Youtube daily report Nov 24 2018

hello everyone GHF here back at you fwith another g-shock unboxing a review video

today I'm gonna review a vintage master of G watch called the master of G

fishermen well before proceed even further I am currently wearing another vintage

master of G watch, and that is the AW-570, the mudman g-shock ana-digi version

and there's a lot of master of g watches at the back as well, master of G

usually features something that most g-shock just didn't have. So it is coming

special, in this case, it was released in the year 1996, so it is quite a big deal

if you compare to the age and also all the watch that was released in the

year 1996. So for example, this watch feature a titanium parts most of them, not the

hard case, the hard case is still resin hard case, but all the metal, tiny

metal parts, is made out of titanium and thus allowed is watch to be used thoroughly

in the ocean, in the middle of the sea, by the beach, while you're fishing, basically

exposed to salt water without having to worry about if your watch; if your metal

parts; if the metal parts in your G Shock watch will begin to rust because

titanium is rust resistant. It is not as tough as stainless steel but it is

tougher in that type of environment so that's why this watch is a big deal.

Not just that, Casio add a lot more functions that will becoming handy if

you're a fisherman, all this variables really really matters for mistaken I'm a

huge fishing guy myself but I do know a little bit about this type of topic, so

knowing that this watch could do or perform all those feature, it is..I gotta say

it is really really incredible, not just that, there's a lot more, so let's run to

all of them, but firstly let's start with the watch construction. So, which is

incredible by the way. The watch feature.. well, you guys can already see this is

how the overall piece looks like right now the buttons feature..only four of

them in red color way for this specific series, it is square, sorta like a round

in shape with three stripes, for the texture for a better grip; both sides

goes with the same type of construction, the watch band was locked with two

screws in tinium as well, similar to the screwed as

locking this mud man or gulf man model today I believe the gulfman, the

recent G-9100 Gulfmann is so like the predecessor for this fisherman I mean

this watch is dead stock but Casio, replaced that with the Gulfman since the

material is still the same, anyway moving on

it does features a ring on top to support the watch to make it looks

tougher and also indeed to make it..it is a little bit more tougher, I already

disassembled the watch to see how it was constructed another say it is a really

interesting watch, it has five layers of protection in there, so this is definitely

gonna be worth while.

We'll have a red g-shock on top and white writings,

lettering on the side with G stamped at the front over here that is not the light

button, this is just for aesthetics, the light button will be access on this upper

right corner which will glows in green color way, electroluminescene that is.

Alright, I'm way ahead of myself right now into the functions right. Let's move back

out to the watch strap, which does feature a stamp of a 'fishermen' writings

down there, so there's interesting literally, just tell you guys that this is the

fisherman and it does feature this texture in the middle of this watch band,

the watch band is straight but tapered in a weird manner at the tip over here

which is really interesting I don't think I'm seeing any g-shock watch that

have this type of watch band at all right and similar to this other side of

the watch band and this side will have a rust resistant

well it is similar to this guy right, here is rust resistant frogman g-shock watch

because it is titanium and also titanium case over there in this case fishermen

and rust resistant the watch band keeper however is made out of resin which

already disintegrated, I mean this was already 20 years old all of the resin

part definitely will start begin to disintegrate but surprisingly the watch

band on a vintage G-Shock watch, usually will last a lot longer than any other

parts in there including the engine sometimes this is the watch buckle, which

looks incredible different it is not the most practical one but it is the best

one yet for safety I wear the watch quite a few times

and I gotta say it is not easy to wear the watch with this double buckle but it

is really really secure I never felt much more safer when compared to when

wearing other watches at the back I mean I have a lot of G Shock watches you know

but when I'm wearing this..this one feels secure, this.. not everything, I mean this one

feels secure not the gulfmaster, it will sit on your wrist the whole time you're

wearing the watch, so we'll see now there is a Casio Japan signed below it, in this

titanium buckle, matte finishing. And by the way, I replaced the watch band keeper

with this metal bar I have that are taken out from other G Shock watches

that get quite a pretty good job similar way where when I use on my gulfmaster

this type of buckle is really really comfortable, if you haven't tried this one

yet, please do you'll never gonna switch to a

resin band keeper anymore.. I'm sorry not buckle, band keeper. Anyway, moving back

to the back plate, you'll see that it is made out of titanium, it is locked with

four screws only on each corner which also made out of titanium as well, and it

is pretty interesting to see the emblem, the logo for a fisherman that featured a

mermaid, I didn't see this coming at all, it should be something more manly usually

but this time it is a mermaid, Anyway they have the Casio, one five one nine

module, dw - eight nine zero sorry eight six zero zero reference number,

Japan titanium back, water resistant to 20 bar, and of course fisherman and

shock resistant structure. So fully made in Japan g-shock watch packed with a lot

of feature, made for fisherman or any sea, ocean, beach related activities so

this is incredible man, just look at a glimpse; it'll instantly will reminds you

of the frogman g-shock watch, let me compare them side to side look at that

the feature are almost the same as well except the frogmen didn't have any

sensor at all, this guy has a thermometer sensor and tide graph and moon phase,

basically you know what, this watch has more function than the frogman, if I

would like to compare, this is much more comparable to the gulfmaster really

because it has the sunrise and sunsets, thermometer reading and all those, so yeah

this one is better for comparison and talking about the functions though

that's moving on to the ones face and have a look right away what else that

this watch will offers to you. So three digital display panel. The 'eye'

will display you the thermometer reading right away, you can swap the digital

display down here to displayed day- thermometer-time display instead or

just regular Day-Date display as I already mentioned you could use the

upper and bottom for EL backlighting and of course you'll have this moon phase

and tide graph display on top right away at hometown keeping for tide prediction,

knowing when the tides gonna go up and down will significantly impact your

activity or result in more catch if you are gonna be using this for fishing of

course. Next function will be moon up and moon down, not sunrise and sunset but

or should I say moon rise or moon set?? the watch will tells you the moon age and also the

time where the moon will be at the lowest point and the time where the moon

will be at a higher point. This is important for you to predict how strong

a tide would be, you will also be able to predict all this every single day

in advance, so that is interesting. Pressing mode button, will bring you back to

hometown keeping, pressing mode button again will brings you to the uh sunrise and

sunset mode. Of course you're gonna need to know the time when the Sun gonna go

up, when the suns gonna go down because that will affect the uh temperature change.

And also the weather change, which soon will affect how the fish will act or

react to that so it's pretty important. Next is alarm, this watch will feature I

believe just a single alarm right and this is how it will sounds like, while

setting the alarm, you do have access to timekeeping on top of there so that is

really convenient. Next function, uh sorry, moon,

sunrise, alarm, and stopwatch with a precision to 1 over 100 seconds ranging

all the way to 24 hour. Pretty cool, you could time your fishing; just to make

sure or just to know how many minutes that would it take for you to catch

something so that is pretty nice as well. So, you could stop this, you could split time,

as well if you wanted to, and that's pretty much it. There are no countdown

timer at all in here, nothing else so obviously recent release G Shock watch is

better but this watch in my opinion for the price; is really incredible. It

till that about 21,000 Japanese yen but if you're purchasing this watch today it

will cost almost half the price of that which in turns similar to most g-shock

watch; entry-level G Shock watch we got today. So knowing that this watch has a

lot of functions and the price is roughly similar to most low-end G Shock

watch today if you find one of these I highly highly recommend you guys to grab

you right it away especially if you found this in a great condition definitely

definitely a good catch. This is totally worth it, the watch.. I mean overall of

course you're gonna need to make sure the condition is great but overall it is

a really really good time piece, you know what, I can't wait to wear this watch on

my wrist and show you guys how it will looks like, when you're putting this

strap into the buckle it is slightly, not as smooth like when you are wearing other

G Shock watches, you gonna be able to feel a little bit of resistance so

that's pretty nice, look at that I didn't even put a buckle yet but the watch

already stick on my wrist so that is a nice indicator as well but not as easy

to be put, but for professional wear, this watch feels really really safe now

add it in the buckle down there, I could just wear the watch from here and you

are good to go because the strap is pretty thick and they are built really

tightly, and it is pretty stiff as well, so it will snug, sits snug on there but if

you want a better security if you want to feel a lot more secure, you could

slide it in this side of the buckle which is not gonna be easy at all, look at that

I'm struggling right now but there it is once you add it in here the watch is

pretty much stick on there this is not gonna go anywhere at all now put the

band keeper pull it all the way up and there it is not a lot of extended tongue

at all I'm wearing it hole number two from the

top, so if you have a skinnier wrist, this is also a good deal

incredible g-shock watch which is really underrated I don't know why probably

because not a lot of people know about this I make this one was released like

two decades ago so I didn't expect anyone to be able to know about this

watch, there aren't a lot of people talking about this watch anyway

but now you do, you could find this information out there, I already talked

about this. So if you have any concern, idea or comment, please leave them in the

comment section down below, it can be pretty helpful to everyone as well in

order to decide whether this watch is perfect for them or not but for me my

personal opinion, I gotta say this is a great great catch (pun intended), alright so that sums it

all up if you want to see me unbox more and more master of G, high-end master of

G model like this in the future you can do so by donating to my Patreon page or

just buy any one of my t-shirt design merchandise, it's gonna help the channel

to grow significantly but whatever method do you pick to help

the channel to grow our appreciate it a lot already so that sums it all up thank

you very very much for watching thank you very very much for your support this

is GHF and I'm...

KOREAN STREET FOOD tour in SEOUL'S SECRET food alleys | BEST Korean food in SEOUL, South Korea - Duration: 22:42.

Seoul, the vibrant capital of South Korea has an exciting food culture, in this

three-part series we're taking you around the hidden food alleys and entire

towns dedicated to serving one particular Korean dish, this is where the

locals eat, this is our second video of the series and we're grilling spicy baby

octopus in jjukkumi alley, visiting grilled fish alley and eating the best

Korean pancake in pajeon alley, you don't want to miss this video

get ready for some mouth-watering food

I'm Thomas and I'm Sheena and we're Chasing

a Plate, we hope you're hungry, let's eat

we're starting at jjukkumi street and jjukkumi is webfoot octopus and this

whole alleyway behind me is lined with restaurants selling the same dish

jjukkumi bokkeum which is stir-fried octopus, let's go and get some

thank you

we have ordered our jjukkumi and it is bubbling away furiously in front of us

in the center of the table so these are the webfoot octopus... thank you! The staff just

brought over some sides so I'll talk you through that later so we've got the

octopus here and this species of octopus is really prevalent along the coast of

Korea so it's a really popular food here it's come with some slices of pork belly

so that's cooking away in the stew as well there's also some tteok which are rice

cakes, we've got some enoki mushrooms which are hiding underneath

there, there we go, some enoki mushrooms these along the side here are yaki mandu so

deep fried dumplings and then halfway through the mixture cooking, the staff

came over and they added some fresh prawns so we've got some fresh prawns in

there and you can see that the colour of the jjukkumi, the stir fried octopus is a

bright red and that red is from gochujang so Korean chilli paste

the side they brought over was a hot plate of cheesy sweet corn and it looks insanely

good and then also towards the end of the cooking of the octopus they

bulked it out even more by adding some noodles so there's some I think maybe rice

noodles or glass noodles cooking away there, now in order to eat this meal you

get an array of side dishes, they're made up of pickles and fresh vegetables to go

with it so we've got some perilla leaves, some raw garlic, pickled radish and then some carrot and

cucumber and then some sauce here so we've got I think that might be ssamjang

which is a mix of gochujang which is the chilli paste and soy bean paste

and then this creamy looking, like a mayonnaise almost to go with it as well

I can't wait to get in

it is now ready to go so I'm gonna grab a perilla leaf

and get some of this octopus, this smells like it's gonna be incredibly spicy so

I'll put some rice cake and some octopus on there, whoa it's really hot, now grab

some of this pickled radish, lay a bit of that on top I'm gonna keep it simple

with just those couple of things, you wrap that right up into a little parcel

and now I'm gonna get some of this creamy sauce onto here oh look at that

it's really thick it looks like almost an aioli or a mayonnaise

Wow that is a great combination of flavours, the perilla leaf is very strong, tastes like

aniseed and then the spice comes through from that

gochujang sauce it's all bubbling away in on the table, it's not as spicy as

I thought from the look of it, it looks so vivid and like it's just gonna be

killer spicy, it's not too bad at all actually it's got a little bit of

sweetness the spice and then the pickle I couldn't really taste but that did

sort of add a little bit of crunch and I'm sure there was a bit of acidity

coming from that and then that creamy sauce which is pretty much like an aioli

which just balanced out everything really really well because you got the

spice you got that aniseed flavour from the perilla leaf and then a real creaminess

and the octopus itself was quite chewy had a beautiful texture but it was quite

chewy to bite through and didn't have any real seafood flavour or anything like

that but it actually just tasted like the gochujang sauce so just tasted like

that beautiful spicy mixture that it's all bubbling away in

all right I want to get

some of this pork belly where is, oh there we go, let's get a slice of this

pork belly and I'm gonna grab one of these perilla leaves as well so place

the pork there and then a bit of octopus, might get a tentacle, might get a couple of

tentacles actually, all right a couple of tentacles on there, and then a slice of

this pickled radish, I love this stuff it really adds a real freshness to each

bite, oh I just licked my chopsticks and I can feel that chilli on my tongue it is

burning, I'm gonna do the same as Thomas and get some of this aioli so a big

splodge of that, all right,

let's go for this one mouthful

oh wow that is a bite that just keeps on giving in terms of flavour, like Thomas said

that perilla leaf just adds a beautiful aniseed flavour it's really fresh and the

octopus is really bouncy in texture, that pork belly just sort of oozed a bit

because it had a beautiful layer of fat in there, it just added extra flavour to the

mouthful and then that pickled radish is just really clean tasting

and then that aioli

I love how this pan is filled with so

many different ingredients so I've loaded up my plate with the yaki

mandu so the dumpling which has been deep-fried but it's gone a bit soft now

that it's been cooked down and I think that's actually filled with glass

noodles, some tteok which are rice cakes and then glass noodles and then the

octopus and some pork so let's just try this tteok so the ricecake

mmm so tteok have a really great texture quite chewy

that's really good, it's just soaked up all of that gochujang sauce, it's quite spicy, let's give

this mandu a try

so it's filled with like a glass noodle but the glass noodle is quite hard maybe because

it's been deep-fried and then the pastry itself has gone quite soggy

because its been soaking up all of that broth, that's really tasty but what's really caught my

attention is this creamy cheesy corn dish so I'm gonna get a big spoonful of

that ohhhh look at that, all of that cheese, let's just give that a taste

the corn is really sweet, it tastes like it's cooked in mayonnaise and then there's just

that cheese all on top which is just really creamy and oozy, that's a great side

that was truly delicious and it got spicier and spicier and spicier as we

went so by the end of the meal it was burning it was really good I love these

laneways check them out so this one is nothing but restaurants serving that dish

remember this video is going to be made up of a number of these laneways, in fact

this entire series so this is video two out of three videos featuring these

types of food streets in Seoul, these are such cool places to eat let's go get some

more food

we're walking off our huge meal of octopus and we have stumbled upon

Sangam village which has got a number of different murals about 52 murals done

by a famous cartoonist and you're just weaving in amongst the houses and

looking at all of the murals, this is so quirky and cool

we've now come to another part of the city Dongdaemun so we're hunting down

grilled fish alley here, there's a couple of really interesting buildings in this

part of town, one is the Dongdaemun gate so that was built in 1396 and then had

some rebuilds after that the last rebuild was in 1869 and it was part of

the, the wall that made up the protection for Seoul and there's another incredible

building in this area but we'll show you that one

after the meal so let's go and find grilled fish alley

we're just at the entrance to grilled fish alley and the smell of the fish

cooking is really strong it's really beautiful

so there's something like 14 grilled fish restaurants that make up this alley

and they all have their own local following so we're just going to go and

pick one, let's go and eat

we've got our grilled fish meal in front of us and there's so much fish to choose

from so let me talk you through what we ordered we have got a mackerel pike this

little guy here and then this giant piece of fish in the middle is galchi

which is Cutlass fish and then this guy here is a Japanese Spanish mackerel and

then as is usual with a Korean meal we've got an array of banchan so we've got

kimchi which is brined and pickled napa cabbage then we've got some more

pickled greens there which have got a bunch of chilli in there as well, we've

got perilla leaf kimchi and then also some sprouts and then to go everything we've

got a bowl of rice each and then also some soy bean soup

I'm gonna start with

this Samchi or this Japanese Spanish mackerel

so downstairs they're cooking outside in the alleyway and the, the fish is pre

grilled but when you order they take it off the almost done piles and they add it

back on the grill, cook it right through and charr it up nicely, so there's smoke

filling the air in this tiny little alleyway, the smell is incredible and

now the smell coming up off this fish is incredible, it's so fresh, let's just try and

rip whoa look at that, huge piece of that mackerel oh I'm just gonna have to have

it all, look at that and we'll dip it straight into the

soy just a little bath in the soy, there is some wasabi on the table as well but I'm

gonna go no wasabi first to really get the flavor of the fish and we'll go with

wasabi afterwards

wow this is good, it has a beautiful texture the flesh it's actually a little

bit dry but it's very fleshy so it's got a lot of texture and it's got a little

bit of charred flavour from the outside and it's quite salty I think it might be

brined or salted cause it's got a lovely saltiness and not from the soy the

saltiness is coming from the, from the fish itself, the soy just adds a nice little

sweetness to mouthful and mackerel is a pretty oily fish and that is still quite

oily but not as oily as I was expecting actually and they're cooked on a, on a grill

so an open grill, not on a hot plate, have had this meal before in Busan and that

was cooked on a hot plate so it was a lot more oily than this this is quite

dry um really really good

have a look at this wasabi so it's a really finely

ground paste so I'm gonna get a huge dollop of that and pop it in the side of

my soy, oh that looks amazing and I'm gonna try the, the cutlassfish

or also known as hairtail fish so we'll dump a huge bit of wasabi on there, it's called

hairtail cause it's very long and thin so you can see it's a very long fish here

but when it's whole you see it in markets, if you've even been to Korea you

definitely would have seen this fish very very long a beautiful silver colour

almost the colour of these chopsticks and with a

very very thin tail like a piece of string so hairtail fish, alright let's

get a piece of that with that big dump of wasabi on top, a little bit of soy hmm

Wow whoa that wasabi hmm that fish is amazing that's a much better texture

than the Spanish mackerel, it's a bit more moist, not so dry and quite a lovely sort

of soft flavour, not too punchy, not too fishy that is really really good but

the wasabi, that's what made that mouthful, the wasabi's not um very hot

at all, not very you know wasabi can really get up your nose and really...

it's not like that it's sweet actually it's beautiful let's try

banchan, so we've got these perilla leaves here so um

kimchi perilla leaves so covered in a little bit of spice you would have seen

these in the octopus so the first section of this video but we were having them fresh for

the wraps these ones are pickled and covered in

all of that chilli

mmmm oh yum so we've got that aniseed-y liquorice flavour that I think we talked

about in the octopus segment, still got that flavour but not nearly as strong because

they're pickled and a really nice chilli hit, a sharp chilli, really hits you on the side

of the tongue, mmmm that is a really good side

I love these types of meals in Korea because it's a really balanced way of

eating so you've got your protein, your carbs and then your vegetables which come

in the banchan form, so all these pickled vegetables and you feel

really satisfied after eating like this full but not bloated and it's just

really great because you've got all these varying textures and flavours and

we're sitting traditional style so we're sitting on the floor cross-legged at

this low table it's just a really neat way of eating

that was such a delicious grilled fish meal and now we're having a wander

around Dongdaemun and I just love the dichotomy in architecture in this area so

you've got the impressive historical Dongdaemun gate that Thomas showed you and

then you've got this, the Dongdaemun Design Plaza so this really neo futuristic

building was designed by the late, great British Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid and

it is so spectacular, it's just made up of shops and event spaces

Seoul is such a cool city

it's nighttime and we've hunted down another food alley, we're here at pajeon

alley which is green onion pancake alley and where we're eating is just behind

us, let's go

this restaurant is so pokey, it's really awesome, we've just come up these

stairs and we're siting at the top level and I can barely stand up

thank you

we've just ordered

our pajeon, our green onion pancake and this place is really famous for their haemul pajeon

which is a seafood green onion pancake

and this whole alley started with just one

tiny shack in the 1970s selling this pancake

and now there's something like 10 or 12

restaurants, I'm really excited to eat this thing, it looks great

our drinks have arrived so this is makgeolli which is a fermented rice wine

it's really really common here in Korea and really common to eat, no to drink with

this meal so it's really cloudy so you've just gotta give it a little bit

of a shake to get all the sediment through the bottle and it's not too

alcoholic this, it's gonna be about 6 to sort of 9 percent alcohol, this one is 6

percent so not too bad, now the thing with alcohol here in Korea you can never

pour your own drink so I'll pour some for Sheena

you can see how cloudy it is and it's a

tiny bit fizzy as well and now Sheena will have to pour me some

okay makgeolli's up, so you always drink this out of a bowl as well

ohhh such a good flavour, it's a little bit tangy so it's because of the bubble and the

fermentation it's got a little bit of a zing almost on your tongue when you

drink it and it's pretty subtle in flavour it's not sharp in alcohol it's only 6%

so it's kinda like drinking a beer it's not like drinking hard liquor

but it is rice wine that is so good I can't wait for this pancake too because

it looks amazing and it's gonna go really well with this drink

our haemul pajeon or green onion

seafood pancake has arrived and holy moly this thing is big, like it's sizeable and

it looks real good so let me show you what is in here so you can see octopus

and then really thickly cut slices of spring onion or green onion and the

pancake batter is just a flour and egg batter and it's got really crispy edges

and to go with it there's some onion in a, I think maybe soy and black vinegar mix and also some

radish kimchi so I was really interested to discover how this dish came to be and

I read that it actually was created after a battle that took place in the 1590s

so what happened was that there was a Japanese invasion at that time and

they invaded this town or this village and when the villagers were fighting

they ran out of weapons to use and they ended up using spring onions or green

onions to throw into the eyes of the enemy, ultimately they lost and heaps and

heaps of lives were lost and so after the battle the remaining villagers and

the remaining townspeople started cooking green onions into a pancake

to act as sort of a tribute to the people who had lost their lives

pajeon or

spring onion pancake is a really popular food in Korea and what makes the pajeon in

pajeon alley, really really unique is this built up crispy outer edge here

so gosh it looks really good all right I'm just gonna get into this

thing and it is just laden with spring onions there's so much on there

oh my gosh

that is delicious, it's really crunchy but the inside of the pancake, the inner bit

is still a little bit gooey, the batter is a little bit gooey, the octopus is quite

tender, still has a little bit of chew and then those spring onions they impart such a beautiful

aroma and flavour to this, to the pancake, it is insane

check out the amount of octopus in this one so I'm gonna grab this I'm gonna

dunk it in this soy and vinegar mixture which is packed with those onions so the

onions should have bled out a lot of their flavour into the vinegar and soy mixture

oh my god

wow!

so crispy on the outside and then that batter on the inside is quite sort

of squishy still and just, just cooked because it's so thick, the octopus is perfect I

love it, it's got a tiny little chew but it's really really easy to eat it's got

a good um saltiness but then the vinegar flavour from that sauce that I dipped it in

really came through, wow that is good, I'm glad it's this big cause

that first bite is absolutely awesome, that's really really really good

Knit the Easiest Seed Stitch Pattern - Duration: 5:59.

The easiest SEED STITCH KNITTING PATTERN.

Hello I'm Kristen and welcome back to my channel STUDIO KNIT

today I am going to show you the easiest

way to knit up the classic seed stitch knitting pattern one of the most common

frustrations I hear from beginning knitters is that their seed stitch

somehow turns in to the one by one rib stitch which is also another great knit

stitch pattern but not if you want the results of the seed stitch so today I am

going to show you one simple trick to easily knit the seed stitch every time

we're using a 1 row repeat it's easy level perfect for everybody who's

completed my absolute beginner knitting series because we are simply using knits

and purls and you can see that this is a reversible pattern because the front

the right side of our work looks identical on the back the wrong side of

our work so this would be great for things like scarves or blankets and if

you like this pattern and what I do on my channel please like it up subscribe

it really helps me out for the written pattern you can head on over to my

website I have a link in the description below the pattern is written out there

for you totally for free I've also included a knitting chart so if you'd

like to start learning how to read charts then these simple patterns are a

great way to start doing that this pattern is also included in my knit

stitch pattern book available for purchase over on Etsy it's a

downloadable PDF that you can print out you also can have it saved on any mobile

device or desktop as well for our materials we are going to be using

giving needles and yarn and then you want to have scissors and a little

tapestry needle on hand you can have any size yarn or knitting needles you'd like

for the knit stitch patterns and I will link to what I'm using in the

description below so let's and knit it up we begin with our beloved Slipknot

and here is the secret to the perfect seeds stitch rather than casting on an

even number of stitches we are casting on an odd number of stitches so here I

have 5 stitches that's an odd number any odd number of stitches that you'd like

is going to help you easily make this one row repeat of the seed stitch I

think it's helpful to compare the actual knitted piece with our chart and you'll

see how the seed stitch is designed so that we have these alternating little

seeds these little bumps from our purl stitch alternating every single row the

pattern is k1 p1 in between those asterisks that means that we're

repeating it so here is our knit 1 that's 1 knit stitch bringing our yarn

to the front to do that purl stitch that's purl 1 p1 right there and we are

repeating k1 p1 because in between those asterisks it's telling us to repeat so

we have a knit 1 and a purl one and you look at very familiar with this as you

do your seed stitch and you continue this pattern all the way down the row so

now we're nearing the end of our row and we're continuing with k1 knitting 1 and

we're bringing our yarn to the front to do that purl 1 and we are finishing up

the row after the asterisks after that repeat of k1 p1 we have one last little

stitch and we are just knitting one right there that last little stitch is a

knit stitch and here is the beginning of our pattern already it

is starting to shape up now this is a one row repeat so that means we do the

exact same thing on every single row so row two on the wrong side it takes all

of the guesswork out of it we are knitting one and purling one on this

side as well so you just insert your needle with your yarn in the back to do

that one knit stitch bringing it to the front then purling it of course we are

repeating this pattern all the way down the row K 1 and then P 1 and then once

you're at the very end of the row you have that one last little knit stitch to

complete and this is your one row repeat you don't have to think every single row

you're knitting it the same so that you can knit your seed stitch pattern with

confidence every single time I hope you are inspired to give this a very easy

seed stitch pattern a try and I will see you here next time

BYE!

401K Loans and Other Ways to Doom Your Retirement - Duration: 8:40.

401K plans are easily the best return you'll ever get investing but most employers do a

horrible job at answering your questions.

By the end of this video, you'll have your 401K questions answered and will see exactly

what you need to do to get your nest egg back on track.

We're talking 401K investing today on Let's Talk Money!

Beat debt.

Make money.

Make your money work for you.

Creating the financial future you deserve.

Let's talk money.

Joseph Hogue with the Let's Talk Money channel here on YouTube I want to send a special shout

out to everyone in our community, thank you for taking a part of your day to be with us.

If you're not part of the community yet, just click that little red subscribe button.

It's free and you'll never miss an episode.

Now we already saw some of the worst 401K mistakes in last week's video and got a

glimpse at those tragic 401K average balances.

More than seven million retirees are living in poverty according to a study by the Kaiser

Family Foundation and tens of millions are just barely scraping by.

I got a lot of 401K questions after that video so I wanted to make this one to answer your

most common questions, talk more about the average balance by age and show you how you

can catch up even if you're already behind on your retirement investing.

For those in the community, following the channel, you know I'm a huge fan of 401K

investing.

I spent more than a decade as an investment analyst and wealth manager and can tell you

the decision to invest in your company's 401K is the best you'll ever make.

That company match on your contributions is like free money and it is without argument

the highest return you can get anywhere in investing.

This is the second of our three-part video series in partnership with Blooom on 401K

investing.

Now Blooom is an independent 401K manager that works with your existing retirement account.

You can connect your 401K account and Blooom's software will show you the investment fees

you're paying, and how to get back on track.

I'll tell you more about Blooom later and share a special offer to get your free 401K

health analysis but first I want to get to your 401K questions.

I'll cover the five most common questions but if I don't answer yours, scroll down

and ask it in the comment section and I'll answer it personally.

The most common 401K question I get is just about those basics of the program, what is

a 401K.

This is a special retirement investing account set up by your employer with a plan administrator,

usually an investment company.

The plan includes a list of stock and bond funds in which you can invest.

You set up how much you want to invest regularly and that money comes out of your check before

taxes are taken out.

Besides that pre-tax benefit, most companies will match a portion of your investment.

So a typical company match is your employer will put in another half of what you put in

up to 6% of your total salary.

These are two huge benefits of a 401K plan, that tax benefit and company match.

Another common 401K question is around vesting, what it is and what does it mean.

The vesting schedule is how much and when you get to keep the money your company puts

in the account for you as a match.

I know, it sucks that you don't get to keep all your company's match immediately.

You'll always keep everything you put into your account but the company's match is

yours gradually.

It's just a way for the company to keep people around longer.

For example, we see the vesting schedule for workers at Sprint here.

So if you are a Sprint worker and contributing to your 401K account, the company matches

half of your investment up to 4% of your salary.

If you make $40,000 a year, the company will match 50% of your contributions up to $1,600

so they'll put in another $800 a year.

Sprint will put its match amount in every time you invest but according to this schedule,

if you leave the company after a year then you only keep 33% or a third of what they

put in.

If you work two years and leave then you keep two-thirds or 66% of what the company put

in.

This is actually a really nice vesting schedule.

When I was an economist for the State of Iowa, the 401K vesting spread out over decades so

it took much longer to keep all the employer match.

Our third 401K question was How Should I Invest My 401K?

Now that's really the million-dollar question right?

This is one of the big 401K mistakes we talked about in the last video, being too aggressive

or too conservative in your 401K investments.

Too aggressive and you set yourself up for huge losses in the next market crash.

Too conservative and you won't reach your goals.

I've got a video here on the channel about how your investments change as you age but

this is really where that free 401K checkup from Blooom comes in handy.

The Blooom software will look at your 401K investments, your age and goals and will show

you exactly where to adjust your money to reach those goals.

Not only that but it's also going to uncover the hidden fund fees you're paying.

It's all free and takes less than two minutes to check your 401K so I'll leave a link

to that in the video description below.

The fourth 401K question here is a huge one, Should you borrow from your 401K plan?

Short answer, no!

Taking a loan on your 401K account might seem like easy money to pay off debt or whatever

but it comes at some very high costs.

First, you're paying the money back with interest and with after-tax dollars so you're

just destroying those sweet tax advantages with 401K investing.

A lot of plans also don't let you contribute while you're paying back the loan so that

could be a very long time you miss out on the benefits like a company match and tax-advantages.

Worse still here is the fact that you could be up for a 10% penalty and taxes if you can't

repay the loan or leave your job before it's paid.

Our fifth question we got was, How much should I have saved and how do I get back on track

with my 401K? so that's why I wanted to go back to those average 401K balances by

age and give you a few tricks to help grow your nest egg.

Now we saw from the Fidelity survey the average retirement balances by age, so you see here

that the average 401K account is about $167,700 for people age 60 to 69.

The red bar here is how many times your salary Fidelity recommends you have invested by that

age.

Someone between the age of 40 to 49 they say should have about three and a half years'

worth of their salary saved by that point.

There are a couple of huge warnings here with both of these numbers, the average 401K balance

and that recommendation for how much you should have saved.

First, if you're comparing your 401K balance by the average here, you might already be

off track.

That's because most people are tragically under-invested for retirement.

That $167,000 average balance in your 60s is only going to provide around $560 a month

in retirement if you're withdrawing 4% - so that is definitely not a target you want to

aim for.

Second here, and while I like the simplicity of Fidelity's target for how many years'

worth of salary to save, it's not the kind of personalized advice you need.

This is 30+ years of your life you're planning.

Do you really want to leave it to a rule of thumb or quick guess on how much you need?

No, you want to save for your personal goals and that bucket list you always wanted to

do in retirement.

So actually sit down and write out a story around your retirement.

What do you want to do and what does life look like.

This is not only going to help you put a number on your expenses but it's going to make

your goals real.

You're going to have a mental picture of retirement that will be your motivation to

keep saving even when your budget gets tight.

That's your first tip for getting back on track, just knowing exactly what your goals

are and finding that motivation you need to save.

Then, and this is another of the big mistakes we saw in the first video, you've got to

watch those hidden fees in 401K plans.

Between load fees, annual management and other costs, these fees can cost you hundreds of

thousands over decades of investing.

In fact, Forbes found in one study that a difference of just 0.93%, less than 1%, in

fees can cost a single investor up to $215,000.

Besides saving on the money you've already put in, you can also put more money in once

you reach 50 years old.

These are called catch-up contributions and in 2018 you're allowed to put another $6,000

a year into your account and get those tax benefits once you reach 50.

It's a great way to build your nest egg just before it's ready to hatch.

Blooom is going to help you answer a lot of these questions and maybe more importantly

find those hidden investment costs in your 401K plan.

The website is offering a free 401K checkup with the link below in the video description.

It takes less than two minutes to connect your 401K and the software is going to show

you where you're investing, how to adjust your investments according to your personalized

needs and all the hidden investment fees in your plan.

It's totally free and there's no obligation after the checkup so click through and see

how you can put your retirement investing back on track.

I'm going to do a complete review of Blooom in our last video of the 401K investing series

including how to put your 401K plan on auto-pilot so you never have to worry about it again.

I'll walk you through the website and show you how Blooom can help put your retirement

investing back on track, all in our next video so make sure you don't miss it.

We're here Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the best videos on beating debt, making

more money and making your money work for you.

If you've got a question about money, just scroll down and ask it in the comments and

we'll answer it in a video.
