ESA has developed a new revolutionary propulsion system for spacecrafts.

It uses the air molecules of the upper atmosphere of planets and thus allows significantly longer

space missions.

I was born and raised in Apalachicola, Florida.

I did everything you can name

that a 'cola girl would do.

I fished, I shrimped, I oystered.

I did everything basically on the water.

When I was younger I never knew how much the

bay had a big impact on our life and then the oil spill came.

In 2010 the Deepwater

Horizon oil rig exploded dumping more than 200 million gallons of crude oil

into the Gulf of Mexico.

It devastated 16,000 miles of coastline, seriously

impacting the economy and the environment of the Gulf Coast.

For already struggling communities like Apalachicola, Florida it was a crushing blow.

My stepdad he works in a seafood house and once the oil spill came he

didn't have work for a good six months so that made me go get a job. I was 15.

I got off the school bus every day then I went right to work. Got off at eleven and

had to get right back up at six o'clock in the morning for school.

I didn't get my diploma.

Then in 2012 the RESTORE Act set up a trust fund using billions of dollars in

fines from the BP settlement dedicated to rebuilding Gulf Coast communities.

The fund help create GulfCorps, a network of conservation teams tasked with restoring

coastal resources and creating jobs.

Guided by the Nature Conservancy's

experience and expertise the benefit of GulfCorps is twofold for the local

community and for their natural environment.

We're doing this by hiring

young adults, many of whom

are from low wealth

or low opportunity communities

to remove invasive species, improve habitat for endangered species, protect

shorelines and restore oyster reefs.

I was scared. I'm not gonna lie I was

scared I was like dang that's the only thing I know what to do is being a

cashier and count money. I didn't know how to use any tools I didn't know about any

tools but in a Conservation Corps I'm gaining skills, I'm getting certified

in stuff. I can be in construction I can do forestry I can do conservation

We hope that many of the young people that are working for GulfCorps will

become conservation professionals and impact real change for our future.

It's a great feeling to know that young adults

like us can better our community

by taking out invasive species,

building the boardwalk, restoring the bay.

I can see what major impact it had on my life.

I'm learning myself. I'm learning my worth.

I'm more than a cashier. Yeah I can do anything I want to do

if I just put my mind to it.
