Think of turning back the clock an hour

like taking a trip.

"You're basically changing time zones."

Vishesh Kapur is a sleep specialist at UW Medicine in Seattle.

He says that even an extra hour on the clock

will feel like you've traveled to another time zone.

"Being in a different time zone than your biological clock is in

is bad for your body. It takes time to adjust

but may also affect your body in ways

besides just how alert you feel."

Our bodies work on a 24--hour cycle

called circadian rhythms, which determine

our sleep and wake schedule.

Daylight is the primary regulator,

so when we adjust our clock back,

our bodies get out of sync.

"Your internal clock has to start to match the new times.

Though you can adjust that clock as much as an hour

over a 24-hour period, usually it takes longer than that,

It will take 2 or 3 days for your clock to adjust

to having a new bedtime and wake up time."

To help your body's clock adjust to an extra hour, try this:

"When you turn the clock back,

go to bed a little bit earlier in clock time

or closer to the time you were used to falling asleep.

Because you'll end up waking up close to

the biological time you were waking up before."

BREAKING: Top Dem Drops Russiagate Bombshell, Media Shocked - Duration: 3:49.

With the mainstream media looking desperately for signs that Donald Trump himself is under

investigation, they were surprised when one Democrat member of the House Intelligence

Committee broke their bubble.

Rep. André Carson (D-IN), and member of the House Intelligence Committee said that "Well,

to my knowledge, he's not under investigation," according to The Washington Free Beacon.

When CNN host Wolf Blitzer asked whether or not President Trump was being investigated

at the moment, Mr. Carson responded by saying that he wasn't.

"Well, to my knowledge, he's not under investigation," Carson said.

"I think the greater point is for us to look at the influence of the Russians and

the extent of their influence in terms of meddling in our electoral process.

Director Mueller is tasked with looking for any criminal activity, and as we've seen

with the recent arrests and indictments, we're encouraging folks to stay tuned."

Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted former short-lived Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort

for charges related to financial crime in a case unrelated to the Trump campaign.

Although many on the Left hoped that the indictment would only be the start of a series of arrests,

Mr. Carson's comments indicate otherwise.

As reported by CBS News, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders spoke about

the indictments.

"We're not worried about it distracting because it doesn't have anything to do with

us."

Chief of Staff John Kelly made a similar statement adding, "All of the activities, as I understand

it, that they were indicted for was long before they ever met Donald Trump."

He did admit, however, that "It is very distracting to the President, as it would

be to any citizen to be investigated."

President Trump had denied that he was under investigation as well.

Speaking to The New York Times, Mr. Trump insisted, "I'm not under investigation,

as you know," and that "even if you look at that, there's not even a mention of Trump

in there," referring to Paul Manafort's indictment.

One anonymous source said that although President Trump is "annoyed" with the constant focus

on the Russian narrative, a narrative with little corresponding investigation surrounding

the Democrat's scandals, the President remains optimistic that things will change in due

time.

"Everybody is asking why the Justice Department (and FBI) isn't looking into all of the

dishonesty going on with Crooked Hillary & the Dems," the President said recently.

"At some point, the Justice Department, and the FBI must do what is right and proper.

The American public deserves it!"

Another prominent figure recently shed some light on the nature of future investigations.

In an interview with CNN, former-CIA Director Leon Panetta said he felt that Mr. Mueller's

investigation was just getting started, but added that further indictments in the future,

which he felt were likely, would be involving both political parties.

Panetta said, "I think one thing is for certain, that we are at the beginning of this

investigation, not at the end of it.

And as a result of that what these indictments may indicate, is that as a result of it, there

will be other trails of evidence that will be followed by Bob Mueller.

I think there's probably a very good bet that additional indictments will be forthcoming

and could involve members of both parties."

One such individual is Tony Podesta, brother of Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman John

Podesta.

He is under investigation for violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which

is the same crime Manafort stands accused of now, as reported by NBC News.

The exact nature of the investigation goes much further than the mainstream media would

have you believe.

In reality, President Trump is far from any investigation about anything.

An Asteroid Visited Us From Outside the Solar System! - Duration: 5:03.

[♪ INTRO]

Even though we spend tons of time studying them,

it's impossible for us to visit other star systems, at least, right now.

But recently, a visitor from another system came to see us.

On October 19, astronomers at the University of Hawaii noticed something new in the sky,

and at first, it seemed like a regular asteroid, less than half a kilometer wide.

Except, when they mapped its path through space,

they found that it's moving way too fast to be orbiting the Sun.

That means, as far as anyone can tell, this newly discovered asteroid is the first one

we've ever seen from outside the solar system!

The asteroid is currently known as A/2017 U1,

and astronomers have searched for objects like it for decades.

They expect that, when new planetary systems form, the planets' gravity should occasionally

slingshot some leftover rocks into interstellar space.

And every once in awhile, one of those lonely rocks should enter another star system, like

ours, carrying chemical clues about the neighborhood it came from.

But we've never actually seen one of these interstellar tourists before, which is why

A/2017 U1 is so exciting.

At first, astronomers thought that U1 was just a Near-Earth Object, our name for any

large rock whose orbit passes near Earth's.

But when they calculated its speed and trajectory, they discovered that it can't be an NEO:

Those all orbit the Sun, and U1 is just going too fast to be held,

or even slowed down, by the Sun's gravity.

And we don't know of anything along its path that could've sped it up so much.

Which means it must've fallen toward the Sun from somewhere else,

probably from the direction of the constellation Lyra.

Right now, U1 is rocketing out of the solar system at about 44 kilometers per second,

or almost twice as fast as the average asteroid.

And unfortunately, it'll probably never come back.

Researchers all over the world will spend the next few weeks

frantically pointing telescopes at U1, hoping to learn as much as they can

about its trajectory, composition, and behavior before it leaves for good.

But they don't have long.

After a month or so, it'll be so far from the Sun

that even our best telescopes won't be able to see it any more.

Now, it's completely possible that all this research will end up revealing a much more

normal explanation of U1's impressive speed.

After all, it was just discovered, so we hardly know anything about it.

And even if it is from somewhere else, we might not have enough time with U1 to learn

much more about where it came from or what it's made of.

But for now, this rock seems like it's the closest we've ever been

to a piece of another star system.

So, thanks for swinging by, U1!

Now, as far as we know, everything else around the Sun has been here since the beginning.

And one of those rocks is the dwarf planet Ceres in the asteroid belt, where NASA's

Dawn spacecraft has been orbiting for more than two years.

Two new studies, published this month, have used data from Dawn to support the idea that

Ceres used to have oceans, by finding ways that

the ocean's remnants could still be affecting its surface.

The first study, published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets, used measurements

of Ceres's gravity and shape to calculate the density of rocks on and beneath its surface.

When there are denser rocks, or something with a lot of mass, like a mountain,

the gravitational pull of that spot will be stronger.

And that can help us figure out what an object is made of.

Using this data, the researchers found that Ceres's crust just isn't dense enough

to be made of regular rocks, which we basically already knew.

But in this new paper, the scientists proposed that there's water-ice mixed in with the

rocks, along with salts and something known as clathrate hydrate, or trapped gas bubbles

surrounded by water molecules.

And the second study, published in Earth and Planetary Science Letters,

found the same thing.

It confirmed and added to those findings by looking more closely at how Ceres's surface

seems to have changed over time.

We know that harder rocks like iron tend to keep their shape

better than softer or waterlogged rocks do, so the more flattened areas on Ceres's surface

are probably made of softer, less dense rock.

Except, these researchers also found that Ceres is made of pretty strong stuff.

So the only way they could reconcile Ceres's low density with its strong crust was if the

crust was made of a combination of rocks, ice, salts, and clathrate hydrate.

And if that sounds familiar, that's because that's exactly what the first study's

authors found, based on different measurements and methods.

All that water in Ceres's crust supports the idea that Ceres originally had oceans

on its surface that have since frozen or escaped into space.

Which is pretty awesome for a dwarf planet.

The second study's authors also pointed out that Ceres's insides seem weaker than

the outer crust, which could mean that there's still some liquid water leftover after all.

But before you get your submarines ready, we still need more data to be sure.

Fortunately, NASA announced that they'll be extending the Dawn mission a second time,

and it'll be closer to Ceres than ever before

until it runs out of fuel sometime late next year.

So, our interstellar visitor U1 might be speeding away from the solar system, but we still have

lots of cool stuff to study here, too.

I think of ourselves as animals and I don't know

if most people who are writing

are thinking of themselves as a primate.

My name is Silvia Torti and I have a PhD in biology

more specifically ecology and

I'm also a creative writer.

As I was finishing my PhD I had realized

that I probably wasn't going to create a career

as a research scientist.

I loved ecology, I loved the practice of ecology

but I was searching for other ways to

explore and process the world.

I loved the world that you could fall into

when you opened up a book, that you could be

in another place another time

and I think that that love of the art of the novel,

you know, has always been with me creativity

I think it's the interplay between

curiosity observation thinking and then making.

You know, there are lots of parallels

between being a scientists

and being an artist you don't always

know whether you're going to find the answers

to your questions and there's a lot of

anxiety that can come from that

but there's a lot of fun to it too,

because you're on the edge of not knowing.

There's of course creativity in science

you have to be creative in thinking

about your experiments, in the asking of questions

you have to design your experiments

and then you have to be creative

in how you communicate your work

I would say the the most successful scientists

are extremely good communicators of story.

I think I'm inspired by the natural world.

Science and ecology show up

in all of my stories either as character

or setting or metaphor.

I'm always aware that we are

this super interesting species of primate

and we're living in this world

largely of our own making

and the ways that we interact with that world

are just fascinating to me.

I want us to go beyond the veneer of assumptions

that we have about scientists and then use characters

who are scientists to ask fundamental questions

about ourselves as well as

the human condition.

I don't write my novels in a linear way

they're not plot driven

they're really explorations of character and voice

and situation and then it takes me a very long

time to put those pieces together

so I think of my work more as kind of

collage making much like the work of

an ecologist if you are studying

an ecosystem and you study it for one year

versus five years versus ten years

you're putting more pieces of how it all fits

together and I think as I've grown

in my writing I see potential more quickly than

I used to see potential.

There's of course creativity in art and humanities

but I think that there is also the potential

for creativity to manifest in love,

in rearing of children,

in ageing.

Fundamentally, i think we are all creative as humans.

Because we're curious animals

we observe, we can practice our skills

of observation we all think

and then the making part, the making can be a

product, an actual artifact, like a book that I wrote

or the making could be something that's ephemeral

like the moments that you have raising a child.

There's a lot of play in it.
