Balkan Mountains, Himalaiaski Ep2 - Duration: 11:36.

We don't look for the highest or most difficult peaks Only leave the marked paths.

All of my friends have heard of countries like Serbia, Kosovo, Bosnia, Albania...

but they don't know exactly where they are situated on a map.

So when I proposed a visit the Balkans everybody was very surprised.

- Wasn't it a war zone?

- Are there mountains for skiing there? They asked me

- We are on the plane, on the way to Sofia (Bulgaria), the first stop of this new project of Himalaiaski: "Balkan Mountains"

Bulgaria has two special places for me, and I wanted to take my friends there.

The Vithosa, a beautiful mountain close to Sofia, where we found an impossible slackline,

a frozen steel cable of 150m.

And the Malyovitza, with a spectacular route to climb,

and even better was what we found on the other side.

- With skis it's a bit difficult, but it's good fun to do "ferratas" in the winter.

- Came on Pablo, it's more exciting without the rope.

- Oh yeah!! it's great

- We have just made it to the top of Malyovitza, and it was a little hard.

Now we are going to head down to...

- the Rila Monastery.

There is no better way to arrive at the Monastery of Rila

than arriving with your skis on your back while the tourist look at you strangely.

We are amazed by its architecture, it's a historic wonder situated in the middle of the Balkans.

As we travel through the countries we feel the mix of religions and culture.

- We discover a medieval church in the middle of no where

and some ancient burial sites.

- After an hour walking

we arrive at a village

where there are some houses in ruins, a very rural place,

we can hear the sound of animals.

It's difficult to remember…

that you are in the middle of Europe, it's such a remote place.

It's curious, these places close our home.

- We are very happy because it has snowed in Kosovo,

and all the fresh snow on the mountains is waiting for us.

Brezovica, the most picturesque abandoned ski station in the world.

It was famous for its steep slopes and the best powder of the Former Yugoslavia.

Nobody knows when the last remaining ski lift will work or not.

If it's open you have two options,

you can buy a forfeit or bribe the workman.

We haven't done either of these things,

but he had our own private ski station.

- Under the snow it's completely covered in ice.

- Come on… lets go….

You are a terrible skier

I asked to my Serbian friends for the highest mountain

and they told me it was Mount Korab.

But they had lost the mountain during the last Balkan War

When I searched on the net I found that the mountain had zones with a risk of landmines present, and only it's possible to climb with a military protection

Nevertheless we decided to go

And only ask permission to the neighbors of Rostushe, the nearest village to the mountain.

- Is there any danger of landmines?

- Where? No. In the Mount Korav, no.

There is a danger of beer, not a danger of landmines.

- We have the beer under control.

- Here we are in the main square…

of a remote Macedonian village

More than 1.100km of roads,

100km walking with our skis on our feet and our backs.

7 border controls in 3 different countries.

During the journey we have learnt about the complicated reality of the region.

We are in no doubt,

we have enjoyed the great ski slops in Bulgaria, Kosovo and Macedonia.

The people made us feel welcome, they made us feel at home

But now we change games and magic with their children for the ultimate goal of our trip.

We will go to climb Mount Korab.

We are very close to Mount Korab

It's funny to climb mountains,

It's not necessary to stress by its name, by height, or anything else

Enjoy it

Look, the footprints we just found.

I had never seen any footprints like these.

They look like a wolf, a snow leopard

of bear or of puppy of bear ...

I do not know it, but they are incredible.

Look but it's full ...

They will eat us!!!!

We have to return before the sun goes down, or if not the they'll come and they'll eat us.

good morning welcome back and welcome to day three of my mindful Christmas

challenge as usual all the links are below to catch up on day 1 and day 2 and

also explain the challenge if you're just joining us so for today's challenge

I want you and us all to enjoy a moment of silence and I know mum life silence

is not a big part of being a mom is it we're constantly surrounded by lovely

noisy children and we kind of grow used to it I kind of miss noise when the

children are not around but I also need my little moments of silence so that I

can be the best version of myself and today I want you to really enjoy a

moment of silence now you're gonna have to make something wait for you to have

your moment of silence so if you need to wait until the kids are in school until

they're in bed or if they're having a nap before you grab your phone or the

remote control the laundry basket remember your moment of silence it will

help slow your heart rate it will regulate your breathing

it will clear your head and just for that moment you're gonna be all there

you're gonna be fully there in that moment so when that moment is finished I

would love for you to take a photo of whatever you made wait if it was the

remote if it was someone or something whatever it was that you said you can

wait I'm gonna have my moment of silence I'd love for you to share a picture of

that using the hashtag mindful Christmas challenge and as always I'm looking at
