#Roma 3 Chelsea 0: Conte humiliated on return to Italy as woeful Blues are taught a lesson - Duration: 6:34.Roma 3 Chelsea 0: Conte humiliated on return to Italy as woeful Blues are taught a lesson
FOR THE FIRST TIME in his life England must have felt like home to Antonio Conte.
Normally, Chelsea's manager cannot wait to scarper back to Italy whether to lounge on the beach in his budgie smugglers or watch his beloved Juventus.
Chelsea were taught a lesson as Roma beat them 3-0 this evening.
So it must have felt a little strange last night when he couldn't get onto a private plane quick enough to fly him back to Surrey to contemplate a disastrous night in his career.
Conte watched his English champions dissolve before his eyes on the very night he wanted to show them off as he returned to his mother country on the first working trip since leaving to become Chelsea manager.
At the very start and with only a few brief respites in between, his team was run ragged; the defence abysmal and the spirit visibly sagging until they ended 90 nightmare minutes As a dishevelled mess.
This was Arsenal all over again.
The game just a few weeks into Conte's reign last season when his tactics were trashed by an identical scoreline, although he insisted later he never once feared the sack.
Stephan El Shaaraway scored twice for the Italians.
The forward had Roma ahead with less than 40 seconds on the clock.
Yet the last time Chelsea lost this heavily in Europe the board moved swiftly and didn't give the manager any time to think, axing Roberto di Matteo the very next day.
And they were European champions at the time.
Conte's stock is a bit higher than his predecessor but odd as it sounds, there's been a spanking waiting to happen for Chelsea lately, despite winning three games on the spin before the wheels came off last night.
NO WAY JOSE Chelsea to offer key man new contract to ward off Man Utd.
They were trailing to Watford, were wobbly against Everton and failed to cash in on a sackful of chances against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Conte needs another rethink and quick about how to get his team buzzing again because there is a distinct problem in his team and in just four days' time he has to take them to face Manchester United.
Eden Hazard was feeling the strain when he was kicked in the leg.
El Shaarawy capitalised on a mistake by Antonio Rudiger for his second.
He can no longer point to injuries – his favoured get out clause.
N'Golo Kante is fit again, leaving only Victor Moses in the treatment room.
The big question was whether Conte should have started his little midfield leader Kante for a key match in a tough European group.
The answer came less than a minute into the game when Roma took a surprise lead and Chelsea made an unwelcome little piece of history with the fastest goal they have conceded in the Champions League.
What happened with Atletico? It wasnt all doom and gloom for Chelsea fans as Atletico Madrid were held to yet another draw by minnows Qarabag.
It means Chelsea still have some daylight from the duo despite slipping into second, and a win against Qarabag in the next game will be enough to book their place in the knockout stages.
From right in front of the goal and 20 yards out Stephan El Shaarawy smashed a shot past Thibaut Courtois.
That's prime Kante country.
And the pint-sized warrior's absence left a massive hole in every sense in Chelsea's defensive capabilities without him there.
A curling ball in from the left from former Man City defender Aleksandar Kolarov was perfect for his old City team-mate Edin Dzeko to nod the ball back into the yawning gap right in front of the box with Courtois stranded like a startled, gangly goose.
Diego Perotti celebrated in a strange manner.
The ace appeared to poke his teammate in the bum.
El Shaarawy swept past the dozing Marcos Alonso and with the outside of his right boot planted a shot into the net, wheeling away in joy, ignoring the Chelsea player's daft attempt to claim handball.
Often an early goal stings the losing team into life but Chelsea were ragged for a fair chunk of the first half, with a lack of composure and a string of mis-placed passes that again underlined the significance of not having Kante to mop up in the middle.
The rag-tag play at the back was counter-balanced by Eden Hazard up front, the only Chelsea player who seemed to grasp the urgency of the situation.
He threatened Roma first in the fourth minute and again after twenty minutes shooting straight at the keeper.
Four minutes later he turned deftly turned and shot from the edge of the area.
Had he picked anywhere else it was a certain equaliser.
Maybe that's why defender Federico Florenzi chose to rake his studs down the outside of Hazard's right ankle in a bid to nullify Chelsea's only threat.
Perotti got on the scoresheet himself with a fine solo strike.
Alvaro Morata had a night to forget in front of goal.
Antonio Conte will want to forget about his return to Italy quickly.

Rival political parties show mixed reaction to President Moon Jae-in's policy speech - Duration: 1:16.The parliament showed mixed reactions.
The ruling Democratic Party of Korea praised President Moon's policy address,... saying
it shows his urge to cooperate and that he respects the parliament.
The party said that through the government's income-led growth policies,... the country
will be able to overcome low growth and polarization.
But the main opposition Liberty Korea Party questioned whether the policies would be able
to take care of economic or security issues.
It claimed that by using taxpayers' money to create public sector jobs and increasing
the minimum wage,...the government is not thinking about possible future financial instability.
The center-left People's Party said that the president must not think he has all the answers.
The party stressed the need to listen to the voices of the opposition,... adding that the
government should not pressure parliament to cooperate,... but rather exchange ideas
and yield some ground when needed.
We'll bring you a full coverage on their reactions in our evening newscast.
The minor conservative Bareun Party said that the president's speech didn't really show
any thought about security, growth or unity,... adding that it will closely scrutinize the
government's budget bill so that it can solve any issues.

South Korea's exports rise 7.1 percent on-year in October - Duration: 1:50.South Korea's trade ministry has just released its preliminary exports data for October.
It shows that outbound shipments have continued to grow on the back of the booming semiconductor
sector,... but the growth rate is a bit slower than in previous months.
Kim Hyesung has the details.
Korea has posted twelve months of consecutive export growth.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Wednesday the nation's exports in October
hit 45 billion U.S. dollars, up seven-point-one percent from the previous year.
The figure marks a slowdown from September's 35 percent surge, after a double-digit expansion
in every previous month this year.
But the trade ministry remains optimistic about the preliminary October exports figure,...saying
it grew despite 4.5 fewer working days in the month compared with the previous year.
Based on the daily average, exports grew from September's 2.4 billion dollars to 2.5 billion
dollars in October, showing a continuous growth trend.
Seven out of 13 main products saw exports increase, with semiconductors, ships and petroleum
products posting double-digit growth last month.
In particular, semiconductors saw 9.5 billion dollars in exports, a near 70 percent jump
on-year.
Petroleum products posted higher growth thanks to rise in oil prices and a fall in petroleum
goods supply from China.
South Korea's exports have been on a steady rise since November 2016 thanks to an upturn
in oil prices and recovering global trade.
Imports also increased over seven percent on-year to 37-point-seven billion dollars
last month.

U.S. in direct talks with North Korea's UN diplomats: Reuters - Duration: 0:48.The United States is reportedly carrying out backroom talks with North Korea... despite
President Trump rejecting such talks as "a waste of time."
According to Reuters, Joseph Yun, America's top nuclear envoy, has been in contact with
North Korea's UN diplomats in New York,... trying to convince Pyongyang to stop testing
nuclear bombs and missiles.
The Trump administration was thought to have instructed Yun to only discuss the release
of U.S. citizens detained by the regime,... but a senior State Department source said
communication has not been limited at all, in either frequency or substance.
It's unclear whether the diplomat had been given a pass to discuss such issues... and
so far, there are no definitive signs of any improvement in relations.

South Korean President Moon's state of the nation address to parliament - Duration: 3:13.President Moon Jae-in has addressed the National Assembly for the second time since taking
office.
Our chief Blue House correspondent Moon Connyoung is live on the phone for us with the details.
Connyoung, how would describe President Moon's second speech in parliament but his very first
state-of-the nation on annual budget approval?
It was the president's most earnest appeal for budget approval before the majority-led
parliament.
In his second state-of-the nation to the National Assembly earlier this morning, President Moon
Jae-in optimistically outlined a bold agenda highlighted by social welfare, justice, economy
and security.
If his first parliamentary address focused mainly on the need for a swift approval of
extra budget, today's half-an-hour long speech was more of a general overview of the policies
related to all state affairs explaining why it is that the government is requesting for
the roughly 3-hundred-80 billion U.S. dollar budget for 2018.
That's a spike of a little over 7-percent from this year.
Using powerpoint presentation, the president throughly reviewed the administration's policies
in security, economy, people's livelihoods, social justice and others.
Give us a brief wrap up of each, if you can.
Well, the entire speeh can be broken down to three huge chunks.
Security, economy and amendment of the Constitution which he championed during his presidential
campaign earlier in the year.
On security, the president's message was: Not only will South Korea never tolerate a
nuclear North Korea, it will never seek to possess nuclear weapons either.
Take note.
The president's vow comes amid the opposition parties' call to redeploy U.S. tactical nuclear
weapons to South Korea.
Mr. Moon established that the government's number one goal in security was to establish
peace on the Korean peninsula but that maximum retaliation would be guaranteed in case of
any military provocation by North Korea.
Emphasized again in this part of the speech was close coordination with the global community,
super strong South Korea, U.S. alliance, AND that Seoul will not be taking the backseat
in dealing with North Korea.
Regarding the economy, President Moon again advocated his policy for "people-centered
economy," stressing that his government is doing all that it can to drive Asia's fourth-largest
economy back on the right track.
Noting that policies aimed at creating an economy that is people-centerd and innovation-oriented
would improve social welfare and people's livelihoods, the president stressed that the
proposed government budget for 2018 could be the first step in making that very change.
President Moon outlined them as job creation, greater household income and better public
safety and security.
Last but not least, Mr. Moon struck a note of determination for constitutional amendment...
rushing lawmakers to begin discussions reminding them that in order for the amendment to be
made, it needs to be put to a national vote in the upcoming local elections next June.
The constitutional revision under consideration includes giving more power to local governments
to guarantee autonomy and political reforms that ensures more rights for the average Koreans.
