David Gardner: Every ten or so Rule Breaker Investing podcasts, we do it, we pick stocks.
I call them five-stock samplers because, like that little cheese cracker they offer you
at Whole Foods, you get it for free. We're hoping you like it, recognize qualit,
and decide you want more. The good news is that the performance of my
five-stock samplers has historically been excellent examples and demonstrations of why
Rule Breaker Investing works; why we hope, if you're not already a Motley Fool member,
you'll join a service like Motley Fool Stock Advisor
or Motley Fool Rule Breakers.
make wonderful holiday gifts. The performance of my samplers is good news. Here's the better
news: it's ten podcasts after our last one. Yep, that means that this week on Rule Breaker Investing,
it's my next five-stock sampler. Let's go.
Welcome back to Rule Breaker Investing. I'm David Gardner. So glad you're joining me here
in mid-November. It's been a pretty weak stock market, you may have noticed, in the last
few weeks, I'm even going to say months. n fact, I was double-checking my own math,
my portfolio peaked somewhere in mid-summer. It was mid-July. I'm literally down 20%,
a full 20% shave right off the top here by mid-November. Of course,
it's always sad on the one hand,
because you don't like to lose money. You certainly don't like to lose 20% of what you
had in just a few months. That never feels good. On the other hand, this has happened
many times before. It'll happen many times in the future. Some days it's sunny, and some
days it's rainy, and nobody expects every day to be sunny. It wouldn't even be that
fun a world. You couldn't enjoy the sun, I don't think, if it never rained.
This has put me in a buyer's state of mind, even more so than usual. So, as I thought,
"What should we do for this five-stock sampler?" I decided I'd look for a few things. In fact,
I have four attributes that make up each of the five stocks I'll be sharing with you this week.
The first is that every one of these five
companies is a big-time winner for me and/or for us at The Motley Fool. Specifically, every
one of them is from the Motley Fool Rule Breakers service. And every one of them has done really well.
I'll have occasion to mention how well they've done as I introduce them. That's No. 1.
Because one of my phrases, one of my watch-words of 2018 -- if you've been a listener of this podcast,
you've heard me say it. I'm going to say it again. Winners win. I like to look
among my winners during downtrodden times, because often, those are some of our best
ideas as the market inevitably comes back in time. So, attribute No. 1: big-time winners,
generally over at least a year; really, over the only term that counts, the long-term
Longer-term, big-time winners. The second attribute is that every one of these companies
made a September high. Here we are in November, two months later. Every one of them looked
great just two months ago. The third attribute, and the important one,
probably the one that really brings this podcast together, is that every one of these is down
at least 20% since that September high. Putting these three attributes together,
every one of these are big-time winners that made highs two months ago and are down at least 20% from there.
I feel like we've stocked the pond that we're fishing in. And we'll see as we
review this one, two, and three years from now, whether we were right about this group of
five companies. Because I like to be a little silly on this podcast, too --
and this is just a sampler, after all, we're having fun -- I have a fourth
attribute which is not dissimilar from what I did ten weeks ago when I did my most recent
five-stock sampler. Rule Breaker Investing podcast fans will remember that our last one
ten weeks ago was "Mm, mm, good!" It was five companies, all of which started with the letter M,
that I like over the next three-plus years. Well, I was kind of in a similar frame of mind.
Maybe we can work this. Maybe my producer, Rick Engdahl, who very frequently selects
the titles of each of these podcasts, can pun with me here. It hasn't all come together
for broadcast time, but every one of these companies starts with the letter T.
So, there might be a teasing pun we can play off here. Just teasing, not quite sure. I'm not teasing at all.
I'm very serious about these companies. I love these companies. But I'm definitely
having fun, as I always do in this podcast, and with every five-stock sampler especially,
I intentionally just looked at the letter T.
I think one of the things I'm trying to convey by selecting just stocks that start with M
or T is that I could have selected another letter. That's a big point. There are lots
of great companies out there, lots of winners, lots of reasons for you and me to be direct
buyers of stocks, not just mailing it in with the index fund and, in my experience, getting
a much lower return over the long-term by doing so; but instead, leaning in, thinking
about what's great, becoming a part-owner of those companies. Whether you go A, B, C,
right down to Z, I'm pretty sure I can find five companies that are worth your time and thought,
in terms of becoming a part-owner -- in many cases with me, because I own a
lot of these companies myself -- for the long-term, the only term that counts.
To summarize: big-time winners, September highs, down at least 20%, every one of these
starts with the letter T. One of my great moments in my high school career was senior year,
I got the lead in the musical. We were doing The Music Man, so I got to be
Professor Harold Hill at St. Mark's School in Southborough, Massachusetts. One of the
great lines that many of you will know, I hope, is, "With a capital T, and that rhymes with P, and that
stands for pool." Every one of these, to me, starts with a capital T. That rhymes with P,
and that stands for Fool -- when you spell it with a PH. You might have trouble, my friend.
Anyway. Without further ado, let's get it started.
We're going to go alphabetical by company name. The first one up is 2U, ticker TWOU.
Arguably, because this company name literally starts with the number two and the full name
of the company is just 2U, you could argue this is not a T stock. But it is a T stock.
It is 2U. Let's briefly review where it's been. This stock made a high of $90 a share
on September 4th. Today, it's around $53 as we tape this podcast on the afternoon of Tuesday,
November 13th. $90 to $53 in a couple of months. Yep, that's down 41%. In fact, of all five
of my near-term losers here that we're going over this week, this has been the worst,
down more than 40%. Now, why has it been a big-time winner?
I first picked it two years ago, in July of 2016. It's up over 50% since then.
Then, three months later, I decided I really liked this company. I like to add to my winners,
so I recommend it again for Rule Breakers. That one's also up over 50%. I'll take that two-year
return for any company almost any day of the week. It's a double wreck and a double winner.
For each of these, maybe I'll just mention two things that I like about the stock and
that I think about when I think about the company. The first thing I want to mention
about 2U is, this company is built on a big idea: that it could bring distance learning
into some of our best universities, most often at the graduate level, but undergraduate courses, too.
2U partners, usually with ten-year agreements, with some of the better-known universities in the world;
universities like UCal Berkeley, or Georgetown University here in Washington, D.C.,
or my alma mater, the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, the business school.
These are the kinds of companies that 2U partners with.
They're bringing students that these universities would never otherwise have had through the internet,
they're bringing them distance learning, and they're splitting the tuition that these
universities are getting paid that they would never have had otherwise. It's a true win-win.
There are at least three winners in there. A fourth one has been shareholders,
because people who have owned 2U are pretty happy with their shares. As I say, the No.1 thing
I like about it is: it's a big idea, but the market cap is only $3 billion. This is a company
that has excellent existing relationships, continues to add more learning to its platform,
and yet it's capitalized at just $3 billion. That feels like a small-cap company with at
least a mid-cap idea and execution. That's thing No. 1 like about it.
Thing No. 2: 2U has been the victim of a short attack this year. You may know about short attacks.
If you're a Rule Breaker investor of any real vintage, you've probably come
across this before. Somebody will decide that this stock is overpriced, or something's horribly
wrong with the company. And often, this person will put a 20-page screed on the internet
about all the dirty linen and dirty dishes that the company that's being short attacked
ever could have been connected to. And they'll say the stock's overpriced. These days,
because there's a lot of viral passing around on the internet, people will hear about it, and often,
these stocks will decline. It's usually pretty short-term. They're called short attacks because
you can see it coming. Once it starts, you can see it playing out in the weeks ahead.
Usually, the stocks drop. But then, because we just keep holding our companies,
if the company is doing a good thing in the world and doing well, in my experience, it comes back,
so the short attack creates temporary downdrafts in some really excellent companies.
Other examples from our Rule Breakers service in recent years: Shopify was absolutely short
attacked for a while there. Ubiquiti Networks, another excellent company. I think Take-Two Interactive
got nailed at one point. Definitely Green Mountain when it was Keurig. It used
to be a Rule Breaker. It had a short attack, too. Tesla has been short attacked a number of times.
This is pattern recognition that we've gotten used to at Motley Fool Rule Breakers,
so when I see it happen to a good company, I think, "That's too bad for the near-term
share price, but it does create an excellent discount for the rest of us who are going
to be around for the long-term and believe in the company." That's thing No. 2 I like about 2U.
And that's stock No. 1. Let's go to stock No. 2.
Stock No. 2, I just mentioned it. I do think Take-Two Interactive had a short attack at
some point a few years ago. You could check my math. The ticker symbol for Take-Two Interactive
is TTWO. This could sound a little confusing. We had 2U, then we had Take-Two.
Take-Two Interactive, though, is a completely different company from 2U. Take-Two Interactive is one
of the best video game companies our time. The Houser brothers behind Rockstar Games
of Grand Theft Auto fame. Red Dead Redemption 2, which is an outstanding video game,
one of the greatest, in my experience, of all time up to this point, just came out this fall.
That comes from Take-Two Interactive. Where has the stock been recently? It hit
a high of $138 a share on the final day of September, 9-28. It went from $138 to where
it is today, $108. That's a decline of 22% for a company that really literally did release
one of the best products in its industry of all time. I love this company. I first recommended it
in September of 2007 at $17. Then I added another recommendation three months later.
It was at $19 at that point. It's gone from $17 to $19 to where it is today, as I mentioned,
around $108. So, yep, it's been a big-time winner for Motley Fool Rule Breakers, a six-bagger
twice over. I should also mention on a side note that
I also re-recommended it in November of 2015, three years ago this month. A lot of people
at the time were probably thinking, "Well, hold on, now. You already recommend this stock
eight years before. It's already more than doubled. Why would you re-recommend it again?"
Well, from that $35.62 cents, I'm happy to say it's tripled in just those three years.
I'll say a little bit more about this company in a second. This is a reminder, as a fellow
stock market investor, you and me, that since winners win, we should be looking to add
to our winners. I'm never afraid to take a stock, buy it at one price, watch it go up some and
then buy it again, and watch it go up a lot more, and years later, buy it again. Take-Two Interactive,
and how we've treated it at Motley Fool Rule Breakers, is a great example.
What are two things that I like about Take-Two Interactive? Well, the first one is, if you've
listened to this podcast for a while, you know that I love games. I certainly love video
games in addition to all my tabletop, board, and card games. Red Dead Redemption 2 is something
that I really love. I've already spent hours just in the last few weeks playing the game.
I love it. I highly recommend it. It's a Western. It takes you back to the end of the Old West,
just as we're transitioning into the 20th century. You're going to be playing a principal
cowboy in a gang that's a bunch of ne'er do wells, but they're trying to come to grips
with the world changing around them. It's a cinematic video game. It's beautiful,
especially on my Xbox One X. It's stunning in 4k. But also, I want to play up the writing of it.
It's written like some of the best movie scripts or some of the best exchanges you've ever
seen on the big screen. You're going to see that kind of level of quality, because that's
how Rockstar does it in this video game. I highly recommend the game. It's a great reason
to like the stock. Now, the company's much bigger than any single product,
so let's not get carried away. Red Dead will definitely pump up the numbers,
I predict, in the next earnings report. But this is not a one-trick pony -- talking about
horses out west. This is a company that has a lot of different excellent products.
The second thing that I like about this is that I think there's a chance that Take-Two Interactive
could end up being bought out in the future. I'm not invested for that reason.
I might have thought that in 2007 when I first recommended it. Here we are, 11 years later,
the company remains independent. I love it when my companies remain independent. I still wish Marvel,
one of my favorite stock picks of one generation ago, hadn't been bought by Disney. I can only
imagine how well we would have done as Marvel shareholders. But you do get paid a premium
when another bigger fish comes along and eats your smaller fish. That seems like it's implicit
in a stock like this. It could certainly happen, although I would be rooting against it.
There's stock No. 2, Take-Two Interactive, TTWO. Stock No. 3, continuing down the alphabetical
list. Stock No. 3 is Teladoc, ticker TDOC. This is a company, a Rule Breaker, that made
a high, like Take-Two Interactive, on the final day of September. Teladoc touched $86 that day.
Here we are less than a month and a half later, it's gone from $86 to $59.
It's down 31%. And yet, the company is the same company, for the most part, that it was
a month and a half ago. The market has turned down, but not this company's fortunes.
Why is this one of our bigger winners? It's a more recent pick for us in Motley Fool Rule Breakers.
In fact, I picked it one year ago this month for the first time, November 2017.
It's up 84% over the last 12 months, versus the market up 9%. That's why it's one of our
big-time winners. And yet, it's still in its first year as a Rule Breaker stock.
Really happy to see that it's still up 84%, despite having dropped 31% in just the last six weeks.
You can see, it was already much higher. And indeed, I think, in time, it will be
much higher again, which is why I'm including it on this five-stock sampler.
What are two things that I like about Teladoc? First of all, if you get to know the business
-- feel free to click around Motley Fool Rule Breakers, our service, if you're a member.
Or, you can google Teladoc, and look over their services. Basically, it's what it sounds like.
This is a business where you can use a telephone to contact a care professional
and get help. It turns out, you don't always have to go to your doctor's office,
or even the MinuteClinic at the CVS. Sometimes, those aren't adequate for the kind of conversation
that you'd like to have. Well, increasingly, Teladoc is getting its service in HR and benefits
packages for good companies nationwide. You might be working at a company where you have
Teladoc as a benefit. You could dial up a phone number and have a conversation about
your health with somebody who is knowing and professional.
This is, to me, an obvious business. This is a good example of something that
could have always existed. Why not? Luggage wheels. Wheels on luggage. That really could have
always been with us, all 20th century long, but for some strange reason, it took a long
time to show up. In this case, I think it's a little harder to get regulatory clearance
and really scale a business like Teladoc. It probably had to wait until more recently
with the internet showing up and improving our lives. I think that's a great reason for
Teladoc's timing, but the company has clearly hit the ground running, both as a public company,
but for years before that as a startup. To me, it's one of those great stocks, don't-make-you-think stocks.
That's an essay I once wrote. You can read it. I think you can google
"great stocks don't make you think David Gardner" and you can read my short essay. Often, in my experience,
if you step away from the stock market and the near-term Sturm und Drang
of "the market's up" and "the market's down" and this kind of coverage of the markets,
you just think, "The time that I'm living in, what are the really obvious, big things
that matter?" Then you step away and say, "I'm just going to buy those stocks."
Great stocks shouldn't make you think. Great stocks shouldn't make you think should
make you think too hard. I think often, great elevator pitches, a solid 60-second pitch,
should be all takes to tell you about Amazon or Netflix back in the day. To me, Teladoc
is one of those "great stocks don't make you think" stocks. That's one thing I like about it.
The second thing I like about Teladoc is true
of all these -- how about the decline? It's down from $86 to $59 in the matter of just
some weeks. We're never looking backward at The Motley Fool or on this podcast.
We're looking ahead. And I see sunshine in the future for this company and for you as a potential investor.
That's the reason I'm making Teladoc stock No. 3.
We're just about to get to stocks No. 4 and No. 5. Before we get there, I want to mention
something that I shared with you some weeks ago. It's six ways that Rule Breaker investors act.
It's the six hows of being a Rule Breaker investor. I did an entire podcast on this,
so by no means am I going to go deep into these. I'm going to put them right back out
there in numerical order, from one to six, to remind you that if you're a new investor,
if you're new to this podcast, hearing about these exciting stocks this week,
there's certain ways I think you should behave so that you make the best use of this advice.
Because after all, it's one thing for me to find a winning stock, and I sure hope I am this week.
It's an entirely different thing for somebody to invest in it in a winning way.
How many people have come up to me at a book signing or after a talk and said, "I bought that company,
but unfortunately, I sold Apple. It doubled for me years ago, and I sold it right then,
and I would have made so much money had I not done that." It's one thing to give good
advice about which company to buy. It's an entirely different thing to make sure that
you and I are behaving in a way I would call proper. Even for Rule Breakers, people who
break the rules, there are proper ways to break the rules as investors.
Here are the six really fast. Rule No. 1: let your winners run high. No. 2: add up,
don't double down. I've already given good examples of me doing that with the Rule Breaker
service with some of the companies we've talked about this week, where we're adding up.
I should mention, this is a podcast where I'm looking at stocks that have tripped up,
that have done poorly, but I don't view this as doubling down on them. In fact, I'm specifically
picking stocks that are already well up for us as investors, and just noticing that
the market has treated these kinds of companies very poorly, dunking on them 30% or so of
their value in just a matter of weeks. I think it's a good place to be looking, but these
are already winning companies, winning stocks for me. That's why I'm featuring them.
I'm not featuring stocks that are losers for me. I've got a bunch of those, too. I don't like
to add to those, typically. Trait No. 3, for you as a Rule Breaker investor,
is to invest for at least three years. The word invest is a powerful one. I'm not going
to go through the Latin derivation of it right now, but I did that on that previous podcast.
It's about putting on the clothes like you're a sports fan. You wear the jersey of the team games.
That's the way we think you should treat your stocks. You should definitely be
a fan of that company for at least three years, not jumping in and jumping out.
No. 4: remember the four tenets of conscious capitalism, something I've talked about elsewhere
on this podcast. No. 5: max 5% initial allocation. That means, if you're starting out as a new investor,
let's just say you have $5,000 to start with. I don't think you should put more
than $250 in any single stock. After all, if you have $5,000, then 10% of that
would be $500. And I'm saying you should have no more than 5% of your money in any one stock.
I really like the idea, with $5,000, and low commissions, or maybe Robinhood, free trading.
I think you should buy 20 stocks and have 5% of your money in each of those.
Perhaps I've helped you today with my five-stock sampler, but you have more work to do than just that.
The opposite of that 5% allocation is a huge mistake many people made, where they put everything
or too much into just one, two, or three stocks. That's not a way to succeed in investing.
It might feel good for a month or a year with one good stock. But that's not a plan.
That's not being committed to the markets for your whole life, which is what we're all about
at The Motley Fool. That's No. 5: max 5% initial allocation.
I should mention that when winners win, you might go over that 5% allocation. I'm fine
with that. After all, what was rule No. 1? Let your winners run high. We're fine with
higher than 5% allocations, but only when stocks get you there by winning out there
in the business world and on the public markets. Finally, attribute No. 6: aim for 60% accuracy.
What I mean by that is, I hope that you will try to beat the market with every stock pick
that you make. After all, you could have just bought an index fund and gotten the market's
return for the most part. Rule Breaker Investing the podcast is all about helping you find
the companies that are going to beat the stock market averages. We have a good record for
doing that. Over time, it's spectacular what that looks like, if you're committed
to this form of investing, my favorite form of investing, the best way to invest. Otherwise, I wouldn't
spend my whole life talking about it on Fool.com or on podcasts like this. But you need to
be shooting to beat the market more than half the time.
With all that said, we're aiming for doing it six times out of ten, for beating the S&P,
that's the measure that we use at The Motley Fool, trying six picks out of ten stock picks
to be beating that. But even if you don't hit that 60% mark, which I don't think I have
with my public record -- I think I'm closer to a coin flip. The good news is,
when you're coin-flipping with these kinds of companies that go up 6X in value or even more --
one of the stocks I'm about to pick is up even more than that -- then you can be a
pretty happy investor even with only 50% accuracy when you find the best companies of our time.
That's why the math works out wildly to your favor and mine.
Anyway, we're going to get back to our final two stocks. If you're new to what I just said,
you might want to hit rewind on your podcast player and just listen to the last two minutes
or so again, because these are really important topics. Or, you could go back and listen to
the September 19th podcast. It's called "The 6 Hows of Rule Breaker Investing,"
where I really lay out the full scaffolding for you. I highly recommend that, especially if you're
new to this podcast or new to investing. Alright. Stock No. 4: the company is,
the fourth T, it's The Trade Desk, ticker TTD. The Trade Desk, on September 26th, two days
shy of the end of September, was trading at $156 a share. Right now, it's about $111,
down $45 a share. That equates to a 29% drop. This has been a wonderful stock. Like the others,
it's a big-time winner. In the case of The Trade Desk, I first picked it in February 2017,
that's almost two years ago, at $34. I just mentioned to you, it's dropped from
$156 to $111. We're still pretty happy with that $34 cost basis. And three months later,
in May of last year, it had risen to $52. I re-recommended it right there. In both cases, it's up,
on the one hand, 250%; on the other, 138%, in less than two years. This has been
a great winner. What are two things that I like about The Trade Desk?
The first is, I really like the CEO. Jeff Green is one of those classic visionary
founder types. Highly eloquent, feels like the smartest guy in the room for his industry.
If you've never heard of The Trade Desk before, you might be wondering, "What's being traded?"
The answer is, The Trade Desk offers a platform where people who want to advertise come on
and bid for where they're going to locate their ads. It's kind of like eBay,
where you have buyers and sellers. But in this case, it's called programmatic ad buying.
Instead of doing it the old way, let's say through an agency, where you would find out,
what are the rates and where are you guys going to put me? You actually go right into the
platform and you bid against others to have your ad seen in this or that site.
It's a brilliant use of the internet where there's already so much advertising, so it makes
a lot of sense to me. And it makes a lot of sense when you have someone like Jeff Green
steering this company, the founder. It makes a lot of sense to me that it's been such a winner,
and I expect that it will be a winner going forward. Again, the stock is down 29%
in less than two months. The second thing I like about The Trade Desk is,
I'm not going to go through my six traits of a Rule Breaker stock, but it is a true Rule Breaker.
The six traits that I've written about for years, that help me find stocks,
one of them is top dog and first mover in an important emerging industry. This is kind of
that type of a company. This is the top dog and first mover in a very relevant industry,
ad buying around the internet, doing it through a programmatic platform. This is the leader.
It's kind of like eBay, for what it was doing back in the day. This is a true Rule Breaker,
and I like that a lot about The Trade Desk, including its outstanding performance overall.
And here we come down the homestretch. Our final stock for this five-stock sampler
is the single best performer over the long-term among all of these companies. It's probably
the most obscure, as well. The ticker symbol is TREX, and sure enough, that's also the
name of the company. This is the outdoor decking company, Trex. Trex, just looking at recent history,
since that's our focus in this five-stock sampler, Trex was at $89 a share on September 10th.
Today it's at $61. Trex is down 31%. And yet, I first recommended it in July of 2012,
about six years ago, at $6.77. You just heard me say it's dropped from $89 to $61.
Well, from $6.77 to $61, it's been outstanding. It's up over 830% since that pick.
I guess it's worth mentioning here, it's fun to think about it, of all of these companies,
many of which are very technology-driven, and are really creating platforms like The Trade Desk,
or you think about Teladoc and its technology, or 2U, bringing technology
into classrooms, or video games, one of the best technologies of our time. And yet,
the best performer among these is a composite outdoor decking company. It's a reminder that
great companies are all around us. It's not always about the latest whiz-bang gadget.
Although, I will say, within its field, Trex is the innovator. This composite outdoor decking,
much superior to wood. I see this kind of decking in professional settings around the
Washington D.C. area. This is the stuff that doesn't get badly damaged by water.
We've had more rain in Washington D.C. than any year I can remember maybe in my lifetime,
as a lifetime D.C. resident. You have to love Trex's outdoor decking. It looks like wood,
but functions better. And that's why you see that kind of outperformance, a nine-bagger
over the last six years. Usually, there is going to be a great product or product experience
at the heart of a winning stock like that. In this case, it has nothing to do with the internet,
which is where so much of our great performance often is in our kinds of companies.
I love how well Trex has done. Two things I love about Trex. One, and this is consistent
with some of the others, I re-recommended it five years later. Yes, I did mention
our cost basis to you earlier, and how it's a nine-bagger. But in February of 2017, I was
casting about for what stock to re-recommend in Motley Fool Rule Breakers, and I picked
Trex again. Back then, it was at $33. It's gone up 91%. What I love about this company is,
it's still small. It's got a $4 billion market cap. It's a leader in its field.
I only see more and more outdoor decking in the world's future as our population grows,
and people rebuild or build new. I really like Trex's position.
I also like its relative obscurity. That's No. 2. Many people have never heard of
Trex and would be shocked to think that you could find a stock like that, that would do that
well in the service called Motley Fool Rule Breakers. Sometimes you have to love the more
obscure companies. Peter Lynch did a great job highlighting these kinds of companies
in his classic, One Up on Wall Street. Companies that don't sound sexy to Wall Street and
don't make exciting elevator pitches, and yet, look at that performance.
Well, speaking of performance, I trust and hope that these companies will outperform
in the years ahead. I'm setting a three-year clock for this one. As I've been wont to do
on this podcast, we'll try to check in each year going forward and see whether we were right
during this tough market of the fall of 2018. I'm still up for the year, but I'm
well down from where I was this summer. You might be, too. That's part of what happens
for us as investors. We're going to have those days, months, and years where we're happy,
and others that were sad. But you can be happy even in the midst of recent sadness if you've
got some money on the side and you've heard about something that you believe in today.
I hope you'll continue to diversify your portfolio; or, if you're just getting started as an investor,
look at these kinds of companies and invest in them with us alongside The Motley Fool membership.
Thanks a lot for joining me on this special five-stock sampler episode of Rule Breaker Investing.
Next week, I'm going to welcome Paul Rice to this podcast. Paul is the founder of Fair Trade USA.
If you've ever bought fair trade coffee, that's his brainchild. Paul is a fascinating
and dynamic entrepreneur, and somebody I know you're going to enjoy. I saw him give a talk
at the Conscious Capitalism conference a month ago in Austin, Texas. I thought, "I want to
get Paul on this podcast." Well, good news: he's consented to join with me. I'm really
looking forward to sharing Paul Rice with you next week.
I should mention, the week after that is our mailbag. rbi@fool.com is our email address.
If you heard something on this week's podcast that you have a question about, one of these companies,
or if you have your own story to tell, we'd love to hear it. Or, if you're
moved by what you hear from Paul next week, I always love sharing back what you're thinking
in our month-ending mailbag. In the meantime, invest well and Fool on!
As always, people on this program may have interest in the stocks they talk about,
and The Motley Fool may have formal recommendations for or against, so don't buy or sell stocks
based solely on what you hear. Learn more about Rule Breaker Investing at rbi.fool.com!

Fishing with corn worm - 4K - Duration: 8:36.
hi guys, the time of fat cows is over
It's autumn, it's very cold and so it's hard to catch fish.
I have been leaving my comfort zone and fishing with lots of people and without programming my fishing
I go to events and it's fun to meet people
yesterday for example went to an event with 50 fishermen, it was an event of fishing to Bass
I did not participate, I sponsored the event with my brand
it was for a noble cause
to help a colleague I've known for more than a decade, André and his colleague Diogo
they will represent Portugal in Bass world championship
in that event in 50 fisherman only six with size where caught
so in 50 fisherman only seix fish and we are talking about people
who know how to fish, most of them compete
was a really hard day
I only catch two small fish
they don´t have the size but I was not competing so is ok
but I was only there as a sponsor
I just fish for fun
today I am trying to redeem myself and to fish with the cornworm
Last year I made a video, this worm is very good for Barbel fishing
Barbel and all other species, fish are crazy for this worm
so we open like this
and inside we have this worm
keep the pulp so they can eat
this way he will be alive for at least one month
so if you don´t use them all next time you go fishing you don´t need to catch more
so...
you need to put the worm this way
or you will kill the worm and you don´t want to do that
he need to be alive
number 10 hook, don´t put in the body of the worm
it's under the head
like this
look at this
so many ducks
this was a predator
incredible
saw this attack?
the fish jumped out of water
in the autumn, just crazy
I was not able to perceive the predatory species, it was big but I did not see it
fish on
fish on
barely fell in the water
beautiful strike
I think he is stuck in a log
he is out
need to go this way
here he is
this give alot of work
go
there he goes
I can guarantee you something
I have to go to the mall this afternoon, I guarantee it will not rain
let´s finish out fishing day, we got one fish
I fosh with a floater
little jighead
because the current is strong
because I want my bait in the bottom, they eat in the bottom
now I go home to be with the familly and edit this video, see you in next video

Under the Microscope: Community Liaison - Duration: 4:20.
Hello, and welcome to this segment
of Under the Microscope.
I'm Jeff Gold and thank you so much for being with us today.
We have the opportunity today to have a conversation
with Ms. Amber Peleska, and Amber is our Community Liaison
for UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.
Amber, welcome and thanks so much
for giving us some of your time today.
Yes, thank you.
I understand that you have now been with us
for several months, and this is a position
that is supported by outside philanthropy,
which is an incredibly generous gift
to both UNMC and Nebraska Medicine,
and it's aimed at creating a better onboarding process
for some of our faculty and staff and leadership
in the organizations of UNMC and Nebraska Medicine.
Maybe you could tell our audience and tell me a little bit
about how you view the position and how it's been going?
I view the position as a way to really help
physicians and their families get acclimated
to the Omaha area, to really help them lay a foundation,
so it makes them want to stay here and continue practicing
with Nebraska Medicine and UNMC.
Somebody once described this kind of position
as the Chief Stickiness Officer,
and I kind of like that concept, because it's not just about
the individual that we are recruiting, but it's about
their significant other, it's about, sometimes,
their children, sometimes their parents,
how they get connected to our school systems,
how they connected to their spiritual life,
the arts community, et cetera.
Are those the types of conversations
that you've been having as you've met with folks?
Yes, 100%.
I'm really approaching this role as a holistic opportunity
to bring the whole family together and really immerse them
in Omaha's culture and expose them
to everything Omaha has to offer.
What's the feedback been like?
You've met with a number of people
in your early months here.
What kind of feedback do you get?
So far, feedback has been phenomenal.
I've been able to--
I'm not surprised, by the way.
(Amber laughing)
Well, I was happy (laughing) that it is being
well-received and I've been able,
the big thing I've been working with a lot of physicians on
is helping their spouses and significant others
with employment assistance.
I've set up connections through Omaha Chamber of Commerce
as well as some staffing groups to help the spouses
and the significant others find employment here, as well.
I'm sure that's not an uncommon type of request.
No. It's certainly the kind
of request that I get all the time is that we're recruiting
a faculty member here or a staff member there
and there's a spouse or a significant other.
When it's within the university system,
it's easier to know what's available and what's not.
But if it's in the legal profession or one of
the technology companies, it takes building a network,
what I used to call a Rolodex.
Yes. A list of phone numbers
of colleagues and friends who would
be willing to try to help us.
About how many different onboarding opportunities,
how many different new faculty or staff
or leadership positions have you had
the opportunity to reach out to?
Right now, focusing on physicians and I have reached out
to every new physician that has started
since January 1st of 2018.
Wow.
That is between 40 and 50.
That's incredible.
That's just a lot, and it just makes the point
that we continue to grow at--
Yes (laughing).
a really good pace and that our ability to recruit
and retain the very best and the brightest is critical.
We're really glad to have you onboard.
Thank you.
Again, to the private philanthropy that said
we really ought to have a Chief Stickiness Officer,
(Amber laughing)
thank you to them Absolutely.
and we look forward to seeing what the results are,
but I'm sure they are all going to be positive.
Thank you.
Thanks so much for being with us today.
Absolutely, thank you for having me.
Thank you for being with us today on this segment
of Under the Microscope.

Can You Use Light To Travel Back In Time? Part 3 *use captions* - Duration: 5:31.
If you go faster than the speed of light, you can travel back in time
Till now we can't actually go faster than the speed of light
So in that way, we can't travel back
It is possible but the level of engineering it takes is like
too high
You would need a machine that uses infinite amount of energy
Like we can do that with a particle accelerator
Jus picture you have two points
A & B
Shortest distance : straight line from point A to B
So let's say i want to travel to mars
The shortest distance is when the distance between Earth and Mars is the shortest (straight line)
But if I created a wormhole, what I'm basically doing is bending space time
In a way that i can move from point A to B in a couple of seconds (instantaneous!)
It is possible to do but the problem is that our level of engineering isn't that advance yet
You can create a wormhole with an infinite amount of energy.
like with a particle accelerator
But the problem is : How do you keep it open?
it requires a lot of energy and force to keep it open
I think you can use antimatter. The longest it think they held one open is like 15 minutes
Because the held it in a electromagnetic jacuzzi or something like that
You would need a whole lot of energy
for example a bomb of hydrogen, it uses only 10 procent of it's energy
An antimatter bomb is like a 100% efficiency or something
So we have to make a way so that there is no energy (retain antimatter) loss
Can we use light itself to travel back in time?
Or a signal that has to do with the electromagnetic spectrum
To go from further in time (future) and come back with a signal in time.
to show (past) us the future
that is a good question
That concept is weird
Let's say you are looking through a telescope
You're basically looking a at stars
You don't know what the distance is between the stars and the telescope
Let's say it's like a billion or so many lightyears away
Light has a speed. It takes a certain time for light to reach earth
You maybe looking at a star that was shining like 3 billion years ago or something
So with time we can say in a way that we're looking in the past ( in the present )
So your question was : can we use light to send a signal in the future and get a signal back in the past?
What if i had the memory of making a signal right now with a signal receiver ?
And i have the thought of making one and sending light back in the past
will that reach it?
you can send it, but the problem is that you can't store information in that light
You can send it. Well I don't know if you can send it in the future yet
But let's say you can
but we don't have a way to store information in the light itself
Quantum entanglement
Lets say you have one particle at this part of the universe and the other at the other end of the universe
Let's say they are quantum entanglement
so let's say it has a spin or something
This is head and so this has to automatically be tails
They are talking to each other but we don't even know at what speed
I don't think light is the fastest speed, because if quantum entanglement is possible
If they're is a signal being sent
That has to be the speed, because the signal travel instantly. So it has to be that.
So two same thing just in different spaces or something like that?
Same universe it's just that they are quantum entangled
Let's say I have something in my brain right here
Jeremy also has the same thing
We're quantum entangled, right?
In dutch we say "zogenaamd" for "quotes"
Quantum entangled
He is in the other part of the universe, but we still can transmit data like instantly. It doesn't take time
because we are quantum entangled.
If I need to send Jeremy something in the other part of the universe
I can just say it's head or tails
Oh, so you can only predict his position (movement) in a way.
Yeah, something like that.
Einstein said that the speed of light is the fastest in a vacuum.
As you said you think think there is something faster that we haven't discovered yet
That is outside of ; of the universe, because the universe is still growing at a constant
If quantum entanglement is possible
there is no way you can say that the speed of light is the fastest.
Because you can't go from here to there instantaneously and say the speed of light is the fastest.

What's the Difference Between Pressure Class and Thickness Class Pipe? - Duration: 4:59.
Welcome to Iron Strong. In this video I'm going to address four topics. First, what
is the difference between thickness class and pressure class?
Second, what class pipe should you specify.
Third, how you can use the McWane Pocket Engineer
to determine the pipe class needed for your given project.
And forth, how does McWane manufacture a specific class of pipe.
So what is the difference between thickness class and pressure class pipe?
The short answer to that question is that both refer to a specific wall thickness.
The iron content is exactly the same.
In 1965 ductile iron pipe was introduced replacing its grey
or cast iron predecessor.
Thickness classes 1 through 6 were
standardized and used as a basis for manufacturing and ordering material.
Due to the inherent strength of ductile manufacturers soon realized they could
make a thinner wall and introduce a class zero. However many in the industry
questioned whether a class zero would be accepted by end users.
Therefore the number five was added to the beginning of the thickness class
designation and then you have the thickness classes that you see today.
In 1991 the pressure class ratings were introduced for two reasons first most of
the water and wastewater materials were specified this way, and second by
manufacturing a third wall pipe end users were able to realize a cost
should savings by utilizing materials specific to their needs.
What class pipes should you specify?
Each year McWane Ductile gives presentations at tradeshows, lunch
and learns, or day of water events. When discussing pipe design we often ask
what's what class pipe do you specify? As you might expect we get answers such as
class 350, or class 52 but what's interesting is our follow-up question of why?
This is where we start getting some odd looks and people get nervous to answer.
But eventually someone will speak up and give an answer like that's just the
way it's always been, or that's what's always worked for us.
If tradition sets your specification requirements and you're comfortable with
"the way it's always been" it's not our position to change that specification.
There's nothing wrong with the peace of mind that comes from historical success
and no product performs over the long haul like ductile iron. However if you
really want to answer the question of why you must consider two variables.
First internal pressure which is the amount of pressure exerted by the fluid
inside the pipe. Second external loading which is the amount of force exerted by
backfill, traffic, buildings, anything above the pipe.
So they're formulas that you can use to determine the pipe wall thickness required for your specific need.
However McWane's made it easy by
offering the use of the McWane Pocket Engineer free of charge. Simply download
the app or use the web platform.
The pocket engineer allows you to input the
known design variables such as pipe diameter, maximum internal pressure, depth
of cover, wheel load, and the weight of the soil used for backfill.
At the click of a button you'll be able to determine what class and correlating
wall thickness you should require for all five
AWWA a recognized trench types. there's two factors that control the wall
There's 2 factors that control the wall thickness that we manufacture.
First is the ladle size, and second is machine travel time.
For every pipe size and class there's a corresponding ladle that's utilized.
Ladles are found on the iron delivery end of the machine.
They're used to pour the liquid iron down a trough into the spinning mold.
As you can see each casting machine is set up on an incline or hill.
As the melted iron moves through the machine from the top of the hill the machine moves down the hill to
disperse the iron throughout the mold. The time it takes the machine to move
down the hill is what we refer to as machine travel time.
By controlling the speed at which the machine travels down the hill along with the speed and which
the iron is being poured from the ladle we can maintain
a specified wall thickness throughout the pipe barrel. If you'd like more
information on what you've just viewed what would be interested in McWane
presenting to your group please contact your local sales representative and they
would be happy to assist.
All contact information can be found on the McWane
Ductile website. Remember in everything you do work hard, work smart,
and work safe.

Signal Boost: November 2018 - Duration: 3:28.
I'm Greg Mack, here with another Signal Boost from the APS Office of Government Affairs.
The midterm elections of 2018 are over, and the results have some big consequences for
science in Congress.
Let's look at the House first.
Most notably, the Democrats will be the majority party for the House beginning in January.
This means that Democrats will chair the committees, so leadership is changing hands, and priorities
may also change.
Now, it will still take a bit of time once the new Congress starts to set the leadership,
but most of the Democrats who currently hold ranking member positions will seek to be chairs.
The title "ranking member" goes to the highest ranking official from the minority
party on the committee.
For the House Science Committee, this is Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas, and she will
indeed be looking to become chair.
No Democrats on the committee lost their reelection, but a couple are retiring and Representative
Jacky Rosen of Nevada has been elected to the Senate.
Before I go on, I want to remind you that APS is a nonpartisan organization and does
not back parties or candidates.
APS strives to get bipartisan support for issues that affect the physics community.
On the Republican side, the makeup of the House Science Committee will be changing substantially.
Dana Rohrabacher and Steve Knight of California, Barbara Comstock of Virginia, and Randy Hultgren
of Illinois all lost their races, and current chair Lamar Smith of Texas is retiring.
As for appropriations, Republican representative John Culberson of Texas lost his race -- he
has been the chair of the Commerce, Justice, and Science appropriations subcommittee.
Jose Serrano of New York is the current ranking member and will seek to be chair.
Now, fewer changes are happening in the Senate.
Republican Senator John Thune of South Dakota is stepping down from his position as Chair
of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation committee due to term limits.
Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi is next in line.
As of the filming of this video, the future of Democratic Senator Bill Nelson of Florida,
the current ranking member on the committee, is uncertain due to a recount of the votes
in a close race.
It's exciting to note that eight new incoming members of Congress have backgrounds in science,
engineering, or medicine -- and it makes nine if you count Jacky Rosen's shift to the
Senate.
This includes eight Democrats and one Republican, and backgrounds such as nuclear, biochemical,
and aerospace engineering, as well as ocean science.
Now, while they join fourteen other members of Congress who have science, engineering,
or medical backgrounds, that still leaves many more members of Congress who *don't*
have that expertise.
Have you ever thought that you might want to help them out by working in their office
and using your science knowledge to help them address policy for science?
Well, APS has an opportunity for you!
As an APS Congressional Fellow, you would spend a year on Capitol Hill working for a
member of Congress or on a committee.
The deadline for applications is January 15th, and you must be an APS member and have a Ph.D.
to apply.
See the website associated with this video for details.
The APS Office of Government Affairs also supports two science policy intern positions.
These are part-time positions that typically are six-month terms.
Students and degree holders can apply.
Email OGA@aps.org to learn more, or look out for a job ad on APS's website.
Tune in next time to find out what's in store for the remaining weeks of the current
Congress in the December Signal Boost.

Reason #201 - Kaylee | The Graduate School - Duration: 0:49.
Reasons to give number 201. Kaylee. Marker.
My name is Kaylee Alexander, and I'm a Ph.D. candidate in The Graduate School.
I'm currently in the art history and visual studies department
working on the market for funerary sculpture in 19th century Paris.
I was really inspired by how vast and dense the cemeteries were in Paris,
but when I looked into it further I found that we really only knew a lot
about the great monuments to famous people.
Thanks to the Annual Fund I've
been funded for the past two summers to spend three months in Paris conducting
my research in archives and on-site in the cemeteries themselves.
I want to continue to challenge the way we approach the history of art in order to
challenge what we understand about past histories.

The Biggest Wins in Casino History - Duration: 14:14.
Beating Casino presents: The Biggest Wins in Casino History.
Some gamblers play using strategies they have learned and fit the game and their bankroll,
while others risk large sums of money on the off chance of an enormous win.
Both ways of gambling can be life changing if you happen to win large amounts of money,
turning ordinary people into millionaires in a matter of hours.
We are not here to say which way is the correct one to play, we have enough strategy videos
on our channel for you to watch and decide how you prefer to play at the casino, so in
this video, we will just share with you some of the biggest wins in casino history so you'll
see that anything is possible and that the house doesn't always wins.
Archie Karas (Poker & Craps) Archie Karas, also known as the "king of
the casinos," was able to turn $50 into $40 million!!!
Karas used to work as a waiter, until he learned about pool hustling, where he amassed serious
wealth, to the tune of $1 million.
He was never afraid of losing his money, and therefore he would bet, in a single throw
of the dice, what many gamblers might earn in a lifetime.
While playing high-stakes card games in Los Angeles, he won plenty of money, but was also
completely broke on numerous occasions.
It was December of 1992 when Archie began what many consider the greatest hot streak
in the history of gambling.
He had just lost $2 million during a Los Angeles high-stakes poker game, so he only had $50
to spare.
But that was enough to start winning, and winning big.
Archie began in Binion's Horseshoe casino where a friend spotted him $10,000 to play
high-stakes Razz, a game in which the lowest hand wins.
He went head-to-head with 15 of the world's greatest poker players, including Stu Unger,
Chip Reese, Johnny Chan and Puggy Pearson.
He won millions at poker before winning millions more at craps, eventually coming into possession
of the Horsehoe's $5,000 chips, worth $11 million.
By the time his run ended, he had won $17 million playing craps and poker at the Horseshoe.
Incidentally, he was able to repay the $10,000 loan with 50% interest.
His winning streak continued for over two years, until he had amassed $40 million.
He was able to turn $7 million into $17 million by besting some of the best poker players
in Vegas at seven-card stud.
He also earned over a million dollars playing nine-ball pool.
Even the occasional losing streak was not enough to keep him from winning far more than
he lost.
His winning streak, however, did eventually come to an end over a three-week period in
1995, where he lost $11 million playing craps.
He also lost $17 million at baccarat and another $2 million at poker.
He soon lost the remainder of his $40 million, although he was eventually able to borrow
$40,000 to win back $1 million.
Archie's luck may have ran out in spectacular fashion, but his phenomenal winning streak
remains the stuff of legend, and it is proof that anything is possible in gambling.
The wisdom is to know and save some on the side and not gamble it, so you'll still
be a millionaire and not become broke.
Elmer Sherwin (Megabucks Slots) In 1989, a man won $4.6 million on a Megabucks
slot machine at the Cannery Casino & Hotel in Vegas.
His name was Elmer Sherwin, and he beat the odds, not once but twice, on the same slot
machine.
Some people consider certain machines lucky, so, after Sherwin won his $4.6 million, he
continued playing the same machine until he eventually won $2.1 million in 2005 when he
was 92 years old, despite the odds of winning being estimated at one in fifty million!
Sherwin said he had been a fan of Megabucks for a long time.
He believed it would pay off eventually, and that belief sustained him for years until
his second win confirmed his instincts.
Sherwin's first win came on the casino's opening night, leading to speculation about
how big wins occur on opening nights.
But as everyone attempts to explain what cannot be explained, a mythology arises.
People may wonder how to duplicate Sherwin's luck, but so far, he remains the big winner,
twice over.
There are other big winners of Megabucks slots, including a retired flight attendant who risked
$300 in 1998 and won $27.5 million.
Such wins may be rare, but they do happen from time to time.
That is why playing the slots is so much fun and easy, as you risk a little (or any amount
you decided) and can win millions of millions of dollars, just by pushing a button…
Peter (Online Slots) Peter, a Norwegian gambler, has won one of
the largest online gambling payouts.
It may not be his real name, but that is not what is important.
What matters is that he became an online casino winner by playing a progressive jackpot slot
called Arabian Knights, and it was the fruit slot machine that made his surprise win possible,
as his winning streak netted him 11.7 million Euros
Peter played at the Betsson online casino which features the slogan, "Anything can
happen", and for him it did, it really happened and it changed his life for good.
Mike Ashley (Roulette) Mike Ashley, multi-billionaire owner of the
Newcastle United Football Club, was already famous when he won 1.6 million pounds in the
span of three hours at a roulette table in a London casino.
His lucky number was 17, and his method of betting focused on every possible combination
of that number.
As luck would have it, the roulette ball dropped into the 17 slot, converting his initial 480,000
pounds to three times that amount.
Ashley retrieved his winnings and called it a day.
The odds of hitting 17 were high, but Ashley must have known that even a lucky number rarely
strikes twice in a row.
However, in 2011, Ashley lost one million pounds in the span of two hours.
Still, he is a multi-billionaire, so we're not too worried about him.
Sean Connery (Roulette) Yes, that Sean Connery, the super spy James
Bond which happened to had a lot of luck betting on the number 17.
While at a casino in the Italian Alps, Connery put his money on 17.
He missed the first two times, but on the third spin, the ball landed on 17.
Leaving his winnings there, the croupier spun the wheel.
Surprisingly, the ball landed on 17 again.
What may have been even more surprising, or perhaps insane, was the fact that Connery
once again left his winnings in place, and you guessed it, the ball fell on 17 for the
third time in a row, against odds of 50,000 to 1.
Sean Connery then coolly collected his winnings of 10,000 pounds, which in today's market
could very well be worth 163,000 pounds.
Interesting fact is that there was a time when "17" was one of the most commonly
played numbers in roulette.
Not only did Connery win big on the number 17 in 1963, but he did the same in the 1971
Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever.
Charlie Wells (Roulette) Way back, in 1891, Charlie Wells netted $1
million after playing roulette for 11 straight hours.
He was the man who literally "broke the bank at Monte Carlo," inspiring a famous
music hall song by Fred Gilbert.
Breaking the bank meant winning more chips than are available on the table, and Wells
did that not once, but 12 times in the course of the night.
It turns out Charlie Wells was a famous confidence trickster.
After making a profit from a fraudulent invention called the "musical jumping rope," he
decided to try his luck in Monte Carlo.
His game of choice was roulette, and it was at the roulette table that Wells took 4,000
francs in chips and turned them into a million francs, winning 23 out of 30 successive spins
at one point.
After winning a million francs, he came back to the same casino a year later and won another
million francs over the course of three days.
In today's dollars, his one million francs could be worth well over $20 million.
However, Luck was not always so kind to Wells, and after amassing more money from people
who had invested in a fuel-saving device he invented for steam ships, he lost everything
at gambling.
He later spent 11 years in prison in England for fraud and 5 years in a French prison before
he passed away in 1922, penniless and broke.
I guess you could call it karma…
William Darnborough (Roulette) William Darnborough hailed from Illinois when
he played roulette at a Monte Carlo casino, winning half a million dollars over the course
of 7 years between 1904 and 1911, which could be a staggering amount in today's market.
He had already become an expert gambler by playing roulette in the U.S. at illegal casinos
operated inside saloons.
It was said he was a wheel-watcher who could anticipate where the ball might land.
Unlike Wells, though, Darnborough quit playing while he was ahead, and thus kept all of his
fortune.
Don Johnson (Blackjack) Professional Gambler, Don Johnson, had a technique
when it came to blackjack.
He negotiated rules to give himself an edge, like splitting a favorable hand into four
separate hands, picking dealers who stopped drawing cards when a hand equaled 17, thus
increasing Johnson's chances of getting a better hand, and whenever he could, he would
double his bet.
Fortunately for Johnson, some casinos offer high-rollers 10% paybacks, meaning he could
keep an entire win while still keeping money after a loss.
By also negotiating the right to bet up to $25,000 a hand, he was able to multiply his
winnings much more quickly.
Although Johnson relied on luck as much as anyone else, his use of the rules left less
to chance and more to strategy, earning him $15 million from three casinos in half a year.
Ashley Revell (Roulette) Around 2003, Ashley Revell sold his home and
belongings in London and left for Vegas with roughly $135,000.
He risked it all by placing it on red on a roulette wheel at the Plaza Casino in downtown
Vegas.
He quickly doubled his money and left.
Although Revell was not a professional gambler, he assumed an enormous risk and won big.
He now owns iGaming Recruitment that helps staff gambling companies.
Kerry Packer (Blackjack & Baccarat) Billionaire Kerry Packer could afford to place
large bets, and so, during a 1995 trip to the MGM Grand in Vegas, he won between $20
and $40 million at blackjack and baccarat.
Allegedly, Packer played up to eight hands at once on multiple tables, betting up to
$250,000 a hand.
Forty minutes after his first bet, he had already won $25 million, finishing $20 million
ahead of where he started.
Lady Luck favored Packer on a number of other occasions from 2010 through 2011.
A $5.8 million win at the Tropicana Casino took under 12 hours, and also winning millions
over a number of nights at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa.
However, his luck turned two years later when he lost $28 million in a London casino.
Patricia Demauro (Craps) With its many betting options, craps gives
players a chance of winning big or losing big.
For Patricia Demauro, luck was on her side that day.
She had only played craps once before, so when she arrived at the craps table at the
Borgata in Atlantic City, she could not have been expecting to win 154 consecutive throws
in the span of 4 hours and 18 minutes.
Although she never revealed her winnings, she bought in for a mere $10 and could have
won hundreds of thousands of dollars with conservative bets.
If she were placing expert bets, winnings may have been in the millions.
It should be noted that the odds of her accomplishment were 1 in 1.56 trillion!!!
And yet it happened in one unbelievable night.
Other Notable Winnings The cases and stories covered in this video
are not that rare and there are actually huge casino payouts all the time.
Here are some other notable winnings that although crazy to believe, actually happened:
An anonymous man that was waiting for a basketball game at the Excalibur Casino won $39 million
dollars at a slot machine A woman visiting Vegas from Hawaii played
the same slot machine for three hours with less than $100 before winning close to $9
million.
Another woman won $680 on a Wheel of Fortune
machine at the Palace Station Hotel, later to win $27 million in a Megabucks jackpot.
I guess one win wasn't enough.
A Former owner of the Golden Nugget wrote of a video game developer called Mr. Royalty
who walked out with close to $5 million, only to come back a week later to win an additional
$1.5 million.
There is even a story of a homeless man who cashed a $400 social security check and turned
it into roughly $1.5 million at the Treasure Island casino.
Those who observed the man considered him the rudest and luckiest player they had ever
seen.
Unfortunately, the man later lost it all before being kicked out.

End of the Year TBR | 2018 - Duration: 6:04.
Hi, it's Maija here with my end-of-the-year TBR, so these are all the
books that I would have liked to have read before the end of the year. I don't think
I can get to these all, but these are the ones that I am feeling like reading at
the moment and ones that I have also owned a while. But let's start with the
first thing that I have out from the library, this is Elizabeth Hand's Waking
the Moon, and this is an interlibrary loan that I need to return quite soon, so
this is my first project. It has almost 500 pages. The font is really, really
small, so I should really get to this. This is penned as a Gothic fantasy. So it
is set in our world with fantastical elements, where the main character goes
to this university which is ruled by a cult. After that my next project will be
these two chunksters: I want to reread The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth
Dickinson, one of my favorite books from the year that I read it, and then I want to go
straight to The Monster Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson, my highly awaited
sequel. I don't think I would, like, have to read this one in order to remember
things or something like that before reading this one, but I want to reread
this one, I really, really do. So these two, they're also quite big. Then there are
all the books that I have owned for a while, most of these I bought as birthday
gifts for myself at the end of last year. So my birthday is in December, I bought
these in December 2017 and I haven't read them. So I would like to read some of these,
especially since winter is coming - "Winter is coming..." I didn't do that on purpose.
But winter is here, and then I feel like reading historical fantasy. So what I
have here is Under the Pendulum Sun by Jeanette Ng, and this is set in the
Victorian times with the fae. People can go to Fairyland and I think there's
missionaries who go there. And the main character, her brother has disappeared, so
she goes to find him. Then I have Stephanie Burgis' Masks and Shadows,
which is set in... somewhere in Europe, I can't now remember where it was. It talks
about the Habsburg Empire. I also have Snowspelled, a novella, I think it's set in
Regency sort of "fake England" - that one is set in a magical world, but it's sort
of the counterpart of England. And I have that on my Kindle and I also want to
read that one. Then I have The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and this
is set, again, in a fantasy world that is reminiscent of Paris during the Belle
Epoque, and there's telepathy. Then I have The City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty. This is
set in Cairo in the 18th century. The main character is a con woman and she
summons a djinn. I also have The Tropic of Serpents, once again set in a fantasy
world, but reminiscent of sort of Victorian times. In this world dragons
are real and the main character is a dragon naturalist, so she studies
dragons, and these are her memoirs. These are by Marie Brennan. This one I've
owned for quite a while, I actually bought the third one in December last
year, I can't remember when I bought this second one. But I really, really liked the
first one, so I'm surprised at myself that I haven't read the second one yet.
Then there are a few books that you just saw in my London book haul that I would like to
read, they're quite short. I have Agatha Christie's Cards on the Table, the
next Poirot novel that I have to read. I have Jane Yolen's "a short novel in verse",
Finding Baba Yaga. Fairy tales, it's written in verse,
it's gonna be a short read, and I think I'm gonna love it.
And then the Victorian Chaise-Longue by Marganita Laski, and this is a
Persephone classic, and it has a science fiction element, so that's why I'm
really interested to get into this one. It only has, like, 99 pages, so it's
a quick read. And finally I'd also like to read The Lie Tree by Frances Hardinge.
You might remember, it was like at the beginning of the summer, beginning of
summer when I picked up from my TBR Jar the challenge to read a hardback that I
own. I still haven't read any hardbacks that I own, and I said, I think, in that
video that I would most likely read this one, so maybe I'll do that before the end
of the year, but who knows? I can't even hold these up properly and these are all
the books that I would like to read before the end of the year! I have... what
do I have... 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 - I can't! Okay, let's try this again. I
have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 - I'm going by feel here - 7,
8, 9, 10, 11, 12 books plus the e-book novella that I have that
I would like to read before the end of the year. I know I can't do that, but I'm
gonna read The Traitor Baru Cormorant, I'm gonna start my reread soon, I'm
gonna read Waking the Moon, and then some of the rest. I haven't even looked
at my, like, challenges video... like what I planned to read at the start of
the year when I made my video for 2018 plans, because I know I talked about
rereads and reading classics in that one, and I don't think I have read any of the
books that I showed in that video that I said that I was planning to read during this
year. So I'm not even going to look in the direction of that video, just know
that: cancel all those plans, I'm gonna read these ones instead. So let me know
if you have as magnificent pile of books as I do that you would like to read
before the end of the year, or if you are just taking it easy. Like, I'm not
taking any pressure from reading those, I would just really love to get to all of
them, like right now. If I could read them all at the same time, I would, but
that's too much even for me. So that's all from me for now,
and I will see you in my next video.

It's
So hard to understand
Oh well I guess it's life
It played tricks on me again
But I scream "hey yeah" (hey yeah)
Won't hide that I miss you
But I trust time
To heal all my wounds
There was a bitter taste in our last goodbye
Maybe I exaggerate again
Give me my motivation!
Life I'm out of control now
Done with my vacation
I see the time goes by
Back to the square one I can see again how
Life can get both free and tragic
After so many nights alone
(After so many nights)
And now I'm here again
And I wrote this song on a pathetic
Attempt to get over
I guess it's just another
I guess it's just another
I guess it's just another night a-
-lone in my room I cried over our last goodbye
Will this bad feeling ever end?
I have my motivation!
Life I'm out of control now
Done with my frustration
I know the time goes by
Just want to forget about our last goodbye
Guess it's time to move on again
Me and my motivation!
Life I'm out of control now
Just found my salvation!
I'm just out of control now
No need for explanation!
I see the time goes by
(Let it die, let it die, let it die out)
(Let it die, let it die, let it die out)
Yeah, the time goes by! (Let it die, let it die, let it die out)

Tamera Mowry Sobs As She Returns To 'The Real' After Niece's Death: 'She'd Want Me To Move Forward' - Duration: 4:50.
Tamera Mowry returns to 'The Real' just over 2 weeks after her niece, Alaina Housley was killed at the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting in CA
She tears up while talking about her grief and gun violence. Tamera Mowry, 40, returned to The Real on Monday, November 26 — just over two weeks after her niece, Alaina Housley was killed at the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting in Thousand Oaks, CA
Alaina was 18. At the start of the show, tears filled Tamera's eyes when she was asked how she was doing
"I'm OK," she replied. "I'm sorry," Tamera said, trying to get the words out. "Our family's been through a lot, but the interesting thing about grief is that you've gotta find the balance of moving forward and grieving at the same time
It's just been a little over two weeks…she would want me to be here. And she would want me…sweet Alaina…to move forward
I don't like to say move on, because I don't think I'll ever move on with the fact that she's not here with me or with our family
" She continued: "But she would want me to move forward and to use her voice as a catalyst for change, and that's why I am here today," Tamera continued
"And I just appreciate the outpouring love and support from everybody. That sweet 18-year-old girl impacted people in such a positive way, and that's how we've been able to move on, the love as my beautiful sister-in-law Hannah said at my niece's memorial, that's what we need more today love
" The Real co-host, Adrienne Bailon, 35, then asked how change can happen. "Obviously, this was such a horrible and unnecessary tragedy, so what do you think that we as a country can do to make sure that something like this never happens again?" Tamera then became emotional when she explained that "our country needs healing
" "Oh. Where do I begin?" Tamera replied. "It's obvious that we need change when it comes to gun violence
I don't care if I have to knock on the doors of the White House to do it. Alaina was very sweet and loving and kind
She was also a debater. So she would want me to debate that. But also, I believe that it starts from within
Our country, and it's sad to say this, but you have to be living underneath a rock to not believe these words, our country is sick
It's diseased. If it needs healing. It needs healing from within. We are so divided
" Alaina Housley, who was a freshman at Pepperdine University, was one of 12 victims killed in the Borderline Bar & Grill shooting in Thousand Oaks on November 7
A representative for Tamera and her husband, Adam Housley released the following statement to HollywoodLife
com exclusively, at the time. "Our hearts are broken. We just learned that our niece Alaina was one of the victims of last night's shooting at Borderline bar in Thousand Oaks
Alaina was an incredible young woman with so much life ahead of her and we are devastated that her life was cut short in this manner
We thank everyone for your prayers and ask for privacy at this time." On November 15, Tamera confirmed on her Instagram that Alaina had been laid to rest, one week after the shooting
A foundation has been set up in Alaina's honor, Alaina's Voice.

MEXICANOS REACCIONAN A SANTAFLOW (ESPAÑA) - Duration: 22:10.
how about friends how are you doing this is "mexican curious watching "how are you doing adam?"
Greetings friends, excellent! We hope you are very well, do not forget
subscribe to give like share activate the bell, leave us a
comment and well, this time we're going to make a video reaction of a
Comrade from Spain and who I recommend is this adam? it was gabriel altuzarra
Alarcón, thank you Gabriel, we send you a hug, thanks for writing us and
recommend this song that is like, He said it's like hip hop ...
rap, yes but let's find out us to see how, even though I
example, I do not hear this guy of music
I do not distinguish between whatever the hip hop, rap or "MC" but because
the truth I do not know the subject
Well, let's check this video that apparently brings the,
we are seeing it, reading, listening and we are back to know what impressions
causes us well, this is santa flow
that apparently makes a "feat" no? with a Mexican, a "rapper" we do not know who he is ...
but let's listen to the song, it call own merits, own merits ...
gentlemen to see if it is true that merits own
said mexico and spain
it sounds to me half weird, it sounds medium rare gentlemen
I thought I was going to start a reggaeton, I already I was going to put "stop" gentlemen
but hey, it sounds more rocker !!
I do not know what it is
the Spanish singer?
this voice is more Spanish, is not it? I I say that the other singer is the Mexican! "Okay"
It has its "pop" dyes, it has Many "pop" teeth
It should always be like this, if one wants to get ahead sir
well there if I do not know if he lives like a fucking Sr. No? but...
you do not have to lose the floor, you do not have to lose the floor gentlemen ...
you are more poperos the choirs? you hear "pop" because
the base is still rock, if the base music, it's still rock ...
rock to dry, but the voices like that, like they worked more "pop"
Guitar solo, and you also hear quiet no? soft
but but it's "cool" at the beginning yes I stayed
if I thought, especially about how usually reggaeton songs
they are like this and a voice is heard with a lot of effect, like that
entrance, but fortunately not!
very well !!!
So, gentlemen, you suffer for Do what you want and dream
it's true on the road, if they go a hundred, only ten remain, and if those ten support
there are 5 left
Okay, let's talk about that Gentlemen, it is a serious matter what he said
it's a lot of the truth here in Mexico and Latin America
Now let's talk about that Adam! to see how it touches us!
this is gentlemen santa flow, very well, this song is good, but at the beginning
I say, I was thinking that it would be a reggaeton, a bass drum and tarola ...
but we did not go to those things and well no? It has its touches rockers, touches a lot
more poperos on, all in the parts of the choirs is where most sounds like pop,
is and I say at the beginning the voice like that it sounds a bit, out of tune
that's the intention as, what to give that touch as more satirical
and good music because it goes well do not? It has its parts, it goes even, verse
chorus, his guitar solo, in between, he returns to verse chorus and let's go ....
then it is enough to listen to him yes quite radiable except for the
rudeness says there if the radio they are always very ... "clean" and
although I think that from a time here not so much, I've listened then
suddenly, because I really do not I listen to the radio, but suddenly yes, always
are the censored versions where if he says shit there does not sound anymore
nothing, well I still when, because I do not even listen to the radio anymore but
when I listened to him he does three years were already a little longer
open to what the songs were like, as they originally came, yes same
now they continue to pick it up little by little because maybe, this one may not be
problem of the broadcaster, but of the people, no? the same because sometimes
children listen yes and then try to Do not give that bad example, do not you? but good
I think it's not a bad example, but how other things, that such other things of
gossip and lies and they do not speak of the good but of the
what is good for them and also what is bad, no? for other people but good they are already
other topics, that we sometimes talk about our other channel to go to
see it and there we have, themes controversial with a touch
of humor though, satire, although they are more local topics but
good and returning with "santaflow" there is at the end of almost the end
one part, no? in which he mentions that he does not do like ...
as participations, when you do duets, do not do duets with someone else
because you hang on to fame and then if in Mexico lately
bands that were called rock, not all, not I put everyone in the same bag but
many bands that were called rock, and what good rockers and anarchy, well
they went to make cumbia, made this ... reggaetón ... is that look!
the money ... the truth is not bad, it is not bad, but you can not at first say
I'm a rocker and I'm never going to go for another side like "Álex Lora"
and I remember it a lot that he said before, "not me, I'm never going to lend myself
for the clowning to go out with this one adal ramones "in" another roll "was a
program that comes out here in mexico that called "another roll", but a
parenthesis, Álex Lora is a rocanrolero of the 60s 70s, Mexican that
well, it already has a lot of history has been doing 50 years, good in the
music, no? Yes, his band used to be called "three souls in my mind" and then only
it was "the tri" and good still ... he said before he was never going to lend
for the antics to participate with this guy named Adal ramones up
that one day you turned on your television and there he was lending himself to do the
buffoon, with Mr. Adal Ramones, no? no way gentlemen, but good at least
he got to that point les, I repeat there are bands that already played (cumbia)
and according to they are rockers and they already raffled that the cumbia, the sound, what things
do not? then it's like the song says we must not lose the floor, humility
but you also do not have to open your mouth the rest....
if you know that later you say "to me I would like to play northern music, a
cumbia, better keep quiet ... Yes, with my ideas until I die, never say
never, better you say, what is happening I am a rocker but if one day I like it
to make a salsa I raffled it if one day I like to make a norteña a cumbia a
They are Cuban a cardenche song I raffled ... and there
You have every right, right? I like it, I
like all that music and there it is even reggaeton already sing ...
the rockers, the "rockers" and well, the we call rockers or we do not call them
rockers? Well, as far as they could be rockers were, and that's why
they grabbed as Adam says, the best bidder and I repeat there is nothing wrong with that
give them their good payment because that's what they have raffled all their lives, but I think
here the problem is that so many They said that I will never lend myself,
then we go back to that topic because it's what the song talks about, in fact the
letter has many things that reflect a lot, not only that, but in daily life
do not? that is how sometimes one
He does what the others say, you can not give up what one
really craves, to your dreams at goals that one has, is that it comes
someone and he says to one, because he stops Do not do that? That does not work. It does not work.
classic many times of dads and me I experienced it in my own flesh, they tell you !!
for you to play rock, that's just for drunk drug addicts and up
recently you have that idea of music here in Mexico,
at least rock here in mexico the rock no?
it has many taboos taboos of that not? of drunken drugs
and I say if it exists, I do not deny it but there many who do that aside and
They are giving him hard as a steamroller, making you want yes and well we should not
to put them in that same sack because there are many bands that are
raffling from here in Mexico, but good at final are not lucky to have the
enough money to give yourself that push because here without the "payola" does not sound in
radio, do not play in more scenarios recognized or places of those but good ...
same are other issues what that we'll talk later with more
detail and well, the song is not good? to all we have heard is a
alternative that is up from the other side because it is very different, very very
different here we forget about the super riffs and the mega solos of
virtuous guitar the batteries the double hype of the guttural voices
celestial voices, atmosphere of everything that, here is different here is more the flow
do not? Yeah, like you're listening here, I feel that in this type of songs what
What matters most is the lyrics, normally yes, good is what should
matter, I repeat I said the principle that I do not know
if it's rap, it's this ... hip hop, then in itself I'm just a combination of all that
because if I listened to those touches of pretty marked pop very marked in the
voice, in many places especially in the choirs and the sun or it sounds like me too
very very pop too pop but it's fine fact, if it was wrong, it is not
It would not be that that happened or go there, right? but it's not well produced it's fine
worked up everything is well accommodated, then there is
note not? that production is no longer nothing cheap is already a good production
then, it is quite listenable as I repeat, on the radio this song comes from
flown, without fights and as the problem says they would be a little
the rudeness, no? if those are censored and now! although I also feel that
example here in Mexico the stations of radio, do not program in this type of music,
it's weird, maybe there's there some specialized program but
it's one hour a week So, do not program them in
radio stations more than that of the university, stations
independent, of that type that is where they put that finally because it is very well ...
also because it lends more to that, right? by the type of letters and in stations
most popular then they put what leaves them money like that!
unfortunately, that's right, he ... has this gentleman called "santa flow"
have a youtube channel, enter when Like, look there on YouTube
jump flow and have your channel, have more than 900 videos
What I was talking about is that maybe the beginning being a blogger and already from there
He said: well, I'm going to make my channel, I already had his music and from there he grabbed to follow
and so it was advancing and he himself mentions it in his
music began to create the 14 years, what says and from there ... if they have
had a rock band or have lived the experience, because there the desire to play
they will always exist, if you want go to touch the most recondite town you go
more for the desire, eight hours, nine hours ten hours of travel, in the return there
you know if you're going to come back with instruments or do not? then they are adventures
unforgettable !!! anyone who has lived that or who
still living it, they are things that they are always going to stay there, the truth
they are fabulous things that happen, not are this ... by chance fate, is
because one wants it, because one says I I want to do that is my dream and
let's go ... so to forge the experience as the letter says
although I the letter if he says a lot about what life is like,
general for a musician, sorry, but if I notice something like complaint or complaint
from him to the people who are bothering constantly, that if you already
sold, that because he does not do duets, that too, that's classic when
one is climbing on the scene in the that this, pop rock to reggaeton
do not? so he left it out if it's part of the music although many do not want it
then when one grows in the music
your worst enemies, sometimes they are your friends because they are the ones who tell you that you are
well "sucker" you already went up the smoke you do not go to our parties anymore ... this ...
you already charge, things of those that the truth sometimes one makes her sad and they make you
think and you stay, but it is my work I have fought so long with
a lot of effort, so as to be told that I have to keep playing for free
all life, then that's what I tell you sometimes your best friends with whom
you were at the party playing they turn into the ones that are going to throw you the most
the whole scratch ball, right? you must move forward and sometimes the most
difficult gentlemen, get away from that and "zaz" to final they're going to throw you out, I told you
"sucker" sold, clown ... of everything they want but at
final everyone will fulfill their dreams as of the place
then there is the little advice, then they should not decline when they
Say you've already turned that on, you're this, if you see that they are advancing and that is
everything that is needed, ignore it to others because if you listen to
others and stays stagnant at the end of accounts is one's life
if you said good ... he says no but I He says do not do it ... no? but then he
is going to put the tools for something better, go ahead
but if nothing else, it does not seem like it because I do not touch on his
party or that I'm no longer your disposition ... the classical one and then why not
everyone has to pursue their ideal your dreams and hold on to them
very strong no matter what you Say no? I say if one is firm in that,
if you are like a flag that the air moves it to where
So, yes, we have a problem, right? you always have to fix the
thought, from now on and let's go no matter what happens and you put the
stones that put you, this is gentlemen and let's go let's go and it's the beauty of that
example, I normally do not listen this music the lyrics make us think
and they make us have a pleasant talk, about what we live what we think and
what we want to share, yes and something more, very independent of whether we liked it or
sometimes not letters as you say have that message
as we previously did one of a group called caliber 50
which has a good message ... which is to reflect, how is it very
independent if I liked it or did not like it ... all of them will continue to sound, the
letter is good but you have to understand it do not? it's not just about they're talking
there, at very fast, but it has a background, then let's go Adam winds ..
thanks friends, take care send a hug subscribe denle
I like, share, as always leave us a Comment on this topic
controversial... what do you think of the music, what do you think of
that you have told them, keep going that way is not going to leave you
nothing good, or who has told you already You became a clown and you do not come free to me
I'm going to give you a cardboard beer, because it applies to
everything not just music, how many students do we see
that enter a in one cycle and finish two or three, that's how
then to make people want to your dreams and then forwards and so on
is for everything, be a musician painter, sculptor, bricklayer, carpenter
manager, whatever there's always going to be someone who tells you
you charge very dearly and you are my friend things of those, and not at all for that one
study, work makes you want for one to be able to say this is my collection, yes ... because
I know how to do it, then and why have you invested in it yes it is
it's not that they gave you a gift, that's right gentlemen, then let's go send them a
hug, take care of yourself and there the we see gentlemen: D
