Hey everyone I hope you're doing well!
During October I joined 2 readathons from which I made some vlogs.
In those vlogs I talked about the reviews from those books.
But there where also weeks in October during which I didn't join any readathon.
But I did read some books, and this is the wrap up for those books.
So here are the clips from every time I finished a book and talked about it.
In this section of my wrap up I'll talk about 3 books I read during the first week of October.
The first one was The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli.
I love that all her books are really light, however I had some issues with...
...with some stuff that happened with the main character.
Not so much what happened, but her way of thinking. The excuses she used to avoid certain situations.
Some of them I completely got, but some others felt too exaggerated.
That's the only thing that I didn't really like about the main character. Still in the end you get attached to her.
In this book we follow an overwheight girl, who isn't comfortable with her looks.
So that has caused some difficulties with her self-esteem.
But she has really good friends who support her. And it's one of those friendships you'd like to join in. It's all really cute.
I gave it 3 stars.
Then I read the short story of The Gentleman's Guide to Getting Lucky by Mackenzi Lee
You received this short story if you preordered The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy.
Which I had to do because I wanted to read this short story.
And it was beautiful, it was everything I expected, because you get more from the characters from the first book.
It's a 50 pages story that gives you everything you wanted to see between Percy and Monty.
And I loved it, I gave it 5 stars.
The third one was the audiobook of The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater.
This is the 2nd book from The Raven Boys saga.
In this one we focus more on Ronan's character. Who was a character we didn't know much about
and intrigued me in the first book, but in this one we can learn more about him.
And loved it because I love dark and mysterious characters. Because you know there's something behind that story.
In this one the group of friends keep up with the search they began in the first book.
And since it's a sequel I can't say much about it but I gave it 4 stars.
I just finished listening to the audiobook of Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman.
This is the first book by Neil Gaiman that I read.
And now I get all the hype behind this author.
I can't believe I had never read anything by him and now I want to read all his books.
He's also the author of Coraline, and this book conveys that same vibe Henry Selick managed to portray in the movie adaptation of Coraline.
Which involves fantasy, but darkness and at the same time good humor which makes you laugh out loud.
In this book we follow Richard who lives in a regular, normal London. Until he meets Door.
Who will take him in a trip to a parallel London where we'll meet grotesquely funny creatures.
Where both of them are trying to solve a situation they're going through.
The audiobook is narrated by the author, so he gives it the intonation he wants and he knows he wants to convey in his story.
It also has music and sound effects that make you feel more involved in this fantasy world.
It was beautiful!
I loved it and I'd love to read it again, this time in its physical copy, so I don't get distracted
which happens with audiobooks. I wander and get lost in a paragraph.
So I gave it 4.5 stars, but I'm sure that if I hadn't wander in those chunks for being an audiobook, I would have given it 5 stars.
Now I have to read everything Neil Gaiman has ever written.
The audiobook of Neverwhere also included the short story of How The Marquis Got His Coat Back.
It's a really short story which in audiobook lasted about an hour and a half.
It's meant to complement the story a bit.
To get a bit more from the story but now following The Marquis.
Honestly this story doesn't bring much to the general story.
It's entertaining and funny as was the rest of the book.
So I gave it 3 stars.
And finally I read Volume 9 of Saga.
This volume destroys you, entirely.
The downside is that this time we'll have to wait longer for the next number
because the author is on a year hiatus from this saga so he can work in his other projects.
This volume has a bittersweet taste, but I still love it.
I think the first image from this volume describes entirely what we'll get in this number.
Which it basically says: We're all f***ed
And I think it applies to the whole saga not only this number.
Those were my readings from October. Thanks for watching this video, see you in the next one.
