Hi everyone, this is 13N
Today we are test riding Street Triple R 765
The quality of this bike is top notch
let's start
what a beautiful display
is my hand too small?
the turn signal is a bit hard to reach
alright, let's adjust the mirrors
this dashboard
has got to be the best LCD display that I've ever seen
Prettier than the KTM one
alright, this is a dealership demo ride
so
we can't change the riding modes
we are at road mode
the tachometer looks like
it goes up to 12500 rpm
the riding position
is very comfortable
even though it's called Street Triple
don't get fooled by its name
this bike is very capable at the track too
This is the R version
There's an S, R, and RS version
RS is the top one
I recall it has Ohlins suspension (rear)
peak horsepower is also different
as for the R version
R was the top version, and now it's in the middle
Alsl comes with Brembo brakes
has more power
than the S version
Also comes with more
riding modes
I think it's sport or track mode
now that I am testing this
I can do a quick comparison with MT-09(FZ-09)
ok, my first impression
the bike is built
with great attention to details
I could tell the bike
rides solid. very planted feeling
MT-09 on the other hand is kind of rough on the edge
To be honest, I know very little about Triumph
and I didn't read up too much about it either
test rode a Triumph T100 before
other than that experience, this is my first ride on Street Triple
so if you are looking for
more details, feel free to see other test ride or reviews
I am just here sharing my test riding experience
so this 3 cylinder bike is not only Triumph's flagship model
it is actually the poster child of all 3 cylinder bikes
back then
there weren't many 3 cylinder motorcycles
this is like the most prominent one that you see
until Yamaha came into the picture with an MT-09
since then, people started to pay attentin to 3 cylinder machines
we are still doing city pace
can't really test the power
I think we will be going on highway soon. we can test then.
as for riding position
I find this very comfortable
and it doesn't lose any of the agility
let me give it a try later for more feedback
the fueling in low rpm
is super smooth
this is different from MT-09
smooth even at 5~6000rpm
power is linear
with MT-09, it's more like
the power erupts all of sudden
This 765 engine is Triumph's new engine
this time
if you've been following MotoGP, then..
if you follow Moto2, you'd know that this 765 3 cylinder engine
is going to be used at Moto2
replaces the previous 600rr engine
from what I can see
this bike is known
to combine the high performance
of 4 cylinder engine
it features great peak horspower
combining with useable torque
not just focusing on the torque itself
when I was riding 4 cylinder bike back then
I'd often see street triple around
it had twin round head lamps before
I wasn't really drawn to it
when I saw them
because I think it looks weird
why go with twin round headlight? like Wall E?
you know when you first start riding
you only see bike on its apperance
so I wans't interested in this type of naked bike
only wanted to look at sportsbike
didn't pay much attention to street triple at all
let alone thinking about test riding one
it's until recently that I started to expose myself
to different type of motorcycles
I realize that there are still a lot of bikes to try
glad to have opened myself up for all types of bikes
and got to try out this bike
2 words to sum this bike up. Superb Quality
just holding on the grip,
you can feel that the engine vibration
is very different from other bikes
very interesting
a bit rythem that's like 1,2,3,1,2,3
before test riding this bike, the dealer asked me for my riding experience
out of all the demo bikes today,
they worry about people test riding this 765
I could understand why
but so far it's not as scary as the MT-09
quite the opposite
very smooth, like a 4 cylinder bike
The tire on this Jeep Rubicon is so noisy
ok, we are heading to the highway
time to try high rpm
ok, let's put it in 2nd gear
so smooth
I've learned to keep the gear low for some demo ride fun
high speed and high rpm
at around 8000rpm. the handlebar vibrates a little
try higher gear, 6th gear
suspension reacts really well, I like it
feels great!
just gunned past the other car, he's probably not too happy
gear indicator looks good
there's a little animation for gear changes
speed at around 110km/h
quite windy and noisy while cruising, especially with my adventure helmet
still rides quite comfortably
at this speed
at around 4~5000rpm
this bike reminds me of
James Bond
007, English gentleman
feels very refined
solid build and very clean
at the same time, it shoots to kill
MT-09 on the other hand feels like a beast
the suspension is really good
even at bumpy sections, the dampening and rebound
react really well
bike doesn't hop or skips
Given the price, I could see why MT-09 is very popular
with such low price
you could easily afford a monsterous 3 cylinder machine
even though this street triple
is better than MT-09 all around
but I don't think many people would consider given the price point
and also that it's a British bike
some people may worry about maintenance
honestly, if you have the budget
to look into Triumph's motorcycles
this bike will definitely impress you
front brake (test)
quite short demo ride today, but it was a good one
rides really well
alright, that's it for the test ride. Thanks
