Youtube daily report Feb 5 2018

A person can be healthy...but can a country be healthy?

Population health indicators measure the distribution of health throughout a given population.

These kinds of indicators are what sociologists use to study patterns in health outcomes across different social groups.

Because, like all things sociological, we want to understand the wider patterns of health.

So, if you're trying to figure out your own risks for a disease, it might be useful to know the average number of people like you who have contracted that disease.

Or if you're a policymaker trying to figure out which diseases to spend money and time on,

you might want to know which disease has the highest mortality rates in your country.

As we talked about last time, there are lots of factors that can affect your personal health – and those factors often vary by social group.

So when we explore population health across social dimensions like age, gender, race, ethnicity, class or religious beliefs,

we come up with differences in what health looks like for that group.

Let's start by talking about what some of the important indicators for population health are,

and see what these indicators tell us about health in the United States.

[Theme Music]

When we talk about the importance of health, there's an underlying implication here: humans don't want to die.

The healthier you are, the more likely you are to put off a visit from the grim reaper.

Which is why we use the length of someone's life as one indicator of how healthy they are.

One crude indicator of a population's health is life expectancy – the average number of years an individual can be expected to live.

And you can use life expectancy to get a better understanding of what kind of person tends to live longer,

which is a pretty good proxy for the overall health of a community.

For example, in the United States, and for that matter, almost every other country on the planet, women tend to outlive men.

For men in the United States, the average life expectancy at birth is 76.3 and for women, it's 81.2.

And White Americans tend to live longer than Black Americans.

79 is the life expectancy for White Americans, whereas for Black Americans the number is quite a bit lower: 75.5

In addition to helping us to understand the overall health of the population, or portions of it, life expectancy also tells us something about its future.

Do we expect to have more elderly citizens in the future?

If people live longer, what does that mean for the retirement age?

This has implications for the structure of work and leisure and helps when planning the costs of things like social security and medicare.

Another important population statistic is the birth rate for different populations.

Just as life expectancy helps us answer questions that go beyond health, the birth rate tells us about more than just the reproductive health of a population.

There are a couple different ways to measure the number of kids being born.

One is a straight birth rate: in a given year, how many live births are there for every thousand people?

But that might not be the right measure.

After all, if people are living a lot longer, there are going to be more people who are living past child-bearing age.

This would make the birth rate go down, even if the number of kids each generation has stays constant.

Because of this, we might use what's called a total fertility rate: the number of live births for every 1000 women between the ages of 15 and 44.

Total fertility rates let us compare birth patterns across generations.

A larger generation might have more kids – after all, more parents means more kids – but there might be fewer kids per person, or vice versa!

The number of births per year in the US has been declining over the last 50 years.

Some of that is because there are fewer women of childbearing age now than there were when the Baby Boomers were having kids.

But even If we look at the total fertility rate, that has also gone down,

from 68.4 births per 1000 women of childbearing age in 1980, to 62.5 births per 1000 women of childbearing age in 2015.

Now, if we split up the population up by race, we see big differences in the total fertility rate.

It's highest for Hispanic Americans, at 71.5 births per 1000 women, and lowest for non-Hispanic White Americans, with a total fertility rate of 59.3.

And even here you can see the influence of society on human procreation.

Access to things like contraception and prenatal care, and cultural traditions, shape the number of children that are born.

So, birth rates tell us about the categories of people entering our society, but we might also care about who is leaving us, too.

Mortality rates are death rates in a given population, and they can tell a lot us about its overall health.

For example, infant mortality rates are often a key indicator of a group's health.

Because infants are especially vulnerable to disease and malnutrition,

their mortality rate tells us something about broader issues, like poverty levels, and availability and quality of food, water, and health services.

For example, Black Americans are more than twice as likely as White Americans to die in infancy,

partially because these children are more likely to be born in lower income families.

Lower economic standing generally means less access to health care,

and there's clear evidence that Black Americans are much less likely to have access to quality prenatal care than other racial and ethnic groups.

Overall mortality rates can also help us understand the pace of deaths in a community:

in a given year, how many people in that group have died as a fraction of that population?

Mortality rates tend to be higher for men than women, and higher for Black Americans than White Americans…

which might not too surprising given what we learned about life expectancies for those groups earlier.

In the US, the leading causes of mortality for both men and women of all races are heart disease and cancer.

But what kills men and what kills women differs a bit as we get further down the list of leading causes of death.

Men are much more likely to die from an unintentional injury or accident than women are and also have much higher suicide rates than women.

There are mortality differences by race as well, with Black men more likely to die from homicide than other groups.

Drilling down into this data a little more, we can also understand population health by looking at the types of diseases that different groups are susceptible to.

Morbidity refers to the presence of disease, while morbidity rates tell us something about the frequency of disease within a given population.

Diseases can also be co-morbid, meaning that two diseases coexist in a person at the same time.

Comorbidity rates tell us how common it is for people in a population to have any two diseases at one time.

One thing to note here: incidence of a disease is not the same thing as the prevalence of a disease.

Incidence refers to the number of new cases reported in a given time frame, whereas prevalence refers to the number of existing cases in the population.

So, put another way, incidence tells you how likely you are to contract a disease.

Prevalence tells you how many people already have it.

And I'm sure it won't surprise you to hear that morbidity rates within a society can vary a lot across demographic groups for a number of reasons,

like the racial makeup of a society or the age profile of those people.

Different subpopulations may have different genetic makeups that can influence health.

For example, Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry is associated with higher rates of BRCA-1 mutations, which is a genetic risk factor for breast cancer.

Different populations may also be exposed to health risks resulting from their physical environments, like the neighborhood they live in.

For example, Black children in the US have higher asthma rates relative to White children,

partly because of higher exposure to environmental toxins in their homes and neighborhoods.

But it can be hard to separate the effects of something like pollution from other aspects of where a person lives that might also affect their health.

People who live in poorer neighborhoods are more likely to be exposed to more pollution

– so is it the pollution or the poverty that leads to worse health outcomes?

Let's go to the Thought Bubble to look at this question more closely.

Three American economists, Janet Currie, Michael Greenstone, and Enrico Moretti

figured out a way to separate out the effects of pollution on kids' health by looking at what happened when the government cleaned up toxic waste sites.

All across the United States there are places known as Superfund sites –

areas that the government has deemed so polluted that it requires an expensive, government funded cleanup to make the place habitable.

As of 2015, the EPA found that 53 million Americans live within 3 miles of a Superfund site, including about 18% of children under the age of 5.

Currie, Greenstone, and Moretti compared health outcomes for children who were born near a Superfund site either before or after it was cleaned up

and found that kids born after the clean up were 20% less likely to be born with a congenital anomaly, like heart murmurs.

Since the only thing that had changed with the clean up was the level of pollution, this study tells us something you might already have guessed:

being exposed to toxic chemicals at a young age can be really damaging to your health.

Thanks Thought Bubble.

There are lots of environmental risks that can be damaging to your health – houses with lead paint, second hand smoke, smog.

Because these risk factors tend to be more common in low income areas, they disproportionately affect less educated and minority Americans.

And low income Americans are also more likely to experience social environments that pose health risks.

For example, the amount of stress a person is under can have a big effect on both their mental and physical well-being.

And these groups are more likely to live or work in high stress environments, like neighborhoods with higher crime rates, or unfulfilling jobs with long hours.

Another social factor that affects health? Racism and discrimination.

Sociologist David Williams has connected this unique psychosocial stressor to increased rates of stress- related disease morbidity among African Americans,

like heart disease that may contribute to higher risks of early mortality.

All of these factors – the individual risk factors, environmental risk factors, social risk factors, and psychological risk factors –

combine to help explain the health disparities we see across different social groups in the US.

Today, we learned about some of the indicators that help us measure health for different populations,

including life expectancy, birth rates, mortality rates, and morbidity rates.

Then, we talked about three contributors to health disparities:

individual factors like genetics, physical factors like pollution, and social factors like stress.

A brief introduction to Vechain - Duration: 2:23.

We're about to change the way we trust.

Not specifically how we trust eachother, but more in how we trust in business.

How?

By utilizing technology called Blockchain.

Blockchain provides an open decentralized database shared by nodes participating in

a large network.

Think of it like a chain of computers that must all approve a transaction before it can

be verified and recorded in the database, creating a record whose authenticity can be

verified by the entire community.

Using this groundbreaking technology, Vechain has developed a powerful software platform

for business that makes it simple and secure for manufacturers to collect, manage and share

important product data with vendors and consumers.

A product on the VeChain platform is assigned a unique ID, which is stored simultaneously

on the blockchain, and placed on the product with an NFC chip, RFID tag or QR code.

While the blockchain technology ensures the security of the collected data, the chip,

tag or code can be interacted with through the platform at any point during the product's

life by both vendors and consumers.

This opens up a broad range of solutions to existing problems involving brand protection,

anti-counterfeit, and even food safety by monitoring the temperature of food during

transportation.

With an ever growing list of real-world uses, Vechain is now rebranding to Vechain Thor

to achieve its vision for the new standalone platform.

The platform will also make use of its own native token asset known as the VeChain Thor

(VET) that will generate tokens over time called THOR.

These tokens will be used as gas that is needed for smart contract execution on the blockchain

as Vechain will allow governments & enterprises to run ICO's & dAPPS.

VeChain is one of the most established blockchain companies in the industry and already has

long-lasting partnerships with giants such as PwC and DNV GL aswell as a national level

contract with the Chinese government.

The sky is the limit as VeChain is positioning itself to be THE disruptive and innovative

force that reshapes the way we think about supply chain management.

Would you like to get on the spaceship before it takes off?

Adam Schiff Slams Devin Nunes As White House 'Pet,' Trump Smacks Him Down With 3 Words - Duration: 4:26.

Adam Schiff Slams Devin Nunes As White House 'Pet,' Trump Smacks Him Down With 3 Words

Rep. Adam "Shifty" Schiff (D-CA) recently accused Devin Nunes (R-CA) of being the White

House "pet" for his courageous efforts to expose the left's dirty secrets.

Now, President Donald Trump is delivering a brutal smackdown to Schiff with 3 words.Adam

Schiff has been hard at work trying to make excuses for the extensive level of corruption

exposed in the FISA abuse memo recently released by the House Intelligence Committee.

The California Democrat also knows that the storm is just getting started and that Devin

Nunes (R-CA) is a major player in the fight to expose the left and the deep state for

their crimes against our country.

Nunes has suffered and tolerated unrelenting attacks from the left since first blowing

the political surveillance scandal wide open nearly a year ago.

Now, President Trump has taken to Twitter to put Schiff in his place and tell the epic

truth about Nunes and the kind of man he really is.

"Representative Devin Nunes, a man of tremendous courage and grit, may someday be recognized

as a Great American Hero for what he has exposed and what he has had to endure!" Trump wrote.Schiff

has ramped up the attacks on Nunes recently because he knows that more memos are going

to be released.

According to Daily Caller, Nunes appeared on Fox News to make the shocking revelation

that Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee are guilty of more than one-hundred leaks

of classified information.

This heinous abuse of their positions should have every single Democrat leaker removed

from the committee.

"We know that there has been almost 100 leaks that we believe have come from the Democrats

in the House Intelligence Committee," the chairman declared.

"As of right now, remember a year ago, they were claiming that they had more than circumstantial

evidence of collusion, of Trump colluding with Russians but they keep coming up with

goose eggs.

They have nothing," he added.

I could not agree more with Nunes for reminding the American people that Democrats on the

committee claimed to have more than circumstantial evidence of collusion between Trump and the

Russians during the 2016 presidential campaign.

They had absolutely nothing and continue to have the same.

They are trying to buy time so that deep state hack and Special Counsel Robert Mueller can

come up with some kind of fraudulent obstruction charges against Donald Trump.

Too bad for Mueller, his game is almost over after being exposed as a corrupt liberal operative

who based an entire federal investigation on a politically funded dossier that has been

completely debunked.

Nunes and Schiff are currently exchanging blows in the media over the release of the

FISA abuse memo which exposed corrupt FBI and Department of Justice officials, such

as former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, Deputy

Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page.

The memo was devastating for the deep state because it exposed that the FBI and DOJ did

not disclose the political origins of the Steele dossier, also known as the Trump-Russia

dossier, in its application to obtain a FISA warrant on Trump campaign associate Carter

Page.

The memo also brought to light that former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe testified

that an investigation into Page would not have taken place without the fraudulent dossier

which FBI officials already knew could not be corroborated.

Now, Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee are trying to get their own memo released.

Schiff and other committee Democrats have not revealed a sufficient purpose for their

memo, and it has not yet been approved by the committee for release.Devin Nunes put

Adam Schiff's recent efforts to distort the truth into perspective by saying, "Mr.

Schiff knows he is spreading a false narrative there, but that is not new for him.

He has spread a false narrative the entire time."

President Donald Trump is one-hundred percent correct about Devin Nunes.

The man is a "Great American Hero" and will be remembered as a true patriot who took

on the deep state to restore honor and integrity to our government.

Super Bowl MVP Just Went On LIVE TV With Shock Announcement That Pissed Off The NFL. - Duration: 5:08.

Super Bowl MVP Just Went On LIVE TV With Shock Announcement That Pissed Off The NFL.

The NFL and every gender bent God-hating liberal must be in arms right now.

Super Bowl 52 was one of the best Super Bowls in history, putting up tons of points, over

1,100 yards of offense, trick plays, and a stunning end to the dynasty of Tom Brady and

the New England Patriots as the Eagles were victorious 41-33.

Then Philadelphia fans poured into the streets, had some party time, a few minor incidents,

and everyone went home in disbelief that Philly finally won a Super Bowl.

The Eagles beat Tom Brady and the Patriots with their backup quarterback, Nick Foles.

Foles was later named MVP of Super Bowl 52 for his stellar performance which included

catching a touchdown pass on a trick play.

It wasn't Foles performance, behavior, antics, or anything else that could have triggered

people.

All of the above was near perfection.

It was like Nick Foles had always been a pro-bowl status quarterback.

Nothing you can think of happened.

It was something else that Nick Foles did after the game that could have sparked controversy

and triggered people into meltdowns.

Nick Foles, Coach Doug Pederson, and tight end Zach Ertz did it too.

All three of them praised glory to God in their postgame interview directly after winning

the Super Bowl.

They were classy, excited, thankful, and respectful.

This was three people who embody everything that the NFL player should be.

They are teammates, leaders, and men who respect each other, do their job, and work as a complete

unit.

That's what pushed this team onto a stellar record of 13-3, two playoff victories, and

finally, a Super Bowl win for the city of Philadelphia.

Can you imagine how the NFL felt after those three mentioned "God" on live TV?

This is after the NFL had a tumultuous year with disrespectful flag protesters marring

the sport and turning fans into boycotters.

You can boycott all you want, but if you did, then you missed the most classy team you could

find right now.

No one on the Philadelphia Eagles took a knee for the National Anthem, and the players and

coach were not afraid to speak up about their religion.

You might hate the NFL and Roger Goodell, but you have to love the Eagles.

Goodell will have this turn into a flag football league filled with social justice warriors

if he doesn't get his act together.

Wild Card had more on the situation after Super Bowl 52:

"Despite winning the most games of any team in the NFC, the Eagles became underdogs the

moment Carson Wentz went down with a gruesome knee injury in Week 14.

Backup quarterback Nick Foles, who has admitted that he almost retired a year ago, was given

no shot at delivering the franchise its first ever Super Bowl.

The Eagles were underdogs in all three of their playoff games, including Sunday's

matchup against the Tom Brady-led Patriots.

In an offensive duel that saw more total yardage (1,151) than any Super Bowl in NFL history,

the Eagles stunned the Patriots 41-33.

While the Eagles had a potent running game, it was the arm of Foles that served as the

engine to the offense.

He completed 29 of 44 passes for 374 yards and three touchdowns, with one fluke interception

that bounced out of his receiver's hands.

Foles even had his first-ever touchdown catch on a trick play on a crucial fourth down.

But when Foles was awarded the MVP live on NBC, he refused to bask in the glory himself.

"All glory to God" were the first words out of his mouth, while he held his 7-month

old baby."

The hateful liberal NFL big boys must have their britches in bunches over Foles' comment

about "all glory to God!"

Can you imagine what they were thinking?

These are the same people who allowed people like Colin Kaepernick to start a silly movement

that disrespected fans, the Flag, and America but wouldn't permit a commercial asking

people to stand for the National Anthem.

The Philadelphia Eagles did more than win the Super Bowl.

They stood up for America during the National Anthem, and they had no fear in expressing

their beliefs after the victory.

If there's a team to get you back into football, then this is it.

The NFL just had a terrible year from all the boycotts -but if there's one thing Americans

love, it's football.

Those who boycott have proved their point.

The NFL heard.

If your team isn't acting like rude jerks, then have fun.

Don't take away your favorite sport because of a few clowns.

The Eagles were full of class, respect, and they showed everyone in America how to win

the big game and be prime examples of a classy team who honors all American values.

You have to love this trick play.

Just amazing and all done by a team who stood for the National Anthem and paid respect to

God.

UNFOLDING NOW: Pro Linebacker Just Found DEAD NFL Desperate To Hide Who Killed Him. - Duration: 4:36.

UNFOLDING NOW: Pro Linebacker Just Found DEAD NFL Desperate To Hide Who Killed Him.

The worst season in NFL history just came to an end Sunday night with Super Bowl 52

in Minnesota.

The league didn't just commence on low ratings for what's supposed to be the most watched

television event of the year, it ended in tragedy with the sudden, horrific death of

a top linebacker in the league.

While the Super Bowl winners are celebrating their victory, the NFL is desperate to hide

who killed this pro-football star and now we know why.

This season hasn't just been a season of massive fan and ratings loss, the NFL has

also suffered from an overwhelming number deaths and incarcerations of past and current

football stars.

We've reported of several players who have either died in a car accident unexpectedly

or who were put into prison for stabbing their wife to death, and that was apparently just

the start.

Now the final player of the season was just found dead and how he was killed isn't something

the league wants out.

After spending an entire season disrespecting President Donald Trump and all he stands for,

the Colts' linebacker's death just proved how wrong they were and that Trump was right

all along.

The morning of the Super Bowl on Sunday, word got out that Indianapolis Colts linebacker

Edwin Jackson had tragically lost his life overnight.

It was difficult news for the league to swallow and cast a somber mood over the big game day.

As the Super Bowl stadium filled with fans and the teams took the field, investigators

worked to uncover what happened that led to Jackson's untimely death.

As it turns out, one of Trump's biggest and most controversial policies that many

in the NFL protested, would have prevented the death of one of their own.

The Washington Times reports:

The man accused of killing an NFL player and another man in a DUI-related crash Sunday

morning is a Mexican immigrant whom authorities are trying to deport, according to charging

documents.

Police say 37-year-old Alex Cabrera Gonsales drove a black Ford F-150 pickup truck onto

the emergency shoulder along Interstate 70 around 4 a.m.

Sunday, plowed into a ride-share vehicle, and killed Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin

Jackson and 54-year-old Jeffrey Monroe of Avon.

Booking documents from the Marion County Jail, which can be searched for at http://inmateinfo.indy.gov/IML

and found at case number 1804804, show that Mr. Cabrera Gonsales is an immigrant from

Mexico who is subject to deportation.

Mr. Cabrera Gonsales didn't have a driver's license, tried to flee the scene of the accident

and had a blood-alcohol level of at least .15 (nearly twice the legal limit), authorities

said.

The booking document, which specifies that Mr. Cabrera Gonsales has a detainer request

on him, does not say whether was in the U.S. illegally or as a legal permanent resident

who can still be deported for a serious crime.

"It is believed Gonsales was intoxicated and was driving without a license," Sgt.

John Perrine of the Indiana State Police said in a statement.

"He was transported to the Marion County Jail, the result of the test for intoxication

is pending."

It's unfortunate that tragedies like this prove Trump to be right and even worse that

liberals will continue to rebuke him and work against him in protecting our borders.

Countless people have been killed this year by illegal aliens who would be alive today

if Trump's immigration plan and border control was in full effect without Democrats constantly

intervening.

People, including those in the NFL, seem more hellbent on sticking it to Trump rather than

realizing what's really good from them individually and our country.

The league failed this season since disrespectful acts were allowed to continue week after week

and when the President kindly asked them to show respect for our flag and those who fought

to defend it, that only made the players step up their protesting game.

It was a clear show of defiance against the Commander-in-Chief and it backfired on them

big time.

The future of he NFL might be dead with this last detrimental season and it didn't have

to be.

Hopefully, in the off season, these players and the league leaders take a look at what

they did that destroyed it and come back in the next season without the politics and with

respect for our president.

It's their only chance to make the NFL great again, if it's not too late.
