leave the table when you're shooting.
Watch my chips.
"Joueur suivant." (Next player.)
Attendez ! (Wait !)
Vialli's men ?
So it would seem.
Take care of this mess.
I'll see you in Venice.
Target...
... neutralized.
DIE, DIE, DIE !
Targets netralized.
Akande.
What a suprised to see you here.
I've been hearing that a lot lately.
It has never been anything personnal between us, you know.
Our disagrement is purely on the course we are to take.
The profit we stand to lose.
Things have changed since you've been away.
I'm sure you will see that the path I have charted for our organization is for the best.
Profit is not our concern.
You know better.
We aren't criminals, satisfied by wealth and power.
We know better.
There is no "we".
Talon is going in a different direction.
It is.
But you won't be coming along.
Who was that ?
No one should worry about.
The rest are all taken care of.
Good.
Let's go.
We have a war to start.

Worst Video Game Endings Ever - Duration: 4:51.
There's nothing worse than spending hours playing through a massive game, just to arrive
at an ending that disappoints in every way.
And yet it happens more often than you'd think, even in extremely popular games.
Whether due to irresponsible cliffhangers or just plain bad writing, here are some of
the worst game endings ever.
Major spoilers ahead.
Watch Dogs
After spending an insane amount of time inching towards a resolution for Aiden Pearce's story
of revenge in Watch Dogs, you'd think the payoff would be colossal.
But it all just dissolves into a convoluted mess.
You take out the game's main villain by hacking his pacemaker and then staring at him through
a window—yeah, it's as stupid as it sounds.
You then go after even more bad guys: one in an uneventful lighthouse showdown, and
the next inside a garage at the story's epilogue.
It's literally yawn-inducing.
And the whole time you're slogging through this drab finale—not to mention sitting
through all of the game's credits—you're constantly reminded that none of this conspiracy
and vengeance business really matters, because Pearce doesn't see an inch of character development
throughout the entire dozen-plus hour journey.
"You play a beautiful game, but sometimes you still lose."
Yeah, you said it, bad guy!
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Imagine you're watching a great movie, but the power goes out halfway through it.
Well, that's what you get with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
The final showdown is essentially the end of the first act's narrative, leaving the
door wide open for the real conflict to begin.
"Well, now we got names - Manderley and Page.
The collective won't stop until we bring these guys down."
Unfortunately, that's also where the game ends.
In that sense, it's one of gaming's worst endings—because it isn't one.
Mankind Divided has no resolution, only a heavy-handed cliffhanger designed to force
players to buy the next installment if they want closure with the narrative.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
This game is a colossal pain when it comes to 100-percenting its content.
You've got to find every single secret stage exit and hidden path in the hub worlds, complete
every single level, find and collect each level's three big star coins, and then triumph
over that godforsaken bonus world.
You'd imagine Nintendo has a pretty big reward in store for those willing to slog through
this game's nightmarish completionist challenge.
Turns out, there's nothing but a "thanks for playing" message that leaves you feeling like
a complete idiot for having spent all that time working toward a meaningless goal.
Mortal Kombat 4 - Jax's Ending
This is the kind of ending that had to have been made as a joke.
There's no other explanation for how bad it is.
The characters' animations are super stiff, the voice acting is abysmal, and the dialogue
is in so-bad-it's-good territory.
"This is not a brutality.
This is a fatality."
[Screaming]
Really, this cutscene works best as a blatant mockery of the Mortal Kombat series.
Jax doesn't sound intimidating, and Jarek?
Oh boy.
His vocals are probably the most awkward noises ever recorded for a cutscene in the entire
industry.
"Neverrrr!"
[Screaming]
Vanquish
Coming from PlatinumGames, the developer behind tons of critically lauded games like MadWorld
and Bayonetta, Vanquish was another knockout release that sold poorly and was quietly slated
to never receive a sequel.
Which is too bad, because it ends on a big, fat, irresponsible cliffhanger.
"Our ascent to power is complete.
On to the next phase."
There's basically zero resolution to the story, with the main villain escaping, the hero stranded
in space, the United States military in chaos, and a ton of other little threads still dangling
after the credits roll.
It's agonizing for fans to see an ending like this go unresolved indefinitely.
Odyssey to the West
This is one of the more noble failures of video game storytelling, as it tries really,
really hard to be good.
The issue is, it uses a twist that a certain other sci-fi story once did—The Matrix.
Barring a cool appearance from Andy Serkis himself—who also voices and motion captures
the protagonist of the game—there's not a lot of good stuff to say about this ending.
It's just a guy literally explaining everything.
"I can explain."
It's all kind of a letdown after the insane journey you just played through.
And though it has the right sense of importance and scale, all you really do is doom an entire
shelter of humans to starvation and savagery by destroying their virtual-reality life support
systems.
Sonic Lost World
For such a fun game, the final cutscene of Sonic Lost World felt like the ending of a
bad Saturday morning cartoon.
You beat the final boss and then a cutscene takes over, wherein Tails swoops in, says
some stuff about the power of friendship, and bam!
Everything is fixed.
"Here's your energy back, world.
Bon appetit!"
There was no meaning to the story, and it's all because of that overly short, underwhelming
ending.

Goal setting for CH 1.0e10 until Clicker Heroes 2 release - Duration: 3:23.
Hi Guys, today I want to share with you some thoughts on goal setting, as we watch the
footage of reaching zone 1 million in Clicker Heroes patch 1.0e10.
It has been a long journey and one that could have ended much earlier if I didn't set a
goal of beating this particular zone level.
Setting goals in game and in real life will help you overcome anything standing in your way
It's an invisible force that moves you forward.
When I came back to Clicker Heroes after a break and noticed that new patch came out
I was curious to see the new content.
Reading the cost of new heroes on the wiki was a bit intimidating.
I didn't think I would unlock them.
I started with baby steps.
I have set a goal for myself to reach zone 100000, which was slightly higher than my
previous record.
It is good if the goal is difficult as it helps you go beyond your average.
From the other hand the goal should be realistic and achievable or else you may get discouraged
from trying.
If your goal is far away you can set smaller goals to track your progress and help you
keep motivated.
Choosing milestones is like building a plan.
You envision yourself achieving the goal and think of what may be required in the process.
My dream of reaching zone 1 million required a lot of clicking, especially before I learned
that V-click can purchase exact ancients quantities.
At some point the dream comes true.
Let me know what will you do when you reach your next Clicker Heroes goal.
Will you keep playing and aim even higher?
Will you start a new game from scratch?
I guess I will do both.
Hitting the zone cap sounds interesting.
Similarly starting new playthrough.
I could do an Iron-man challenge like not use gilded levels or play idle only.
I also thought about speed-runs and achieving zone 1 million in minimum number of transcensions.
Let me know what would you be interested in watching or doing yourself.
Alright guys, we are just before the final boss.
Before we go further let's just turn nicer graphics back on.
I have been using reduced rendering quality to improve game performance.
And the guardian of zone 1000000 is an ooze.
Kind of disappointing it is not a unique animation like first 10 Centurion Bosses have.
Oh well.
We did it boys.
Now it its time for new challenges.
Time to reach new heights.
Time to reach the bottom, loose all game progress and start over?
Maybe?
I hope you will reach your goals and most importantly enjoy the process of getting to
where you want to be.
Until then, keep clicking and I will see you in the next video.

Disney's All-Star Music Resort: Room Tour Walk Around Calypso Pool, Food Court, Arcade, Check-In WDW - Duration: 10:06.
Where are we? Say, we're staying at the Rock Inn. At All-Star Music.
Where's our room? Ours is 4560. All-Star Music! Giant guitars! WDW Walt Disney World.
Rock Inn. Look at the giant jukebox! Here's Donna getting ready to go into
our building, which is the Rock Inn, Building 4. That was easy as pie. Okay, so
this is what the beds look like. Looks like just a regular double bed.
There's the headboard. Up above, there's just like music symbols. The TV: that's a
flat-screen. Looks like there's a, mini-fridge and so that's good. Right. Oh
that's the size of the fridge. Like a college dorm fridge. There's three
drawers here, so that f you want to unpack your bag you could. There's a little
table right here. There's a Bible from the Gideons. Alarm clock. There's Donald
Duck with some instruments. There's Goofy, Donald, Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto. And it
looks like coat hangers where you can hang your coats. This is the bathroom. So,
there's a hari dryer, iron, ironing board, extra towels, pillows, soap, ice bucket, and
this is what the bathroom looks like. So, very basic. There's a shower curtain
that's all music type instruments. It's in like a burnt orange and a green. And
there's the shampoos. And they're really pretty big, like there's the conditioner.
That's a pretty big bottle to get. Shampoo. It's H2O Sea Marine. There's the
soap, bath towels, very basic. And there's the sink and the mirror. This is the view
of the Rock Inn area from the second floor. There's a nice old Chevy Bel Air
down there. I'm gonna guess... '56, '58. I don't know my cars! Right by our building
there's a big speaker. Giant! And there are two pools at All-Star Music. This is
the Piano Pool. It's the smaller one, so this would be a quieter area to swim in,
relax in. It's got a Little Mermaid statue over there.
We're headed to Melody Hall. That's the food court and regular check-in area. I
know Cohen's loving it! Here's a giant drum set. Disney's All-Star Jazz Band.
That's a huge drum set. There's one on either side. Everywhere you look
there's pretty strong clues that you're in All-Star Music. There's the saxophone,
the trumpet, conga drum, maracas. There are music notes everywhere. I don't know what that
song is though, but it's in 2/4 time! We're hungry so we're going to the
Intermission Food Court.
My grandson said he was HUNGRY! They've got chicken nuggets, Beyond Beef Burger, pizza,
pasta. There's grilled steak, an American Classic Burger,
and Chicken Caprese sandwich. And in this section, these are items that you
can pre-order. You don't just pick them up here. You go to the register and place
your order, and they give you a pager. It'll go off when your food is ready, and
then you walk around the corner from the registers. And this is where you pick up
your pizza when your buzzer goes off. So, a pretty good system. We got our
refillable mugs, too. There's the bakery section with some cool
cupcakes. This one's got snowflakes in it...an Elsa cupcake. A Mickey one! Which one do you like? I want to eat all of them. Oh, good choice!
You can get a cappuccino, mocha latte, different drinks over here.
And you can also get...ice cream! Lots of desserts over here. Rolls and
pastries. Monster cookies and cupcakes. A lot to look forward to after your main meal.
Donna just made a trip to the bakery. What'd you get? This is a red
forest cupcake, I can't wait to try it. It looks good!
Look at that, Cohen! Grandma's got glitter on her cupcake!
Glitter that you can eat!
Look - do you see that! It's beautiful! Are you sure you don't want just a bite of the frosting! Wow!
Right across from the food court is the Arcade. Look's like it's pretty big. We're gonna
go in there. It's also has a Fuel Rod station,
and you can press pennys. There's quite a few games in here. There's
Air Hockey, Skee-Ball, a big Space Invaders game. And to play the
games, you need to get a card. This shows how many points you get for the money you pay.
I noticed Skee-Ball took 30 points to play, but I'm sure it varies a lot from game the game.
The best value is $25 for 1250 play points plus 750 bonus points, so like 2000 points total.
You can use cash or credit card to purchase and recharge a card. Pretty big
on driving games here. Defender and Pac-Man.
There's the Typhoon. It's like a roller coaster simulator. And basketball. In the
arcade, they have a board that shows the recreation activities for the resort.
Even the Movies Under The Stars. Those start at 6:30. This week they were
doing "Lilo and Stitch", "Mulan", "The Little Mermaid", and "Toy Story". At 12:00 noon they
have a Calypso Pool Party. And today they did bingo, arts and crafts,
hula-hoop games. Fact or Fiction, Calypso Dance
Extravaganza at five o'clock, and then the movie. So something different every day.
The gift shop here is called "Maestro Mickey's, and looks like it's decent sized.
So, we're gonna go take a look and see what kind of merchandise they have.
There's this board as you go in, that has some trivia questions on it from
What strange land does Giselle travel to?What kingdom is Giselle from?
And so on. So, that's kind of cool. I'm sure that changes every day, so check
back and see if you know the answers. Here's some ears of course. There's all
kinds of different ones. Like even a bride and groom set of ears. "It's My Birthday" ears.
Stitch, and Pluto, Donald. Goofy. Sorcerer Mickey.
They have these hats that say '28 on them. "2018 is the year to be here". We're here. so good timing!
This is the lobby at All-Star Music. It's about 9:30 at night and there's people checking in still.
Okay, this is the laundromat here at All-Star Music. And they have
detergent right over here that you can buy. And there's the dryers. There's what
the washers are.
Oh, it says dressing room for women. Oh, probably due to the pool being right here. So, that's probably why the restrooms are here and
there's the one for the men. This is the Calypso Pool, and right by it
is the "Singing Spirits", bar. Alcoholic and frozen drinks, right outside the food court.
We really enjoyed our stay here. And this completed our goal of staying
at all of the All-Star resorts. So, now we've stayed at All-Star Music, Movies, and
Sports. And they're all good value for the money.
Buses will come and pick you up and take you anywhere. There are playgrounds for the kids.
A splash pad at All-Star Sports. Plenty of things to do here. Two good pools.
We would really recommend it. And you can stay here and save a little money.
It was a little walk from our room to Melody Hall, but not too bad. The main
pool is called the Calypso Pool, that's right by Melody Hall. This is also the
Calypso area on either side, so those are good rooms to stay in. And this is a nice
big pool. And it's got The Three Caballeros out in the middle. And these rooms
right around the Calypso Pool would be considered Preferred Rooms. And how much
extra do they charge for Preferred Rooms? $20 a night. It's totally worth it for the kids, and even
Grandma and Grandpa's! Yeah! Less walking, so good for grandpa grandmas. But the
Preferred Room area is really nice to have, because of your closeness to
the Calypso Pool, Melody Hall, and the food court, and the gift shops, and the
arcade. So this is very handy. And between the Calypso and Jazz rooms, there's a
pathway that leads to the playground. It says it's for the enjoyment of children
ages 2 to 12. And the playground is covered in kind of a fine sand. And
there's different kinds of playground equipment here for them to play on and
slide on and just run around in this area. So, that's kind of nice. There's some
more of the playground equipment. This is just another little added feature of this resort.
So, goodbye Disney. We will miss you until the next time!
We'll be back! But it's time to head home. Bye, Mickey! It's been a great adventure!

BREAKING: Obama Under PRESSURE After Senator Drops "DEEP STATE" Bombshell…
IT'S HAPPENING.
Senator: Deep State FORCED Trump To Talk Negatively About Russia.
According to one Senator, president Donald Trump was forced to speak negatively about
Russia by the deep state.
Trump's brief mention of Russia in his State of the Union address means he doesn't want
a confrontation, but he also wants to "placate the hawks," said Senator Richard Black from
Virginia.
Senator Black said he believes that Russia as well as China receiving only one mention
in the 90-minute address is not a coincidence.
Black argued that president "Trump was forced to refer to China and Russia in negative terms,
but he moved on quickly."
Most of the mainstream media immediately jumped to accuse Trump of being too soft on Moscow
in comparison to his predecessor, Barack Obama, who went on a sanctions crusade against Russia
late in his term.
Black said that while Trump may not give up on his intention to improve relations with
Moscow, it was impossible to make any forward progress thanks to a "deep state" that
"conspired to drive a wedge between us."
According to RT, by initiating a probe into "concocted allegations of Russia collusion"between
Moscow and the Trump campaign team, led by special councilor Robert Muller, "they blocked
President Trump from moving closer to Russia, as he wanted to do," Black argued.
"I do not believe he personally wants to raise tensions with either Russia or China,"
the senator said, adding that the decision by the White House to hold off on sanctions
against Russia under the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act [CAATSA]
have "angered the War Hawks."
This decision has also upset the mainstream media (the US's propaganda arm as well.)
According to Black, Trump succumbed to pressure from the war hawks in the deep state too.
This was evident when he announced the US would be beefing up the US military presence
in Afghanistan in August.
"Trump was reportedly angered by his staff's recommendation to expand the war by sending
4,000 additional troops.
But the war hawks prevailed and we continue to waste men and treasure on that ill-fated
venture," Black said.
Contrary to US leader's assurance that "in the end, we will win" in a protracted Afghan
war, the Senator said he believes that "over time, the US is unlikely to experience any
greater success" than the British Empire and the Soviet Union, which were both stuck
in Afghanistan for years.

The deep state's propaganda arm, the mainstream media, assures the public that there is no
"deep state" and it's all just a conspiracy theory.

Emmerdale spoilers: Natalie J Robb exposes truth behind Moira exit rumours
Emmerdale spoilers revealed Moira (Natalie J Robb) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) could be headed for a permanent split.
Moira admitted she wanted to move to Glasgow with baby Isaac to get away from the village for a while.
She hasnt had it easy, what with her murdering Emma Barton (Gillian Kearney) and then losing son Adam (Adam Thomas) who took the rap and then went on the run.
Cain has been trying to get back in Moiras good books and to help her out with Isaac, of whom he is the father.
He gives Moira an ultimatum – meet him on the bridge at 5pm if she loves him, but will she?.
"Im waiting and it was a very cold night.
She was nice and warm" Jeff Hordley Speaking to This Morning presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, Natalie and Jeff gave a sneak preview of what is to come.
Jeff, who has been part of the Emmerdale cast since 2000, said: It was cold, thats all Im gonna say.
Im waiting and it was a very cold night.
She was nice and warm, thats all Ill say. But it seems Moira is sticking around – or at least will be back – as Natalie has been filming over the past week.
She confessed that she couldnt be at the National Television Awards as she was working, alongside Jeff.
Speaking about the background, Natalie said: Theres just a lot of guilt and shes trying to get away from the whole situation.
She thinks its best for her and Isaac to get away for a while. Jeff said: For him, there was the big thing with Charity, but Moira is the love of his life, undoubtedly.
Shes the one woman who tames him. Holly and Phil spoke about Moiras recent difficult storylines, especially the amount of crying shes done.
Natalie admitted shed cut some of it out, saying: In the scripts when it said she had to cry, Id be like, No. Not everyone deals with things by crying..
Jeff added: I think its more powerful when you save those moments.
Sometimes writers can be like, He cries, she cries, just like that. The duo even commented on the name fans have come up for their characters romance – Coira.
They both laughed and Natalie said: It sounds like a fish, with Jeff adding: A Coira carp. But will Coira live to see another day following Cains ultimatum? This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am and Emmerdale airs 7pm, both on ITV.

Qa'a - The Damascus room | Islamic Art and Architecture
there's this fabulous sound of water on this low fountain in this lush beautiful
room and that's one of the sounds that would have welcomed anyone into a
demoscene house the sound of the fountain it would escort you in to one
of the reception rooms so we're standing in a car which is one of the winter
reception rooms from a house from Damascus from the early 18th century
that is now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art it is filled with cut stone
wooden panels which are decoratively carved in complex patterns there are
cushions and the rooms shelves are filled with ceramics and books it feels
as if we're in a very prosperous environment we are in a very prosperous
environment actually this was a house that probably burned to somebody who's
affluent this is where a merchant or a local political figure would be meeting
and greeting his guests so I love this because so often when we think about
history when we think about religious spaces historical spaces but this is
allowing us into the private life of a person in Damascus in their early 1700s
and that's what makes it so extraordinary we get to sense of how
people lived so you have to imagine that you are coming to call on the great man
of this house so you come in hopefully you're important enough that as you are
ushered in from the courtyard and you come into this car you enter the space
around the fountain called the at about like a threshold and if you're important
you take off your shoes and you are escorted to sit on the deewan in the
other part of the room that is called the toes are this is this kind of raised
platform if you're not so important you get stuck in the a tebah which while
it's beautiful it has inlaid stone it's a big insult to be left there you're
with people's shoes all right we don't want to stay down here
so we ascend up this step and we sit on the cushions and perhaps the servants
come in they might serve us some fruit they might serve us some refreshing
drinks they might serve us coffee one of the Arab saints called coffee a
gift from God I'm there you could also be given a water pipe an argue look as
they're often called so you could smoke apples about
if they were in season pomegranate juice is something you get in September in
Damascus so you'd be seated depending on how important you were towards the
central part of the rear wall and from there you'd be able to really admire the
glory of this room which is decorated in the ajami style Naja me means foreign or
Persian and Arabic we don't know where this type of technique comes from but it
was around in Egypt and other parts of central Arab lands before it came to
Damascus but what it means and what it is this is gorgeous technique that we
see on the walls it was a treatment for wood panels so what you do is you take
your bit of wood you would put a gypsum mixture down on it so that's kind of
like plaster yeah you create a raised and textured surface that you would then
stencil giving yourself a pattern on top of that you would put down a type of
metal leaf you could put down gold leaf you could put down silver leaf we even
get examples of tin leaf where the Tim seems to be from England and was
important on top of that it would then be painted so originally this room was
not as dim as it is now but pretty vibrant incredibly vibrant you have to
think in full Technicolor now many of the different houses in Damascus that
are still extant today we have pink we have light green we have vibrant blues
fuchsias purples we have every gorgeous vibrant color you can think of but a lot
of these rooms have been revarnished and that varnish then cannot always be
removed there's really an attempt to create a sense of liveliness for the I
just like the fountain creates liveliness for the ear I think that's
exactly right and you really can also see that one of the most dominant
features in the room the mossad the niche this is not a prayer niche it's
just a decorative niche and I noticed that it's aligned on the axis of the
entry so that this would have been the first thing you would have seen exactly
and while you have to imagine out the Turkish tiles that are there in the
center it really would have been a spectacular structure so you can see at
the top you see the hood and the Makar nose now those are the little fragments
of a dome that create this geometric multiplication beautifully complex they
are a fundamental element of Islamic art we see them not only in decorative
capacities but they also are great ways to get from a square base to a dome so
we see them in a lot of mosques whenever you see a mu cornice you know you are
somewhere where Islam has been within those
within that niche I see some precious objects in fact I see that throughout
the room and so this was really a way of showing off you would show fantastic
Ewers carved metalwork bowls ceramics so people could see your affluence it was a
place in which you could show off your knowledge your wealth and we can see the
learning and the knowledge in your culture also on the walls when we look
at the inscriptions the calligraphy is the other thing that dominates in this
room we can see that the cornice both of the ceiling and of the top of the
wainscoting of this wooden whole piece has got cartouche is with calligraphy
and then we can see them over most of the niches on the walls there are three
poems here poetry is a dominant art form so there really is this aesthetic
quality that exists not only in an auditory sense I only visually but also
linguistically here you are meant to be able to look and understand and engage
on different levels all of your senses are being stimulated I'm interested in
the fact that the room doesn't have any fixed furniture and that it was also
seasonal this would have been off the north side of the courtyard so that it
could have taken advantage of the sun's direct rays during the winter we were in
the world before air conditioning I mean you need to move to where it's either
warmest or coolest depending on the weather
so the call might be your winter reception room because it gets the most
Sun it's in the interior but in the summer you would go to the e1 which was
usually located on the south side so it was north facing which would be much
more pleasant in the summer originally on the rear wall here this small niche
wasn't there it was a larger niche and in there would have been betting rolls
carpets things that you would use for sleeping and you'd bring them down and
put them in sleep in here so you wouldn't have had a dedicated bedroom
like we have now this would have been a space that would have had multiple
purposes depending on the season and depending on the time of day if I
could I would certainly take up residence in this house or any of the
different houses in Damascus because there is something so ethereal and
gorgeous about them and it's one of the things that has attracted travelers to
Damascus people who come to these houses whether it's Isabel Burton or Frederic
Leighton they are so touched by them that they cannot say how meaningful they
are other than that they always longed to return
